Having some problems connecting my polstar Bluetooth gps unit with my mda. Using Tom Tom V5.00 software.
Can someone reassure me it’s the outdated firmaware that is causing problems and not the equipment itself.

i believe there is a problem with tom tom 5.00 and bluetooth gps units. If you have a legit version of the software go to tomtom.com and upgrade to tom tom 5.10 and this should sort it. If not search on this forum for tom tom bluetooth patch as i am sure it is about somewhere. Find this patch and your problems should be sorted!

Guys, my Xda IIi locked up, so i had to do a hard reset. So I lost my tomtom5 installation and my bluetooth configs. Now tom tom won't work after I reinstalled it. I can connect to my GPS receiver fine via bluetooth, but when I go into tomtom, I choose Bluetooth port com6 as my device (is that right?) and it just says no GPS device! But the bluletooth connection is FINE. It has been months since I last installed tomtom so I have forgotten what I had to do to get it working. Can anyone remind me please?
Thanks
BT receiver is a GlobalSat BT-338 (sirf III)
ok guys IGNORE this thread, hope I didn't waste anyones valuable thought processing time -- all I had to do was install the 5.10 patch
Has anyone got Tom Tom to work successfully on an unlocked SPV M1000? If so, I'd love to know ....
1. What GPS Receiver did you use, and where did you buy it?
2. What TomTom settings worked?
Thanks, and greetings from sunny Spain!

Hi i have got a M1000 working perfectly with Tom Tom 5 and a wired reciever, got the reciever from e-bay shop called think techicology's it was about £30 but the M1000 also works great with my bluethooth reciever, so any reciever will do. i wouls imagine Tom Tom 5.21 would work with M1000 as well.
which types of receivers

a pda phone being unlocked have nothing to do with gps
pda's without phone can use gps too
a gps is unlikely to know a device have a phone or if that phone is locked or unlocked
Hi all,
Anyone using BT GPS?
If so, which one, how do you find it, and what software are you running.
Thanks Guys..
Ratzz,
I use a holux unit, coupled with Garmin Que and GPS Proxy. It only works well wih the tytn rom. I tried it with the DOPOD rom but it keeps freezing the screen.
Another note, Using the tytn rom has eliminated my alignment issues with regards to the screen.
regards
TomTom 6 & a Fortuna GPSlim.
Takes a little while to sort itself out when TomTom starts, but seems fine after a couple of minutes.
I cant use Tom Tom cause of the malaysian Map not being available
I'm using Holux GPSlim 236 with Destinator 6 when on the road and OziExplorer when roaming in nature.
yes I do
Using a Xloc and tomtom 6
Work great
Holux GPSlim 236 with Tomtom 5 (I am about to upgrade) and PTGmap for topo maps in Garmin format.
Using Destinator 6 (yep, I work in Destinator) with a large variety of BT GPS: GNS, Royaltek, Globalsat, Emtec and some others.
Do not forget that after you pair a GPS using MS BT manager, you also need to enable an outgoing portfor this connection.
I'm using Tom Tom 6 with Hamlet gps BT and it's ok!!!

I am using Iguidance with the Globsat 338 Its ok, the only problem is that if a call comes through, you have to restart the program.
Which one is the fastest and smallest SirfIII-based BT GPS unit you would suggest for TomTom?
Fortuna Clip-on for me, used with iGo on my m3100, although I have also used it with tomtom on previous pda's. Will upgrade tomtom and put that on a memory card shortly.
I'm using a Navilock BT338 GPS Mouse (SIRF3), which works perfectly together with my MDA3,MDApro and MDA Vario2 as well! I'm using it with TT5.21 for more than a year, and will upgrade to TT6 (just tested, works fine too!) soon.
The navilock keeps contact to satellites which are not seen/found by several others, can even be kept in your pocket and works without problems behind thermo-windows in cars! It is very small and is working over a whole day without loading, standby more than a week, and ist very easy to set up (connect to COM4).
Hey guys im fairly new to this forum.
Reason Im here is to ask for some help on seting up my gps tomtom for my ipaq 6955. Seems to me some of the people I been reading about theyrs seems to be a reg edit hack step in order to get a gps signal due to com port conflicts.
Does anyone here have a step by step instruction on how to properly get the tomtom working properly? I really dont want to edit the reg and screw up my ipaq, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
HP6955 Tom Tom GPS Setup
I have a UK 6910 with Tom Tom 6 installed. The GPS port settings are Com 7 at 57600 baud. I have had no problems with any of the GPS software using these settings (IGO 2006, Destinator 6, Co-Pilot 6, VisualGPSce & Memory Map 5)
Hope this helps.
Hi (newby here!!)
I'm also having the same trouble. I've recently upgraded from TT5 to TT7.450 (9028) but it can't see the internal GPS device. I've checked the registry - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/TomTom/GPSSettings and all is as previously mentioned. I've changed the 'ComPortNumber' to various other values and even 'Force' to 1 (not really sure what that did?!)
Any ideas?
Many thanks
