on my mda while i was browsing mail.yahoo.com i noticed that pressing certain buttons did not work...such buttons were compose, forward, reply, etc...my question is what do i need to do to get these buttons functional? also is there a way to browse on the mda the way you can browse in a pc? it seems when i try to run launch.com i can't watch the videos, listen to music, etc...also do i need the java midlet to run when browsing IE to get the java to work?
some help out please
i just want to know what do i need to make my IE run as if i were to run it on a pc...while on IE on my mda i can't access certain webpages and they come up blank...or sometimes there will be buttons that i can't click on...
other IE issues...can i use macroflash as well as it macroflash player? can i use javascript to run fully?
Use another browser, jeesh... There is AvantGo, Netfront, Opera and Opera Mini to choose from. If the problems you are having are WAP PUSH problems, well, IE might not have full support for those.
thanks for the reply...i have opera already...just want to know if there is a browser out there that has full functionality as a real pc browser...i have netfront from a long time ago...will this browser support macromedia and flash as well as javascript?
Javascript
I have a few questions about Browsers and Javascript. I always get a Javascript error when trying to access certain sites that obviously require Java.
1. Is there a way to enable Javascript on IE
2. Or would it be better to just download one of the other browsers?
3. If so, which one do you recommend?
Thanks for your help!!
late reply
just try opera...java seems to work fine for me...now only if i can get flash to work ...
Just wondering what people are using to browse the web (other than the default browser) ?
I've tried Opera Mobile but it seems to play around with some of the text on the input area and screen (odd).
hi, had the same problem with opera. browsing seems fine in terms of speed but the language is distorted. i read the support page of opera, though it supports windows mobile 5.0 they said if you can't find your mobile phone in the support list then it's not compatible. they're suggesting opera mini instead but i haven't tried it yet.
currently im using netfront v3.3 which is so far the most stable for my atom. and browsing is so fast unlike PIE (sucks!). you should try mini-mozilla too.
for opera got funny character in input text. just copy the font arial.ttf from your pc window to atom /windows directory. and soft reset.
What do you know ... copying the font over work .... thanks Mazam.
Just out of interest, how does Opera compare to the others (Netfront etc.), are there really any major differences ?
No, don't use Opera. It's writen in Java and have good support for smartphone. Too bad. It's not really for PDA.
You can try Minimo - Firefox for PPC. Here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
One of the Minimo's good side is it show web pages with java script perfectly. Unlike Opera. Maybe Minimo load slower Opera little bit but it good enough for me.

what do you mean opera is java platform.. that is opera mini, what i'm using is opera for mobiles...
u can go here http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/winmobileppc/
Opera mini 8.5 is bar none the best browser, especially when used with the 'fit to screen' option. After using it, netfront, pie, and all the others feel 'broken'.
Does anyone know the grit on Skyfire?? its supposed to be a browser w/flash compatibility. The curiosity is killing me.

I know that I signed up for Beta!
in skyfire privacy it says: "we will save all your internet usage and all data like time, websites, etc...:"
it is discussed in many other subforums and all say the same: keep a way...
Keep away?? its a ploy? what gives

Its great as said by Brigthand, but, I hate the part where it says that 'it uses web server to capture the image of the whole web page and then sends it back to the device'. This is a great threat to our privacy who use devices to input credit card numbers; online banking etc.
My netfront still rules
Yes, understanding that I fully agree. Like someone looking over your shoulder. Definately not good!
Opera Mini does the same thing, so who cares? Just don't surf illegaly on your phone and you're good. Illegal stuff is usually too demanding for phones anyway...
I don't know why... but I guess I would trust Opera more then the creator of Skyfire. The data goes through a proxy in both which makes it much faster, same thing happens on the sidekicks.
did I get banned
hey I just got my skyfire invitation last night installed and started playing with it even checked some adult websites figured out that it does open all kinds of video but today avery time I try opening it it says lost network conection try again later just doesnt work wondering hat happened
wasn't there a transformer autobot named skyfire?
There was an announcement that it will go Public Beta Morrow!
The public beta is out now. I can't get it to work w/ the T-Zones proxy hack which is a bummer, it works over wifi tho. Pretty good so far, it plays youtube videos straight from the site.
skyfire
Hey skyfire runs good on my wing I have windows 6.1 OTPV6 and I just loaded version 0.85.0.7927 from the first forums page under development & hacking. Youtube looks good and runs smooth thats running wifi , but I did notice it takes lots of battery power

Now don't most US carriers do the same thing anyway?? But like another users stated, If you’re not doing anything illegal on it, you’re good to use it. I've been using it on the old ATT Wireless (mMode) network and by that network being mainly WSP with limited Http support. Skyfire is wonderful. I have been using Opera mini and Mobile to get things done completely through http but still hitting brick walls with some sites.
With skyfire, the only wall I've come to thus far is openview... site with its certificate needing to be installed/accepted. Looking for a solution on that now. Other than that is GREAT for me and my $25 true unlimited data plan.
Here is the skyfire 0.85 public cab file.
Skyfire is a great program.
Try skyfire now!!!!!!
I like skyfire. iv been using it for a while now. it is alittle buggy but i think its worth it. It loads web pages pretty fast without wifi and with wifi enabled its really fast for a mobile browser. i just think the scrolling and the zooming function could be way better.I know that skyfire reqires your phone number to work but if your interested in trying then try this download i have below. its an older beta version, (my first 1 actuallyfrom about a year ago lol) this version may only work with wi fi enabled. Just extract, then drag the folder anywhere on your pocket pc. let me know how this works for u guys.
skyfire and opera are completely different to me skyfire has flash settings for ANY WEBSITe includin for the lonely people xD and i dont think opera has flash settings like skyfire but i hate skyfire load up screen but you need a connection i use wi fi so that a con on opera
Skyfire is Awesome!!
i have been using skyfire for three days now and it works flawless. as to the privacy issue, just dont go to places you would put vital info and just browse other sites for fun and distraction. i have been able to go to all my favorite sites. all worked wonderfull.
Skyfire too slow or too buggy?
Hi,
I asked this in another thread last week, but noone answered.
I'm using my mobile phone HTC HD2 since 2 weeks.
I'm searching a webbrowser which is able to play flash streams.
I used Opera 10... it didn't work
I tried Opera 9.5 with this fix of another thread... it didn't work
And for a few days I tried Skyfire 1.5x and the stream beginns to load, but all sites are loading very, very slowly. The other browser are loading faster.
By the way... the stream loads, but just 47% and then it's over... :'-(
Now my question:
Is there a webbrowser which is able to play flash streams?
What is the problem of Skyfire??
Regards
GameCrasher
I Just Flashed a new ROM to my wizard (TNT 19213) and decided to investigate getting a new web browser to replace internet explorer. Does anyone recommend one over another? Also, how do you load them onto your wizard?
You could try Minimo. It's a mobile browser based on Mozilla.
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
They have an exe install you run from your pc or a cab install you can copy to your phone to install from.
opera mini.
Opera mini, no doubt about it
Access NetFront Browser is free, and works similar to the much lauded SkyFire browser (also awesome, but in a closed beta test cycle that seems to be never-ending). The thing that sets these apart from the remaining browsers is that they are full-feature browsers, that show the internet as it would look on your desktop. In my opinion, Skyfire is superior at rendering sites true to their appearance on desktop browsers. NF browser is a little behind, and has a hard time substituting fonts, for example. There are both advantages and disadvantages to both browsers, as with anything. The main disadvantage to both of these is that you either need a wifi connection, or an unlimited data plan, or you're going to rack up a bill quickly, downloading full web sites.
For mobile browsers, there's Mozilla's Minimo, which is nice, and opera mini, which seems to be favored on this bulletin board site, and Microsoft-backed Zumobi (also in beta testing), all of which have nice features, but won't be the "best" for everyone. Keep in mind they are all mobile browsers, which means things like flash, javascript, and other web 2.0 features might not display properly, or might not work at all. All are much easier on the data plan than the full browsers mentioned above, but that means degraded websites only. Frankly, I just use the IE browser when I'm away from a hot-spot. I'm just more selective about what I surf to...
One last thing I almost forgot: All these browsers are free, but there is a pay-for version of Opera that is supposed to be superior to Mini. Opera Mini also requires the use of the MIDlet Manager or some other Java Emulator, making single-click launching much more complicated than necessary.
tried minimo but also like opera mini best,
you will need some java support for running it on your wizard.
i am using esmertecs.
someone on the developement and hacking made a cab instalation of the new opera mini browser that installs java emulator + opera mini and works best. has a dirrect shortcut in the programs folder and loads web pages extremely quickly over gprs.
I havent tried any of the "betas" floating around. Opera mobile is awesome too, but loads pages slower. works best with wifi.

Thats exactly what I was looking for because the cab files are much easier to deal with, do you know where I can download this program?
Hello folks.. this is not another FB related thread...
i can access the full facebook website with my opera 9.7, the thing is that the site doesn't display properly! i am unable to see the wall! i have javascript active, plugins enabled and fixoperaflash 1.5.5.20 working properly with ieactivex.dll registred, but with no success.
I am able to view it properly on Internet explorer though... so it's opera related... don't know whats wrong! youtube works perfectly for instance, and the thing is that it worked before but i was installing some opera builds, and trying to add flash and then it got broken, and i was never able to view it again, no matter what i do.
tried:
-deleting user profile
-reinstalling opera
-installing other version
-view all possible configs
nothing.. suggestions appreciated!
i can see that i am doomed... DAMN!
hi. try to use another app like facebook or dolphin browzer HD
I know this may sound crazy but disable java script in opera 9.7.
I too have found various websites not working with the java in opera 9.7 so its now disabled and much mch better.
Websites now load superfast on hd2 without advertising and commercial crap...java is ****..
