Screen Lock timeout with tomtom - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I'm after some help please. I changed my registry settings (w/o saving them 1st!) to disable the tomtom screenlock when on power.
Not only didn't it work but my backlight has now defaulted to 10 sec and even tho I can change it, as soon the screen is locked either automatically or manually then it defaults to 10sec again- very annoying.
Can someone post the default registry settings for both of these on a latest ROM UK T-Mob Vario please.

Can someone post them please?

Please help with tomtom backlight

Hello,
I've got a HTC Wizard (T-mobile Vario - Dutch) with TomTom Navigator and have a problem with tomtom..
When using tomtom the blacklight stays on. Since i do not have a car charger the battery of the wizard is running low very fast.
The most ideal setting i had on my C500 (typhoon) with TomTom mobile. If tomtom gave me an instruction (for example turn right in 200 Meters) the blacklight turned on for 30 seconds an then turned off again. and so on...
Is there a possibility to get exactly these settings, or even just turn the blacklight off..
I have already searched and read about this topic on xda-developers but all the things i tried didn't work out..
Please help me with a step by step instruction..
Thanks in advance..

Can please someone help...
have got tom tom runnng n my Wizard and my C500.
dont thnk that you can get the back lght to turn off as a opton on the Wizard i have tred lookng everywhere
Whilest the backlight "keep alive" used to be an option in TTN3 i cant find any options for it in 5. the only 2 things i can suggest are:
Check your wizard backlight settings (start/settings/system/backlight)
And if its set correctly & set to turn off backlihgt after xx min then i'd suggest a "restore factory settings" in tomtom.
Mine definatly follows the wizard defaults, ie low brightness & then backlight off on batter, or full bright on external power.
Sorry its not much help :-/
Anyway thanks for the input,
Maybe someone else with a maybe better option?

Been playing about whilst windows updates, fraid i was mistaken.
If the backlight goes off before tomtom loads, it stays off (until you touch the screen & wake the device) but once TTN5 has loaded it stays at the settings the pda uses whilest awake (ie dim but on for bat or bright on charge). The only way i got the backlight to turn off was to turn it off in the backlight settings page.
sry for the mis info, i was sure it'd powered off on me before!

cant save new battery / blacklight info to registry..

hi
when i goto settings and set it to the time out i want i press ok fully come out it works fine, but when i turn the phone off then back on they go back to the original settings not the ones i changed
help
Hi please tell us the make and model of your phone and what rom you are using and if you have done any mods.
Also check the registry at HKCU\control panel\backlight - settings are there for battery and ac timeout etc..
Hi, I've got the same probs.
I have an i-Mate K-Jam with AKU2.
When I set the backlight timeout on battery to 1min, and put it in standby, it constantly reverts to 10 seconds.
Ever tried that? It sucks.
Also tried the registrykey mentioned above, but that does not work.
When I set the timeout via the GUI, I can see the change in the registry, so far so good.
But when the KJam goes in standby, it reverts back to 10secs.
The only way it does work is to disable the timeout completely
The backlight won't go out that way, but is draining your battery.
Especially when listening to MP3's and don't need any backlight.
PS: I don't want to do a hard-reset (yet), I want to wait until aku2.2, then I have to install the KJam again anyhow.

Backlight setting changes when I lock device

I have noticed that whenever I set my backlight settings to a 30 second delay, it gets reset to the 10 second default every time I lock the device (or when it gets unlocked - obviously can't tell exactly which it is, either way it's reset to 10 seconds after unlocking and going into Settings to check).
Anyone else experience this? Is there a fix? I don't know if it is a WM5 thing or a specific JAMin issue.......

backlight stays off after unlocking

Whe I switch on my phone by pressing the top-right button, the phone is locked and the backlight is on. After 6 sec the backlight turns off.
When I unlock my phone, the backlight stays off
I would expect that the backlight gets on when you unlock... but it isn't.
Now I have to press the top-right button twice (to turn off and back on) and unlock within 6 seconds to get the backlight on.
This is very annoying.
Is there a way to get the backlight on after unlocking?
I have no solution - but can confirm that this happens to my phone too.
Hi,
Same problem here Found it very annoying so I just disabled the Backlight shut-off function alltogether

This seems to only happen if you use some kind of tweak that adjusts the auto-lock function. I used to use HD Tweak and changed the value for some auto-lock thingy (can't remember what it was).
After I hard-reseted it seems to have gone back to normal. So I would avoid any setting that changes the auto-lock thingy.
Note that uninstalling HD Tweak did not restore the correct functionality. Probably because I did not undo the changes prior to uninstalling.
So maybe you can try to change back the value first and see if it helps.
Good luck, I found that bug very annoying and decided I could live with no auto-lock.
Hi Saros,
Thanks for the input

I use HD Tweak aswell and had a feeling the Backlight Issue only occurred after enabling the Auto-Lock feature, thanks for confirming my suspicions. I DID however turn the feature back OFF in HD Tweak. Unfortunately that did NOT solve the problem
Don't feel much for a Hard-Reset at this point since it took me quite a while to get my new phone set-up correctly. Hopefully a fix will be available, I'll go browse through the HD Tweak topic to see if anything gives yet...

Rolf,
Disabeling the Backlight shut-off function is a good tip. Thanks.
But I still hope there will be a fix for this problem soon... so we don't use to much battery capacity.

I had this problem when i changed some registry keys. The following must be:
HKEY_CurrentUser\ControlPanel\Backlight\[AutoDeviceLockEnable set to 0]
HKEY_CurrentUser\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel\[LockLevel set to 0]
marpam,
When I set the first regkey back to 0, the autolock doesn't work anymore.
When I manually lock the device by press and hold the down-right button (stop call), the problem still exist when you unlock.
I want to keep the autolock function, but with backlight back on when I unlock the device.
Bart
I had this same problem. I did a hard reset and again set auto lock in tweak then shut off backlight off and the problem is gone and now auto lock is fine.
You can also use Lumos - solved the issue for me

How to STOP black screen during a call?

Anybody knows the new registry setting to make the screen NOT turn black during a call?
On my X1 it was fast dormant setting but this is not there in the X2.
the registry key is HKLM\Services\MultiService\mods\Proximity\ SmartProximityHW
value is 1 for turning off display and 0 for leaving on.
Thank you!
Did try but does not work. It still turns the screen dark while on the phone during a call. Very annoying!
Perhaps you or somebody knows How to Wake the Device with ANY button press. Again was selectable with X1 but here its now (perhaps because no soft buttons?) but there must be also a reg setting.... hopefully.
For anybody that is annoyed by this black screen too........ I found the setting to at least delay this blacking out for a loooooong time if so desired:
under: HKLM\Services\MultiService\mods\InCallPwr ... set to 5000 or 50000 as I did. It is probably seconds before it turns dark. Setting was 5 (!) and it turned off in 5 seconds!
There are 2 settings, FirstTimeOut and Second. I changed the First! And later the second.... just because!
The main setting with InCallPwr setting 2, cannot be changed. I cannot delete it. This key will be recreated after restart. If somebody knows HOW to delete / disable this key, then we don't need to change the delay time
