I'm planning on getting the wizard very soon and i was wondering which emulation software you guys have been successful with. i understand that snes is abit sketchy, but has anyone tried the psx FPSEce program? I was looking at the videos and i was pretty impressed, but the only thing was that the program was being runned on hp's ipaq series with 400+mhz. how was this thing par up with the measley 200mhz? has anyone tried it?
i'm pretty hyped.. btw hermes isn't coming for a while so i don't htink i can hold out seeing that i need to switch out of carriers very soon.
Mario on a Phone...
I have been using Pocket Nester...it runs old NES Roms...I have loved it...Finally Mario 1, 2 & 3 on my phone where they were meant

I've been trying to get FPSEce to run FF7 on my wizard, but haven't had much luck yet. I think it's a problem with my rom (making my own from my playstation discs, so I probably botched it somewhere...) I'm going to keep trying though.. I'm worried about the speed issues too.. not sure how well it will work since it seems everyone else is using axims and ipaqs.. haven't read any reports of people doing it on their HTC devices...
FPSEce most likely won't run well at all on the Wizard. I run it on a Universal and it still has major slow downs at times, and only does a semi-decent job in general.

I've also been using PocketNester and also PocketGnuboy, both of which seem pretty fast and stable as well as free!
Also tried PocketUAE last night just for the hell of it, actually worked first time with a 1.3 rom and happily loaded up the first game I found (1st Div Manager). Too slow to be playable (especially in the match part) so no SWOS soon I'm afraid but did remind me of those happy bygone days! Really ought to dig out my A4000 again (or my CD32, A1200 or even my A500!)
I don't want to hijack the thread, but is anyone else having trouble with not getting sound from PocketNester or PocketNES? Neither one has sounds out of all the ROMs I try.
ive run ff7 on my wizard but performance isnt too great...the fmv's **** everything up so i have to re do the iso and maybe relink the fmv's

really, thats pretty impressive, i would think the measley 200 mhz processor isn't enough to even have a start screen. =\ do you guys think the hermes will be able to accomplish task?

And sometimes, i get to play live.
I usually end up play Classics, like Tekken 3 for the Ps1
And i have tekken 3 for pc and Ps1...
But i was wondering, if i could put it on my Mobile Windows?
So that i can play in the airplain, or just to keep my skills sharp.
I know the possessor of my Hermes is strong enough (400Mhz)
Let me know if theres any Emulators that let me play ISO.
Thanks
Emulation isn't all that easy.
Also, why don't you already own a PSP for this purpose? PSX ISOs work decently.

this is a bug
dont start it over the icon, run it over the .exe or just wait for v1.0
400mhz with version 0.95/0.96b will be slow..
but the new version will run way better and is coming out soon
this isn't the place for questions.
please refer to the Q&A section.
thank you
After 5 years on an HTC Apache, I figured I'd bite the bullet and sign a new contract for a updated Pocket PC, so I switched to AT&T and got the Tilt 2. One of my favorite things about my old Apache was all the emulators! NES, Genesis, SNES, GBA, absolutely love it! But I've tried redownloading the newest versions of all emulators and even using my old .exes and .cabs I used on the Apache. So far, I've had no success.
PocketGBA - Starts up and flashes the menu screen, but not even a second later crashes with a series of "We're Sorry, this program has stopped working" screens.
PocketSNES - Starts up and lets you browse the menus before loading a ROM, all keyboard buttons, with the exception of the direction keys, show up as the same address, and when you attempt to load a ROM, crashes to the same "We're Sorry, this program has stopped working" screen.
Just to let you know, I'm running a stock AT&T ROM, hoping to change that soon (Maybe that's part of the problem). Also, I've yet to try Picodrive for Genesis or Pocket Nester. Just would like to hear feedback from anyone who has had any success with these emulators or any others. I also heard that PSX emulation is possible on this phone, I'm not holding my breath on that, but like I said, just looking to hear if anyone got anything working.
emulators
Try smartgear, it's has all the old favorite emulators built in, i.e. NES, SNES, GBA, Genesis, etc. It's not freeware, but well worth the small amount of change for everything this app does.

I agree completely, GREAT emulator got it after another member here recommended it.
There is a trial version so make sure you try it out to see how you like it.
Smartgear? After about 3 hours of searching, I never even saw that name pop up! I will definitely check that out.
That coves a good amount of what I want do, but that still leaves GBA and PSX, any word on those two?

For PSX, I use FpseCE. So far, I've been able to load Spyro and play it but it is little sluggish. I am not using any enhanced 3D driver on my phone so I don't know if that would improve the performance or not...
For GBA, I have tried PocketGBA but I have a hard time with the controls. I'm not sure what it is capable of. I haven't seen any progress on it so I think it may have been abandoned..
For the keyboard, there is a cab out there called KforRaphael, and another called KforTouchPro. I don't remember where I downloaded them, but I'm fairly certain I found them somewhere on xda. KforRaphael seemed to work for me (although w/ still limited button mapping), while KforTouchPro did not. You may have different luck, though.
the PSX resident evil series on FpseCE 0.10 run great with sound. Check out my TP2 in action on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO-rrxJsr8s

Silent Hill? Of all games you want to replay Silent Hill? That game was too damn scary for me back than and I was maybe 16 or 17.
A friend of mine recently gave me his busted xbox 360 and it came with a few games as well as Silent Hill: Homecoming. I thought I could handle it now. Nope, I was wrong. I turned out all the lights and played on my 56in with 5.1 sound system in the living room. It was too damn scary for me again. I heard every little noise in front and behind me. 10 minutes into it I took it out and was done with that evil ass game.

that's the first game i tried .
and sadly, its hardly playable.. there is a white box that appears around the characters and sometimes they just disappear in the mist..
i'll upload a screencap and a list of games i have tried..
btw.. pm me if anyone has trouble finding a good site for the roms (although google still is your best friend for that )
edit: Screencaps added.
well, now that i tried it again.. the game isn't too unplayable.. I'll try finding a ripped rom.. maybe that works better.
Can someone see if metal gear solid works?
Sent from my Nexus One
ugh guys i ran into an issue i forgot about. if youre using the on screen keyboard, the nexus one multitouch screen is the issue. i was playing RE1 and i forgot that i had to hold the R+L button to use the weapon n sadly, we cant do that on our devices
**EDIT: FF7 seems to work fine. FF8 works fine except for the video at the very beginning of the game. i will test out MG Solid later on in the day**

Hahaha, that's the point. The sound of static was never the same afterward. I love love love this series (at least, up to SH3). It's probably going to be a lot less scary on a 3.7 in screen anyway.

RE runs good but the multitouch screen issue is a problem. if youre using a bluetooth control then it should work fine
Where did you get RE from tho? and what is everyone setting their fps to? default or something else?
How are emulators such as snesoid, gameboid, and psx4droid running on this? psx4droid or the other PS1 emulator running a lot better due to Tegra? Mine shipped today and will be here tomorrow and I'm just wondering...thanks!
FPSE is out for PSX emulation - it has worked well for Notion Ink Adam owners so far.

Yeah that's the one I meant. I've been playing around with it on my Droid X and it runs so much better than psx4droid. Do the emulators scale to the screen normally?
I havent personally tried yet as im waiting for my notion ink, but my friend has and says it works really well - you can choose the scaling in the options
awesome!
i just tried out pokemon fire red on gameboid. its hilarious to see it so big. lol. but it works great. scaling sound and controls are perfect.

Bluetooth Wiimote controller app still work as well? I'll end up using this as a damn portable >_<
Any word on that nullDC Dreamcast emu port? Should run a hell of a lot better on this beast!
Emulators are working great! Fullscreen and everything.
hmm i havent tried the wiimote just yet. i'm mid homework so ill give that a run in a few. ive never beleived in touch screen emulation other that games like pokemon or yugioh card games because movement isn't all that important. i cant imagine trying to run something like god of war without physical buttons.
Would anyone be kind enough to post a pic of their Xoom running snesoid, or any other emulator in 16:9 full screen/4:3 fullscreen? Mine was just delivered at my house but I'm stuck at work for another 6 hours...kill me. Thanks!

Yeah SNESoid and Gensoid are the top two I would use anyway (born in late 80s lol). It'll be interesting to see that nullDC (Dreamcast emu port) running on this. I know someone has it semi-running on some older hardware and it should run pretty decent on this.
n64droid is also right around the corner...who needs apps? XD

You have to find a site that you can download them from, not mentioning any since it might be against the rules here. I mean, there are apps where you can pay for a pack of roms, but it's just a total rip off.
I actually do own all the games (even the old carts) that I download roms for though, so I'm 100% safe either way =P

Nope, not specific. Only specific thing is the emulator per platform. I suggest trying out snesoid lite before buying to make sure everything goes good.

Just buy RomBuddy from the market. Works great, you pay a couple bucks for RomBuddy but then you can download a metric **** ton of free roms for gameboy/nes/snes/genesis and such from it.
Has anyone successfully tried this on the EVO? I haven't seen very many people attempt it, or at least write about it, so I was wondering if anyone's tried it, on what rom, and what experiences they've had with it?

Hmm, that's actually interesting, does your game lag towards the end of a level when you get a new plant card, and it zooms in on it with light shining?
My EVO does in that spot, which isn't a big deal but it'd be nice if it could get rid of instances such as that.

didnt notice lag with reduce texture quality in the settings so try it out but like so mANY things could vary from rom and from evo ya kno
I have it running with the nvidia plugin, samurai II works great!
Yeah, it seems like it might be worth a try. I wonder if it's let our EVO's run Playstation roms better or a game like Dungeon Defenders.
I use it with the texture unrolled and Nvidia plugin to play tetra zone games like Riptide gp (bit laggy and qaulity is off), pinball HD (pretty flawless)
