will this work over wifi?
this works over bluetooth, by wifi it's more simple, you just have to configure the wireless and browse the network normally, you woun't need ftp
my badm, i meant for ad hoc device to device connections, (jam 2 jam)
i think not !

I suppose I'm a noob at this. I really want to get this to work, because although I like the Bluesoleil stack it doesn't support certain headphones. But PAN works great on it...
I've installed MS IIS and the ftp protocol on my PC but don't know what to do. I have 3 networked drives, namely \\ads-1\d, \\ads-1\e and \\ads-1\f.
Please explain how I set up IIS to point to these drives. Or is there a site that can walk me through it? Many thanks!

Can you access folders on PC through Activesync?

Hi,
From my PDA I can access the internet over the USB connection by having pass through on activesync set to the internet on the PC.
I would like to be able to access shared folders on my PC from my PDA over the USB connection. Is this possible. If it has to go over activesync that's ok.
BTW: My PDA is a Magician.
Thanks,
Stekke.
Z2 PocketLan
Best way is through 3rd Party software Z2 PocketLan, will even create shortcuts. Will work over wifi, BT, Activesync etc as use it at home to stream music to PDA
the new total commander is also good
totalcommander explicitely states in the faq that over USB through active sync is not supported.
I've tried pocketlance but can't get it to connect.
Other suggestions?

Network/Mapping/Shared Drive Question...

Hi,
I try to use VLC for Pocket PC and I would like to access my PC that has multiple drives shared. I have tried Total Commander but I was unable to open a //192.xxx.xxx.xxx/Drive Link
Is there any other Method ?
Can I use Media Player to play songs from my PC as a Network Share to my Mini S (Wizard) ?

i know you can do it using rosco explorer. the way i do it is to use the software from www.orb.com. it sits in your system try and you then access it from pocket ic and it streams the media to your phone from anyware in the world via. gprs or wifi etc
grim
Resco Explorer works a treat for that.
dont connect to an ip, connect to your computer ie
\\computername\sharedfoldername
Did the above naming convention still didn't work I was waiting for it to ask me for username and password since it is in a workgroup on a home wireless network. Just says can't connnect.
just to let you know - my problems with alarm clock started when i installed resco explorer and ENDED when i trashed this application - very useful but I want to rely on my wizard waking me up in the morning ;-)

Accessing LAN using Wizard

Guys, I've looked around quite a bit on the forums and can't seem to find anything on connecting the Wizard via LAN and enabling Print / File Sharing.
My Setup...
1) Desktop computer physically connected to Linksys WRT54G Wi-Fi Router. (IP Add: 192.168.1.10)
2) Wizard connects to Wi-Fi Router (IP Add: 192.168.1.11)
3) Enabled File and Print Sharing on desktop LAN Connection (Ethernet Adapter)
4) Use Network Setup Wizard ---> computer connects to Gateway Router ---> Workgroup name : mshome
5) Selected a folder for File Sharing
6) Resco Explorer shows the name of the desktop but cannot connect to it.
Hope somehere can help.
Also how do I go about doing video steaming using VLC on the LAN. I'm able to do it if I use the WAN IP but not the LAN IP
Guys.... really need some help here....
To my knowledge there is no native printing setup in Windows Mobile 5 so there isn't an option to setup printing through your desktop as you would from computer to computer. There may be something third party to help fill this void, but i don't know anything off hand. Why would you need to print from the Wizard anyways though?
how about, something that enables you to access (mp3) files from a wLAN-connected external hard drive? (mp3 wifi streaming )
oh BTW frazell is right there is no native print support on the WM5 OS. try third party programs. i think i have seen some... but you can only print simple files like word/excel documents and pictures (i think)

Yes I know Native Print Sharing is not available.... but I'm looking for File Sharing.
I can only see the name of my desktop in Resco, but I cant access any of the shared folders on it.
Also is it possible to have file sharing enabled on the wizard without the use of activesync? through my wireless network itself?
it is possible, read here

What about Network Browser (PPC 2003/WM5) 1.3
? I haven't used it myself but it looks interesting.
You can also use PocketLAN (http://www.z2software.com/). It works perfectly on the Wizard, and it even seemlessly integrates into File Manager .

[Q] WM6.5 and Windows Netoworking?

Is it possible? Like being able to browse my Windows7 shares (like Mp3s and videos) with my ppc?
Yep, this is possible. You just need to use a file explorer that supports network browsing. I think Total Commander does.
Then just point it to the IP address of the computer with the shares on it
Of course this works if you are connected to the same network either via wireless or USB.
