Can someone point me in the right direction I've doen numerous searchs and talked to tech support (useless) . I have a 8125 that I picked up, although I am a AT&T sim card user (our company hasn't upgraded yet) so I unlocked the phone and it works great. although I can not access mmode or anything email or Internet related unless using wifi.
Can someone point me in the right direction for some instructions on how to get this thing set up to work with the legacy AT&T wireless system?
You need to manually enter the AT&T GPRS and MMS settings.
Call up AT&T and ask for the necessary information. They'll give it to you.
PM me you're email address I have the cab file that I can send to you.

Well they don't exist anymore and the guys at Cingular could only get me so far. that's why I'm looking around for it.
Mark, you have a PM, thanks in advance
Cab file didnt work Mark. Only change it made was resetting my today backround to the default. all the settings are still the same.
is there a list of settings or a walk through for setting it up manually somewhere?
It should have worked.
Here is what I have:

Hope this makes sense.
Another option is to go to the Cingular web page and choose Support, Phone/Device Support.
Select the following:
Network: former AT&T Wireless"
Manufacturer: Siemens
Model: SX66
Use the information in Device Setup to configure the browser/internet and MMS settings. It won't match exactly because the SX66 is a 2003 device, but you should be able to figure it out.

Thanks for info
Thanks for that information,
I have been trying to get ROGERS to tell me that information for the last month, but they don't like anwering any questions for unsupported devices.
By the way... which WAP browser are you using. Are they any other alternatives to EZWAP?
Cheers... pk

Hi Peter,
I have been using the included ezwap. Works well so I haven't spent any time trying other applications. Mind you the Rogers wap site does have some problems. The site does not work exactly as indicated on the mobile home page.

Couple of questions:
1) Included EZWAP? Which version... I am using 2.5. I cannot find where to enter some of the addresses/ports you have provided under EZWAP or the CONNECTIONS setting for the XDA.
2) Can you access any banking sites on the Rogers mymobilehomepage?
3) What device does Rogers think you have. When I actually conncected once with the Rogers wap site it have me the following error "Your mobile device has not been recognized. Please contact Rogers AT&T customer care for assistance"
Thanks for the help so far... look forward to your responses. PK
Set-up for SX56
I'm having trouble accessing the Internet on my SX56 with these settings. I can establish a connection, however I cannot access anything with EZWAP or Internet Explorer.
I'm not sure how to use the IP address and port settings provided. The SX56 only has room for one IP Address and when I used the primary IP address above, I could no longer connect.
I've simply used goam.com as the APN and the wapuser1 and wap as the login information.
Are there any other settings I should be using (DNS, Domain, etc.). Thanks in advance for any help.
JT
I am using SX56 with Rogers AT&T in Canada and it works fine. You do not use goam, simply change that to internet.com and user name is : wapuser1 and password: wap. do not put any D.N.S. or anything. give that a try.
Thanks a lot...works like a charm!
I tried your recommendations on my SX56 with Rogers AT&T and get the same message regardless if I use internet.com or vpn.com. Yet I have managed to get a page to load with internet.com after several attempts.
With vpn.com, it says...
Cannot Connect
Dialed: vpn.com
The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings.
With internet.com, it says...
Cannot Connect
Dialed: internet.com
The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings.
Could this be a signal strength issue? (See my post in the General Forum)
Can connect - just can't access anything
I've tried the various connections mentioned above. I've also tried using "goam.com" and "internet.com". I can make a connection using "goam.com" but can't access any web pages or WAP. Internet Explorer keeps giving me the message that the web page cannot be found.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks in advance. I look forward to everyone's responses.
you need to subscrbe to a data plan from rogers... it's not free.
I realize that it's not free - although I wish it were
I have subscribed to a data plan.
I have been trying , unsucessfully, to configure my Siemens SX56 to connect to the internet and send e-mail after I upgraded to the Special Rom. It connects but doesn't load the pages and it tells me it cannot connect with current settings. I do not want to wipe clean my device and start over w/o the Special Rom because it has so many cool apps and after my contract expires I am on my way to T-Mobile, so unlocking is key! I have looked at this forum and there is no settings for ATTWS in US. Only Rogers (Canada) Can someone please help this newbie!
Thanks in advance for answering
AT&T WAP Settings
I figured it out since no one seemed to know. If anyone needs any settings for AT&T (US) here they are:
HTTP: localhost Port: 9090
WAP: 10.250.250.250 Port: 9201
Socks: 127.0.0.1 Port: 1080
Type is Socks 4
I created a new connnection called "MY connection Two" since the regular "GPRS connection" tab did not have a tab for proxy settings.

Sorry, I was away for a bit and would have answered if I had seen your request. The other parts I would add to your listed config are that the Access Point Name (APN) is:
Proxy
If you select Cellular Line (GPRS) as the transport, the dialing info will be filled in correctly by itself, resulting in something like "~0GPRS!Proxy" (not sure if that's exact, my XDA isn't right here. If for some reason you need to manually set a GPRS dial sting for ATTWS I believe it is:
*99*#
As opposed to to T-Mobile which is *99***2#
Thanks for answering Mad Max!!
Now if I can only get my Internet Explorer to work I would be all set!!!
Hi,
I'm an att sx56 user, flashed to t-mobile's 40016 for 2003. Everything works real nice but I can't seem to get the att gprs settings correct. Here's what I have,
For Modem Settings:
----------------------
Name: Myatt
Cellular Line(GPRS)
APN: *99*# ( i've also tried +0 ~GPRS!proxy)
username/password/domain all blank
TCP/IP: Use server specified IP address
Server: Use server assigned address
VPN Empty:
Proxy Settings:
-----------------
Localhost 9090
10.250.250.250 9201
127.0.0.1 1080
Socks4
Do you know if I'm missing anything or what I've got set wrong here?
Thanks!

The APN should just be "proxy" alone. All the other junk (+0~GPRS!) is stuff the system fills in when it displays the dialing status, but shouldn't be included in your entry in the APN field. You shouldn't need to enter the *99*# string anywhere either unless you need to establish your own dialing config for some reason.
Also, the fact that you're entering proxy configs in WM2003 implies that you're setting up you connection under the "work settings" section as opposed to the "internet settings", which is fine, just wanted to make sure that's what you intended. Under 2003, unless you need to set proxy settings for your specific needs, then setting the APN name to "proxy" and selecting "Cellular Line (GPRS)" as the modem is pretty much all you need to do.
I have done what you both have said and still NO LUCK! AHH ok here is all of my specs:
Siemens SX56:
Windows Pocket PC Version 3.0.12039
ROM Version 3.17.03 ENG
ROM DATE 5/15/03
Radio Version A.20.10
Protocol Version 324e4
Confirming you're using the XDA-Dev SP ROM 1.2 if so leave try leaving your "proxy" settings blank and see if that helps.
HTH
no tilde stuff
I have been trying to do this stuff for a while now....
I am having the "page cannot be found" problem.
ppcpe 2003
ROM version : 4.00.05 ENG
Radio version: A.20.10
protocol version: 324e4
I set up a new connection called My GPRS.
I have all the right proxy settings (I've been reading forums on this for weeks now) I put "proxy" in as my APN name. On the modem tab, i have
Name: My Connection 1
Number: proxy
I don't see the ~GPRSyadayada....just proxy.
I have the Network Settings using My GPRS connection.
Here's the cooky part...I have a Yahoo chat software package that works great! I can send and receive like it's going out of style. But I cannot get Either internet explorer OR ftxPBrowser to connect to any pages.
What's up here?
Just joined Cingular today and am having MMS problems. I've searched on "Cingular MMS" thruout this forum but have not seen any WIZARD USA MMS connection settings. Remember, WIZARD is using WM5 which has a few differences in these setups.
I signed up with Cingular's MEdiaWorks which has data and MMS. I have the data connect working. My settings:
1) My ISP
2) Add a new modem connection
3) Name for connection: <user choice>
4) Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
next
5) APN: wap.cingular
next
6) Username, password & domain: leave blank
finish
This works, connects to Cingular data and I've had up to 135Kbps data rates which is definantly EDGE speeds.
Now for MMS, which I can't get working. I also have never used MMS so I'm not sure of it's interaction with connections, WAP and the phone.
I send a MMS message, it connects,is sending and returns with error message:
"Unable to send your message(s). Your message(s) will be saved in the Outbox."
In MMS section, I click of Menu (WM5)-MMS Configuration, up comes 3 tans. Here are my Servers settings:
Server Name: Cingular MMSC
Gateway: 66.209.11.61
Port Modem: 9201
Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via: (I've tried My ISP and My Work Network without success)
Sending size limitation: 100K
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
In searching, suggestions were to set up a "My Work Network" connection as follows:
Connection name: WAP
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
next
APN: wap.cingular
User name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Domain: blank
finish
Then they said to set up a proxy server which I did as follows:
Check box "This network connects to the Internet"
Check box "This network uses a proxy server ..."
Leave proxy server blank
Click on Advanced
Set both WAP and Secure WAP to:
Server: 66.209.11.61
Port: 9201
User names, password and domain, leave blank
This does not work.
Interestingly, the two connections (My ISP & My Work network) have the same APN, wap.cingular?????
I read one post saying something like you had to configure MEdia Works on your phone. What does this mean?
Any thoughts in the WIZARD community would be helpful. Does Cingular USA even support MMS for the WIZARD??? Yikes
I haven't even got to setting up Express Mail yet. I'm sure another post is comming.
Thanks all
Craig

The HTC WIZARD for Cingular is actualy the HTC 8125 model. Do a google search on 'Cingular 8125' and you see lot's of info. Even Best Buy are starting to carry them ...
I signed up for expressMail from Cingular but they don't have the phone client posted on their web site for the 8125 (Wizard). They do have the HTC 2125 (Smartphone) client but don't offer that phone for sale at their site anyway.
I think we're getting closer to the Wizard at Cingular.
best buy is selling the 8125's alreadY? i'm gonna make a trip down there today!

Cingular MMS Settomgs
Here's a CAB file with the MMS settings for Cingular. It seems to work on my Qtek 9100.
does someone have the same cab file for t-mobile usa (to be used with qtek 9100)
Here's the VPN enabled and without VPN CAB files (USA)
I have attached both the VPN enabled and non-VPN enabled CAB files.
Now that the 8125 is out on cingular, all the mms and medianet settings can be found on the cingular support site. Check it out here:

Give this a try. It doesn't have the 8525 listed (of course). But I'm sure you can choose one of the other devices and the info should be somewhat standard.
gprs settings for suncom
I am using an HTC TyTn, it is very similar.
the settings that i haqve gotten to work after much trial and error are as follows.
make a new connection called "internet"
Cellular line GPRS
access point name: mobileinternet
user name, password, and domain are blank
and thats it.
MMS settings are:
create a server i called it suncom mms
gateway: 66.150.33.115
port:9201
server address: http://mms.suncom.net:8088/mms
connect via: i set to my isp (im not sure if this matters but it is working)
wap version: WAP 1.2
The wap version and port number are fixed on my phone. I have found that the port number is more inportant than the wap version.
I hope this helps.
thanks for the settings but I am still unable to send MMS --I set the WAP as the gateway #is that the correct place to enter it
Hi I have a Tytn II with Dutty's WM6.1 Official UC 5.2.19199 RTM

Settings?
I too am looking for the settings, specially for MMS. Internet and SMS seem to work fine but MMS is a 'no-go.' Oh, I too am on WM6.5... and does anyone know what happened to T-Mo's configuration pages? Now it's a pay service?!?!
yea i need these settings too can someone post them on this page??
these settings are readily available on the internet.
If anyone gets charged any fees for using this dont complain to me. this is not exactly the best setup but it does work. all it is is the tzones proxy work around with a step or 2 added nothing that hasnt been posted before. but still its not my info i'm just passing it along.
In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data:
Tmobile Data Connects to: WAPNetwork
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Add a 2nd GPRS option:
T-Mobile Data 2

Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
T-mobile internet
connects to : internet
access point: wap.voicestream.com
T-Mobile MMS
connects to : T-Mobile MMS
access point: wap.voicestream.com
Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy
First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy 2 Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
