I can connect to my wifi network, ping everything dns, gateways, routers, and move files, but I.E. just stalls saying connecting. Started after I added a2dp? Anyone?
Hi sely!
Try doing a hard reset and try to connect with IE using default settings without any proxy servers. Then try an alternative browser like netfront or minimo and check if it has the same problem. If it doesn't it's probably some kind of IE fault.

I have a belkin router. It works well with several laptops.
I can connect to it with my JASJAR and get an IP address.
If I sync pop3 email it uses WIFI and works as expected.
If I sync journal bar it uses WIFI and works as expected.
However if I try to use internet explorer it alway tries to start a GPRS session and refuses to work through WIFI. Why??
Ive sent hours trying every setting I can find.
Anyone have any suggestions? :?:

At least your Wifi network doesn't crash as soon as u connect the JJ. Mine doesn't even get that far...
Anyone who can help???
Hmmm I wonder if this is something in the Telstra settings Cab.
Re those having problems all on Telstra?
Might try a hard re set and then manually build the settings.
Jon
Try de activating the phone. this allows you to use IE via your wireless router.
Tried that, thanks.
I just get the "Cannot Connect" message and if I dismiss it. Nothing!
However I can sync the weather without getting the "Cannot Connect" box. SO the WiFi is working, its just that Explorer can see it.
Im running the O2 UK firmware and it works fine (auto gives prefernce to the WiFi if I am in range, try loading on the genuine Imate firmware.

I know how you feel. I can't get wifi to work. Heck, I can't even use IE when synced to the computer via USB
Have you tried messing with the settings in start/settings/connections/connections?
I finally got it working.
You have to chose the "Telstra Internet" setting in Network Managment.
Its in Settings, Connections, Advanced, Select Networks, select "Telstra Internet".
I then did, Settings, Connections, Manage existing connections, Modem, and set it to "Auto"
It uses the WiFi first and then only uses GPRS if there is no WiFi.
Hope this helps someone else !

Can anyone help me with just getting my JJ connected to the wifi network without crashing the router?
Have you tried turning off any encryption etc and re booting the router.
Then try to connect at the most basic level?
Now I'm totally confused
I don't know what is going on!
I have finally managed to use IE via Activesync, using "Telstra Internet" as my My network connects to...
I tried again to hook up to the wifi network. The router is connected to my desktop via a physical cable, and my tablet pC is connected wirelessly (my JJ syncs with the tablet). I turned to tablet off, and then connected the JJ to the desktop wirelessly. On the desktop, I am no longer able to connect to the internet, but for some reason, the JJ is able to connect to the internet
But, even if I disconnect the JJ from the network, my desktop is unable to connect back to the internet until I reboot the router. What does this all mean????
I have the same issue with my MDA Pro! i done even have the sutp option in the modem settings. I can connect to my belkin router with encryption but no response when in IE!
Anyone else got any other suggestions?
I'm beginning to think that nobody has a solution to such connection problems. Is there any hope on the horizon? Any chance of something being sorted out by MS?
BTW, how well does BT syncing/internet connection work?
Ok frustration rising.
I can connect to my Belkin wireless router with no problems but I can only log onto the router and not browse the internet!
I have checked that the proxy is not configured.
Anyone got any ideas?
Nope
Okay, I am currently using a Samsung i730 with WM5.
Since I got it, the internet has been perfect via Wi-fi with EVDO blocked off. About a week ago, when I tried to use the internet, I would always type in an address and get this:
"The address is not valid. Please check the address and try again."
I've read other people had some similar problems but did not find a solution. Please someone help me? I don't want to use another browser other than Pocket IE.
Thank you
if you under connections have picked my network in both the dropdownbox's rather then my isp
and it still does it
i would look into
the ms network tools
and try ping and the likes
or connect to activesync with usb or bluetooth and see if that grant
internet access
could also be that the router have mac filtering and dont include the wifi's mac address
Thanks for the help.
I tried everything and still not working. Now it is even worse. The Wi-Fi won't even connect to the internet for other problems anymore.
I guess my only option is a hard reset. A hard reset would erase everything right? Also, where would I hard reset? Is it the small hole I need to push a paper clip into?
Got WAP54G Wifi Router, set it up on WEP - Wii connected with ease, but getting the XDA to connect is a steaming pile of poo.
Hi,
I tried to connect my tytn to my wifi network for the first time yesterday, and couldn't get any web pages to load.
I was connected to the router, and had an IP address assigned by DHCP, but whenever I tried to load any pages in IE, it sat at 'locating' for ages and then errored.
I thought nothing of it and thought I'd give it another try later. But since then, I get the same problem when I try to browse via activesync. The device syncs properly and is connected, but I can't load any web pages.
My first thought was a DNS problem so I've tried setting some static servers but I'm not getting anywhere. I tried 'Microsoft Network Analyzer' which gives me ticks in all the tests (even the one where it pings www.microsoft.com, when I can't browse to there).
I'm now thinking that when I'm connected via activesync it's still trying to use the wifi connection somehow (even though it's turned off). In the network adaptors, wifi is set to DHCP but has an ipv6 address in the box under static IP (odd, as my router doesnt use ipv6).
I'm pretty lost now. I could do a hard reset but I've got a feeling I'd end up in the same place when I next try to get wifi to connect at home.
Any ideas?

Check your connection settings. Some carriers have proxies enabled for your GPRS connection. If you have proxy active, you will not be able to connect through a router. AT&T does this, for example.
Yep, that was it!
My GPRS was set up under 'My Work Connection', and had a proxy server. I disabled the proxy and activesync started working.
So I completely cleared out the 'My Work Network' connection, and added a new one for my providers GPRS which made activesync work. I then set the preferred networks to Work first, then GPRS second, and everything works.
Thanks
Found the problem!
This problem was being caused by the Blackberry Service on my device. In further investigation I discovered that whenever the Media Net connection goes stagnant the Blackberry connection would reestablish & try to check for new emails. The new BIS connection would change my IP to communicate with our Enterprise Server & of course subsequently, Media Net was killed. When I would try & re-establish my logmein connection it would report the new IP which was hung on Blackberry instead of being reset by Media Net & would report as Mismatched for security reasons.
The solution:
Whenever I need to do some work on my desktop remotely I now suspend the Blackberry Service & have now had no problems with logmein, even through reconnects.
Thanks for all the IM's & emails, there were some interesting ideas

For years I used logmein with verizon's network without problem. But now I'm AT&T & every time my connection resets I get an error stating "Mismatched IP Address" causing me to have to shut down PIE & start over again.
I have read about a broken proxy fix meant for other client laptops & pc's. I have imported my own"broken proxy" reg.value into logmein security registry settings on my Kaiser. However, every time I lose connection, I still have to start over. Anyone else have this error before?
I'vd tried everything I can think of. Any help?
Thx!
i believe it has to do with using wifi instead of edge/3g. I had the same problem when i logged on with edge and then tried to access my computer with wifi after already logging in to the system. I dont know of this will help but i just relogged in and accessed the pc using the same connection type.
negative, it happens using 3G, edge, gprs, etc.
I thought maybe I could enter an IP in connection settings but then I can't connect period.
Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I'm getting the same error message on my HTC Touch HD (Win Mo 6.1) - any ideas as to how the specified solution could be applied to my device?
Thank you.
I experience a very strange behaviour in my eyes and did not yet found a solution here.
Conditions:
-WinMo 6.1 on SE XPERIA X1 using different cooked ROMs, maybe also the official ROM
-automatic SE or manual connection setup used for t-mobile DE
Error characteristics:
-data connection itself (GPRS connection either on 2G or 3G network) is active
-applications can't connect to any site (opera, htc weather, quickgps)
-but if IP addresses are used instead of names then connections to a web-site are successful (A direct IP address http://209.85.129.132/ does work, but not http://www.google.de/ e.g.)
-the error is somehow reproducible, but it can not exactly figured out under which condition it appears
-the error stays after power off or soft reset, only flashing the rom new helps
-the error does start after a while (hours/days)
-the error seems to be somehow in conjunction with switching network type between GPRS, WLAN and using the Internet connection of a PC connected with ActiveSync, but there is no unambiguous correlation distinguishable when the error starts
solutions:
-my first idea was that DNS service on the X1 is somehow not working, so I used openDNS specific adresses for the DNS server instead of the server-assigned addresses, but the error stays
I hope you have any ideas for me?
confirm error by my Xperia
Hello yesterday i posted the same error by a rom Thread,

Hi everybody,
I have exactly the same problem with o2 Germany. I tried it with the open dns servers but still the same network error occurs... Has anybody solved this?
Hello,
I have a similar problem when I'm using for my wifi static ip and manually settings for DNS. At home I'm using static ip settings for my wifi, so after i closed my Wifi connection on the Blackstone my Opera at GPRS/3G connection will not disolving the URL like www.google.de but when I'm using the IP it works fine. My workaround is to delete the static IP settings and the entry for DNS and the the desolving of the URL is working.
problem solved

thanks bieza, that worked for me as well . i had only static IP (with auto DNS) for WiFi, and dns was failing for cellular connection (EDGE). changed wifi IP back to auto, and problem fixed.
interestingly, when DNS was not working for EDGE, i could use ICS as usual. i was browsing on PC, but due to DNS problem nothing was working on the same phone.
it's a touch (ELF 64/128) running on ONYX 4.6.
