Omapclockplus v0.0.4 continuous overclocking for your wizard - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Thanks to Tom Gech (the author) for posting this on the overclocking thread. Omapclockplus is a small executable addon to omapclock.exe. It is free, the register dialog means register to omapclock.exe to add a notification in the notification queue.
I thought this was worthy of its own thread as many seem to have problems with contiuous overclocking using the notification method and the current instablility of the omapscalar method or those that don't use smartskey.
Omapclockplus basically does the same as with the notification queue method but uses an executable to set up a notification to resume overclocking after standby. FINALLY NO NEED FOR THE MEMAID METHOD TO SETUP NOTIFICATION.
I put together a cab that will install all the necessary executables and links for continuous overclocking. After install start the omapclockplus program choose overclocking speed (test speed stability using omapclock consule first) and register i.e. it registers the program to omapclock.exe. Soft reset and your done. There is a slight delay if you manually put into standby - you have to wait 10 secs before you resume - that is the only small glitch but should not be a problem when using the device normally. The cab also installs omapclock.exe so there is no other installation needed.

The source of the program is here http://www.nicque.com/PQz/
Copy cab to device through activesync, click on the cab through file explorer on the device, register omapclockplus at 180 and then soft reset. (IF OMAPCLOCKPLUS DOES NOT REGISTER AFTER THIS TRY POWER OFF THEN POWER ON RATHER THAN SOFT RESET) Then test for stable speed through omapclock consule before registering at higher speed. DO NOT UNZIP THE CAB - IT INSTALLS FOR YOU.
N.B. If you have a previous version of omapclock/omapscaler installed on your device please uninstall it and soft reset device. Some people are having problems with the install of omapclockplus because of residual links etc.. on their device. Please ensure all other links/notifications etc.. are removed before install of this cab.
N.B.B. Remember to uninstall omapclockplus you must click unregister through the omapclockplus program before uninstalling the cab. (otherwise the notification will remain in the queue)
EDIT New version with adjustable clock speed available v0.0.4
NOTE: FIND A STABLE SPEED TO OVERCLOCK USING OMAPCLOCK BEFORE REGISTERING WITH OMAPCLOCKPLUS! - As some are having problems finding a safe overclock speed (causes a lockup/looping of device) - I suggest registering at 180 then slowing increasing speed through omapclock consule to find a safe speed before registering at that speed.
CAB ONLY WORKS ON WWE ROMS
For those with non-wwe roms and others having difficulty installing with the cab - use manual installation zip and instructions here http://www.nicque.com/PQz/OmapClockPlus.htm
To remove the omapclock notification if you forget to unregister omapclockplus before uninstalling or if you want to check the notification is present use omapclockremover - unzip and copy exe to device.
For Wm Smartphone devices that have an omap processor - typhoon etc.... use the manual installation zip but substitute omapclockplus from Omapclockplus_wm_smartphone.zip.

thx man. Great add on and nice cab made installation a lot easier

Hi meschle,
Thank you very much.
so, OmapClockPlus is compiled for WM2005 and the app's dialog is fitted on QVGA screen.
if need to compile for WM2003. I will do it (but I can't test cause I only have HTC Wizard.)
cheers,
tom

No problem tom - one question on my device it did not overclock on startup only on resume from standby, so I added a 240Mhz startup link. On your device does it overclock from startup i.e. after soft reset of the device?

Hi meschle,
On my device, it looks same as like yours.
chy,
tom

Hello
I wanted to know if you would use this in tandem with the Scalar program that's also out or if you would use one (which one?) over the other.

If you want constant overclocking say at 240Mhz then use omapclockplus or omapclock and the notification method to resume from standby. If you want to alter omapclock speed to go with the load on the device then use the scalar program.

overclocking
hi mark.sorry about those questions but i hope you'll have patiance with me:
1.is overclocking(the cab you made) good with the tmobile mda(us)?
2. will doing so void my warrenty?
3.does it drain the battery much faster?
4.does the extra speed make a big diffarence?
5. do i need to unlock my device to do overclocking or i can used tmobile brand device?
thank you so much!

1. Yes it should be fine with your device
2. Yes it will void warranty but most of us have had no problems at all with it running at 240Mhz.
3. Only small increase of battery drain at 240Mhz
4. Extra speed does make a real difference - could not go back to the standard speed.

It works perfectly for me. I saw a large increase in speed, both perceived and benchmarked.
Whenever I tried OMPScaler, it would randomly reboot during standby. This one works just fine.
Great job.

Hmm interesting - sounds like you did everything correct - check on your device through file explorer in \program files\omapclock directory - you should have omapclock.exe, omapclockplus.exe and omapclock.lnk.
Looks like for some reason you have a missing omapclock.exe. Did you have omapclock installed before? as it needs to be completely uninstalled including the notification in the queue if you set it up.

I use the smartskey program and it has a feature to automatically overclock the processor both at startup and after hibernating. Is this program useful for me at all?

Yes you can overclock via the smartskey method - check the smartskey thread or overclocking thread for instructions.
You may find using the above cab a simpler solution.

My install doesn't stay registered after a reboot. Also it clocks back to default after it goes to sleep and doesn't overclock back on resume. Ideas?

On mine it has always stay registered - not sure where the key is to make it stay registered perhaps tom (the author) can help there.
It takes 10-15 sec wait before you can resume after a suspend - does it still not overclock after automatic suspend and then resume? Did you have omapclock installed before or smartskey?

Maybe I should make a new simple application to check OmapClockPlus is registered or not.
so, I would like to know that OmapClockPlus dialog's message after a reboot.
(OmapClock is already registered.)
or
(OmapClock is not registered.)
thank you
tom

I just tried this out...Omap starts up just fine...I can manually put it into suspend and bring it back up and it still stays at 240. But, if I let it go into suspend automatically, then try to bring it up, it goes back to default speed.

[new release] VJSmallIcons II - "Programs" view

Guys, this is an update to my old program VJSmallIcons. To say it's long overdue is an understatement
This version retains and persists settings between folders. It can also make the Programs launcher fullscreen. When you go fullscreen, there is a menu option to permit navigation back up to the previous folder.
On a whim, for no good reason at all, I've also implemented my interpretation of the Vista View Mode slider, as seen here in Vista.
The slider can be used to toggle modes. Even if you don't need the app, try the slider! I quite like it  Hopefully you'll see this again in VJSihaya.

nice unlike the first one, this one works on my device %)
the slider's a bit silly, I suppose, but kinda cute
( are you supposed to be able to drag it? only seems to respond to taps )
However... I just got stuck in a subdir :x VJSmallIconsII disappeared, and tapping 'OK' (which normally goes a dir up) did nothing. Not sure what I did to get in that state. Edit: Found it, check follow-up posts
and a suggestion... the 'go up one level' bit, perhaps it should carry the name of the level above, instead of the current level?
bug report.. if you run it twice, you will seemingly just be using VJSmallIconsII as normal. But changing any of the modes does nothing. If you exit it, it becomes apparent that you were already running it a copy of it - as that instance with its view (which changes correctly) is still there.
btw - nice UI (not sarcasm.. it really is nice!)
whewps.. now it locked up my device >_< I'll try and repro
yay repro
I have PHM PPC Powertoys installed, so I have a dir structure...
"\Program Files\PHM Tools\PHM PPC Powertoys\"
from a fresh boot:
1. Start > Programs (required first-run)
2. Start > VJSmallIconsII (in program history, still)
3. Start > Programs > PHM Tools > PHM PPC Powertoys
4. Tap VJSmallIconsII floater
result: floater disappears
expected result: pop up menu should appear
at this pont everything still seems fine - you can navigate around, etc.
5. Tap OK button
result: nothing happens, you're stuck at this level
expected result: should go up a level
-----
With MagicButton running - Steps 1-4
5. Tap (MagicButton) OK button
result: device locks up
expected result: should go up a level
-----
I don't know if it's the length of the folder name, or the fact that there's two spaces, or... etc. Can't keep poking at it right now
ZeBoxx: Many thanks.
I'll look into the hang. That's not when you're running it twice is it?
It's hanging because it's subclassing the Programs screen, and if for some reason VJSmallIconsII crashes, it'll take the Programs screen down with it.
It does contain code to detect multiple instances, but it occurs to me that because of the way the window is created it's probably not being detected. I didn't contemplate it being run twice I'll fix that!
Yes, slider responds to taps not sliding  Not sure if I'll fix that! At least for now, it's just GUI...
The folder name - good idea, although it's basically for showing what the current folder name is, if you've got it in fullscreen mode and can't see for yourself. I don't mind incorporating either way, whichever you guys think is most logical.
Bug is confirmed with PHM (I have a similar folder structure). I'll look into it when I get home.

Probably doesn't matter - the hang is just when using MagicButton, so I suspect it's because it's using a different method to 'close' the window?

What os is this supposed to work with? I put it on my 2002 devices and no go. I don't like to try unfinished stuff on the newer phones that I actually use (as phone).
This is a bit off topic....
vijay555, your programs alway seem so slick. You obviously put a great deal of work into them. My question is, why spend so much time on programs that help the user interact with the device when the there is a lack of programs that provide real usefull functionality. I am not critisizing any of you projects, more just pointing at what I see as a lack of things to actually do with a ppc once you have it working.
Hey unable to download this app from your site!
OdeeanRDeathshead: not sure about 2002. It's been tested on Emulator, WM2003SE and WM5. I don't have any 2002 devices to test it on.
Either way, I'd suggest waiting about 45 mins so I can get the buffer overflow bug fixed.
Re the offtopic: I've got a lot of new stuff to write, but for me, I do a lot of playing around mainly as an offshoot of reading. For this app: I wanted to make an app to hide reminders. Thus I wanted an app to remodel the reminders. Thus I wanted to change the button style of the dismiss all button. As a result I thought I'd try the same on the Programs window. It was semi-useful (I never use Programs), so I released VJSmallIcons. I know one guy who used it - it's a small market
Next I'm working on VJToggleToday II. For that, I needed to make a subclassing routine. It was easier to debug that in VJSmallIcons II. So I wrote the subclasser as reusable code.
At the same time, I got interested in owner drawn menus for a TV Listings app I wrote on the PC in VB, which I want to move over to the PPC eventually:
So I experimented with owner drawn menus, and then for no good reason the slider.
So circling back, the subclasser will be re-used in VJToggleToday II, which is a useful app, and the slider will reappear in some form in VJSihaya.
I don't really have time to write "big" apps like a word processor etc. I write what interests or distracts me, or is otherwise being used for research. It's a hobby My stuff is mostly for my own use, or research, but some of it occassionaly might be useful to the wider world, which is why I release it publically. But there are a myriad of bugs and issues in the Phone OS which I like to address for my own use, eg why does it take so many clicks to start a new calendar entry? Why can't we add numbers to existing contacts? If it bothers me enough, I look into my own solutions, more as an academic exercise.
Phew, time for lunch
V

Not a bad idea, but I believe that there is a newer version of iFonz. Also, my personal favorite is actually iTask since it it much smoother than iFonz (I know it is flash, but...)
Other than that, not a bad idea!
Good Idea
I'm really impressed, but you make it, that the user can select the programs he like, e.g. I don't need another Explorer then Resco... So TotalCommander as well on my device would waste space...
Good job, go on!

1)The dialer could have been an Iphone similar variant
2)A bit slow.

ya it was a bit slow so i uninstalled it, i havent overclocked mine as i want to save battery
ill just install the apps manually unless i get a tilt or something more powerful
Good program
I also installed a modified version of nargus(?) iphone similar dialer.it works well,so it might not be hard to integrate.
Mine is stock I think, that might be the reason it's slow.If you can add in the latest battery status which can overclock on demand to keep battery use under check.
One last question, where can I find the programs folder?I know of the file explorer, but it's hard to find the programs by going to root of install.Like WMstorage5,Seagee etcI have a feeling I am missing something
But I have to admit, its a good work.

This is an old version. Get the new one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3837186
Hi again,
it's time to release a beta of the next version of TouchWatch.
This utility is in beta status. Please report bugs into this thread. Thank you.
Requirements:
WM5 or WM6
.NET Compact Framework 3.5
1.5MB free RAM
Features:
up to 6 timers or stopwatches
landscape support
d-pad support
should work on all screen resolutions (VGA,QVGA,WVGA etc.)
use your own notifications sounds
Usage:
The usage is very simple. Just use fingertips to start or stop a timer (d-pad action). If you want to reset a timer, hold down your finger for 500ms (d-pad action for 500ms). To modify the settings of a timer, tab on the left side icon and the settings will open (d-pad left).
The top notification bar is showing radio strength, battery status, bluetooth status, wireless status and some other informations. Tab on the left side of the top bar to open the main settings screen (or use north gesture, d-pad right). To hide the application click the middle part of the top bar (or use south gesture). To close it click the right side of the top bar.

Installation:

If you get an error that some DLL is missing: This can happen with some ROMs. Extract and copy the files located in the "TouchWatch2 DLLs.zip" into the "\Programs\TouchWatch2" directory and maybe TouchWatch will execute.
Version History:
2.01b:
* Added an option to select between application- or standard taskbar.
* Fixed bug: Font directory not found at startup (DirectoryNotFoundException).
2.0b:
* First beta release.

hi thanks for sharing
Is it fo VGA only or QVGA also ? and is it going to work on my hd also ? (WVGA)
Great App! Absolutely love it and use it daily!
2 things:
1) When my phone goes into stand-by, the alarm does not go off - just a quiet vibration.
2) The top bar is very, very tiny. It's impossible to click the area to minimize or close the app.
Suggestion: Add soft-keys on the bottom bar, like Menu (close; minimize; about) and Settings on the other side.
I'm using it on:
Sprint HTC Touch Pro; WM6.1pro; VGA screen
thanks a bunch! Great Work!!!!

It's designed to work on all resolutions. But it's only tested in emulators. Please report your reesults here.
No problem for me, just working fine on trinity except the fact that's it's for wwe rom, the cab doen't put the fonts in the "police" folder on my french rom so it made an error. I created a Fonts one to put the .ttf and all works fine. Thanks for sharing.
On my Tytn2 with WM6.1(HTC dutch Rom) it doesnt even start.
I get the following error:
DirectoryNotFoundException
I do have Net CF 3.5 installed.
Won't start on a Touch 3G - it reports "An unexpected error has occurred in TouchWatch2.exe" and "This application requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on the device." - which is very unlikely given that this is a brand new handset from HTC with ROM dated October 2008 ?
Congratulations for TouchWatch application! Like it over G-Watch for one main reason, I was able to minimise it to do other stuff.
I'm running it in a TyTN II. Works great.
I've some suggestions:
1. Put icons over the top three locations (Main settings, minimise and close). Users don't need to guess what to do next once they launch the application and they don't read instructions .
2. Increase the size of the two icons signifying timer and stopwatch (older people like me with poorer eyesight have difficulty distinguishing which is which).
3. Or put the words Timer and Stopwatch above the icons.
4. Possibility to change the background of the application (best is to use three colour slider).
Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Please try the following:
Download, extract and copy the files located in the "Touchwatch2 DLLs.zip" into the program folder of TouchWatch2 (\Programs\TouchWatch2). Maybe this will work for you.
Looking good!
This is coming along very nicely! The problem with v1, where the form filled only 1/4 of the screen, has been resolved, and I like the addition of the stopwatch and the additional options. I also like the way it now ties in with the TF3D look.

Using a recently purchased HTC Touch Diamond, I got the same problem, but installing Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5 did the trick.

Agree with both of these points. The standard top bar, with the Windows menu, system icons and close button, should be retained, and menus added to the bottom bar (Menu and Settings or File and Options, perhaps).
Final suggestions: it would be good if the sound selection dialog allowed browsing to other file locations, and it would be helpful if there was a sound test button.
A great little app - thank you!

Hi,
you can browse files anywhere on your device. Use the UP button. If you select a sound, it plays once.
Thanks for all your feedback.

The only thing i can come up with now is that there is no sound when the pda is in stand-by.

The timers will stop if the device is in standby. There is no workaround. It's depending on the Windows Mobile architecture.

I also have Chronos installed and that keeps on going even when my tytn2 is in stand-by. So it is possible.

Does Chronos suspend the default standby, and just lock the keys and power the screen off? - WM stops most processes running to extend battery life.
Thanks for the update to TouchWatch!

Chronos even keeps running when i put my tytn2 manually in stand-by with the power button.
So i guess it goes realy in stand-by or chronos is doing something even when you put it manually in stand-by, not for sure.

Speedbooster 2.0 & Battery Increase Hack WM6.5 7/14

Thought I'd start this thread for those who are looking to speed up there wm6.5 phone as well as increase their phones battery performance. Thanks to stanip over at Rhodium Development for heads up on this jem of a program that works great on my Kaiser. This is a must have on your phone. I noticed so many chefs in rom development try their hardest to achieve maximum stability and speed and some are very sucessful. I was skeptical about this program until I installed and applied settings recommended and WOW I swear my phone is SUPER FAST and RESPONSIVE with little effect on battery life. In fact I've noticed longer battery life with Battery hack setting found in this program. I have attached the cab for this program along with settings provided to make your phone FLY try it out you'll see!
Note: Upon installation you will note that the taskbar will turn a greenish and orange like color upon 1st soft reset. Don't worry. Just soft reset once or twice and this will dissappear. Settings and Cab below:
1) Under processes: select highest for all. Select Refresh and select Monitor.
The best part here is the "Add" function which allows you to pick applications you want to add and speed up. Once you add, select highest speed as other processes. The improvement is really noticeable.
2) Memory: similiar to other clean Ram type of utilities. No setting required. Just hit Free.
3) Video speed: I select fastest and disable window animations.
4) Storage performance: Just select all to tick.
5) Tools: I only need battery hack (to last longer).
6) Benchmark & reset to default - as needed.
Install to device not Storage Card
Unregistered version only allows for 1 full system setting. I currently have File System Cache set to maximum and boy does this thing respond.
Wow!!
It sounds a great superb tool!
Any comments from members already tested?
Thanks,
intereting. will have to try this out. thanks.
sweet. hope that this will help my kaiser.
Installed on my 64mb Universal does not even run the app
Now I can´t uninstall.....
EDIT: Uninstalled took like 10 min
Perhaps my memory is very slow...
Any other experiences to share?

I havent noted any battery consumption. In fact ive noted low battery consumption due to the battery hack settings. my battery seems to stay charged longer now but i guess it all depends on your usage. note on unregistered version you can only select highest for 1 setting. I increased file cache to full and thats it until i buy full.

dont know why it took so long to uninstall. on my kaiser i just go to settings system and remove programs and take installed programs off. also dont know if this works on universal but it should cause its built for ppc. google speedbooster 2.0 teksoft and there more info on this fine program.
okI tried it. running it now. it seems to be loading the windows folder much faster and I have quite a few files in it.
I mostly focused on device.exe.
so far the keyboard has not been misstyping. (although I still cant spell woth a damn.
thanks for the heads up on the program... now if I can only figure out how to make these setings permanent in my rom...
Thank´s for the SpeedBooster...
I install the version V2.0.0.10 because of Tyra
I have one HTC Touch Elf 0100 P3450 (64/128Mb) & Onyx 5.0.1 WM6.5, and i take less of minute to install SpeedBooster... I set all like the #1 and the soft give me this BenchMark:

Cool. Ive been trying to let a few of the cooks in Kaiser Rom threads about this program noone seems to be paying it any mind so i thought I would just start a thread. This app is a must have. regarding all the settings I think you have to purchase the full program for like $14 to be able to have all, but the way my phone is moving now who needs the others. A little secret if you have advanced configuration 3.3 go into performance settings and enable file system cache set file system cache size to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072 sectors , Glyph Cache to 128kb hit done phone will do soft reset and be ready to anchor your phone down this baby will fly.no effect on battery either. report back tell me what you think.

One question: i have set it NOT TO SHOW the battery bar. But, after each soft reset, the bar keeps reappearing. Anyone knows a registry setting to disable it for good?
Thank's, Paul
This little program is indeed a wonder.
I've used it on several models, and allways with good results, since early versions.
Best practice tip, from one of the authors of this app:
I suggest you add higher priority to gwes.exe and shell32.exe, and to 2-3 of your favorite programs that are not running fast enough.
Click to collapse
And you can get a free license, check this topic on Teksoft's forum. You can also get more info browsing their forum.
Anyhow, a little explanation, on how it works: it does not overclock your processor. It just assigns more processor time (cycles?), to the running apps that were tweaked to a higher priority, thus making them run faster.
I'm always a little sceptical when it comes to "speedboosters", but this one really works.
I pointed it to
poutlook.exe
gwes.exe
shell32.exe
and applied the rest of the settings as the topicstarter. It gives a very noticeble speedboost in Titanium in WM6.5. I work with the Romeos 6.5 ROM.

I noticed in the title it says for wm6.5. Does this work with 6.1 as well. Seems as though it would if people with the Touch Pro2 are praising this app. I know I would like to give it a try on my TP2.
+1
Could you please tell if this app only works on wm 6.5. ? or also on 6.1
Also, is it supposed to work on every ppc, such as Diamond I, Touch HD, etc...
Thanks

• Some RAM and Battery saving tips
1. Keep on Hibernating your phone.
2. Use M2DC( Manilla2d customizer) and remove the tabs you don’t use.this reduces touchflo2d.exe size saving some RAM.
3. Keep the backlight at level 2 to save battery.
4. Use USBTOPC for faster data transfer.
5. Give your device a restart every alternate days.
6. Use touchpal keyboard with Ezinput skin to have the lates HTC keyboard experience which is fast, responsive, finger friendly and RAM saving.
7. Use light dialer skins.
8. Use S2P istead of Audio Manager.
9. Turn off touchflo while watching movies in Core Player or while using Camera.

New ROM
Cool. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
Ok, I've downloaded it and flashed my phone with it. When it reboots I see the Tri-Color screen and get the following error message:
Your OS ROM isn't customized for your hardware. Please reflash the proper ROM code or contact the service center.
I've seen an error message something like this previously, if not exactly like this. It's been a while so I don't remember what it was. But I received the error message when I tried a ROM that was region locked. Is your ROM region locked?
when I flash your rom, my Opal stay at bootloader screen with this text
"Your OS ROM isn't customzed for your hardware"
is there a solution?
Yesterday I tried to flash this ROM and got the same error message as stated in post 2 and 3.
tried this rom yesterday....i hav to say it was really very good, very fast, lots of free ram, and very original looking...
but i installed evo 2 again because i cant access file explorer with touch, means it works only with d-pad, and calender also....

I gave the ROM a shot, i dint face the problem as stated many times above, but (no offence intended) I really found this ROM very annoying, File explorer loads very slowly, many apps dont work not even the basic ones like OMAPclock. Touch interface doesnt work in file explorer or while messaging, you have to resort to the hard keys to navigate through it, Manila is unable to load music, SenseUI doesnt seem to work (Mobile Shell to be precise). Hope for these issues to be addressed quickly,
Thanx and Regards,
