Video record storage location - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I was wondering if there is a way to change the location of the recorded video ? By default, it's being stored in device's my documents. I would like to change this to the storage card. The storage options within the camera program only lists main memory and network. I've tried searching the forums but search results were all irrelevant. I've also tried editing the registry but the program still defaults to device's my documents folder. Any help would be appreciated.

Turn on your camera, click the tools icon in the lower right corner, click tools on the lower left toolbar, select options, select general. At the save to prompt select storage card.

Trouble changing the path to the SD
I have the same problem here - the SD option is not appearing, only Main Mem and Network. Any help?

I posted this in another thread somewhere, but for me, this happened when I installed Resco File Explorer and chose the "Show Network - as 'Network' folder under 'My Device'" option. Once I set it back to "Show Network - as 'My Network' root" option I got the option back to store my pics on the SD card.
You probably haven't got Resco installed, but I would guess your problem is connected to something similar.

Problem resolved
Darren,
Many thanks I removed the option from Resco settings. It appears like Reso changed 'Storage Card' to 'Network Folder'. Many thanks!

Forgot something
Also, I noticed PocketLAN or any other networking browser program attempt to add the Network Folder to the directory tree, so it's quite possible that the same happens with these programs too.

No problem. Looks like there's a wee bug in the camera app which would need to be fixed.

How to Save Camera pictures and videos to storage card?

I have Resco Explorer installed with the Network folder so I can access files on my network.
However, when I go into the Camera the only options for saving files is Main Memory and Network. There is no Storage Card option. How do I make it so the camera will save pictures and videos to the Storage Card?
IS there a registry tweak?
You may try this :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\Saveto
0 change 1
It work on Prophet.
Didn't work. Seems that the Camera has only two options available. When I add 1 to the regisrty is simply chooses Network or the second option. 0 is the first option. In this case, Main Memory.
I think Storage Card is missing becuase it displays the first two options alphabetically.
Main Network
Network
Storage Card
When I removed Network from Resco, the Storage Card appeared again.
The solution is to include a 3rd option in the pulldown.....but how?
Hi I have the same problem, has anyone found a solution to this yet ?
In your camera options you can indicate the storage location of the pictures. Start the camera, click the options icon. Click the bottom left button to enable more options. Select options, Then on the first tab select storage card at the bottom
I applied a tweak to show "Network" which resulted 2 options for the camera to save to (Main Memory & Network).
I too was frustrated by the lack of the option to save to the sd card.
As soon as I removed this tweak the storage card option was available along with main memory.
What is the network tweak and how do I remove it ?
same problem with the extended ROM unlock wizard... remove it and it works like a charm.
Well my problem was that I installed pocketLan and in there there is a setting to Show network i the explorer after I removed that setting i can save to SD again. Very strange that they didnt think of allowing more then 2 fields, QA person must of been drunk that day
The only work around I found is that if you want to save pics to your memory card, disable Enable Network Folder in PocketLan, then it forces you to soft reset your ppc, after that you have a option to save to memory card. So when you need to access the Network folder, re Enable it, and it will force you to soft reset your ppc again. Hope some1 can find a fix to this. Thanks
Same issues but with bluetooth explorer
Nvm I am not the brightest as nottoosmart would say.

Problems associated with Resco explorer networking

I have just solved two major annoyances. My camera could not save to Storage Card, and Pocket IE was ignoring the registry tweak to use cache folders on the Storage Card. It turned out that Resco Explorer was behind it, I'd set it to use a folder called "Network" within "My Device" rather than creating a "My Network" entry at the same level as "My Device". Changed it back, reboot, and now both camera and PIE use the Storage card.
I found this while searching here for the camera prob, but didn't expect it to sort the PIE problem as well so I thought I'd flag it up here.
Now I just need to figure how to make TCPMP see the network!

Yep! that's right camera only allows two locations to store pictures. So when "network" is enabled by any prog e.g Resco and others the camera will offer either Main or Network as the locations. Without Network enabled it offers Main or Storage Card. Until your post had not realised it also applied to PIE as well.

maybe changing the name of the memory card will work... ''Memory Card" insted of "Storage Card"....then Memory Card should come before Network M<N
I have kind of the opposite problem... Randomly when I reimage my phone and install Resco, network will NOT show up in my file directory. So far, the only solution I have done that works is to reimage it and install it again... anybody else had this weird occurance?

Possibly, there is a post spmewhere where someone identified the registry settings involved.
Mike
I'll do some searching - thanks!
Bummer.. I've poked my head around here and haven't seen that registry edit to enable Network on the root directory... you know where it's at off the top of your head?

Can I stop Camera app asking about Storage Card?

I have a storage card in at all times but I actually want photos to be saved to the built-in storage rather than the card. Annoyingly, the Camera application always checks for a card and asks if I want to change the setting. Even though I always tell it I don't want to use the card, it never remembers this.
Can anyone tell me how to fix that?
Cheers!

Usually the camera only asks about storage card when you have just inserted a new card OR you have the "network" folder enabled.
Now unfortunately the camera is only capable of saving to one of two locations at any one time so:
If the view network folder is NOT enabled you will be offered:
"Main" or Storage card" and once set it will remember your choice and not ask again.
BUT with Network folder enabled and a storage card inserted you will:
be asked if you want to use "StorageCard" every time you start Camera, but in camera tools you will only be offered "Main" or "Network" even if you chose the card. It will not set to storage card even if you said you wanted this when camera started.
So, if you want to use main memory with a storage card inserted and don't want the silly question about using storage card each time, then you must disable the network folder. (Use e.g. Resco or Total Commander to do this - forget now if regular File Explorer does it)
Equally if you want to save to storage card you will also need "network" folder disabled otherwise it will save to Main memory even when you say yes to Storage Card on start up of application.
The default setting for the Network folder is disabled, so if you are having problems it is likely to have been enabled by using the likes of Resco or Total Commander.
For those that like the underlying detail:
Specifying your own location in registry=
HKLM - Software - HTC - Camera - Image - SaveFolder - xyz
where xyz is your folder name, but note this folder will be added as a subfolder of the following (in this case storage card) auto added path: /Storage Card/My Documents
Note that setting a location or name other than the defaults will result in problems viewing pictures via the application, though they can be viewed by locating and opening files individually.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image]
value of "Saveto" = 0 will save images to main memory
value of "Saveto" = 1 will save images to storage card

Mine asked about 4 times and then quit. I thought it was odd but all is good now.

Yep, that happens. Though if it just does it a few times it's more likely due to, to put it crudely, it being temperamental about recognising the SD card and storing the registry key number successfully. If it persists then it's more likely due to the network folder issue.

Thanks for the information. Here's what I've tried so far, based on it:
Installed Total Commander. Couldn't find an option to display the Network Folder.
Installed Rescoe Explorer. Enabled the Network Folder and did a soft-reset.
Before, with Network Folder disabled, the Camera preferences showed "Main Memory" or "Storage Card" as the only two options.
Now, with Network Folder enabled, the Camera options shows "Main Memory" or "Network" as the only two options.
However, the problem has not gone away. It still 'detects' the Storage Card every time I start Camera and asks if I want to use it instead of main memory. I'm using the latest HTC ROM (1.35.255.2 11/14/06).
I also installed PHM RegEdit to check the values you mentioned.
Under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image] I have a key called "SaveFolder_0409" rather than "SaveFolder", but this has the correct value of "My Pictures".
The other key, "Save To", has the correct value of 0 for "Main Memory".
Any other ideas? (Thanks for the help so far.)

Mmmm Pesky thing because in theory if it recognises the card it should not ask each time. I had assumed you had network folder enabled already because with that enabled it definitely will ask about storage card every time. So I would reset to disable network folder. In this mode it should ask about storage card on the first occasion only and once you have chosen ot should not ask again. But as a poster above found this took four goes before it settled down.
So I can only suggest that the act of disabling the network folder again might settle it down and it will only ask you once about storage card.
I;m afraid though this type of problem is rather common and folks just find one day it's fine next day it isn't - in your case I hope the changing of settings to on and off again for network folder may reset things, can't say I'm holding my breath though.

Heheh - nope, it didn't make any difference. Maybe it's just in the design of this ROM to persistently try and persuade me that I really want to save to the Storage Card. After all, who would want to save to Main Memory when they have a Storage Card inserted? (Answer: me.)

So not only do we have a nanny state but a nanny ROM as well! Saint Tony's bound to be behind it somewhere.

I'm having the same problem? any way to fix it?

EDIT: I install Resco Explorer but I have no idea where the network folder is or what to do.
Bump! Bump!

how do I get the camera to use the storage card?

I'm running WM6.
I can't seem to find the setting for it...when I go to the camera and try the Capture Settings->Storage setting it only lists "Main Memory" and "Network".

If you have the hermes set to show the network then it will not offer the storage card as an option. Just disable network view and storage card will appear in the camera application.
Copied from an earlier post of mine:

Seems kind of silly, what do you think the reasoning behind that setup is?

Reference Page for Folder Structure in HD2

hello everybody,
i am searching here for a while and couldn´t find any helpful webpage or forum thread here that shows me, where are the standard folders located ( registry settings ) in WM6.5 or in special for the HTC HD2.
i would like to re-arrange any folder for media files ( ringtones, mp3-music, videos, documents, ebook and so on....)
to an easier structure in \\storage card and saving memory/space in mydevice
for that reason i´d like to know where are folders for what reason of standard-copy paths in \\mydevice and \\storagecard to erase un-needed things and avoid duplicating
the goal is to have easier folders to locate files
like
\\strorage card\Pictures
\\strorage card\Videos
\\strorage card\Music
\\strorage card\Ringtones
\\strorage card\Documents
and make sure that standard applications use that new paths for managing
i think i am not the only person who is interested in that, otherwise sorry for disturbing
thank you
PS
Everything you mentioned happened to be under \\My Documents. They are part of file sync to Windows.
It is a bad idea to place ring tones on SD card. It probably won't work.
thanks for that info.
that was indeed my intention also to change ringtones to storagecard. i am aware that didnt´ work , but with changing reg-keys maybe..any idea where they are ?
Yeah, don't put anything on the storage card that your device might need at any given time. Even if you never remove your card, it won't always be available when needed. For instance, when your device wakes up from an incoming phone call, it can't access the storage card right away since it may take a moment to activate the reader. Therefore it might not be able to use a ringtone stored there.
For the same reason, I wouldn't redirect the "standard" locations to the storage card through a registry change if I were you. You never know how the device will react if it wakes up and doesn't find its "My Documents" folder right away.
Other than that, it doesn't really matter where you put your media files: most of the built-in applications look for them everywhere. So if you want to save internal storage space, you can move most media stuff to your storage card without redirecting the default folders.
For music, I'd say go for "\\strorage card\Music", since that's where music files are automatically stored when you sync with Windows Media Player on the desktop.
For pictures, you might want to use "\\strorage card\DCIM\100MEDIA", since that's where the camera puts new photo's; but "\\strorage card\Pictures" will work just as well. HTC Album will pick up pics anywhere you put them. You can even choose which folder to display in the Sense tab. From the Sense tab, just go to > "Album" > "Albums", pick the one you want, then > "Menu" > "Set as favorite".
As you can see, these will work without redirecting the default folders to your storage card. If, however, you want to try anyway and don't mind the risk of experimenting, the content of this registry key looks promising:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Explorer\Shell Folders
Good luck!
If you want to change the location where the camera stores new pics, you might want to look at this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/Pictures/Camera/OEM/PictureLocation
But again: I haven't tried this, so use at your own risk!
