2020 hard reset if battery is too low - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hallo,
I have a qtek 2020 and the matter is that in object:
if I leave my qtek for many days without to recharge it, and therefore discharge of all, it loses all the data and the installed programs: in practical, qtek endures a hard reset.
Is this one normal what or draft of a malfunctioning?
Thanks
Giuseppe

Hi g_dangelo!
Yes, this is quite normal. Information is stored in volatile RAM if using Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE so if your pda stops receiving power the information will perish. Windows Mobile 5 doesn't have such a problem as it uses the volatile memory only for temporary RAM.

just a quick q....

I'm on the verge of buying an Exec from o2, and I just noticed on the the spec sheet on the o2 shop fot the Exec, that it states:
PC Sync........NO
Surely this is not correct? I was under the impression that it used ActiveSync 4 to sync with the PC?
I've found my XDA2 has become so unstable, I need to back up up every day to avoid loosing every thing - it has started completely crashing every few weeks - needing a hard boot. While I hope the Exec would be considerably more stable, I cannot assume such, so a sync/backup function is (IMHO) essencial.
cheers
Paul
Must be a typo. Every PPC syncs to a PC!

RAM and freezing of the GSM part

Hi everybody,
I have two problems:
1) the size of programm memory (RAM). Today I got my 1gb miniSD card and did HR and reinstalling everything but then the memory bar (SPB pocket plus) reads only about 16MB? before that i had about 24-25 MB of RAM????
2) Sometimes happens that the Wizard totally looses the signal and it wont do a thing which needs a communication part. It just shows looking for signal and thats it. SR or turning on and off the flight mode helps sometimes. But its annoying?
Does anyone pls. know answers??? I would be very happy to hear it. THX

GSM / RAM
My activated GSM module (MDA Vario german WM5) deactivates itself unpredictably and goes to the enter PIN dialog. It happens mostly after turning it on in the morning (I leave it switched off during the night). Have no idea what causes this effect :-(
I try to solve the low RAM problem by a Softreset + the Free RAM utility from SK tools. It helps to initiate the prog RAM to the maximum possible size ( depends on istalled software).

w2003se on jasjar ?

hello there
wouldnt it be wise if we downgraded jasjar into wm2003se , and enjoy the speed of a <20mb rom (is such a rom available) ?????
I was thinking about the same issue couple of days ago, I really beleive that it would have been much faster and more stable.
WM5 is still new, and till now they are trying to improve its performance, and I hope they will do it soon.
If there is a WM2003 Rom for my Imate Jasjar I will be the first one to downgrade till I find a reliable WM5 ROM.

r u serious
r u serious :?: :!:
obviously there are problems with WM5, as it is a relatively new OS; but
despite all its downfalls it is still a more advanced OS than WM2003 - e.g.: the fact that information is retained in memory even after the battary has 'died'.
besides, particularly due to the changes in the memory infrastracture, is the Universal capable of handling the old OS?
- it was supposedly designed around the new OS.
the lack of a backup software is a killing mistake in my opinion, (off battery) is not the only way data can be lost. slowness is not excusable...
i demand a win2003se rom for jasjar coz selling it on ebay with a 100$ is the sole ulternative

SD card "disappears"

Hello,
I have a Blue Angel (O2 Xda IIs). The problem is that sometimes the device doesn't see my SD card even though it is inserted. I thought that maybe it's a hardware error (lose conector or card doesn't perfectly holds in place) so i left it on the table and turn on Audio manager to play music, also I had palringo messenger running using GPRS connection, and after approx. 10min the device stopped playing, the Audio manager was showing an error that songs asociated to this playlist don't exist. When i opened my fileExplorer (GSFinder) the Storage Card was missing. After ejecting and inserting the card for a few times the device found it. Then I checked palringo and I had received one message, approx at the time when the device stopped playing. I tried different cards, different campacities and i get the same result: when using GPRS the card just "disappears", well at least more often then when not using GPRS.
Then another time when the card "disappeared" i didn't touch the card, just soft reset it, and the card was back.
Well, i believe that the card driver is the problem, because if it was a hardware problem the soft reset wouldn't brought back the card.
Stats:
ROM WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20226 (Build 20226.1.3.0 PV DVH)
Radio rom 1.13.xx (don't remember last digits)
I don't want to change the rom, because this one is very good, it has everything i need, i don't like "clean" roms, because they're too clean for me. If someone can sugest a simillar rom to this one i will gladly try.
Sorry for my english
I've got the same problem too, every time I connect to the net using GPRS my SD card disappears, if anyone knows the remedy to this, please help us out.
U should try the radio rom 1.15.

Battery problem !

Hello to the forum !
I've updated my new P3300 to WM6 and now i've a problem: the battery goes down very quickly.
My mobile operator is TIM (Italy).
Could someone help me ?
Thanks in advance.
which ROM? Which radio do you have?
ROM : 3.13.408.1.ITA
RADIO : 02.94.90
This should be the original HTC WM6 for Artemis P3300 !
Thanks for your help !
I'd like to help but what can I say..How long does your battery last in "normal use"?WM6 may be a little more consuming than WM5 but not to knock down your device in a couple of hours. Maybe your battery is coming near to its endTry to install BatteryStatus to monitor the Power drain.Roughly should be at around 75mA in Stanby and 150-170mA with screen on (only gsm on).Actually my battery is getting old too and I am looking for a good version of BaterryStatus (even older versions) that refreshes values faster. If we find it,we could exchange some data about our Artemis' behaviour. Try also to change radio, to see what happens.
My P3300 is new. I've bought two of these devices few days ago by TIM (one of these was for my wife and she still use branded TIM WM5 without any problem).
The retail price was very low due to the long device stock time (now i'm supposing)...only 99Euro for each device.
I think that the battery was very old (more then 3yo) but in any case i've found this problem after updating to WM6.
Where I can find the RADIO updating ?
I see the WIKI on XDA but in ftp the server ask me the password that i don't know...could you give me this password (if it is pubblic password) ?
Could you give me some information about batterystauts monitor ?
Thanks a lot.
Radios can be found here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_RadioUpgrades. Notes:by installing another radio you won't loose any device data but you have to unlock it first (read posts!!!). As you have an original ROM, you probably did not do it before..
BatteryStatus is a small freeware app that sticks on today screen and shows some of the device's parameters, including the power consumption (in mAmpere). By observing this value you can make sure that you don't have any excessive draining, for instance if windows is not closing some devices (gps,wifi..) correctly after use. As you have 2 artemis, i suggest you to install it on both; even if they have two different WM they should drain battery in a similar way (not one the double than the other). Would be also interesting to exchange batteries between your two phones.
I've already phisically exchange the two batteries and reallineate microSD card and SIM card with phone contacts, now power consumption seem to be good.
Now I try to install BatteryStatus on both devices.
What about the XDA ftp password for download ?
Thanks you're very kind.
Ciao.
Marco
Ciao,
no ftp password needed for the radios, just click the one you like and you'll be redirected to the related trhead.
Ciao Marco,
No processor overclocking, correct? (+speed= -battery)
Radio Version is Low (generally means less consume), so this shall not be the reason, anyway it was the same as my old one, I've upgraded it to 3.18.90 working better in reception now, I've downloaded it from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397939
I've tried many WM6 ita edition and WM6.1 ita, but at the end I went for a Pure edition
WM6.1 Pro ITA - Ver 3.13.00 - Radio 02.94.90 Prot 4.1.12.44
Light edition, then on it I've added just few fixes and what I wanted...
Personally I advice you to go for an ufficial ROM,
Maybe this is the reason of the problem!
cooked bad = battery eater (maybe you have so much useless stuff running that asks the processor to run fast even when you're not using it!)
Till now the higher official ITA rom is 6,00, works fine but doesn't have Threaded SMS option...

Good Luck!
After another hardware reset (and microSD and SIM repositioning) the problem seem to be disappeared.
Thanks for your help.
Marco
