Hallo,
just wondering if there is a way to record audio to the Universal.
I would like to use it recording Music while I DJ.
Is the Headphone jack Out only and is there a way to use the usb wia adaptor? Which software do I require?
Thanks
I did some recording simply using the standard microphone (not headset) and recording settings set to CD-quality - and I was truly amazed by the good quality!

Anyone know how to record streaming audio.... like...I'm streaming radio off the net...and I want to record it thx
Well not that this is a lot of help, but you can record using the Note recorder or (my suggestion) using Sound Explorer which is a great MP3 recording device. This is in the case that you at least want to make notes of what you are hearing. If your in a quiet room the sound will record pretty well just by picking up what your radio is transmitting...
another likely theory to work (still have to do this myself) is to actually make a wire that plugs into the headphone jack and redirects the audio to come straight from the headphones into the mic. As for a software solution, there are none for the PPC that I know of. There are some for the PC, but thats not what your looking for.
I wonder whether somebody has tried to connect a high-quality mic to the mda2 in order to improve recording quality?
Can the device record with two mics in stereo?
Is the plug avalable seperately?
Thanks
V
i'm pretty sure that the mic is mono
Rudegar, thanks. You are right. the mic is mono.
My goal is to improve the sound quality of the recording.
That's exactly why I asked,
"Can the device record with two mics in stereo?"
(Provided one can indeed connect two mics)

V
when the headset which include mic is connected the speaker and mic in the device are hardware muted
and cant be used at all
I'll try it again in other words (Sorry for not being precise the first two times. English is not my native language).
Goal: I need to do quality sound recordings in stereo.
Idea: I would like to connect external SHURE SM58 mics to the mda2.
Can the device record with two mics in stereo?
Is the headset 2,5mm plug avalable seperately?
Thanks
V
yes you can buy a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack conveter just make sure it also bring out the mic some only do the lineout
still not sure about what you mean with recording in stereo
the mic in the headset is mono
and the mic in the device cant be used at the same time as the mic in the headset
there is no way you can get it to record anything in stereo
unless you can find some SD audio grapper card
you can record in mono and make it joined stereo with an audio program joined stereo is just making both channels play the sound
still not sure about what you mean with recording in stereo

"recording in stereo" I mean recording with two external microphones at once.
Pls. forget the headset. Please forget the internal mic.
Let's explain it that way:
In order to record in decent quality you traditionally need :
2 mics
A stereo tape recorder
Result:
Tape with 2 channels
(This is stereo BTW)
Now my idea:
replace recorder with mda2
2mics
MDA2
Result:
Wav or mp3 with 2 channels
To set the scene:
1st: Throw away the headset
2nd: dump the internal mic (or at least ignore it altogether!)
"How can one connect 2 mics to the MDA2 in order to record a 2 channel (stereo) wav or MP3?"
Please! Does anybody understand my question? If yes could you native english speaker please help to rephrase it? Thanks
the jack connector in the xda support 2 line out
and 1 line in
there is no way you can connect 2 mics to 1 mono mic in
much in the same way you cant connect a 5.1 surround system to your xda and play movies with surround it have 2 lines out and 5.1 require 6 lines out
same thing with input 1 line == mono
no way you can connect 2 mics

Thank you!
That was the answer I needed.
But it does not mean, that I am too happy with it.

Hi
Is it possible to attach a decent mic to the Magician and then record uncompressed audio? IIRC it has a really small connector for the headphones so somesort of converter would be needed - but after that could some software be used to record high quality recordings
also would the battery last for 3 hours of recording?
Hello,
as you all know, the microphone of the Desire HD is terrible when having louder sounds.
i'm going on a motorcycle vacation next week and i would like to make movies in the mountains. Because of the wind, it records crappy sound.
So i want to plug in a microphone (or headset) to record the sound while having the microphone inside my jacket.
does anyone know a solution ? just plugging the handsfree in, does'nt work.
No it wont work. You would need an App to record from the input. Dont think there is any like that around from what I know
Is also not possible to make an app to force the usage of the headset mic.
since it works with calling. I don't care if i had to switch manually between headset mic and the normal setting.
or a app to control the input volume sinds it records to loud. (try recording in a pub)
Good news!
i found a app called LGcamera
it works great on the DHD with external mice
Does anyone have any experience in regard to connecting external microphones to the OP5?
The idea behind this is that I want to record classical music with a high dynamic range without any compression or clippings. I'd like to record myself playing the piano both with an HD video and good audio quality or just use it as an audio-only recording device for concerts etc. In the end I'd like to have a recording that gives me at least uncompressed PCM-audio at 16Bit and 44.1kHz as CD quality stereo tracks.
The microphones in question could either be small binaural microphones or a semi-professional setup with a pair of Neumann U67/87 and I'd like to know whether the OP5 can make native use of those microphones, i.e. using its own Analog-to-Digital converter, or whether it is necessary to directly feed a pre-processed digital signal to the phone via USB.
Any pointers to an existing discussion are welcome, just as much as your personal experience, tips and tricks for this kind of set up.
Hi, I have been looking and looking, and it seems that the default camera app doesn't support external mics, but a 3rd party app does, like open camera, but for me, it zooms in a lot when recording.... it sucks
I can now state that it is possible to use external microphones.
I've bought a microphone pre-amp UR22-MK2 by Behringer that puts out a digital signal via USB an using a USB-To-GO adapter, I can feed this into the OP5. The stock camera automatically detects this external audio source and uses it, deactivating the internal microphones.
Unfortunately there are sometimes audible clicks, which do not occur when I record on a PC from the Behringer input. I suspect it's small hickups due to compressing the audio track while recording into an MP4 container.
I wish there was a video app that lets me define lossless audio recording.
