Gapless MP3 playback - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Has anyone found an audio playback utility which will give gapless MP3 playback on the XDA Exec? I've tried WMPlayer, TCPMP, Pocket Player and GS Player. I'm beginning to think that the PPCs RAM is too small, but how can this be when I have 20+ Mb Program memory free with one running? :?

I found a posting on Brighthand http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=219525 to a program called iPlay (http://iplay.40th.com/) which apparently had the ability to do gapless playback.
Haven't tried it myself, so I can't vouch for it.
[edit] Idiotic site doesn't seem to work on Opera, but does display on IE6

Pocketmusic has it. http://www.pocketmind.com/pmfp.htm

Then, you don't understand what gapless means. If 2 Songs on a CD are mixed together, without a small secound of silence, you will not hear the change from track01 to track02. Normaly if you grab the 2 Tracks into mp3 files you can play this 2 files maybe in Windows Media Player 10 for Windows XP and you will also have this clean run over from track01 to track02. On my MDA Pro I cant have this clean run in WMP Mobile and TCPMP ... haven'd tryed other players.

Best Media Player for WM5/PocketPC?

Is the best media player CorePlayer for the PocketPC? I want to ask everyone before going out and spending the whopping $20.
I just want one solution, the best solution, so I don't have to revisit this again and have something that will play both my audio and video file types.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

The best may be the freeware version of CorePlayer, TCPMP
Would anyone have the link to TCPMP? I tried Google'ing but kept running into dead links.
Never mind, found it.
What about here?

EDIT: Damn, it didn't work either...

Why not install both TCPMP and Coreplayer? That way you also get AC3 support through TCPMP if ever you need it.
I get an error with TCPMP with AC-3 audio - am I missing a setting somewhere to enable it?
Error: Player: Audio codec (AC-3) not supported by the player!

You need the AC3 codec (I don't know where from though, try the forums at corecodec). However, if you install Coreplayer (the retail version of TCMP) then this codec is installed automatically.
I don't know if coreplayer has to be activated in order for the codec to work though.
No, it's not. Maybe you are thinking of AAC but AC3 is definitely not in Coreplayer. There was a huge discussion on their forum along the lines that you don't need AC3 because there is no PDA with 5 speakers and it would increase the price for coreplayer unnecessary because of the license fees they would have to pay to Dolby. Anyway, they might release it as an additional plugin later. The current plugin for TCPMP is a grey area legally speaking. Get it as long as you can still download it somewhere ...
Is there another player that can cope with pausing automatically during an incoming phone call/voice command.
I tried tcpmp an it kept playing across calls, which is a bit annoying when you've got the phone set on autoanswer..
Built in media player does work like this, but that's the only thing I can think to say that's positive about it..

Yep I found a link to it after I'd posted, the demo seems to be working pretty well so far. Will see how I get on and buy it if it works properly.
Pocket Player
Well even though it seems quite a bit flakey, Pocket Player. It works with Bluetooth headsets, well at least my Sony Ericson, if you want quality FLAC file playback this seems fine and a very good way to fill a 8GB microdrive ;-)
Playback with a proper stereo headset is good as long as the charger is not attached - which is noisy. As this pda can access usb drives, it could form the basis of a funky hi-fi systems if you use FLAC files and spend some money on a better power supply, oh and get hacking the device to find the direct digital outlet to pump to an external dac. Actually I've not tried connecting it via it's usb output - has anybody else? Not use this would work though.

I have SPB DVD converter and it works great for me. So what exactly is your issue? Like it doesn't covert properly or in play back the audio is choppy.
Once I convert to AVI/DIVX I always play all my movies using the TCPMP player. You can find it here and download it.
I installed this player on my phone. Checked the file association tabs to play the files I need such as (AVI/DIVX) changed the audio output to Mono Join since our phones don't have Stereo and I'm good from there.
If you want extra volume I suggest looking for SRSWOW HD CAB and installing it with the settings of (headphones and 100% effect on every sliding bar)
This will increase the overall volume of your phone not only the player. This truly helped out because before when I watched a movie the sound would be weak and I was forced to hear it with headphones in an environment where there was a lot of people.

FLAC Audio and the Diamond

Servus @ all,
end of the week i have my xda diamond
I have read many Threats about the Diamond in this Great Forum.
My Favorit Audio Codec is FLAC and my simple question it is Possible to Play FLAC Audio Files with my Diamond ?
No Windows Mobile 6 Version of Foobar or VLC exist, only a FLAC Codec for Windows CE.
Regards
Conduits Pocket Player has a FLAC plugin. It's a nice player too, probably worth the money.
CorePlayer plays FLAC too.
Built-in Media Player doesn't. (of course)
I play FLAC with Core player but the sound isn´t so good I think there´s something with decoding..and I tryied different files with same results. When I converted these files to wma the sound was better
i guess both chipset and audio-driver of the diamond aren't worth the wasted space with FLACs. even mp3s sound a lot (!) worse than on my 5 year old ipod mini.
Got no problem with sound quality of mp3s or wma..and don´t think that ipod is better And about FLAC still hope that it´s an issue of codec and not HW

I haven't done a blind test yet but I think FLAC sounds better than mp3 in Pocket Player.
Naturally it should sound better I tryied only Coreplayer n there is some little distorsion will try pocket player
Servus @ all,
THX for the Informations, about FLAC and the diamond.
Soundquality
I think the secret of FLAC is the higher Bitrate MP3 Bitrates are even lower.
This can be the Problem why the Audioquality by Playing FLAC with the Diamond
is not so good.
CPU Power has the diamond but i think it is a codec problem.
When i get my diamond this week i try this self
Best Regards @ all
So now I tryied Pocket player with Flac pocket player plugin 1.24 n it seems that it plays clear Now I only played one file so will testing more, but this one seems good for now
edited: I´m pretty sure that HW in Diamond is capable of flac decoding!!
Hmm. Strange. I always use CorePlayer on my Raphael, and FLAC seems to play fine for me.

Anyone willing to make a cab off this? Looks like a neat player I'd like to try.
Kinoma is much better..
http://kinoma.com/
i wish i could agree with that assessment crazylilboy. ive tried kinoma. and havent gotten to neromobile just yet. but, kinoma SUCKS!! cool interface and that's where the positive end. it hijacks all ur file associations so you cant play anything straight from file explorer as it becomes unrecognized. it scans ALL my folders for media even crap that is in program files and other directories that arent media related as thats what support says it shouldnt be scanning. lastly, and this really isnt all. movie playback is crap compared to coreplayer. it only supports 3 file types, one of which a normal person would use or encode their movies to(mp4). u cant decent quality because u have to keep the bitrate soo low for it not to freeze or chop up. so, ill try this as it cant get much worse and if u need other reasons NOT to use Kinoma, PM me
OH, and thanks for the find on Neromobile

+1 true that
lol!! too hilarious crazlilboy

So, what do you guys say is the best music player anyway, with a good combination interface and features. I really didn't like S2P due to the lack of sorting by ID3 tags and lack of equalizer et all, Touch player(samsung's bundled with omnia) is OK, and Kinoma is speedy and all yeah, but not that big on features. Any other alternatives.
And uhm, cab possible? Or just the installed folder zipped?
A good Music Player for WM... theres a number of them but it all depends on personal preference and there are a couple which do stand above the crowd such as Conduit's Pocket Player and PocketMind PocketMusic.
s2p is obviously the best music player.
as for video.. i'd go with coreplayer.
Already tested neromobile but I still prefer TCPMP for stable and light, or s2p for it´s nice design

Thanx to teixeirabmb for providing this
for me is coreplayer and pocket player
CorePlayer + Opal YouTube + S2P (because it kicks ass) + WMP for playlist = too many media apps, but it's all I need, also MobiTV !
i use mortplayer with iphone skin
i just luv how you can track change using gestures...
i use my phone as car music player so i dont like looking for buttons while driving
I tried Nero Mobile more than a year ago.
I will not try that again....ever, not if there are other choices out there.
Some of you mentioned S2P, I thought S2P is just a shell for WMP. Is it actually a player?
A Cab File Please..
Can anyone here provide a cab file for neromobile please.I'll be much thankful for the help.Please.....

Unable to "scrub" on AAC & HE-AACv2

I know that this topic has been discussed a lot, but I want to explain my problem, which I think is different.
I have encoded a few files with dbPowerAmp & Nero AAC Encoder to the HE-AAC v2 format. Well, with TCPMP I can play them successfully (I have an "original" WM5 Universal).
The problem is that I'm not able to play them with any other software and I need something more "MP3-player-like" than TCPMP. Summarizing:
- WMP of course cannot neither see nor play files;
- Pocket Music with the AAC plugin crashes: I tried the demo version, PM asks for the registration of the AAC plugin and then suddenly crashes all times; the files are visible on the library but with wrong length (duration of the track);
- Conduits Pocket Player sees the files BUT with a wrong length (duration of the track); if I try to play a song, the sound is "cracky" and disturbed (on the contrary TCPMP plays perfectly!) and if you scrub (i.e. jump forward on time on the song) PP freezes.
So none of the software which claim to play AAC files works for me on Universal WM5. Have you got the same problem? Or am I missing something?
The files are encoded at 48kbps HE-AACv2; I also tried with "normal" AAC but the results are the same. Do anyone can explain me what's wrong? Why the incorrect song length?
TIA
Do anyone have the same issue? I don't need a solution, I would only know I'm not the only one with this problem...
Do you play AAC successfully on your mobile (with the correct file duration displayed and being able to "scrub")? With which software?

You need a AAC decoder for WMP. I was using that before and that worked but I can't remember now which decode filter I used or from where I got it.
You may google it...

Thank you for your answer. I really googled a lot, but withouth results.
I could only find:
AAC codec for Windows Media Player for Windows (NOT for Windows Mobile)
AAC decoder for TCPMP
AAC decoder for PocketMusic Player (which, as I said before, crashes)
But nothing for Windows Media Player for Windows Mobile 5. Can anyone help me or at least address me?
This issue is driving me crazy!
