I have an i-mate Jam with a Vodafone UK sim and I've never (despite many attempts) been able to access my POP3 mailbox over GPRS. I can acces it over a USB-PC link, and with a Wi-Fi card, and I can also get to my web mail using Vodafone WAP.
When I try to connect to Vodafone Internet (apn = internet) I always get "Cannot Connect" and "Answering modem has disconnected" messages.
Can anyone help please?

I just today recieved my XDA 2 which was bought unlocked ready to use with my Orange PAYG SIM card. I Followed the instructions

to allow internet access through orange but have nah problems. When attatched to the cradle with ActiveSync, the internet works fine. but when i try to connect to Orange GPRS it says "Connecting to GPRS for quite a while before saying...
Cannot Connect
Dialed : orangeinternet
No modem at above number. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings.

I went into the orange shop and they said they do not have internet settings for the phone as they do not produce it themselves.
I do not know what i have done wrong or how to change my settings so that i can connect to the internet out of my usb cradle.
Thanks for any help given...

...?
anybody?
Have you checked with Orange that they have activated gprs on your sim? O2 do not allow internet connection over gprs with a payg sim card, all that is allowed is wap over gprs although it is possible to access the web over gsm.
Thank you ever so much i had Orange enable GPRS and now i can use the internet on my Pay as You Go simcard wherever i want! Thanks! Anyone have any idea of how much GPRS costs on Orange?
I have recently changed from o2 contract to o2 payg.
I know that I can't access a pop3 account via GPRS, but surely I can by normal dialup such as tiscali.
I have deleted all of my network connections, and have tried to add a dialup connection but I always get the message:
"unable to connect: Ensure that your modems are inserted correctly, and no network card present."
Anybody know what I can do - I am\off sailing tommorow so am desperate to get this sorted ASAP
Hello there,
just recieved my XDA mini S from O2 Germany and I'm quite happy with it. I was able to manage a connection to my mixed mode WEP secured acces point however I'm not able to surf with IE when connected to Wifi.
Can someone point me to a solution?
The Device says it is connected and also has a IP from my DHCP server
sincerely,
maui
Hello there,
I just found the error, there was a proxy setting in place which has to be used when connecting over GRPS with o2 Germany.
However this showed me another problem. Because I have a o2 WAP flatrate i use to surf over GPRS when no WiFi is available. Does someone know how i can configure that the proxy is only used when connecting over GPRS?
greetings,
maui
One thing I noticed on the QTek 9100 unit was that the wireless network card was set to use the "My Work" option whenever I had to reset the connections
Setting the Network card to use "The Internet" connection restored the Internet connectivity.
I have a slight problem with my Vodafone GPRS settings. Whenever I try and connect to the internet on my phone, it now hijacks my actual phone connection.
I also can't connect to my internet when I'm on the phone. Slightly confused as to why this is happening =(
Before, the internet used to bring up a seperate connection in the notification manager. Now, it takes over my phone, so I can't actually receive calls when I'm on the internet =s
Any help would be great
sounds like you've got it connecting to WAP
It should be connected most of the time to "contract internet"

vodafone
advanced connection->gprs
try switching between pap and chap
PLEASE STATE WHICH COUNTRY YOU ARE IN.
The settings are different for each country so you may end up putting in the wrong ones.
Hey sorry,
I'm based in the UK
Ok. With my internet connected to the Contract Internet, I can make calls and be on the net, but my Vodafone UK signal icon is gone from notifications. Yesterday it was still there when I was connected to the contract internet =s
Goodday,
My Boss has a Tytn II.
And uses the dutch Vodafone.
Its not connecting to the internet or exchange email.
I have tried:
Windows auto wizard - No success
Manually according to website - No success
I have tried both with and without proxy
And tried both with PAP and CHAP authentication.
But it cant connect.
Is there anyone who knows what this could be?
p.s. when text messaging 1300 - internet
I get a stupid sms back with an URL.....
You could try connecting the TytnII to a pc with USB cable and thus using the pc's internet connection through Activesinc. Then the URL should work.
I have an TyTNII on the dutch Vodafone network. No problem, internet and exchange access both work. So if the activesinc method doesn't work for you maybe check these settings:
I did have to change the Access Point (Toegangspunt) from live.vodafone.com to office.vodafone.nl (username: vodafone, pw: vodafone) though. But that depends on your account type.
In my case the connection uses the proxy: 192.168.251.150
Hope this helps, good luck.
