Backup Software - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have had to do hard reset of my Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard) phone many times when I installed some software that screwed up my previous working settings. Is there a way to backup the phone so that I can install from the backup after hard reset without having to reinstall all the stuff? Something similar to Norton Ghost?

Sprite backup software problem

Is anyone else noticing this? After eventually getting the Sprite backup and restore to work, activesync doesn't recognise my xdaII, and asks me to set up a new partnership. I was rather hoping to avoid all this sort of thing
Haven't run into that, and I've done a few restores. Are you using the latest version? Have you turned off any of the options in the backup software?
I've experienced what you experienced. I had to hard reset cause my xda2 won't sinc with my pc. I used the "exe" backup. I don't know if the normal backup will do fine.
Hope someone can help us.
I use the exe backup option without problem. I use version. V 3.0.0 Build 1517 but just checked their web and version 3.0.1 is available for download
Bully, Carlos,
What are your ROM versions? Mine is ROM ver 1.66WWE. It may be the reason for the bug.
That could be, I'm on 1.72. I'm using Sprite Backup version 3.0.1. I had also done this successfully on my XDA I with Sprite 2.x.
Aside from this problem, another one! After a full backup, sprite backup's soft reset seems to trigger a harrd reset. Luckily it happens right after ive backed up everything, but still a little annoying. Anyone had this?
Never heard of that. Do daily backups and it always just does a soft reset. Are you on the latest version?

I've been using Sprite V3 since before it was released (beta tester) and never experienced this, I do daily scheduled self-extracting (.exe) backups and they always restore fine.
Are you using the latest build of ActiveSync? It could be that rather than Sprite.
Tip: I find it safer to hard reset the device before restoring a backup. Ok, so it can take a couple of minutes longer and you have to reset the clock, but it causes less locked file problems.
Blimey! It's stopped doing it! I think we can probably put it down to operator error.

Nah, it's the same as when the video plays up... damned this works fine when the engineer looks at it!
Glad we could... er... help?

backup after flash rom update

I hoped not to have to re-install my apps, so I used sunnysoft backup utlity, backed everything to pc, then
used the new rom update
after that
i installed sunnysoft on the updated os
and restored the backup
result: activesync can only connect to device as guest...
i tried all kinds of tricks like:
reinstall activesync
create new partnership
reboot pc...
none worked, so i reset to updated rom, and (sigh)
am in the process of re-installing everything...
i guess the rom update updates activesync on the pocketpc side, and probably other files too which got overwritten by my backup,
so
i dont think there is a way around it, if u flash the rom, u need to freshly re-install all programs (apart from your data)....
correct me if i am wrong

Hard reset

Greetings,
when we hard reset the phone, is that some files still remains or registry in the phone. because from last 2 3 days my phone is not working properly and i hard reseted it but the thing continues like it freezes for sometime.
Thanks
ya
Greetings,
Is it possible
Usually a hard reset clears all the user installed programs and data and registry settings, recreating your fresh ROM. If you had a failed ROM update, the effects of a hard reset may be corrupted. I've never heard of a corrupted hard reset, however. Did you install anything after the hard reset? Reinstall programs and data from a backup?
Yes
Greetings,
Yes i installed opera, batterystatus.
My wizard was showing strange memory the program was 26mb even after running opera.
But then again i hardreseted and its working properly.
Thanks for the reply.

SMS / MMS disappear after poweroff

Hi to all,
I recently reinstalled my TyTN with the official WM 6.0 (ita).
I have a very few apps installed and I have this problem: after a normal power-off (not a reset) all the message after a certain data (always the same) disappear .
How can I solve this problem?
A new Hard Reset?
Thanks!
Doing a hard reset couldn't hurt BUT remember to back up ALL your sms and contacts first. I use SPB backup 2.0.1. Means all my sms and contacts are back on there, not to mention my whole setup, after a rom upgrade or HR.
Cheers...

Hard reset with just rebooting after a backup?

im am using CRC 13.0 rom and when i back up and install the backup to a new install (hard reset) it will lag and cause me to reset it and it just hangs at the windows mobile screen and then i would have to start the process all over with a hard reset.. what causes this?
If the reason you did a hard reset at the start was because of this issue, then it may be something that you backed up causing the problem. Backing up the registry and the os is a good idea when its working fine, BUT, if there is some problem with the phone, backing up may just save the problem for the next install. Its best in these circumstances to just back up contacts and sms's and do a clean install...
My experiences taught me this.....
Cheers...
