I've had a play with Themegen ce, and read the help file. I've also read the info here.
But...I still dont get it
Can someone explain what it is I need to do (from within themegen?) to be able to change the colour of the top start bar, and bottom bar in order to match me theme?
thanks!
BaseHue
With WM5 :
See Help File ThemeGenCEEn.chm which is given with the application.
Click on ThemeGenCE job button.
Click on Key BaseHue in the index of the page.
And you see all explanations for this key.
Don't forget to check the checkbox Create BaseHue Key for the theme and leave the Form by clicking on Validate button, if not BaseHue will not be integrated in the theme.
Thanks again benthon for a great piece of software. It seems to be almost complete now and all wm5 tweaks are possible. It seems a bit back to front though can the wm5 settings be default and not the wm 2003 or an option to change this - as more and more devices are wm5.
Cheers
p.s. can you give us any hints on upcoming revisions?
Thanks for your encouragements !
If i have time this summer, i will do a version with WM5 settings by default.
I will give you informations about this.
Forum.xda-developers was a great help for me to develop and improve ThemeGenCE !
Cheers as you said and friendly, BenThon.

Dear all,
in WM2003 i couldn't use many good today themes (Horizon is a good example) because the text color turns to white for the unselected items. It seems that's why all MS themes are using white text on a dark image so the start menu text will be reversed to black. I thought that MS implemented the 'contextual revers logic' but seems they didn't want to pay extra effort
Anyway, for the users of XDA I with WM2003 (may be it's solved in XDA II) you can solve this issue by modifying the following registery key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Color
if it doesn't have, add a new 'binary' entry as following:
name: 39
value: 50 50 50 00
this should give you a readable menu text for the most themes that has light background.
Enjoy it ...
That works even for the ROM-upraded XDA II !! Thanks a lot. only if you change the today theme, the new binary code 39 is missing and you have to get it into "COLOR" again...?!
Yes! .. this is true ... but if the theme .tsk file was built while color #39 was included in the theme.inf file, you wouldn't need to re-adjust it.
Unfort. there is no theme generator for PPC2002 that takes this field into account, and I couldn't find one works for WM2003 in specific :?
However, you can write a very tiny program to run after changing the theme to adjust this registry value ... or to put it in the \windows\startup directory.
it works
Thanks for the tip Biso007! It works
No more transparent menu items
Thank you
Thank you Bisso we needed that tip
But still you can use Pocket Theme manager 2 from BVRP www.bvrp.com they solved this issue thus for whom are having problem with the today pictures you can adjust the colors to 4096 [/url]
You can also try this:
http://www.funnysnake.com/products_tkcreater.php
It's free, and the last relese works with ppc 2003 themes too.
Sorry for my ignorance, but where do I find
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Color
Waht software do I need to gain acces to this registry?
PHM registry editor is a very good one
Great tip, was wondering how to do this for some time. Thanks,
db
great tip, just what I was looking for
is there any way to change it to any thing other then black or white?
Have you ever taken a look at the gallery section over on www.origamiproject.com ? It's filled with a bunch of pretty nice-looking wallpapers for UMPCs, but UMPCs aren't available until much later, rendering these small wallpapers useless... until now. I've picked ten different images from that gallery and customized themes for each of them (creating eleven themes total). I also enhanced the themes to fit in with a somewhat universal layout for the today screen.
Keep in mind that these themes are designed for Wizard users with the latest Qtek ROM (2.17 or higher) installed! The reason I say this is because the date on the today screen takes up two lines in the newer ROM, and the today screen background reflects the position of the date bar. If you're confused, take a look at the previews below, you'll see what I mean.
Anyway, as I was saying before, each theme has carefully selected colors to best match their backgrounds, and all of them work in both portrait and landscape mode. I tried my hardest to smooth out the gradients that sometimes give problems on PPC screens. Oh, and I also thought of a cheezy name for each one. The previews along with a ZIP of all the themes are attached to this post, so go crazy. And if you haven't updated to the latest ROM yet, shame on you. Go do it, you won't regret it.
P.S. - If anybody knows how to skin the Phone screen (where you dial the number and everything), PLEASE let me know. It really, really clashes with a lot of these themes...
AND... if anybody knows how to make the date take up only one line, move the clock to the top, and put the battery back at the bottom, that would be amazing. That way I could re-make all these themes so that they could work with EVERYBODY that has a WM5 device!
very nice. just applied the first theme on my exec
Great job with the themes! I hope you are able to find out about skinning the phone screen and reducing the Date Bar to one line.
Beautiful yanathin! Thanks for putting the effort into these great themes.
very clean look you have going on there.
Are those icons along the bottom just regular shortcuts? If so I'm gonna have to look into how to do that myself.
great work!
Thanks for the compliments everybody! Yes, the bottom basically acts like SBSH iLauncher or SPB Pocket Plus's launcher. It's a single part of the PHM PowerToys ( http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/PowerToys/ ) called "TrayLaunch." You'd be utterly amazed at how fast this device runs WITHOUT SPB Pocket Plus installed, even without a "real" close button.
Amazing themes and even better work yanathin!!
Yes great work !
Thanks
Really nice ones, allready installed, thx !
change background dialpad
I haven't found a way to change the keys of the dialpad yet but i have a simple way to change the background of your dialpad in combination with plain darkgrey keys:
Download the attached file and run it on your mobile to get the darkgrey "keys" from Vodafone, these keys match best with whatever background you want to use:
(file is also at: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Misc/Vodafone_dialpad.zip)
Next you create in MS Paint / Photoshop or whatever program you like, two BMP image files with the following properties, you can use any file as background.
- name: "Bkgnd_Port.bmp" / resolution: 240x268 pixels (portrait)
- name: "Bkgnd_Land.bmp" / resolution: 320x188 pixels (landscape)
Copy these files to the \windows folder on your mobile and overwrite the existing vodafone skin.
After a soft-reset your dialpad has changed!
I changed mine to plain gray:
I love those themes!
for dialpad skins, take a look at http://www.zombienexus.net/
thanks for sharing. here's a link to some of my simple themes.

As far as i know it's a cab from German Vodafone. It works perfectly with my Dutch NL ROM, therefor i think it should also work with a WWE ROM because it just gets the language of the ROM-version.
Hi,
how to add a button like the 'Up' button in explorer? I think that they are called soft-key buttons. so how to add them? and are they supported in WM2003?
I also see Resco explorer implements them.
Thanks,
Mohammad
Ok, maybe I havent clarified things so I post a picture of what I want. hope you will help me
You can't.
The soft keys are a feature of WM5. They are actually regular menus. If you create an app with just two menus it will display like that on WM5 device and in the normal fashion on WM2003.
The only thing you can try is covering the menu bar and simulating the soft keys and the SIP button. Read about SHFullScreen on MSDN.

This is not quite true, you can have the same behaviour in WM2003SE, the only difference is that you have to do everything by your own.
In both OS, the so called menubar is in fact a toolbar. So in WM2003SE, if you want to have the same effects as in WM2005, you have to subclass the toolbar and use custom drawing. You also need to handle the SIP window, if you want to place it in the center. Of course, this is not straight forward...
Cheers,
.Fred
ok. now I know its possible. but can anybody provide some relevant links?? Thanks

Sorry I don't think you will find a lot on this matter on the net, I already made a dig, but not much found.
Anyway,
1) try http://www.pocketpcdn.com, especially the forums and look for toolbar, commandbar and shmenubar
this article will give you some hints: http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/right_toolbar.html
2) read msdn about toolbar subclassing and NM_CUSTOMDRAW handling
3) read msdn about shmenubar api
3) use Spy++ or related application to hook the menubar in wince and see what you get
4) make some tests and you will have something like that (full image in zip):

Hi,
I have searched too much but found almost nothing about this issue. Please anybody has any article, link or sample project?? I need it very much.
Mohammad
mohgdeisat: what do you really need to know?
Start by making a project, and cosmetically program a custom menu bar/button bar to emulate the WM5 menu bar. It's not impossible, it's actually quite easy, but it is tedious.
Once you can do that, come back and show us.
Next step will be to patch it into your target app.
Realistically this is quite a tough task, at least if you want to generically patch soft keys into the whole OS, because softkeys (and menu bars) and prepared on a per app basis - the menu bar on the Today screen in Wm2003 is different to WM5 for example. You would have to parse in the WM2003 menu into your emulated WM5 softkeys, per app, and even then it would still not match WM5, because the WM5 menus have been reordered from wm2003 apps to match the Microsoft design guidelines for softkeys.
But start by emulating the softkeys in a standalone app, before thinking about the next task.

Yes VJ, I really need to make my first step to learn this stuff, and I will do it soon with god's willing.
I have First exams this week so I might start it next week and I will post what I get here to have your feedback.
Thanks all and good luck
I've been looking around, but did not find any fix for Re's launcher and slider. The original executable files we're using the system time (i.e. Greenwich meridean time) for the clock. So if your country is not located at 0.00 hours, the time will be all whacked out.
So I had to do it on my own! Here is the "fixed" executable files using Local time instead. I did not do any other modification. This is not my program and do not take credit for any of it, I just changed the time.
Get the complete files from here http://rychlicki.net/en/2007/04/01/174/
Then replace the executable files with mine. Hope you enjoy!
It works. I only have to do the WM2003 regfix and change most of the links
Can't find the options using PHM regeditor
Note : WM2003 manual workaround
2. Create string key "Current Operator Name" and provide your operator name
3. Create dword key "Signal Strength Raw" and give decimal value "100"
This will show the operator name you provided and signal strenght always 100%
This software is very old now. There are lots of other options currently available that provides a better "iPhone" look. Check these forums, they're two of the best:

That's for WM5/6 This is for WM2k3
Nope, both works for WM2003SE. I should know coz I got a Jam.
Grumps prog is self sustained. iTask needs additional progs like Mortscript and flash, but the transition animation are very impressive.
I'm also using Wisbar Advance Desktop now. Check my skin contribution here:

very good
thank you Re's launcher, its quite impressive work. i've installed the Fix version and i dont have to switch to the windows again to see what time is it now. by the way, i've customized the execution button, is it ok?
thank you, good work.
How to change the launcher to work for screen size 240x240
hi guys, I would like to use Re's launcher and slider on my Hw6510 but the screen size is 240x240. so you see the problem. is it possible to fix the launcher and slider so I can see everything on the screen? thank you.
Hi,
I realize that this question was asked a million times on the forum, but I've been looking for a solution since yesterday and just can't find it
Can anyone tell me how can I change the default touch input language (T9) on Windows Mobile 6.5? I'm using the Rhodium Manila with the new Keyboard and I have by default english language (I'd like to have polish).
I cannot change this in any way. I've tried to do it by registry in several keys, but it won't work.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Hey,
for me this worked:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3865875&postcount=362
else you can change HKLM\Software\HTC\ezsip\BioToShowMenu to 1 (in registry) and wait for few seconds.. (not more than 10sec) that "starts" the sip-menu, and you can click on your language
maybe it says [unknown] in the menu, then click there, that brings you to the language submenu
hope that helps you

Great! It helped, thanks a lot
Sorry for the double post, just wanted everyone to notice it
I've made a cab, which changes the registry value (thanks to tomoffel), so that you have easy access to the SIP Menu. I tried to do it as a reg file, but it would require some additional program to run it.
Just install it (don't mind if it shows 'The installation was unsuccesful') and voila
The cab is rather only for WM6.5, where the SIP menu is hidden.
great idea! Thank you!
just poping up the SIPmenu after "installation"?
btw. found the BioToShowMenu entry by playing around in the registry, don't know if this was known befor maybe that helps to fix the SIP menu in 6.5?
Yeah, exactly I thought that changing the reg value everytime I want to change the language or keyboard type is a but uncomfortable. It's a pity though that running reg files requires some additional software, because it would be faster.
That's some nice discovery of you with that reg value I'm not that so much in WM, but I hope this can help!
Ok, here's the other way. You have to install an app (FdcSoft Task Manager), it will associate reg files, so that after clicking one the reg value will be changed.
Here's the reg file content:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ezsip\]
"BioToShowMenu"=dword:00000001
The last line must be empty!
Credits for finding the reg key go to tomoffel
And here's the ready file in the attachment.
great and awesome! works like a charm

Good to know Here's another upgrade to access the menu faster - just do a shorcut and put it into start or assign a hardkey for it
I assigned the shortcut to GScrolls Launch function now wenn I tap back and center, the SIP-Menu comes up! Thank you again
now you/we/the uber pros just have to find a way how the "SIP-Button" shows that menu.. but it looks like nobody is interesstet :/
Offtopic:
can you add new words to the xt9 database? This never worked for me :/ neither after hardrest nor after installing another sip that uses the xt9 :/ (just ask because I see you use the same ROM )
That's a good idea with assigning the menu to GScroll, will try it myself
I noticed already yesterday that adding new words to t9 doesn't work It could be an issue with the rom we are using. Would be nice to have some feedback from anyone with a different rom...
yes.. pretty poor nobody on the ROM thread could give me an answer :/ I will play a little with the registry and file from ezSIP maybe I'll find another "solution"
