Can someone please help me edit my registry to get louder phone volume...I have played with all of the values in audiogain and audiogain(x) and have successfully made me sound louder to other people, and made the speakerphone much louder, but I really need to get the earpiece volume louder. while driving, common road noise to loud enough to drown it out. Thanks...

Don't touch audiogain but HKEY current user/controlpanel/soundcategories/ring : put 5 in initvol and speaker.Repeat the same at HKEY current user/controlpanel/soundcategories/ringpreview.
You can change registry settings with MobileRegistryEditor.exe.

The initvol keeps reverting back to 3 on a soft reset the ring stuck though also in ringpreview there is no ring or initvol keys are we supposed to add these?
Thanks!
If u don't have these DWords you can add them. I did, it stays but no real improvement.
May I suggest using a more elaborate Registry Editor, such as Resco's. After changes, to keep them permanent, one must:
1. exit the reg edit program from the appropriate menu
2. shut off the PPC (to force writing the changes to flash)
4. re-open the PPC
5. immediately perform soft reset to restart with new changes
Anyway, as said, no big improvement is apparent. Must probably wait for a new ROM update.

I want also my volume a bit more then what i got now. So i looked it up in the registry but they where at 5 so now iam thinking can i set them to 6 or higher ????
Louder microphone
I have the opposite problem, in that the microphone gain on my Itech S38 is too low and people say I either sound really far away or they can't hear me at all. If anyone's messing around with the registry and find a registry value that ups the gain on the handsfree profile, I'd love to hear about it!
Thanks!

PS: I saw all the ones under HKLM\software\HT\Audiogain, but there are a few of them and I'm not sure which ones would work.

Hi there!
I searched how to fix these sounds in the registry but nothing seems to work.
Many registry keys seem to point to "dpadctl.mid" that produces nothing, so I tried to change to Busy.wav (which was present in \Windows\) and to create a Busy.wma file in \Windows\ but no sound is produced.
May anyone tell me what these sounds are supposed to be and how can I make them to work?
This is the list:
BusyTone
CallDrop
CallWaiting
DialingDialingVoIP
DialPadCtlKey
All of them point to dpadctl.mid with different string value... Any idea?
Get rid of it!
I removed the string value, so it didn't work.
As I figured out, in the key "BusyTone" the string must be "apr" because the "p" seems to mean "play" and the "r" "repeat". But... the "a"?!?
Also, it is a little buggy, the volume is very low and the sound starts with a little delay, a choke, and then plays "tuuu tuuu tuuu" as it's supposed to be...
Here again to ask... Help!
News:
I found in MSDN something about ring scripts:
"apw3r" Ring
"p" Ring once
"s2apw3c150r" Increasing ring
"av3w3r" Vibrate
"v3w3apw3r" Vibrate then ring
"a" Silent
But my busy tone, set as "apr" (I supposed that removing "w3" is like removing 3 sec. delay), doesn't work well. The sound is reproduced by the speakers on the side of my Uni, not from the right one!
Waiting for suggestions...
In edit:
Modifying the key "Ending" in \ControlPanel\Sounds\ with script "p" and setting the wav file you wish, you will change the sound of the red phone button...
Dear all,
I'm currently enjoying the SRS WOW plugin which an be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2291468&postcount=81
However, after each soft-reset, my settings go back to default. I checked tru the registry settings and these seem to be associated with this plugin:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SRS\WOWXT\BtA2dpSnd
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SRS\WOWXT\WaveDev
The thing is, the values do not change when I change my SRS settings. It seems disconnected. I was hoping to find working registry settings, so I can probably create a cab to run each time I soft-reset.. but like I mentioned, the registry keys seem disconnected.
Anyone else who uses it experiences the same problem?
I've been on a few 6.1 ROMs, from Duttys and now Shaks. Same issue.
Thanks for reading.

Create 2 new keys with a registry editor
1.InputGain=0
2.OutputGain=0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SRS\WOWXT\BtA2dpSnd
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SRS\WOWXT\WaveDev

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't seem to work.
I added the 2 keys you mentioned into the 2 paths (total 4 keys) and they seem to be disconnected with the SRS control panel.
The thing is, I usually set the Input Gain and Output Gain to max (rest is default), but sadly these are the 2 settings which go back to default after a soft reset.
Wait a min.. Although I notice the regisry keys dont get updated each time i edit the gain settings.. it does remain at max settings after reset! (that is if the registry keys are set to zero)
Thanks again!!
Can someone please explain exactly what to do, for my settings to keep the same after Soft Reset ...
I tried changing those values to 0, but the problem is really that the setting are always at maximum after soft reset, they don`t stay as a previously configured them.
Someone found the solution to this already ?
Thank you in advanced !!!
Bump
Well for me, the maximum settings for TruBass is what I want, so I'm ok with it. I'm not sure if it stays in other settings.
Here are my personal settings (headphones):
3D Effect: 100%
Center Effect: 40%
Focus level: 0%
Definition level: 0%
TruBass level: 40%
Speaker size: 100Hz (40Hz for internal)
Input gain: 0dB
Output gain: 0db
I can confirm that these settings do stay that way after soft-reset.
The Headphone/Internal setting doesn't matter as that's the mode selection, meaning the headphone setting will be used when you plug-in your headphones.
I have created a cab that incorporates the extra registry settings and all for convenience. You might wanna try it and see if it helps:
Thank you for all your help ! It works perfect now !
Hi,
I have a s200 for almost a week now and the phone sounds damn quiet when i am having a conversation, so i was wondering if your s200 sound a bit quiet too and most importantly if there is a way, a patch, a registry mod or something through which i could increase the volume of the phone.
All this is happening with volume to the top, i tried all of the methods i could think of but it is still quiet.
Thanks!
can you tell me if your phone is brand new? if its still new and under warranty i suggest you should to return this to where you bought it from if not... pls post specifications of your ROM like is it WM 5, 6, 6.1 or 6.5 coz registry tweaks differ from each ROM... for the mean time try reading this.. i copied this from an old forum thread which quotes on volume increasing...
[GUIDE]Registry Tweaks for Volume
Sorry if this has already been posted but there are a couple of things that are worth outlining to most users.. for example there are registry entries that allow you to change the volume and increase it significantly beyond windows actually supports and there are various other edits.. but one edit i really would like is to disable the Incoming Call Bubble..(haven't found a solution for it yet) but i thought i'd just provide everyone else with what i've found so far. (I take no credit for these registry edits)
Volume Edits
HKCU\ControlPanel\Volume\
DWORD - Ringer
(HEX)Increase it to 0x#<change it to 5 or higher> to increase it to its maximum volume. - Only tested on the Atom Life
(DEC)Increase it to over 5 to increase the volume
DWORD - Volume
Same as Ringer DWORD
In Call Edits
REMOVE SOUNDS WHEN ADJUSTING VOLUME INCALL
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\StandardIncallVolume
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\QuietestIncallVolume
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\LoudestIncallVolume
STRING - Script
Remove the 'p' in the script strings to remove the noises while in a call. This makes the volume increase smoother and removes the annoying noises.
INCREASE INCALL VOLUME
HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\InCall
DWORD - InitVol
Defaults to around 2 - 5, Increase this to 5 or Higher
Ringtone Edits
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Ringtone0
STRING - Script

i havent tried all of the tweaks on my phone coz i dont need a loud one you can read them and try soft reset and then check if something had changed in your volume.. (credit to the one who made this thread)
and dont forget to back up your registry before applying changes you made...
you may try these driver too if this will be needed..
i attached also a taskmanager where in you can find registry editor in its sub menu..
Enjoy and hope this helps
The phone is brand new, but it has no valid warranty with it. I am running the original WM 5, which was installed on the phone, its brand is qtek, and it is g4, as far as i can see. I thought of upgrading to wm6, but i am afraid, that it may become unusable.
Anyway, i can notice any difference with the changes from your post, but now it is topo late and everything is quiet so i can hear a conversation quite clearly, i will run a "field test" tomorrow, and i will post the results.
Thanks for your help!
Regards!
Nope no change, still quiet
One day, i've got a problem like this... Sound heard of the conversation was poor when around was noisy...
This was a parameter to change in the microphone part of the settings :
"Start", "Parameters", "System" tab, "Microphone AGC" icon, then uncheck the gain of the microphone (set to disable)
Worth the try, eh ??
I don't want to use any 3rd party tweaking app but what is the registry tweak to increase the volume in call. I think it is too quite and cannot hear the other person that much despite puttling volume to max on phone.
Thanks!
Think the volume is fine on my phone, but sometimes when ear isn't positioned correctly from the speaker the sound level does change quite a bit so maybe take note of that first.

Try this:
Regisrty: HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\InCall
Key: InitVol
Default: 2 change to 10
Thank you. I don't really notice a different. Are you sure this is the correct reg tweak please?
Thanks!
This works on my 6.1:
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\AttenuationCategory set the value to 4
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\ InitVol set the value to 5
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\ Speaker set the value to 1
increase in-call volume. thank [email protected]
can anyone confirm if these settings work?

I found the Registry Entrys but how make the Volume for Music higher? What is the right Entry for this? Anybody helps?
I need music music volume higher...
Thx DarkForcesTeam for this work...
It's completed mess with volumes.
1) Media & ring volume are too LOUD
2) System notifications with same level like 1) are too LOW
Just use the rocker switches to adjust volume level

Wrong forum, ffs why are people still posting crap in the dev sections??
Thread reported!
Mine is stupidly loud on ringtones and media etc (to distortion), and it's also too loud through headphones.
When I say this I mean that the loudest setting is over the top and not much use since it's distorted - that's fine, I just won't turn it up that high - simples!
But the problem is that on the lowest setting (1/20) both ringtones and media are still too loud for what should be kind of barely audible. Now that is not easy to workaround so I'd love to sort it out.
Update - got my excessive volume fixed now with the registry edit posted elsewhere by changing the value from 45 to 70.
Now volume level 1 is really quiet how it should be.

+1 - please share your findings (where is this reg key, what variable?)
edit:
I found the variable he's talking about.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume]
"MaxdBAtten"=dword:2D (2D = 45)
I suspect this will not change the ringtone to notification volume differences?

can you confirm the volume difference between ringtone and notifications is still there? or does this also solve that as well?

I think I just fixed this. I saw a registry edit for WM 6 & it the directory still exists.
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\
In each of it's sub directories, change the InitVol value to 100. I notice some were 100 already while others were 85 or even 65. I think this means 100% volume/85% volume/65% volume. Change them all to one value & you'll equalize the volume across the board.
