Disable Landscape mode? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have trouble with the landscape mode activating when i take the Kjam out of the holder to answer a call. The magnets do not seem to hold the case secure enough to prevent the landscape mode from activating. Is there anyway to disable the landscape mode temporary? I use the keyboard very seldom and it would not be a problem to turn it back on if necessary.

it happens *only* when you get device out of the pouch, which is included in the box. it's caused by little magnets hidden in the pouch, which are holding pouch's cover. try to switch wizard on, put into pouch and then get it out. you'll see landscape mode screen switch without incoming call as well. quite annoying issue btw...
The only solution I've found so far, is to map a key to switch from landscape to portrait, and switch back straight away when it happens.
I've been scouring the forums for a few days in case there was a cab file to disable the mode switching so I could do it manually.
No joy though.
It should switch back on its own a few seconds after you take it out of the pouch.
Try inserting your phone into the pouch (screen facing your body)
It does return after a few seconds, but often the call has gone by the time it does, and the softkeys/answer keys muck around while its switching. with the landscape/portrait key set, hopefully the switch will be faster. (thats what I keep telling myself)

How come Wizard goes to Landscape mode by itself

this only happens sometimes....i usually carry my Wizard in my trousers' pockets, and when I take it out to use it, it is sometimes in landscape mode. As i understand it, to change it to landscape mode, you would normally need to push the keyboard all the way out and make it click at the end before it switches mode. So how can it change to landscape mode in my pocket? yes, i admit sometimes the keyboard has slightly slided out, but nowhere near fully out. Unless there are some key presses which turns it to landscape mode as well? Also, I always tap the power key to put it to standby mode, which I have set so that only the power key can turn it back on, and only to the password screen, so theoretically key presses are also out of question. but it's bugging me......
The trigger to landscape is just a magnet in the case and a switch. This is often noticed when sliding it out of the holster (the holster often has a magentic catch. I'd suggest you have something magnetic in your pocket but I'll leave it at that before I get misinterpreted.....

I use doublelauncher software. Using this program you can assign to hardware button this action: move the screen to landscape mode.
i've not assigned any buttons for toggling to landscape. But i tried the magnetic thing, and JoninLA is utterly right, it can be easily simulated. I have a piece of magnet in my keyring which i carry in my rather long overcoat where it may just reach over my pda in my trousers. and i also notice it even when i'm using the holster, which does have a magnet as well. thanks guys....i know what to look out for now. great stuff.

The fastest way for switching between Landscape and Portrait

Hallo!
Does anyone know the fastest and easiest way to change the display between Landscape and Portrait mode ?
Sometimes when I pickup my device from my Pocket, I notice that the display is on "Landscape" mode, but after I hold it in my hand it turns back to normal (Portrait mode), what causes that ?
Thanks in Advance!
I'm not sure what causes your phone to go into landscape when it's in your pocket but the easiest way to get it back (aside from sliding to expose the keyboard and closing it) is to assign one of your buttons to rotate your screen. In your buttons menu there is a "rotate" option. I changed my messaging button (Upper left corner) to rotate my screen when pressed.
If you use the original case that comes with the MDA VARIO sliding it out of the case causes this rotation. This happens when the PDA is active ( for example an incoming call ), the magnet in the case somehow causes the rotation when you pull it out.
Its weird, but many people experience it - I don't use the case at all and never had such problems.
If you can afford to lose a hardware button then you can assign either Rotate Screen Left or Rotate Screen Right to one through Start -> Settings -> Buttons
Thank you all for your helpful replies.
And yeah DREAMBOXER, you are right, I am using the case that came with the device... I never thought that the magnet causes that. OK is it bad and will harm my device with the time or it is just normal and nothing bad will happen if I continue using this case ?
it won't damage it
it's just the keyboard sensor is a magnet as well

How to disable landscape dialer mode in car?

Hello,
I have this problem from beggining of using HD2.
I definitely prefer to drive with HD2 in portrait mode. But if I plug car charger dialer goes in landscape mode. I use PLToggle to bring it back to portrait but it is not comfortable. For example if I have 10 calls during driving I need to rotate dialer manually 10 times... frustrating...
I searched all possible keys in registry but I can't find anything.
Is there a possibility to disable this landscape mode if car charger is plugged in??
I used few ROMs and of course in each of them dialer is always landscape...
I don't want use gsensor for auto rotate cause it is not comfortable in car...
What car charger do you have?
Original HTC. From HTC Kiaser but with switch to microUSB.
I have the same problem when using the HTC car holder. I want to remain in portrait mode, but the dialer always goes to landscape. I have tried to disable with BSB Tweaks, but no joy.
all suggestions welcome.

Accelerometer Auto-Rotate Issues

Has anybody experienced issues with turning the screen on and having whatever app you had opened last be in landscape mode?
Like I turned the screen off with the phone in portrait,, then laid the phone down flat on its back, not on any angle,, then turn the phone on and have the screen be in landscape mode.
This has so far happened a lot on texting and messaging apps.
If I have Messenger (stock SMS) open in Portrait and shut the screen off, then rotate to Landscape and turn the screen back on, it is in portrait, but immediately switches to landscape. It is not already in landscape mode.
I generally use Tasker to lock everything into portrait and use the Quick Settings toggle to turn autorotate on if needed for an app. Games that only work in landscape will override to landscape automatically when they launch.
Yesterday, i had the messenger app stuck in landscape mode. I couldn't make it go into portrait mode no matter what i did. I'm not sure how i got it to that state, but a reboot fixed it
