Hi all,
I have a XDA 2 which works almost perfectly, the gprs settings connect me to the internet and ms messener. I have a small piece of vpn softwate that allows me to connect to my work network and use the intranet there using netfront/pie. I have an IM application that resorts to using the default network option (i think) when the application is started it disconnect gprs and my work vpn and then attempts to connect using the MMS O2 gprs setting and no amount of fiddling with the xda 2 can fix this, my IM app does not have a select adapter option.
Does anyone know where this is stored so that it can be deleted completely? I have found the settings in mms composer but I am unable to delete it?
It does nto show up in the standard network settings either.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks andi
guys ihave tried 100 things, i have read 100 topics but i dont know what iam doing wrong... or what else i need to do...
connecting the phone with activesync 4.5 to a pc which has internet... but no internet on the phone...
what should i do?
thanks in advance...
You have the match the network location setting between your Wizard and ActiveSync (Internet Setting or Work Setting).
If an unknown error is prompted when you use IE to browser web page, add a Registry in your host PC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AllowLSP with dword value 0
Try unchecking the advanced network functionality
that's located in the connection settings

I just got a $600 bill for cell data charges and I can't seem to stop it! Hopefully someone can help...
Here's what I did in my testing tonight:
1. I went to:
Start | Settings | Connections | Advanced | Select Networks
and set both pull-downs to "My Work Network". Shouldn't this force all data connections to WiFi only? Neither is set to use the cell network.
2. I went to comm manager and ensured MS Direct Push and Data Connection are disabled.
I then take my phone into the basement where there is no cell signal and I then go to activesync and click SYNC. A warning popup window appears saying "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network."
So...activesync is STILL trying to use the GPRS network. What is going on? How can I stop use of GPRS???
Thanks
HI

Personally I use HD Tweak to disable my GPRS settings so that I can control when my device can and cannot connect.
You can find HD Tweak at http://montecristoff.webs.com/
You'll find that there are some other useful features in HD Tweak besides enabling/disabling data connections too.
your problem is that Activesync is set, by default, to sync on a regulsr basis.
you need to set up a dummy exchange account and then you can get into the AS scheduler nd set it to 'manual'

...or, alternatively, go to ActiveSync -> Menu -> Scheduling -> Set both options to 'Manually'. It won't try to connect GPRS/EDGE any more until you explictly want to do it.
Or you can set in your gprs connection profile that you need a password, then it will show a connection box every time, so you can tell it, if you want to connect or not.
I actually have an exchange account this the HD must sync to, but using WiFi only.
I don't understand why it is trying GPRS!? Should it only use available connections?
Something still doesn't make sense. The MoDaCo app does the same thing as HTC's Comm Manager I think so that may not be the answer. I don't want to mask the problem, just figure out why it is syncing this way.
Solved! To help others trying to disable GPRS as well, here is the solution:
Go to HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections
Export this “connections” key to undo your changes later.
Go inside every data connection and you’ll find a key “Enabled”.
This key has a value 0×1 (1), change this for every connection to 0×0 (0) for every connection you want to disable.
I could only get activesync to sync wireless with bluetooth? or by usb.can you fo it in your home network?
I'm syncing with an Exchange server - that works differently than syncing with a PC...
My provider offers a push mail service. However to use that service a specific APN needs to be used and that data connection cannot be used for regulare internet traffic. So I would like to be connected to the push mail APN most off the time and switch to the regular APN when I wanna surf or something.
So far I haven't found a way to stop a data connection and to start a specific one. Anybody have any ideas where I could find such a thing?
Specific APN
I'm using vodafone as provider. They have an online tool to create a static that you can install on your mobile device. This dial-up connection is then selectable under active sync settings/ advanced/ connection. Instead of using the setting internet you can select dedicated. This will then automaticly use this setting for the exchange syncro and this will not affect your setting for internet. I've added the cab file. If you extract it you will see the xml and registry entries. Perhaps this can help you.

Question: Can I somehow setup my device that after I click to update MyWeather automatically connects to WiFi vs clicking ToggleWiFi button?
