Hello folks.. this is not another FB related thread...
i can access the full facebook website with my opera 9.7, the thing is that the site doesn't display properly! i am unable to see the wall! i have javascript active, plugins enabled and fixoperaflash 1.5.5.20 working properly with ieactivex.dll registred, but with no success.
I am able to view it properly on Internet explorer though... so it's opera related... don't know whats wrong! youtube works perfectly for instance, and the thing is that it worked before but i was installing some opera builds, and trying to add flash and then it got broken, and i was never able to view it again, no matter what i do.
tried:
-deleting user profile
-reinstalling opera
-installing other version
-view all possible configs
nothing.. suggestions appreciated!
i can see that i am doomed... DAMN!
hi. try to use another app like facebook or dolphin browzer HD
I know this may sound crazy but disable java script in opera 9.7.
I too have found various websites not working with the java in opera 9.7 so its now disabled and much mch better.
Websites now load superfast on hd2 without advertising and commercial crap...java is ****..

Anyone using MultiIE or PiePlus? And whatever happened to NetFront? Still seems lost in limbo. Opera is "fine" but is there anything better out there?
pieplus doesnt wan to work for me here, either it the 128dpi or wm6.
opera mini 4 beta2 is really nice, especially when running full screen on the esmertec jbed java vm.(search the general section of the forum). Unfortunately can't login to this and one other forum with it, so it still has issues..But it renders pages so much faster than anything else.
The last netfront 3.4tp is quite good, hopefully it'll be a free upgrade from the last .release.. but 3.5 is promising much more!
on a netfront theme this sounds good

I'm using PiePlus. It works nicely in all three resolutions for me. I like it much more than opera. The only problem is that on some web pages, only Opera is able to display the pages correctly. Therefore, I have both. PIE with PiePLus as the default browser, and if the pages could not be displayed correctly, I go to Opera to see if Opera is able to do it. Sometimes, both browser can't do it, notably those with Java applets. I'm able to do all internet banking with either one of them, depending on the bank.
I once was able to do youtube in PIE, but strangely I no longer am able to do it (can only do the mobile version of youtube now). Opera was never able to do youtube before.
Bottom line, have all of them in your device, and use them according to the website.
I admit I'd not tested PiePlus with the latest PK2.0 rom, as you said it worked, I thought I'd give it a go.
So far it's lockedup once, which is much better than before, when I couldn't even open PIE with it.. Running 96dpi.
is it possible to use either opera mini/mobile or both using just wifi. i have searched the web and xda and found nothing that involves this topic.
connect to a wifi router and launch the browser, bingo!
Unfortunately that doesn't work. There is issues with Opera Mini and wifi. Or maybe the issue is connecting Jbed with the wifi connection ...
Does anyone know the resolution?

Try different java engines. Last time I ran Opera Mini, I believe I was on Schap's rom. I don't have a data plan so all I had was wifi. I actually like Opera Mini more than Opera Mobile. Mini had a more intelligent zoom while Opera Mobile will show the entire page, then you need to open a context menu to select the zoom in functionality.
It would be nice to have a browser that will zoom with gestures.
I run Esmertec Jbed with Opera Mini (latest version, don't remember which one exactly) just fine exclusively over WiFi. Didn't really have to do anything special to get it working. The only added thing was to run a Mortscript for creating shortcut that starts Opera automatically.
I Just Flashed a new ROM to my wizard (TNT 19213) and decided to investigate getting a new web browser to replace internet explorer. Does anyone recommend one over another? Also, how do you load them onto your wizard?
You could try Minimo. It's a mobile browser based on Mozilla.
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
They have an exe install you run from your pc or a cab install you can copy to your phone to install from.
opera mini.
Opera mini, no doubt about it
Access NetFront Browser is free, and works similar to the much lauded SkyFire browser (also awesome, but in a closed beta test cycle that seems to be never-ending). The thing that sets these apart from the remaining browsers is that they are full-feature browsers, that show the internet as it would look on your desktop. In my opinion, Skyfire is superior at rendering sites true to their appearance on desktop browsers. NF browser is a little behind, and has a hard time substituting fonts, for example. There are both advantages and disadvantages to both browsers, as with anything. The main disadvantage to both of these is that you either need a wifi connection, or an unlimited data plan, or you're going to rack up a bill quickly, downloading full web sites.
For mobile browsers, there's Mozilla's Minimo, which is nice, and opera mini, which seems to be favored on this bulletin board site, and Microsoft-backed Zumobi (also in beta testing), all of which have nice features, but won't be the "best" for everyone. Keep in mind they are all mobile browsers, which means things like flash, javascript, and other web 2.0 features might not display properly, or might not work at all. All are much easier on the data plan than the full browsers mentioned above, but that means degraded websites only. Frankly, I just use the IE browser when I'm away from a hot-spot. I'm just more selective about what I surf to...
One last thing I almost forgot: All these browsers are free, but there is a pay-for version of Opera that is supposed to be superior to Mini. Opera Mini also requires the use of the MIDlet Manager or some other Java Emulator, making single-click launching much more complicated than necessary.
tried minimo but also like opera mini best,
you will need some java support for running it on your wizard.
i am using esmertecs.
someone on the developement and hacking made a cab instalation of the new opera mini browser that installs java emulator + opera mini and works best. has a dirrect shortcut in the programs folder and loads web pages extremely quickly over gprs.
I havent tried any of the "betas" floating around. Opera mobile is awesome too, but loads pages slower. works best with wifi.

Thats exactly what I was looking for because the cab files are much easier to deal with, do you know where I can download this program?
I have the htc hd2.
I browse with the stock opera but i noticed the rendering is awful.
I installed opera mobile 10 and it was worst. Why would opera consider it final
when there is no pinch to zoom and the rendering is the ugliest i have seen?
I tried internet explorer but every site i visit says internet explorer 6 is being phased out blah blah. I have tried to use skyfire but it is SLOW!!!
What do you guys use to browse? anyway to improve rendering on the opera browsers? Anyway to add pinch to zoom on opera mobile 10?
Is like skyfire is the only browser that supports flash and almost every site i visit plays the flash content fine hulu speciually but it is very slow.
Can somebody please help me? help me find hacks that will imrpove my browsing experience?
Unfortunatly Opera 9.7 or w.e version came with the HD2, was specifically made for it, while opera 10 is for every wm phone out there.
My HD2 didn't arrive, but my brother uses the Opera and loves it. Check if you have server side rendering on, which could turn things ugly.
Rendering on the default opera 9.7 is perfectly good for me.
Rendering on Opera 10 is exactly the same as on Opera 9.7. Your network provider is likely to be compressing images so that there's less data usage.
Also, if you open Opera 10, open the menu (wrench icon) and go to settings, advanced and turn on plugins, it will play flash.
Yeah, Opera 9.7 renders images perfectly for me too.
I was struggling with the flashOperafix - it didnt work properly, was crashing my browser, etc. I also did not find any plugin which would start the videos in the build-in YT app. But by pure luck I found a solution which is... Opera 9.7 .
Actually it is not the same Opera 9.7 which is provided in HTC HD2 - it is some tweaked or newer version which I think is available only in some networks. Anyway I installed this Opera as mine stopped working completely...
The first thing I did after install was checking out YT and the funny thing - it works like charm! But the best thing is that the video starts in the YT app and when you close it it goes back to the browser! So it works even better than on Safari and the iPhone!
Maybe sb already found it but if not... you need to check it out . Now I'm really happy with my Opera browser and I will try some more pages . I wanted Flash only for YT videos anyway...
I couldn't attach the file (bigger than 8MB) so here's a direct link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?kmtwjynzn4m
If the link stops working it's called "Miri_Opera97_TMO201" so you can google for it.
EDIT: Dailymotion works too! It says it is not compatible with our devices but I ignored and all videos work . The only downside is it does not support embeded videos on other sites but you can't have everything .
Does it support all the functions of the default Opera on the HD2,like multy touch or text page rendering etc.
Does it replace the original opera or I can install it on the storage card an have the best of the two worlds!! as is the case with the Opera 10 which I have installed it on my SC.

Works exactly like standard Opera 9.7, supports multi-touch, etc. - and it seems to be a little bit faster and more stable. On my phone it replaced the original Opera 9.7 and I'm very happy with that - I think you can install it without worrying as it is exactly the same Opera only better .
Thanks i am already downloading it and will try it soon,my only concern was that if i dont like it I had to HR my device to get back the original Opera, now that seem to be unecessary.
thanks.
I installed it and it works like a breeze!
Just for your information:
The concept it uses is very simple. It adds a m. in front of the youtube link like: m.youtube.com so it basically redirects you to the mobile version of youtube and saves you the hassle of adding the m. yourself (wich worked very well in the original version of Opera)
I tested the ROM artemis 26 ESN, but seems to no work.
I must say that I have customized registration User Agents to be "Desktop" and can influence it, to others of other changes ...
Maybe that's what you do not work for me, anyway thanks for the link.
Greetings.
