Changing user name / password for LAN file sharing - Networking

Hi everybody!
I have a little problem. I've set up a home network with a wireless router. I shared some folders on my PC so I can access the files from my Jamin.
So far so good, I managed to access the folders from PIE.
The problems started when I wanted to change user name and password. When I enter a network path PIE pops up a screen asking for user, password and domain. I made the mistake of checking 'remember password' box and now I can't get to this screen again so I can't change the login and access shares on my company network.
So how do I get explorer to ask for a password again? (without doing hard reset)
Or is there an app to manage this thing? I tried pocketLAN but it doesn't have this option.
Thanks in advance.

have yoy tried to look in the registry for key's about this?
had the same problem on accessing a website.
using regedit i found an entry in registry with the userid, deleted that entry and the next time i was asked for the password again.
hope this helpes

Actually, this is the first thing I tried.
Looked for the user name, then for computer name but all I got was the AS regs.
Maybe it was me, or the PHM reg edit.
Ether way, I solved it by changing the password, but if you fined that key again some time I would appreciate the info, and maybe someone else will two.
At least I learned my lesson: Never ever ever click the 'remember password box' darn M$. :x
Thank for the reply though.

i did a find of a userid which i used and found it in registry via the find options and a search in the entire registry.
it was found in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Activesync\Partners\.....
maybe this helpes?

Thanks for the effort, but this just kill the partnership to the PC. (Yep, tried it and was sorry).
So far changing the password seems to be the only solution (there are a couple more threads on similar issues).
Looks like another MS screw up.

Where are the hidden username/password settings!!?!

Ive been trying to find where i can change the username/password combination for a gprs or wap internet connection.
the only thing i can find is the initial prompt when i first dial the connection, but surely it can be changed at a later stage.
Does anyone know how to get into these settings?
passwords
i think these are server based passwords, not something a user can change. you will have your own security set up on your xda, the passwords used are login passwords
yes but i want to change them as my access passwords are different depending on which sim card i use.
I know, it is really annoying. If you select the option "Save Password", I couldn't find a way to change the password.
Either you may create another connection with different name having different username or password.
There is a way to find out the stored username.
Run a registry editor, and go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Comm->RasBook and look for your connection listed in the tree.
I believe the only way to reset the password is to remove the registry entry (or the modem entry in connection manager) and create a new connection, though I don't believe it to be a bright idea.
While on the subject, I discovered that if you delete the connection:
Settings->Connections->Modify->General Tab, the modem connection neither gets deleted nor is displayed. If you try to create another modem connection of the same name, it just says that modem already exists, but does not show up.

How to clear Mobile IE stored password?

Hi all!
Got some problem with the Mobile Internet Explorer. Under some conditions it asked me for the passord for the internet proxy of corporate network, and unfortunately, I have checked the checkbox to store the password.
Now, I can't neither change nor delete it. And, finally, the password is wrong. As a result, I got "password wrong" message, but the password dialog don't appears.
Question: how to clear any stored IE password?
if you have a registry editor on your pda, you could try to look for your password or the url or the website in the registry..
delete the entry and the next time you visit the website it will ask for your password again.
I've tried, but no success so far...

CINGULAR GPRS

I am wondering where the password information is stored for the cingular gprs settings. I am not asking how to enter the settings into the dialogues, rather where in the registrythe password info is stored.
I am aware of the settings located at these two locations...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}]
and
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\My ISP GPRS]
Exporting/importing these restores everything but the username/password info. What I am trying to do is save the settings so I will be able to more quickly restore them after a hard reset, which I do often because I am constantly playing with different roms.
or... is there already a premade cab file that will install the needed settings including cingular's generic username/password?
and for that matter, where is the password stored for activesync? After I import a reg file I have on my phone, I have all the activesync info properly entered except for the password.
I realize these are one time items to have to enter, but it would certainly make system rebuilding go a bit faster...
I hope you managed to get this far into this rather overly verbose essay.
found it.
hell yes:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Security\CredMan\Creds]
I am cool.
Okay, the question I have then is how did you figure it out, and more importantly, how do you know which key is associated to which connection?
Some crappy registry snapshot program
It is called ssnap, that coupled with a program called idiff, I was able to discover changes made to the registry after doing something (check/uncheck something, enter a setting, etc...)
http://s-k.al.ru/wince.html
If anyone knows a better program than these rather primitive monsters, please let me know. I am looking for something similar to installwatch for the PC by Epsilon Squared.
Those settings did not work anyway. That was definately the location where the settings were stored, but they must be coupled with something else. I was able to install and uninstall the username/password by setting/removing those registry entries, but after a hard reset, they did not work anymore.

Auto Login failed

After a wrong login to my router (unluckily i checked the box for remembering the password) i do not get the loginscreen again (as it should be). I get directly the message that this username/Password is wrong.
After hours of searching i didnt find a way to delete the wrong loginvalues inserted before.

Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi
You should have a list of the previously established SSID's. Tap and hold on the one in question to bring up the secondary menu, and pick either edit or delete.
Obviously, if you tap delete, you will need to set it up from scratch. If it's just the password you messed up on, edit should be enough.

How to recover Wifi password from ppc???

I forgot my Wifi password, and I wish to recover it--- my Touch HD uses the wifi and it has the password, but how to get it from HD
This password is the thing which keeps me from updating my ROM for 2 weeks now!!!!
bump!!!! --- cmon people - someone must know
might seem silly, but why not just log into your router and change the password? then you'll know what it is
I cant -- I dont know my routers password either!!!! I was given wifi password but I lost the note with it!!--- and I cant reset my router cuz the router has some special "data" in it which makes it operate a bit diferently (give privileges and block some unwanted traffic) !!!
So any program, or which is the file on which the wifi password is held - then I could just back that file up!!!!

would not know how to get the password but you can export the settings and the password
use RAPIConfig
(you use it on your PC when your phone is connected with ActiveSync)
edit the rapiconfigin.xml to look like so;
Code:
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<characteristic-query type="Wi-Fi" recursive="true"/>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
and run the batch, that will export all your WiFi settings to rapiconfigout.xml
which you can convert to a .reg file (or a CAB, etc) and import after any flash
bit of a long shoot, but you can also try something like this, see if anything works through "My Mobiler" or naively on PPC
hope that sets you on the right path
ignore""""
ok ppl - listen i try the method Sir.B suggested,,, but when I open rapiconfigout.xml file -- in the password field it still shows asterisks (*) it cant see my password!!!, someone please help!!!
