How to set a hardware button "hold" mode? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I'm wondering if someone knows if is it possible to have a "double" function on hardware button, similar to the VOICE RECORDER button.
It can be pressed or pressed & held doing different actions. Is it possible to have this behaviour also for the other hardware buttons?

Button mapping/pda case problem

I've tried several pouches/cases, and keep having the same problem when a call comes in and I go to pull the phone out of the case, the Messaging or PIE button get pressed inadvertantly.
So the best fix I can come up with, is to remap the buttons to activate those apps on a Press & hold, rather than just press. Problem, is that the Hermes does not allow me to map Press & hold for any of the buttons except the PTT (via PTTFix - thanks Sleuth255).
My understanding is that the Button press versus press&hold functionality is implemented in the OS, so there's got to be a way to get to it?
That's incorrect AFAIK. The record button has press and hold, but it's emulated in code.
I don't think Press and Hold is implemented in the OS. I imagine Sleuth's solution is also externally emulated and parsed back into the OS.

Thanks.
I'm playing with an eval of AEButton, and it seems to do everything I was looking for (and then some).

Camera button

Hey Guys,
is there any way to for instance chance the button with which you take pics on the HD, I have been taking pictures in the normal way but prefer to use the side buttons or another button on the bottom.
Help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Agreed ... is there any software that could do this. Heard software such as AE button could reconfig the buttons but cld these be done for the HD, would be really useful and less awkward then the touch screen in my opinion

Hmmm - I have AEButton Plus and I have not previously played with the camera and this button mapper.
I have the volume buttons mapped. BUT, in the camera application it seems that AEB+ is no longer able to trap the volume buttons. It looks like HTC have switched off the volume buttons in the camera application.
When I exit from the camera then the AEB+ mapping works fine.
so it is not possible to reassign other buttons to this purpose? too bad, thanks for the help and please let me know if you find anything!
actually it is possible to reassign volume up to Enter (with aebplus/aebutton plus) and use it in the touch hd camera app. Well... at least it used to work for me for some weeks. Now I have exactly the same problem and don't know what could have changed.
Strange thing is: When I unmap volume up in aebplus, do a soft reset, remap the button (with some luck) I can take exactly one picture - afterwards it is simply ignored.
really strange behaviour but it shows that there IS a way to keep the camera app from grabbing keys...
I did it Application released soon!

Hardware Camera Key?

Hi, I have searched and can't seem to find a answer to this.
Looking for a way of mapping the volume keys to the camera button instead of having to use the on screen button. Think the screen would need flipping too...
Can anyone help?

Missing feature "hold for voice memo"

My old HTC p3300 provides an extra hardware button to start vioce dial or (if hold) to start recording a vioce memo.
The iolite does not have a special button for that feature (vioce memo). How can I set up my device to have the same funcion on a different button (does not matter wich one)?
I already have configured a hardware button to start a voice recording software, but I have to click on a software button ("record") to start a record.
I want to handle my device blind, without pressing any software buttons on the display.
If I press and hold a button, it should start recording at one.
Any idea?
Greetings

Maybe some software with command line option? Then you can make LNK, which could be set to HW button.

Only wake on one key press?

Is it possible to configure the HD2 to only wake on one of the hard buttons. Eg the on off button instead of all the buttons.
Might help with phantom calls.

Think there's a registry setting somewhere that changes WM to only wake on the "power" key. Google XDA for it... "wake on all keys" or something similar.
maybe HTC design this function can avoid the power button failure like iPhone's home button.
