MDA Compact as USB Phone for Skype - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Dear all,
I was wondering if there is a way to use my MDA Compact as a USB Phone to operate Skype on my laptop. I know there is PPC version of Skype but for some reason it doesn't dial. So I would like to run Skype on the laptop and then use MDA as a head set.
Thanks a lot
Alex

Jam as a GPRS modem

Hi, All!
I have a JAM and HP iPAQ hx4700 and i want to use my JAM as a bluetooth GPRS modem for iPAQ. Can anyone tell me how can I do this?
Imate - Jam as GPRS modem
Lots of people want this also.
You need to sort the bluetooth stack out first
Something like BT Tools would be nice
Can anyone out there help?

what is bt tools? I cant find this program
Has anyone gotten the imate JAM working as a GPRS modem via BT with any other PPC's or iPaqs?
I've just installed Pocket BT Tools... didn't do any good.
This should work (event though I don't understand the sense of it). The SSA profile is platform independent and when the stack of the HP is capable of using this profile from another device, it should work. Let me put it like this - if you can use it with your Pc, you should be able to use it with the IPaq.

I want to use the HP HX4700 for surfing because of its 480x640 VGA screen. I can pair the HX4700 and imate JAM via BT just fine. However, when the HX4700 attemps to use the JAM's GPRS connection, the JAM never dials out. The HP eventually returns an error message "cannot connect..." I've tried using the JAM's wireless modem app as well, with the same results. I'm not certain where the whole process is breaking down.
What parameters do you use? You should do the same as for your PC. Have you successfully connected to your Magician's modem with your PC? If not, try that first. Search the forum for tips.

My PC doesn't have any BT hardware, so I can't exactly test it using that platform. My HP HX4700 can use my SE P910a as a BT modem without any problems. The question is whether or not the imate JAM and/or the HX4700 both have the required software to share the GPRS connection. I've already paired the two devices -- they can see each other. However, when I attempt to connect to the JAM from my HX4700 to use its GPRS internet connection, then JAM doesn't initiate the auto-dial-out.
As far as parameters, I just go through the BT wizard on both my HP HX4700 and imate JAM. I can complete both wizard questionaires without any problems. The only part that breaks down is the actual JAM GPRS dial-out, which never starts automatically as it should.

TOSHIBA E800 with WM 2003SE - Works !
IPAQ 1940 - Does Not Work !!

Using bluetooth SSA protocoll and the Wireless Modem application on the MDA Compact side (I-MATE ROM WWE112 english )
On IPAQ and Loox 720 same kind of error is reported (cannot connect for an unknown reason)
I was surprised Loox 720 does not work (otherwise this is one fine machine !

Compatibility of Pocket PC and Smartphone software?

Hi All
My wife has a MDA Compact II and has been given a copy of CoPilot Live 6 for Smartphone. I remember reading something about convergence of Pocket PC and Smartphone software, and wondered whether this would work on her Compact?
Thanks

Internet via bluetooth

I want to share my adsl internet connection via bluetooth to my I-mate (the same device as qtec s110),so I can use internet on it.I'm planing to surf, and to use programs as msn and skype, but with voice support. Is there any od these programs made with voice support that might work on my I-mate (128MB internal memory)
Thanks a lot,and exuse me for grammar mistakes
youve got a magician so your better asking in that forum. the ONLY phone that is a charmer is T-Mobiles MDA Compact II.
You'll probably need a bluetooth stack that supports PAN to share the internet connection. it can be done over Activesync Bluetooth but is probably limited with what you can do.

Struggling with Bluetooth

Hi guys,
Really hoping someone can help me here as getting very frustrated.
First off, I just need to confirm what model of phone I have! It's the MDA Compact II, so I assumed the Charmer, yet does not have WM5 on it, it's WM 2003 SE. Is this still a Charmer...or a Magician?
Originally I had another unit which came direct from TMobile, which had WM5 on it. I lost it. I bought another one off Ebay but it appears to be an older model phone, with WM 2003 SE on it. (Didn't realise this at the time grrrr).
Anyway I bought a Bluetooth dongle the other day to use with my laptop. My only need for it really is to simply transfer files between the laptop and the MDA.
I've installed the software that came with the dongle (Bluesoleil) but I can't see obviously how I am to transfer files. I can pair the devices but they will not connect with each other. Do I need to use FTP? If so, I can see no provision for this on the MDA.
Hayy-elllllp!
Many thanks in advance,
RHF
Hi, the easiest way how to recognize these units is to look at the information about the device (settings - system). The older version (magician) has 416MHz clock of the cpu, newer version (charmer) has only 195MHz clock of the CPU.
It can only be the Magician. There is no Charmer with WM 2003SE and no Magician with WM5.

MDA Compact II: is the bluetooth stack upgradeable?

Hallo all!
I have a MDA Compact II with German WM5.
Is there any way to upgrade the existing MS-BT Stack to make PAN connection work?
The scope is to get file acces and use the MDA as wireless web-cam via BlueTooth with some program like Ateksoft WebCamera Plus.
I read many threads in this forum till back in 2004 and googled allot for several days, but could not find a clear solution.
Most instructions are for the Magician, and don't seems to work on Charmer. I tried Widcomm, BlueSolleile and Toshiba alternatives... until i needed to hard-resset the device. They or don't install or deinstall cleanly, or causing side effects that can't be accepted (speaker doesn't ring, microphone echo in earset, etc.) or simply don't work at all.
Any direct instruction, or by pointing me to the right place would be much apprecciated.
Thank you for your attention.
