hi. i have an 8125 and i was painting and fell from the ladder. i wasn't hurt all that much but the the screen on my 8125 cracked and now there is bleeding everywhere inside my screen.
does anyone know if i can replace the screen easily by myself or where i can even get a screen?
i think someone was going to sell me a broken MDA (screen good) and wondering if that screen would work for the 8125.
thank you.
Hi!
There was similar discussion some time ago:

Actually I broke my screen too this weekend I ordered replacement from ebay, such as this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140005879931
I am going to try to replace it by myself according to Wizard service manual. In my case only touch screen is damaged - not LCD, but it seems that these come as one unit. If I will find that these can be separated, I will have spare LCD part. In my case I have O2 XDA mini s - I do not know if lcd is the very same as in Cingular 8125 you have.

Gutted for you m8. Hope you manage to get hold of something cheap.
Update to my previous post - after much tinkering I was able to replace broken touchscreen of my mini-s.
Some notes:
According to Wizard service manual there are two LCD versions:
p/n 60H00032-00M - LCD Module, (LTP280QV-E01 Samsung)
p/n 60H00037-00M - LCD Module, (TD028STEB1 Toppoly)
It seems that these are not interchangeable but I might be wrong. I was trying to replace my 60H00032-00M with new 60H00037-00M (whole module with lcd & touchscreen), however it did not work - LCD switched on but was all white. Then I managed to separate touchscreen from new module and replace it with my broken one. Seems that it is working now. It is possible to replace just touchscreen but care must be taken not to break it and some very fine soldering must be done.
To theorist - if you want to replace LCD by yourself you should check for exact part number of your LCD and find similar one - that should work.
So now I have spare and useless for me 60H00037-00M LCD Module (LCD only without touchscreen) that probably is in working order as I suppose that it is just not compatible with my mini-s.
In the US, HTC America can fix it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=49361&highlight=

Hi
I have a Qtek 9000 and recently I broked the display. As I had the service manual I thought I coud replace the display by myself. I bought a new LCD + touch screen on ebay and the replacing of the LCD was easy and went quite well. The lcd works fine but the touch screen don't. I cheked and clean all the contacts but couldn't make the touch screen work.
So I wrote de seller and we agree to send back de display and receive a new one that he will test bofore posting.
I placed this new display and the problem remais the same. The lcd works fine but the touch screen don't, so I think the problem could not be here.
I made a hard reset and even downgraded to the original ROM but the touch screen still not working.
Can anyone help me with this
Thanks
Have you tried the touchscreen side of things before re-asembling the casing?
I have had problems with the seal on the casing around the screen activating the touch screen permanently - so that it runs really slow (if at all) when using the keypad.
damn, did you get the touch screen to work at all?
which LCD + touch did you buy from ebay? hopefully we can avoid this seller and get something that works.
ever thought of buying the touch screen separately and putting that on?
Let us know how it goes.
whitemoo.
after disasembling/asembling device had the same ussie with touch, after a cup of hours using it.
armandoramos try to open, when UNI works, only a part of UNI with LCD(look page 21 in service manual-bottom picture, page 22 & page 23-middle picture),then try how works your touch. If it works-you just had pinch the LCD coaxial cable module.
i had a problem with my touch screen, i was lucky enough to find a second hand uni in a local market with a busted lcd but working TS.
i swopped over the TS and re-assembled my uni, one thing i did have to add was a tiny piece of foam between the ribbon cable assembly and the case, this was to push the two ribbon cable sections (TS and LCD) together, for a better connection, relying on the sticky bits alone was not enough.
hope this helps.
Hi guys this is my first post (so please be gentle )
I had a hermes with WM 6 working great until my toddler got his hands on it and now the touchscreen doesnt work (looks like its caused by large dent in the centre of the screen), I've had a look around and found the problem to be with the digitizer itself. I was thinking of replacing it myself with this I found on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=260193961530&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016
Just wondering if anyone had purchased one of these and had any feedback as to if they actually work and any tips on fitting it
I would give it a shot as its not to expencive and could save your phone.
I just like the way they bundle in a kit to take the phone apart but ask you to make sure what colour the connectors are on the inside of the phone before purchaseing :-D
thanks for your reply, i may just go ahead and give it a go then, I could post the pictures or a guide if its any use to anyone? Other than that wish me luck (i may need it)
The touchscreen on my Cingular 8525 stopped working today, so I'm faced with a similar dillema. I saw the digitizers for 16-20 dollars online, but I've heard it's safer to just replace the entire screen since you have to seperate the screen from the digitizer with an exacto blade. Either that or I'll have to send it to pocketpctechs and be without a phone for 5 days. Thankfully I can still navigate the phone with the jogwheel + dpad.
I found this video showing how to disassemble your 8525 if you're interested.

well just to follow up, the replacement touchpad arrived yesterday it was well packaged and even included a CD containing instructions on how to replace the digitizer itself. I removed the old digitizer (using the edge of a tape measure as it was the only thing i had thin enough) and installed the new one and I have to say im well impressed, all works as it should
A bit of advice though, try and use a soldering iron that is less than 15W as I nearly burned through the contacts but other than that i have my baby back yey
I have had my wing for only 2 months and I bought it off of a friend.
When I had it I noticed two little scratches at the right hand-side bottom of the screen, but everything worked perfect......until now.
The problem I am having is that the touchscreen is not responding right att all. The main screen is crystal clear (it functions right) but the touchscreen interface is does not repond to touch or when it does, it activates another section of the screen different from where was pressed.
Do u guys think it's really the touchscreen layer on the main screen that is faulty or could it be something else triggering a faulty reponse?
Thanks in advance.
I had that same problem with an HP iPAQ hx2490. The only thing i can say to you is: You need to buy a new screen and replace the old one..
sry
You do not need to replace the whole screen, but the touch screen digitizer will need to be replaced. I had that problem on my prophet and had to have it replaced.
Thanks guys for ur quick reply... I'll take the step to replace the necessary part....Thank you.
Doing research on this I see where these cost at least $50 or more. Is it worth it? Can you not get a new one cheaper using the offers posted on this site? Just curious.

replacing the digitizer has way more steps than just changing the whole LCD screen. I had similar thing happen to my old MDA and I replaced both LCD and digitizer with new ones. Separating the Digitizer from LCD might damaged the actual screen itself. I suggest go to ebay and buy a combo screen+digitizer replacement part.
I got one for my MDA for 78 dollar shipped.comes with flat plastic tools, plastic screen protector, T6 screwdrivers, and wiping cloth. Not a bad deal.
The only reason I suggested just replacing the digitizer is cost... My I had to replace the digitizer it cost $60 instead of $100 for the entire screen...
Hi guys, i followed all the indictaions on the official videos but i think i broke something! I had an HTC hd2 with a broken digitilizer but the screen worked fine. I bought a screen+digitilzer combo and replaced it but it didnt work.
The screen does not show anything (black screen) but the backlight of it is on!
I tought maybe was a problem of that lcd so i tested the original screen (that was working) and it does the same.
What could be the problem??
Please i need help
come onn, anyone ?
please guys, anyone ??
Sounds like a defective lcd to me. I'd try an RMA asap on getting another unit before your DOA warranty (if the lcd has one) runs out.
it's not the LCD. I had a working LCD but a defective digitizer, i bought the lcd+digitizer replacement and now both screens do the same , just the backlight is on. And before i change the screens the original lcd was working fine.
Could it be because the LCD is not correctly pasted into the chassis ? i really don't know what could it be the problem. The lcd is correctly connected to the mainboard. What could i broke in the process?
Thanks connexion2005 for the help anyways, is nice to see someone finally answered hehe!

If you were not really gental with the internal parts of the phone, more presisly the ribbons that connect each part to the main board you could have cause micro cracks in the copper strips of the ribbons. Look at the closely with a magnifying. glass if possible.
today i was able to sync it literally with no idea of what i was touching. I also figured that the digitizer works , i was able it dial some numbers. The phone appears to work.
So, Backlight is on, Touch (digitizer) also works, but not showing anything on the LCD.
Could it be a mainboard problem ?? I'm trying to use logic because i don't know anything about cellphones and how do they work in terms of components.
Could it be the ribbon ? I dont think so, i have two screens and both of them do the same (backlight on but not showing anything).
I'm clueless!
Don`t panic. Calm down, watch a demolution tuturial. You probably miss smt. Good luck
But it could be a ribbon...
Hello guys,
My HD2 was fallen on his screen yesterday. He seems to be in good state but it is just in aspect, the screen don't display anything except white strips and, the touch ability seems not working at all (When I press to do a slide to unlock nothing happens => no vibrations). In the right hand corner, the lcd screen seems to be a little broke.
You could see the problem at this link: http ://img25.imageshack.us/i/imgp0001by.jpg/
Do you have any ideas of causes of this? I have to change lcd screeen and capacitive screen? And it is possible to do it of my own?
Thanks for your answers and if you have any tutorials or other help, I'm grateful.

The cause is obviously it being dropped. Yes you have to change your screen if you don't want to have a broken one and may have to get a new digitizer. I don't know you so I don't know if you have the skill to do this yourself. If you have a warranty then carry it back so they can fix it, if not (or that's not covered under it), take it to a cell phone repair shop. They should have the equipment to fix it (digitizer, lcd, etc..) and you can pay for the service and equipment there.Hope this helps.
Thanx a lot theonew I try to see that quickly!
Do you have some reference on the web to get this components? A serious website selling this both components?

You could go here: http://www.dinodirect.com/htc-hd2-t-mobile-touch-screen.html and here for lcd (with tools for installation is optional): http://www.smartphonebay.net/LCD-Screen-for-HTC-HD2-p/lcdp-htct8585.htm. I could not find both on one website. Anyways, I hope you can fix your phone.
Ok, to fix my phone it's 200 euros, I'd like to try to fix it on my own and now I'm at this point: http: //img835.imageshack.us/i/imgp0001c.jpg/ and this http: //img59.imageshack.us/i/imgp0002le.jpg/
(Thx to official disassembling video)
Someone have a tips to separate screen from digitizer??

Well, You always can buy LCD and digitizer from eBay, taken apart or already assembled LCM (about 80-120$ for digitizer+LCD module). You have to be careful which model you buying if you decided to buy LCD and touch apart, both must be for European version of HD2. LCM assembly are compatible for any model of HD2 LEO, I've tested both T-Mobile and EU at my EU version of HD2 and they worked very good.
Separating the digitizer is not a easy job, most cases you have two broken pieces in result, but if you still want to separate them, first thing to do is to heat them to about 60*C (Celsius degree), then separate digitizer from LCD with a sharp-edge thin plastic sheet, i.e. a credit card with sharpened edge. LCD and digitizer are sticked together with a kind of black double-sided scotch tape, it is easy to see it but it is very easy to damage digitizer during this process due to very thin Indium Oxide wires on it that is easy to scratch.
The best thing is to buy fully assembled new LCM and simply replace your old LCM. In addition You nave to remove old LCM adhesive from phone housing to assure proper alignment of your new LCM. It can be removed with ethanol or isopropanol (take a cloth, wet it well with same alcohol and gently rub the grued surface until it will be clean).
Here are the Official HTC HD2 Disassembly/Assembly Training Videos but there all components are new and unused.
