Need help! After installing magic button, when i run the phone the icon at the top next to the start button looks exactly like the phone icon. But after a while it changes to a system file icon, as if it cant find the correct phone icon any more.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling magic button. Doesnt help! The only thing that fixes this is reflashing the ROM, and installing magic button again. But then after a while the icon changes again back to a system looking one!!
PITA! Help someone, please
I get the same thing. Unfortunately I haven't a clue how to resolve it, but at least you know it's not just you!
Anyone got any ideas?
Wow...after reading i just checked it out myself...and its true...haha...didn't even notice till now, and i have no clue when it started to affect the icon.
Everything still works tho, and i guess i can live it, i mainly use MagicButton for the real close function and the bat bar up top, not as an app manager/switcher.
I just flashed back to 1.08 ship - then flashed back to 2.17 basic...
Installed all my stuff, everything is perfect! UNTIL a soft reset! Then the icon is messed up!
Does anyone know where the icon cache is? Or where to edit in the registry for the icons that magic button uses??
There has got to be a fix for this
Go to Settings->Personal->Menus and select 'Phone' as one of the items...the phone icon will stay in the Magic Button bar...
you need to do a soft reset too....and then start Magic Button again
Ah Ha!!! Magic Button looks in the start menu for the icons!
Brilliant!
As long as the phone is listed on the start menu, then magic button displays it correctly! If you remove phone from start menu, then it shows up in magic button as a missing icon (system looking icon)!!
Thanks for the help!

Does anybody face this problem with the JAM.
When I press the Permenant Save or the Device Information and some othet icons on the System Settings, I always get the backlight screen.
Any solution!... Thanks
Nope... all my icons are running the correct app.
(I think it's time for you to do a hard reset...)
Yeah, I've got the same problem :-(
It's somewhat intermittent...
So how do I remove those little icons down there? Looks like they are not part of "Today" screen (which can ofcourse be customized), I can't remove them there.
There must be some kind of registry tweak to remove that.
Battery status is completely unusable to me becouse track battery status other way on the Today screen.
nevermind i found out how to do it.
just remove init_tray from windows\startup and thats it!
Well i did just that and it works. but i noticed one not so good side effect. When i press down on the d-pad. Select the last thing on my today screen and press down again. The selection color (box, whateveryou want to call it) disapears and does not come back when i press up. I have to use the touch screen to get the selection color back.
Removing the status bar
When I checked the windows/startup folder there was no tray_init listed on my XDA Orbit.
However, I renamed the windows\TrayAp.exe by putting my initials in front as follows -
windows\ahTrayAp.exe
I then did a soft reset and the tray and icons no longer appear.
I have reset a few times and it the stus bar still doesn't appear
Sometimes when I read a new message and hit the reply softkey, the busy animation appears in the center, the side scroll bar flashes between what it should be and like a scrollbar in the scrollbar and the 'x' button flashes between the x and ok. The only way I can get it to stop doing this is by softreseting the device. I have the T-Mobile MDA and I have tried to do a hard reset which proved to be useless. I then tried to reinstall the rom and that did not solve the problem either. Finally I got frustrated so I ripped off the screen protector and STILL it does it. Can anyone suggest anything?
Thank you.
I have used the registry hacks to get rid of the battery icon and the wireless manager icon from the bottom tray. However, when I switch the phone to vibrate, there is still an icon there that shows up (a black rectangle with a red line around it). Is there a hack to stop that icon from showing?
I guess that is a no?
I would like to know if this is possible also.
There is a shortcut on my Hermes called 'TrayIcon_MannerMode' pointing to /Windows/TrayIcon_Mannermode.exe but nothing seems to happen when I run it.....
Think twice before you remove comm manager from there as it make boot unstable and device very slow.
This would not be a full solution, but could the icon simply be shrunk (ie. to 1 pixel tall) so that it if it was the only thing in the tray at least it would steal minimal screen real-estate ?
Mike
I was able to remove that icon by disabling TrayIcon_MannerMode from the list on the startup items. The problem is that after doing that it became impossible for me to activate the vibrate mode using the default hardware key (long press on commmgr key). If you are fine with that then perhaps you could try it.

Can you tell me where you find the list of startup items? I am not the best at this stuff.
Thanks.

file explorer/my device/windows/startup
I just downloaded diniks taskbar and it really messed up my phone, first there's no icons at the top just the time and start. But when I press start nothing happens my phone is freezing bad I can't even go to the file explorer, I removed the taskbar through pc. Please help me my phone isn't working right at all.
Ok my phone isn't freezing up anymore and I have removed the program through my pc, finally went to file explorer and it's not showing up on there so what I want to know is why don't I have my icons back at the top, why can't I have my phone back like it was before I installed the taskbar 1.5. I still can't go to the start screen when I press it and when I get a call or text the icons show, the icons that show are the ones that I wanted in the begining(dinik anastasia taskbar) why are they showing if I removed it?
I encountered this before and I tried real hard trying to find out what caused it. After you installed the application, did you reboot your phone? It could be other programs having compatibility issues with it. I just ended up hard resetting my phone. The lesson I learned is to make notes after each installation and do a tideous test if I can of the functionality of the phone just to make sure everything is working properly before I install another app again.
Hopefully someone else has a better solution.
I just got it fixed someone from another site helped me out, I had to install one more thing to make it work right. I feel better now lol...

What exactly did it take? It would help others dealing with it if you posted what you found.
I know what you did
You forgot to insall he skcert.cam. I know this because I just did this last night. I figured out that my bottom home menue still worked though. I scrolled all the way to settings and removed the task bar.
I thought that once you installed it once you wouldnt have to install it again when you wanted to change your task bar. I was wrong. Each time you uninstall a task bar and want to install another one you must run the cert file.

I too had to learn this the hard way. I did not need a hard reset just moved the slider to remove programs and restarted and it was fine. I had to use the updated skcert cab though the first one did not work at all. But now I am styling with the dinink taskbar

I don't mind learning lessons the hard way. As long as they don't brick my phone. LOL. That is what is stopping me from flashing a rom. I am scared of messing it up. one little mistake and its back to my old beat up blackberry LOL>
