Bluetooth dongles - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I got a bluetooth dongle from ebay, but I can't use it with my 8125 because it doesn't use either of the com ports that the 8125 uses, and you can not set it to do so. The bluetooth software is BlueSoleil.
Do any of you have bluetooth dongles that you have working with your wizard? What are they?

PC BT software must support serial ports, Active sync must be enabled to use serial ports.
You will need to re-pair the devices to detect 'Active Sync' as the service on the 8125.

I'm using the AirNet ABT101 dongle--works like a champ. Cost me $20 bucks with a $15 rebate...can't beat it

I'm using a simple BT dongle and the BlueSoleil software. Works perfect.

Am using a D-Link dongle...actually, if u get ur BT drivers in Windows working correctly, you won't even need blue soleil...

There is nothing I hate more then Windows drivers
For everything, Lan, Wifi, Graphics, Sound Card I always use drivers from the manufacturer.

Windows BT drivers are pathetic
I have two airnet dongles. Something like 101 and 201, but I can't identify any functional difference. The price was great; $15 rebates on both bringing my delivered cost to $3 to $4 each. But the airnets come with this monster of a program that I don't want on my PC, and the windows XP drivers have the problem that every time the PC goes to sleep, they can't re-establish a connection. Oddly, the drivers on the MDA are fine -- the MDA can be turned off then on and reconnect fine, but the XP drivers, at least on my IBM X31s usng the USB dongle, require at a minimum a re-insertion and usually shut the PC off and on.
Overall, this was *way* too much trouble and I sync with a cable which has worked reliably for me, even through a D-Link USB hub. (That way I only need one USB cable connected to the laptop.)

Wizard and 3rd party BT

Hey all,
I have some generic BT dongle for my computer that I bought a year or so ago to use with my old HTC Typhoon. The dongle allowed my phone at the time to ActiveSync over BT using the BluSoleil software that came with the dongle. However, with the HTC Wizard (MDA vario body with the AKU 3.3), I cannot for the life of me sync over BT. I have no idea what I need to set up and every time I try and do a new "partnership" in the phone for syncing over BT - i select my computer in the devices, yet nothing happens. I cannot establish any COM port communication with the computer and the only type of services that i can push are the vCard from the computer and a "personal area network"...
HOWEVER, if I take my Wizard and connect it to my Thinkpad T60 laptop that has native BT; I can sync to my hearts content... so... someone please give me a clue as to wtf I am supposed to do here to get this to work over BT
Thanks!!!
Anyone? Plweeze?
C'mon, someone must have an idea!
Gave up
I had the same dongle, or at least mine also came with Blue Soleil. I hated that software - it runs a dozen different programs that clog the computer and still doesn't connect properly. I took it off and tried the native MS XP software. It would work once, but when I put the PC to sleep I would have to reboot to get it to connect again. I finally realized that it was much easier to use a cable and gave up. I'll try again when I get a PC with built-in bluetooth.

Where did you get the native XP software? I could never find the native software
Plug and Play
If you don't install software, XP will operate it.

Internet Sharing Hermes WM6

I'm trying to use my WM6 Black 8525 as either Bluetooth or USB modem. Cannot connect to my Thinkpad T60 laptop built-in Bluetooth as it only has Active Sync Bluetooth Service nor my Vista finds any devices that support PAN.
Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you in advance!
in vista do not try to get the modem over bluetooth working as pan. Do it as a dial up connection from the settings in internet explorer. On my hp I just partnered the bluetooth then went to add connection in ie. i found it with no trouble. I think it must be very dependant on the bluetooth stack on your pc. On my hp there is a process running called BTStackServer.exe that is doing it. On my dell this is not the case and it just will not work. In that case I use the wireless modem program built into the phone with a usb cable. following the instructions in help gets it to work fine.
I have also used the usb method on two xp desktops so it works just about everywhere.
With the pan, i think the problem with windows mobile devices is that they are acting in the same direction as a pc would. They are looking for a device, not acting as one. I bought a bluetooth dongle for one of my xp machines and installed the bluesolie software (stack?) and both ends showed the other as a pan device but both ends just waited for the other to expose their functionality until they timed out. i tried it with a hermes and a trinity.

WM6 see's Serial but not Activesync thru BT. FIXED

Ok I'm about to toss this bluetooth thing out the window. I got a BT adaptor and installed it all. Everything connects, and pairs, but I can't do anything. When I pair my computer to the pda I get 2 services. Wireless Stereo, and Serial. But sometimes serial switches to activesync. But once it says activesync and I go into activesync, it says no pc with activesync in around. So I refresh it and save it and it says the same thing. WTH am I missing. I'm a smart guy and I can't get anywhere with it. The best I can get is when I refresh my services the active sync light spins two seconds. I know the adapter works but theres just nothing to do.
OK I figured it out.
1st. I was using a Belkin 100m BT Adaptor. I installed the software and drivers. Then I uninstalled the software and just used the MS software with Belkins drivers.
2. The key seemed to be you needed to set up your com ports on Activesync and in the MS BT cofiguration BEFORE YOU PAIR!!!! This really seemed to be the problem.
Hope this helps another noob.

USB Teather with OSX

I want to Tether/Share my modem over USB not BT, Wifi, if its more relable then the BT connection would be fine to.
any suggestions?
Im on a Macbook running the latest and greatest.
I actually use the bt tethering as it is just as fast as USB and honestly using the usb on the mac for anything other than charging would be a headache. second you can keep your 6800 in it's holster and connect just fine as well. sorry i don't have more info but it does work very well IMHOP.
TY
Chris Wood
you will never be able to tether over USB because that requires a computer that recognizes that the HTC device is a LAN connection. and since the software was built for windows and the OSX drivers are not built in you cannot tether over USB
allright then maybe you can help me with my very unstable BT connection, 90% of the time im lucky to keep a data connection for most the 15mins until I get a unexpected error
This procedure works great for me, either with USB or over BT.

However it involves using a commercial program, but there is a free trial.

SyncMate --
It's free and works perfectly.
Not only will it let you sync all your phone info to your mac, it'll also let you mount it as a disc and even use the internet connection on your mac via usb.

Problems Bluetooth Sync'ing to laptop

I have a Vogue flashed with dcd 3.1.1 and I cannot pair a second bluetooth activesync. Basically it says the computer doesn't offer it as a service.
Since we had an extra device (8125 Stock) around we paired it up to the same laptop and found that it discovered the activesync service offered by the laptop. Although we found it discovered it as a "Pocket PC or Other PDA" where the XV6900 found it as a "phone or modem"
Between the two of us we have about 16 man hours into this ridiculous problem.
Is there any answer to how to get the Activesync service to be seen on the phone?
Funny thing is, this phone is already connected Via B/T on another laptop.
Which stack are you on? For me the Widcomm and toshiba bluetooth stack gave me the same problems as your having. I switched to the MS stack and now im connecting flawlessly for about a couple months now
MS Stack. But we've isolated it to the telephone.
hmm... weird...do you know if your usb driver is compatible with that stack? that might be an issue but I don't know because im not an expert :/
I don't think your phone can be paired to more than one computer at a time, so try unpairing from the other computer and and your phone delete the pair to your computer and delete your phone's pair on the computer, then try pairing from your handset first.
Lol, dunno if that makes a whole lot of sense x__x but doesn't hurt to try!
