Hi guys, just wondering if any of you guys can help me.
On my old MDA III when the dial pad is on screen you can access the call history by simply pushing right or up on the D-Pad and you can access the speed dial by pressing left or down.
I always used to use this fuction in the car as i don't need to even look at the phone while im pressing it.
But Now i have a universal and it doesn't seem to respond to the d-pad when on the dial pad screen.
Is there any way of switching this fuction on, either through registry or even a program??
Would also like to have this settung back. Had ut on my ipaq 6515 and was great for one hand operation while driving.

Hello Guys,
Today, I finally got my new MDA Vario - which is an upgrade to my MDA compact (Magician).
One thing that is really bothering me is the fact that when I used the Magician - I always used the speed dial function using only one hand:
First push is the green dial button and the second push is the down arrow. This was extremely convenient.
Is this possible to do with the Wizard??? if not - then this would be extremely inconvenient for me.
I hope you guys can help
Thanks,
Lisa
No, in WM5 for some silly reason they removed this very convenient "shortcut".
I have to say though that the Speed Dial button on the screen is very large, and it can be pressed one handed quite easily. Still it is a big waste not to use the d-pad whenever possible.
This is where Microsoft needs to learn from Palm big time: one-handed usage using d-pad.
Hi to all just like to ask how do i make voice dial calls when the xda executive flip cover is closed i tried andd it did not work
you need to have at least one entry in Voice speed dial, and should not have the buttons locked. (which is a bit dangerous since there are a lt of buttons to be pressed inadvertedly..)
Alternatively, use the BT headset call/end button to launch the voice speed dial. Obviously BT needs to be on (blue LED flashing)
Hi lutz
I thought the same but even with the buttons not locked it doesn't work on mine. Still keep having to open the lid an inch or so :x
Can anyone confirm if it should definately work with the buttons enabled (start, settings, buttons, lock, do not lock buttons)
Orange M5000 : I cannot select the phone pad input method, in any application. When I try to select the phone pad, it just always selects the keyboard input. Does anyone know which cab file in the extended ROM might fix/reinstall the phone pad functionality for me?
Cheers,

I've just discovered I now have the same problem. Got my phone back today, all seemed to be working fine, but I no longer have a phone pad. Annoying, because I do all my texting in T9 mode.
happened to both my handsets, hopefully the new rom will keep it on!
there is a workaround for this - soft reset device, then go to contacts, and select phone pad input .. it then works, and then generally seems to keep working...
I have had my 8125 for quite some time now and it has gone thru alot. My problem is that the call/answer key/button does not work as well as the call end button. Does anyone know of any apps that i could use as a sub. phone pad? I set my voice record button as my phone button but the is no talk icon in that phone pad. Any ideas would be great, thanks.
Can I get clarification please?
Your touch screen phone pad is not working...or your hardware button are not working?
If it's the former, it may be corrupted like mine was, just install a new pad (you can get some nice ones from zombienexxus)...at least doing that worked for me. The other thing you can try is to re-flash your rom. If it is the buttons on the device, I am not sure how to help you, other than asking if you are at all under warranty or have insurance on the device with which you can use to swap it out.
Sorry couldn't help more. Best of luck.
the hardware :-(
bad news for me. it is not the touchscreen, it is the actual psysical buttons on the phone. but in most new roms the dial pad only has certain buttons and lacks others. i just need a basic pad with the ability to hit the touch version of the call button, due to my physical button not working.
I'll give it another go ahead to find an alterative pad. thanks for the remomendation though.
I think I dropped my Wing one too many times, or else it got wet in my pocket the other day, and now the directional pad randomly stays in the left position. It's annoying, because it cycles through menus and basically incapacitates my phone until I manage to jam down the d-pad in other directions and it stops. I looked at the disassembly manual for the Herald (couldn't find one specifically for the Wing) and it looks like a real pain to pop that sucker off, so does anyone know of a reg key or something to disable the pad entirely?
