MS Reader for O2 Mini/ I-mate Jam

Hi All,
Does anyone have MS Reader installed in their devices? My Mini didn't come with a Reader, so went and installed the latest version of Reader from the Microsoft site. But doesn't work properly. It doesn't appear properly in the Programs folder and when I click on it all I get is an error message.
Please help! Need to carry e-Books in my Mini.

Hi bree. I installed ms reader on my mini and it's working fine. I also downloaded it from msn. Maybe you should uninstall it, re-download the installer and try installing it again. HTH.

By any chance did you install it in the Card rather than main memory??
if so browse to the Reader folder in the Sd card and create a new shortcut. Then move this shortcut to the windows\start menu folder.
after this remember to move all the font files from the reader folder into the windows\fonts folder (or redirect the folder to another folder in sd card)
it should work... mine is!

I too had the same problem as Bree coz i had installed Reader to the Storage Card. But did the same things as said by ill-tempered and it worked fine from then on

Illtempered were you able to activate your MSReader after redoing the shortcut and moving the fonts. I redid the shortcut but did not move the fonts so i was wondering if i need to maybe move the fonts to activate. Thanks.

I had activated my old 2002 device and lost the activation file too... but anway

Same here. I too cannot activate MS Reader.
I tried to , from my PC after connecting my mini to it. But is said, device not found .

What if you place the Dll files in the reader directory back into windows??
sorry but I wont be doing this as I don't really need to activate it...

TyTN, WMP problems

Randomely, my TyTN will no longer add mp3s on my microSD card to the library. it will search for files, find them, and then freeze while adding to library. also i can no longer sync mp3s to the microSD using WMP on my PC. any solutions?

I have the same problem. The only solution seems to be to delete the MSMETADATA folder from the storage card and add the tracks again. I can't find any other way of fixing it.

Yip, This seems to be the standard way of dealing with this at present. For those that need a little more info:
Use native file explorer set it to show all files (hidden files) or use other file explorer to view hidden files,
Browse storage, delete hidden folder MSMETADATA,.
Update Library in WMP

I've used that fix a number of times but now it doesn't work...
I've now flashed a new Rom Schaps 4.3 and formatted my SD Card. Still no luck!!!! Argggghhhh....
The card shows up in the camera app as well as file explorer, however both media players don't recognise it.....
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.....

Did the problem occur immediately after flashing the Schaps Rom?
If it did then you may get more help asking in the Schaps 4.3 thread as it may be a Schaps registry setting or a change being loaded by a program in that ROM.

Ok....just sorted it out.....But to answer your question, it happened before I loaded Schap's 4.3, I was using TNT....Now...here's how it was sorted.
Normally I don't sync with Windows Media Player, I just copy the files over onto the SD card using a USB adapter (which incidentally sometimes screws up my media player and that's when I delete METADATA, but it's far quicker than copying through the phone)...The problem fixed itself when I ticked the button to sync media player...it rewrote another METADATA and I can now see the card once more......

I recently had the need to re-Rom a couple of Wallabies and loaded the A.30.09_ENG to do it. All went great and both T-Mobile units will now run like the wind on either T-Mobile or Cingular networks and from trial and error, I learned that they could both run the Kewlest Caller ID program that I have ever seen.
I was directed to pull it out of the Magician folders at ftp://xda:[email protected] and I did, in hopes of using it on my personal Hermes, but to no avail. It did however work great on my wife's Blue Angel, so I tried it on the Wallabies. Excellent Product!!!! Everyone with a Wallaby should be using it. It allows the owner to assign a different ringtone to each contact AND . . . here is the cool part . . . it allows you to use a different picture for each contact AND . . . AND . . . AND that image can be an animated .gif file. It is so much cooler than Photo Contacts in their current form. Check it out and enjoy.
And everyone else, sign in and ad your favorite tweak and toy or tool for the Wallaby and see if it isn't a bit happier in the pocket.

ok, sorry to be a bit of a n00b, but how do i put this on my wallaby? can i do it with a sd card or does it have to be via cable? and i cant see any installer type files, is that right??

ok another n00b question (apologies, i am very new to PDA's) but , how do i do it? is ther a folder i have to copy the files to, as ive tried to install another file and all it says is " there is no association with this file"

Then you haven´t installed a program on your device to install Cab-Files.

ok, have got myself a cable (makes life easier IMO) and installed the cab file thingie, have installed the above caller id ting ( apologies im not very technical!) but when i try to run it, theres a blank icon and it comes up with "cannot find photocontacts or one of its components make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required librabries are available" have i done somethig wrong??

It may be that you are running a version of windows that won't run it - or it needs to be re-installed (happens sometimes) because part of the program was installed on a (physically) defective portion of the memory. Wallaby's are getting old enough now to have rust on their internal components.

ok, i thought it might have been the OS as well, so i went and upgraded to WM2003, and fingerrs crossed, it seems to be working ( just need someone to ring now lol)
*edit* have set it all up with photos and ringtones etc, using wma from my card and from the phone itself, and it still plays the default ringtone and doesnt show pics when someone rings...am i doing summat wrong?

Ok, apologies if this is a dumb question from a relative newbie.
I found a thread to download "HTCustom 1.8 cab" (by Shadowmite), and need some help.

1. It's a year since it was posted, so is it still valid and a recommended download? I have read that amongst other things it will allow me to not have sim contacts listed as well as phone contacts, as well as improve the volume of incoming calls, so I am keen to try it out, as long as there is absolutely NO RISK FACTOR (I can make do without it!).
2. HOW DO I INSTALL IT? I save it to my desktop. It's a zip file which when opened presents me with the 3 files "HTcustom.000", "ooocab90.001", and "setup.xml". What do I do now???
Apologies, but I've always used activesync to install cabs so am not sure what to do in this case!
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If it is .cab so just copy it to your PDA and install it there.. don't extract the .cab

So... what part of it do I copy and where exactly in my pda do I put it? In My documents? On the Storage card?

It's not a zip, it's a cab, just that you have cab files associated with your archiver. Just copy the file to the device and tap it.

Doesn't matter for copying, install it to your device though!

I've installed it, it did warn me that it may not work with Windows Mobile 6.1, and it seems it doesn't. Doesn't work on my device anyway, whatever the reason...
When I attempt to select any tweaks and save it, it just says error and asks me to quit the program! I'll contact Shadowmite and see if there is a WM6.1 version.
All I really want is to NOT have SIM contacts appear as well as phone contacts (so suprised there is not an option.. what's the point in having duplicates???)
Also, apparently there is a fix out there that improves the volume of incoming calls?
Advice anyone?

It must have something to do with Framework. Do you have it installed?
As for the sound issue, do you have WOW SRS installed? If not, what's your ROM version?
Regarding SIM contacts, here!

Hi. I have few problems.
1. I don't know why I cant install any programs. I downloaded the programs and then moved to my phone storage sd, and then when I run setup file, it opens Opera Mobile, and then that's it, nothing happens. Any idea???
2. My SMS received time is always 4 hours behind. But sent time is correct. I've tried changing regional settings but no use.
3. Is there any way to change file views to Thumbnail view. I moved picture files to Storage SD, but files are not in Thumbnail view.
any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot.

If you download .cab installer, you don't need to extract file from .cab with winrar!
Just copy .cab on your phone memory and launch installation on your phone (double click on the .cab file in the phone file explorer)

1. What are you installing? Whats the extension .exe or .cab? Im not aware of any .exe installing from PPC, yet.
2. Might sync time with pc using ms activesync to see if that solves problem...
3. No way to change that, again as that I know of. If you want to look at pictures, maybe try to get HTC Album. Just do search....
