Hi All,
running O2 Atom with latest ROM.
The GPRS connection is set up. It works fine when I use mChat or Opera; but IE and Spb Weather do not connect. I open IE, try to open some page, the connection establishes.. and that's all. Page doesn't open with timeout. I open Opera then and it works - with the same connection.
Both IE and Spb go well through ActiveSync conection.
What is it?

Jasjar Pocket IE (and Terminal Server Client) will NOT use existing WiFi connection yet other 3rd party Applications have no such problem!
MS Pocket IE (and MS Terminal Server Client) always tries to use GPRS connection and if I turn flight-mode on, it fails altogether rather than use an existing WiFi connection.
The following applications work fine over WiFi suggesting my network setup is OK:-
AvantGo Client Connect Updates
Weather Panel Updates
Opera Browser v8.5 Beta
My home WiFi hub is a Linksys WRT54G. Works fine with my old XDA II by the way.
Are there any Registry settings I need to change :?:
I have tried searching Tweaks2K2.net for a solution but no luck.
The alternative is that you could connect to your WIFI with your EXEC first and then open PIE. That is the procedure I follow. Click on the icon next to the signal bars on the top bar and you will be presented with a pop up window. Click on Connect to WIFI and after done, open PIE or Netfront and surf using WIFI.
Cheers, Vikas.

Thanks Vikas for your reply.
Sorry, but it was of little help..
Yes, I have a tower-like Icon with to and from arrows showing an existing WiFi connection. The Connectivity Dialog Box that appears when I click the Icon only gives option to "Turn off Wi-Fi", Jump to "Settings" or to "Hide" the dialog. It also shows the WiFi connection name and a bar graph showing connected signal strength.
When I hide the dialog then click on Start->Internet Explorer it shows a start page:
file://\windows\default.htm
If I click on a link on this page e.g. "club i-mate", I get a "connecting..." progress bar at the bottom of the screen shortly followed by a connection Dialog saying it is trying to connect to GPRS, 3G that I must cancel because it costs $0.02 per Kbyte! No page loads.
If I use Opera Browser, it uses the WiFi link and pages appear as expected.
Clear as mud :?:
I guess the O2 Exec ROM is OK but the i-mate Jasjar ROM has problems on my device. Easy money for Opera guys, they scored my US$29...
Any tips? I'm sure I have everything set up perfectly, but it just won't download any web pages. Is there something i'm missing?
I can download my e-mails fine (Hotmail, and IMAP) but can't get any web pages open using eather IE or Opera.
Cheers
Try disabling proxy on your GPRS/EDGE connection first (take note of the settigns first). I haven't been able to do anything using Activesync Passthru.
It was allready disabled.
I've just done a hard reset, and it still won't connect with a fresh Activesync connection. Any ideas?
ACTIVE SYNC AND INTERNET
Under options in ACTIVE SYNC---you have to have THIS COMPUTER CONNECTS TO INTERNET .
Thanks, but it's allready ticked.
Anything else?
hi!
Use tweaks2k2.net or any other program that enables the browser pass as IE 6.0.. just try
ACTIVE SYNC AND INTERNET
I've also had problems if my OUTLOOK inbox is set to my POP MAIL ACCOUNT (YAHOO). When I check outlook mail for some reason it connects.
Also--what are your connection settings to get to INTERNET for your GPRS and WORK settings unrelated to active sync?

hi
Well, matheprat im just guessing if this is right... but i have encounter this problem wherein i can't load any web page on my ppc..theres an option on tweaks2k2 where you can chage PPC IE as IE 6.0 Well It will not totally chage but it will make your browser pass like an IE 6.0.. just try and let me know if you've done it
Thanks for the reply. I tried doing the above, and there's no change, I still can't connect. Every time I connect the PPC to Activesync I get a message saying that it's unable to find a server assigned IP. Ive tried using a specific IP (my computers), and leaving it to obtain one from the server, but neither work. When it was connecting before, i set it to obtain an IP from the server.
I also can't update the weather info for SPB Pocket Weather, but I can check e-mails (hotmail and IMAP), and sign into MSN on the device.
k!!
k!!
Can someone please help me.
A few days ago, I was unable to send and receive mms messages because my settings were incorrect.
How can I have this phone set so that MMS works correctly, but my WIFI and programs like Agile will connect to the internet using gprs?
I'm on cingular 8125
ok, i kinda figured out whats goin on...
it's not connecting to the gprs when i launch the program... if i happen to send a photo and the phone is connected gprs, then agile will connect.
is there a way to make agile just connect to gprs when you launch the program?
I find that opening IE then letting it auto connect to GPRS then opening agile is the best method. Its what I do. But if there is a command to make a program auto connect to web id like to know it.
Under Settings->Connecitions->Connections->Advanced->Select Networks
What options do you have chosen?
the way i fixed the problem is by using the registry wizard and turning gprs always on... so far it's working good.
if for some reason it doesn't connect, i do the trick listed before and connect to the internet, then agile.

Hi all,
Ok, let me be stright forward. Is there any methods to automaticly disconnect GPRS connection AFTER certain datas being downloaded into our PPC?
Let's say that I use Opera Mobile software to surf the internet via my PDA, and after my browser finished opening and downloading a page, I want the GPRS connection be disconnected. Manually I tap the "G" icon on topbar and tap disconnect option. Now, what if I want to set it automaticly, is there any possibilities???
Sorry for the bad english!
Best Regard,

Daniel Herrero BandSwitch v 2.4.3
Just Google it. I think it's perfect.
There is also option in Schaps Advanced Configuration v2.1.0.0
in connections tab
Can't google Daniel Herrero BandSwitch v 2.4.3. Google show me 2 vietnamese page, with no link...
Let's try Schaps'
Here you go.....Works great
GB-soft tweak for wm5 (works also in wm6 and up)
http://www.gb-soft.cz/XDAII/product_gprs_tweak_wm5pe_en.htm
Actually the above will only disconnect after the app is closed....Done using opera and you close it then it will automatically disconnect. May not be what you are looking for exactly
