Hi
I am trying to do a hard reset, i have searched all the forum and the wiki, and tried to press on the soft keys
but still nothing happened, the device just boots normally and it doesnot display any message as the wiki suggested.
am i missing any thing here? or the soft keys are different than those i am pressing
littelly i am pressing on the RED and Green keys under the screen, is that right?
btw
the result i get fro mthis process is it the same as clearing the storage result from the settings?
wrong keys, not the red and green ones, the two key that look like a -
one more thing, even if you do press the right keys, it may take some tries before you get it right, press and hold those two keys and keep holding after you reset

Bit unfair of you. I know you are experts but your search engine is not brilliant. I tried hard reset TyTN OR hard reset kaiser to no end, with what I thought were the right amount of + AND. How are lowly persons like us supposed to know that the Kaiser & Hermes are the same?

The Kaiser & Hermes are NOT the same. The Hermes is also known as the TYTN, and the Kaiser as the TYTN II.
You have posted in the Hermes section asking about the TYTN, so we are assuming this is the phone you have.
If you are still having problems, the keys you must press are the two soft keys, directly below the screen. While holding these two, press the reset button and release it straight away. The screen should immediately show the hard reset confirmation, and you can then release the soft keys.

Odd,i searched for "tytn hard reset" and had the answer on the first result.
The search turned up this>
http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...reset&sa=Search&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8.
Of which the very first result was this>
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-283462.html
which in turn lead to this>
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets
It appears that the search engine, while maybe not brilliant, does its job quite effectively.

My brand new HTC Wizard has died and I can't re-flash it (as activesync won't detect it) and the hard reset function doesn't work (with hardware buttons). Anyone know of an other way to hard reset? It is rather urgent and I'd rather not have to send it back.
O2 XDA Mini-S branded, starts up radio screen but then goes completely white. LEDs still seem to flash, it won't connect to my PC and it won't respond to anything
EDIT: After posting this the phone finally decided to play nice... Why is it as soon as you look for help it decides to work?
PS. I had to hold com manager, voice record, power AND reset. Not a comfortable possition at all.

The Hard Reset function is supposed to be hard to press, to keep it from happening in a pocket or something. I guess that's a good thing considering how may buttons on my phone get pushed when I sit down with it in the provided leather case ^_^

Not so hard that you require finger contortionists or two people to get it to work. For a start you have to press the soft reset button which is inside the device. It is impossible to hard reset this model by accident, or my Alpine for that matter.

Yeah, got everything back up and running in the end. Just a pain to figure this thing out.
I've just gotten my T-Mobile MDA Pro, and i am very happy with it
however, a few things
1. How do i hard reset? being my first WM5 pda, i cant find how to hard reset (total factory reset) the thing...
2. How do i get out of ozVGA?!?? in the last 5 mins i just set it to true vga... how do i get back to normal? soft reset wont work, just keeps rebooting to true VGA... kinda panicking at the moment...
Help would be much appreciated on this one...
<edit>
omg... breath... i have sorted the VGA problem... man i am sweating buckets now
See, ive wanted a Universal ever since the rumours started nearly 2 years ago... and now i have one i nearly brick it in the same day... and the problem in the end was me being a dumbass and not reading the readme
</edit>
Google!
If you must know, press and hold the backlight (lightbulb) button and use the stylus to press the reset button. Hold the backlight until you get a menu with three options. Use the dpad up button to move from item to item, use the down button to select yes or no. Set Clean Registry and Format Storage to YES and press the middle dpad button to reboot. This also works for the QTEK 9100

PS please use helpful topic titles, and you'll get help much faster.
Hi, thanks for the info.
sorry about the title, I was kinda preoccupied with my malfunctioning PDA... and I guess I should've used the search, too...
But you got VGA working right?
I wasn't sure if you needed any further help on that...

Hi,
I've managed to kill my Orbit 2! Everytime it starts up it gets as far as the Windows Mobile splash screen then shows the volumn control (both levels turned down) but goes no further. The power button still turns the screen on and off and the screen still dims after a while with any key bringing it back to full brightness, but nothing happens!
Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, I've looked in the forums, but can't find details anywhere of how to hard reset this phone! The only instructions I've found relate to non-existent buttons!
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_cruise_polaris_hard_reset_soft_reset.html
Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening or how to hard reset!
Thanks in advance,
Nick
it is the bottom two buttons (below the answer & hang up) and the stylus for a soft reset.
When it asks for a confirmation hit the green answer button
Hope this helps
Thanks NC35 - that did the trick!
Luckily I backed it up on Sunday so shouldn't have lost too much!
Thanks
Having tried ( now three times with no help ever) to speak to O2 and ask how to hard reset following the start menu completely failing..... I was told it was "impossible" you will need to return it and use the "28 day" repair service.....
I have at last managed to restore - thanks to this posting!!
No comes the reseting process - which is a bit of a bore!!
O2 seem to have dispensed with any actual tech support at all!!
Dave
The procedure of performing hard reset is perfectly explained in the manual that comes with the phone. "hard reset" is included in the index of this manual, so it takes only a couple of minutes to find out what you have to do.
After all, RTFM ;-)

calm down. read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381600
most likely flashing another rom will fix your problem
I have downloaded the hard-spl. I'm completely stuck. I can't connect my pda to activesync. activesync didn't detect my pda. by the way, when I reset the pda, screen that asked to press SEND for restore to factory setting turn up few minutes after resetting. press green button, screen automatically shows windows mobile startup screen. I'm still stress, |I'm sorry but I can't helped it..
sorry guys. I have read the instruction wrongly. now it works fine.
many thanks cr1960 who has kindly response to my silly worries
thnaks again.

NP. Glad you got your problem sorted
Hi all,
I appreciate any help here as i'm relatively new to this.
I have a hermes with the sprint rom update and that's it. I was recently trying to update to a different rom and I keep running into the same error. I don't know what my bootloader version is, and the ok power and reset button doesn't bring me into that mode. my camera button does, and I also don't see any of the spl information that's asked to be picked. However I just do the force, and it almost works and It brings up the screen where it actually should start loading...however here comes the problem. it keeps telling me that theres a usb connection problem.. I have several chords and tried them all and nothing seems to work. I checked other forums for this problem and found none..although I am horrible at looking. any help would be much appreciated. thanks!
Did you HOLD the three buttons (ok, power and reset button) in until the phone reset?
I'd say to try the sd card method but 1st you need to install Hard SPL to make sure you CAN FIX it if something goes wrong then upgrade your rom. If you haven't flashed any other rom before I'd bet my bottom dollar you have a "dangerous" SPL to try flashing with.
Try the three buttons again like I said then, if your SPL isn't 2.10 olipro (yeah, right), read this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
It will provide you with the right tools to start flashing.
Cheers....
thanks for the help. however the ok button still isn't doing it. is this common? I can only assume the mode where the three color bars displayed on the screen is the boot loader. and I see nothing about olipro. I hold the ok power and reset button and it boots upp like a regular soft reset. but with power camer and rese, then its colored screen. I'm not sure if this makes any difference...

Can you post a photo of your device , just to make sure its a Hermes we are dealing with here, also where the buttons are would help
Hi there, your sprint mogul is a Titan
HTC TyTn = HTC Hermes
Sprint/HTC Mogul = HTC Titan
Thread moved to the appropriate forum. good luck
Heres a link to the Titan wiki.
Having looked all over for a couple of days
I came across a picture with instructions for
hard resetting a wizard, which is resetting the phone
thus the phone lock as well.
Dead easy really
1. Press the Comm Manager button (top left)
together with the Voice Activation button (top right)
for 2 seconds.
2. Keep holding the 2 buttons above and press the soft reset
(middle right little hole) with the stylus for another 2 seconds.
3. When the black screen appears it'll ask you to click Send
That's it All done !!
The wizard's going to reboot and reset himself.
Hope this is going to help some of you.
This is called 'Hard Reset' and perhaps its known to almost every wizard owner, its supposed to be known though !!!
Anyways ! thanz for the info!
ATENTION PLEASE... Thanks.
Nice Thread...
but...
what is a hard reset?
what is a soft reset?
