Busy CallDrop etc. sounds - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi there!
I searched how to fix these sounds in the registry but nothing seems to work.
Many registry keys seem to point to "dpadctl.mid" that produces nothing, so I tried to change to Busy.wav (which was present in \Windows\) and to create a Busy.wma file in \Windows\ but no sound is produced.
May anyone tell me what these sounds are supposed to be and how can I make them to work?
This is the list:
BusyTone
CallDrop
CallWaiting
DialingDialingVoIP
DialPadCtlKey
All of them point to dpadctl.mid with different string value... Any idea?

Get rid of it!
I removed the string value, so it didn't work.
As I figured out, in the key "BusyTone" the string must be "apr" because the "p" seems to mean "play" and the "r" "repeat". But... the "a"?!?
Also, it is a little buggy, the volume is very low and the sound starts with a little delay, a choke, and then plays "tuuu tuuu tuuu" as it's supposed to be...
Here again to ask... Help!

News:
I found in MSDN something about ring scripts:
"apw3r" Ring
"p" Ring once
"s2apw3c150r" Increasing ring
"av3w3r" Vibrate
"v3w3apw3r" Vibrate then ring
"a" Silent
But my busy tone, set as "apr" (I supposed that removing "w3" is like removing 3 sec. delay), doesn't work well. The sound is reproduced by the speakers on the side of my Uni, not from the right one!
Waiting for suggestions...
In edit:
Modifying the key "Ending" in \ControlPanel\Sounds\ with script "p" and setting the wav file you wish, you will change the sound of the red phone button...

AWESOME: Vibrate feedback on phone key press

faysel, over at the modaco forum has come up with this awesome cab that lets you get vibrating feedback everytime you press one of the number buttons in the phone. The vibration lasts as long (or as short!) as you press the button.
Great cab, very useful for knowing whether you have indeed pressed the key.
This is great, thank you. I used to use Redial with vibrating effect on my PDA2k (WM2003SE) but this is even better
don't expect a long battery life with that!

Are you kidding me? I mean what kind of a battery effect you think it will have? Its such a small vibe that I don't expect to have ANY noticable effect on battery life. First it vibes only when you dial phone numbers (how many a day? 5? 6? even 20? Its still nothing. Second, receiving a phone call, that is the vibration during it, probably uses more power than this addition will use in 20 calls...
I really disagree...
This is a great little program!
I don't like it because if you tap fast, it wont vibrate. In addition to this, there is a serious problem with the dialer after you uninstall it.
So I had to reinstall it and now i'm stuck with it
My rating : 0 (ZERO)
@Andrew_sh: use the attached cab to get the keytones back, then uncheck from the sounds and notifications settings to get a working silent dialer back.
@Koksie
Thanks for trying but unfortunately it won't fix it.
When I press the button , the tone will sound but if I press it again shortly after, it lags and makes a higher pitched tone.
Sorry to hear it didn't work Andrew, I have no idea how to fix this. I use the vibrate and am happy with it, on my Magician going back with this cab worked fine, I have no idea what is causing this in your Prophet. I hope you can figure it out and correct it, good luck with that.

Try this, it's a saved registry string of the original keys that the .cab modified. Hopefully i'll work for you without messing up anything else.
I had to rename the file vibrate off.reg.exe to ba able to attach it. Just delete the .exe part ie. vibrate off.reg
this is a technical forum
can someone paste here the registry keys which are being modified by this vibrate utility?
thanks
Using a registry editor navigate to the following keys and follow the directions. Do this for each of the listed registy keys
1. Rename Standard DWORD parameter "Sound" to "Sound1"
2. Create new String Parameter "Sound"
3. Assign value *vibrate* to this new parameter.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf#
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf*
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf0
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf3
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf5
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf6
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf7
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf8
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf9
this mod doesn't work fine for me, I noticed the vibrate a few time but it's not working everytime I tap on the Keypad...
Strange :?
Although the mod works fine, I had big troubles removing it again.
After removing the mod with the supplied cab file any keys pressed in the dialer would lag and emmit a short beep.
i finally succeeded in removing it manually:
First reinstall the vibrate mod again so that the keys vibrated again when pressed.
Then go into the registery keys posted above, deleted the parameter "Sound" and then rename the parameter "Sound1" back to "Sound".
Do this for all Dtmf keys.
Thats all
its true if you tap fast it wont vibrate at all.. very annoying. is there a way to make it vibrate for a set lenght.. much like the dtmf tones used to be.. no matter how long or short i press..
that would be very useful.
regards,
tom

I used this mod until I found out that I couldn't turn off vibrate on incoming calls anymore. I can't be sure that they are related, but the timing was right. The next time I did a ROM upgrade I didn't install it again. I use speed dial with Photo Contacts Pro anyway.

Not installing on Tytn / Black2.5
"Installation unsuccesfull, Not meant for this device"
Did anybody have more luck? How?
I don't like this
...the vibrate just doesn't trigger some of the time, which means you can't rely on tactile feedback on dialling, which makes it fairly useless. Sorry...
buhahahaha

works fine on my Jamin. Great app

Phone ring delay

Hey,
I would like to upgrade to the TyTN but I need to known if the is any issue with the phone like it was on the Universal.
When someone calls you does the TyTN ring straight aswait or does it start ringing after3 or 4 ring like it did on the universal.
Is the screen aligment on the TyTN been sorted out?
Is they any major problem with the device?
Well it run TomTom Navigator 6?
Cheers for any input.
Thanks

I have found that there is a ring delay of 1 ring on my Tytn (Vario II). I too had the Universal on trial with VodaUK and the delay was excessive.
The screen alignment issue is only a problem for me if the phone get excessively hot (such as the time I left it near my laptop fan) other than that is works reasonably well.
I have tried TT 5.10 and it ran well.

there is an option in Tweak2k2 program is "Disbles 3s delay in Ringtone", i didn't try it yet, please test
sorry about my english
i have the tweaks2k2 program installed and the 3s delay is ticked......but when someone calls me there is still a delay of one ring only and then the phone wakes up on the second ring........
and yes tom tom 6 will definitely work.....

My default setting is actually "av0pw3r"??? I don't know what this means, so I've just left it alone!!!

I think the value varies depending on the settings you have for ring tone, I have "vibrate and then ring" and my default value was "v3w3apw3r". I've been plying with the values and ringing myself after each change, this is my conclusion:
The first '3' specifies the vibrating time before the phone rings, the second '3' specifies the delay after the phone stops vibrating and the ringtone starts playing and the third '3' specifies the delay between repeated ringtones. Correct me if I am wrong
errr.... forget my previous comment, I was wrong but Google told me the truth:
Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics
If you would like more control over how your device rings/vibrates/flashes its LEDs on events, you can can change the Script values of these events. For example, for an incoming call performing 'activate device, play ringtone, wait 3 seconds, repeat':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "apw3r" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
For performing 'active device, set volume to 33%, play ringtone, set volume to 67%, play ringtone, set volume to 100%, play ringtone (no repeat)':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "ac33pc67pc100p" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
The following are the full codes available to you. Please note that all the codes are executed simultaneously except after a ringtone play / wait code. E.g. 'v1p' will vibrate and play at the same time, while vibrating for 1 second. But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.
a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.

So according to the data given,
The phone activates and rings. There is no delay between.
...yet there is a decent amount of delay before the device rings on this end.
I don't have tweaks2k2 but it seems it doesn't do any better anyway...
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109
I want to get rid of the delay, but I'd like to be able to use PhoneAlarm and they probably aren't compatible.

This fixes this problem. The ring delay is a common problem regarding the power/wake up status of the phone. The fix corrects it.
Download tweaks2k2 from www.tweaks2k2.com, and you will have an evaluation copy which will work for three goes. I recommend you purchase if you're happy with it, it's a great tool, and so many uses! The writer should be rewarded.

where is this app on the url you have provided? I just get a load of ads...
thanks
The url is actually http://www.tweaks2k2.com
EDIT: I can also confirm that this does work.
Looks like it's just a simple reg hack

Weird sound from end call key

for some reason my end call key on my Wing makes this annoying beep after i press it. I have also noticed that the Call History and delete buttons also make this odd sound. Any ideas as to why? I have tried to listen to all of the sounds that i could find on my Wing, but no luck finding the source of this annoying beep
Is it really that annoying? It just sounds like a beep...
yes it is annoying because it's not supposed to beep at all.
After some searching on my Wing, I have discovered that it's the dpadctl.mid sound that has somehow been mapped to the buttons mentioned in my first post about this issue. How can I unmap this sound from these buttons?
EDIT: I have found the solution for this problem if anyone else is having it.
Disable the "ding" sound when initiating a call and ending a call.
hkey_current_user\controlpanel\soundcategories\incall
change the initvol to 0. do the same for hkey_current_user\controlpanel\soundcategories\incallfeedback
The sound is dpadctl.mid
Disable SMS message sent notification:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
3. Next, click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
4. Name the New Key as "Settings"
5. Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
6. On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
Credit for these: they were found on the TreoCentral forums -- usually from Hobbes

Thx for your solution.
omg thanks so much..ive been having this problem for a few months and i finally found a fix to that stupid beep on the call history
thanks alot
That beep has been driving me crazy like you wouldn't understand. Thank you so much!
For those of you that are too lazy to edit the registry or don't feel comfortable doing it. Here is the fix in .cab and .reg format to disable the beep.

Notifications Sound Files

Hi all,
Wondered if anybody knows the location of a sound file I'm looking for and haven't been able to find ?
I have Best Reminder installed and have set Alert-Soft as it's reminder tone, and have also set this sound in Settings-Sounds & Notifications-Notifications, as my alert tone for missed calls, new sms, mms, email etc.
So when a new sms arrives for example, windows should make the Alert-Soft sound once, which it does, then Best Reminder should make the sound every X seconds as specified, but everytime the reminder sounds, windows is playing an extra sound as well, I have attached rough recordings of the two so you can hear the difference.
I think windows is playing this because of the missed calls popup it's displaying everytime the sound is played, so I either want to turn off the popup, which would be preferable but I think impossible, or extract the sound file and replace it with a silent version.
The only way I can find to stop it is by unchecking Notifications (alarms, reminders), but this also turns off all other notification sounds, so there is no initial sound when a sms, mms, email arrives, which is obviously no good.
Any help you can give me will be much appreciated.
Thanks Dave.
Found a solution to this in case anyone else is interested :
The file making the sound is \Windows\Alarm2.wav and is also used by some of my other apps, so I didn't want to make it silent.
So I made a silent wave file e.g. I called mine Silent.wav, and place it in \Windows.
Then edit the following registry key HKCU\Control Panel\Notifications\Default\Wave
By default it's set to \Windows\Alarm2.wav so you just need to change the string value to point to the empty sound file \Windows\Silent.wav, and job done.
As far as I can tell this only changes the sound used for notification popups, I've tried all the other apps I use that use Alarm2.wav and they still use it ok.
Hello,
This is the closest thing I could find to an answer to my issue:
I want never to hear the sound "alarm2.wav" again. I hate it. Every time I want to soft reset, every time i want to add a calendar event from email to my calendar (sometimes i have to do like 20 in a row, and i hear that god-awful sound every time) every time any pop-up notifier message appears.
I changed the value for HKCU\Control Panel\Notifications\Default\Wave
to \windows\quietest.wav
In fact I went to all the settings and changed anything that was alarm2.wav to something else...
But to no avail. I cannot replace the file with another "alarm2.wav" as this is a ROM file and cannot be edited. I am so surprised that this has proved to be such a challenge! I have been able to customize so many things, I never would have anticipated so much difficulty in changing a simple sound

Quiet sound during conversation

Hi,
I have a s200 for almost a week now and the phone sounds damn quiet when i am having a conversation, so i was wondering if your s200 sound a bit quiet too and most importantly if there is a way, a patch, a registry mod or something through which i could increase the volume of the phone.
All this is happening with volume to the top, i tried all of the methods i could think of but it is still quiet.
Thanks!
can you tell me if your phone is brand new? if its still new and under warranty i suggest you should to return this to where you bought it from if not... pls post specifications of your ROM like is it WM 5, 6, 6.1 or 6.5 coz registry tweaks differ from each ROM... for the mean time try reading this.. i copied this from an old forum thread which quotes on volume increasing...
[GUIDE]Registry Tweaks for Volume
Sorry if this has already been posted but there are a couple of things that are worth outlining to most users.. for example there are registry entries that allow you to change the volume and increase it significantly beyond windows actually supports and there are various other edits.. but one edit i really would like is to disable the Incoming Call Bubble..(haven't found a solution for it yet) but i thought i'd just provide everyone else with what i've found so far. (I take no credit for these registry edits)

i havent tried all of the tweaks on my phone coz i dont need a loud one you can read them and try soft reset and then check if something had changed in your volume.. (credit to the one who made this thread)
and dont forget to back up your registry before applying changes you made...
you may try these driver too if this will be needed..
i attached also a taskmanager where in you can find registry editor in its sub menu..
Enjoy and hope this helps
The phone is brand new, but it has no valid warranty with it. I am running the original WM 5, which was installed on the phone, its brand is qtek, and it is g4, as far as i can see. I thought of upgrading to wm6, but i am afraid, that it may become unusable.
Anyway, i can notice any difference with the changes from your post, but now it is topo late and everything is quiet so i can hear a conversation quite clearly, i will run a "field test" tomorrow, and i will post the results.
Thanks for your help!
Regards!
Nope no change, still quiet
One day, i've got a problem like this... Sound heard of the conversation was poor when around was noisy...
This was a parameter to change in the microphone part of the settings :
"Start", "Parameters", "System" tab, "Microphone AGC" icon, then uncheck the gain of the microphone (set to disable)
Worth the try, eh ??
