Hi, was wondering if anyone can help me setup blackberry on my o2mini..
I have upgraded to the latest ROM which claims to have blackberry function.
But i have no idea how to make it work to start receiving my pop mails..
can anyone help me ><
i am with vodafone if that helps...
Just pop into a Vodafone store and they will help you set it up...you will have to go on a plan (not prepaid)
u sure they can help me set it up?
i remember going in before enquiring about blackberry for O2mini and they said its not suported officially..?
Would the setting up blackberry procedure the same as other ones?
i'll go in and ask them then
thanks
From memory I think you'll have to go onto the $49 data plan to use blackberry since they now charge $1 per 5 mins of GPRS connectivity.
Nearly makes me want to switch back to Telstra..... nearly
yay~~~
now its working~
basically you need to have BB account with your provider (pay service)
and setup account thru their website.
You will need your device's IMEI/PIN number
and POP3 email address + passwords and thats all!!!

I'm wondering whether this is still working for you ... according to this thread, the folks at Blackberry kick you off after a few days if the BB Connect client does not match the ROM's original network ...
PS. i have read alot of discussions on here about getting it to work properly... just to let you all know, if your PIN number for your blackberry client meant for another network.... blackberry themselves will cut of the traffic to your pin number... although this may take a week or so for it to cut off. The network you are with will not know this has happened hense you will get no help from them. This is a LICENSING issue... tech support advisors will not have this within thier network's published information.

Is it still working for you?
Yes its still working for me - with vodafone.
The only thing its not promised to do as a proper BB device is not been able to receive the emails straight away at occassionally.
Also, if you have the USB plugged in the BB email gets disabled automatically untill u unplug it.
I upgraded to the T-Mobile ROM 1.3.
Didnt do the big storage patch as i got lost in the middle of the tutorial and couldnt be bothered... ;p (BUT still have about 20mb original storage)
Also the post about BB checking mismatches probably only applys when ppl install the O2mini 1.3 ROM --> O2miniPro..
Otherwise i cant think of anything that i did more to make it work continueous.
Voda BB unlimited plan is $49 month i think.

Thanks for the info. In any event, work won't allow me to use my O2 for this - not a secure enough device, according to them.
BTW, I did the bigstorage thing ... very straightforward if you follow the 8 steps at the bottom of this page.
well thats too bad ><~
But about the security issue.. i m sure if the hackers really wants to get in your email they will always figure a way..
If you company uses a work server + sercurity + firewalls + whatever then probably YES it will be insecure compare to BB but then you cant use your email unless you at work... guess that the trade off..
With the Vodafone:
What happen is they give you a <[email protected]> which the settings etc links to your BB device - O2mini.
So whatever emails in the inbox there will be on your device.
To setup you have to 'nominate'/add your various pop3 accounts to make it PULL emails from them to the this <[email protected]>.
Hope this clarify some of the ideas the technology uses for you newbies like myself ;p
Almost there

Wish I could fix up our internal policy issues!
More seriously, does anyone know of any document that I could provide to our IT people that would convince them that the BB Connect software (running on the O2 mini) will not be a risk for the Blackberry Enterprise Server (and related systems)?

The issue is not really with BB Connect. The issue is that with Blackberry devices, the IT department can force a profile onto the Blackberry device and set up policies that cannot be overriden. Eg, they can set a policy that the device will ask for a password after 5 minutes of inactivity. This however cannot be done with a PDA running BB Connect.
Other examples of policies that they cannot enforce:
- Internet usage (web browsing, ssh'ing etc)
- Installation of software (games, etc)
Have you guys had any luck getting this working with Optus.
I have been trying to get it going for about 3 days now and am about to put it into the to hard basket.
Hi all,
I got it all installed and got my email address and 'the activation" password from my IT department. We use Blackberry Enterprise server.
There is no place for me to enter that information in the settings, any idea?
Thanks,
Eric.
anyone can help me...?
when i want to upgrade the ROM, there an error message "Country ID error". then what should i do...?
BLACKBERRY WORKING INOPTUS SETUP
After you install the BB conect from T mobile change the regional settings to dutch (Netherlands) after that start the blackberry aplication and it should log on to blackberry after that go to http://www.blackberry.com/go/email/optus and register the handset you must have a blackeberry data plan
You can set the regional settings back to australia after the first registration seams to work for me .
I am needing a way to access my global contacts without a server side plugin and found this from ms:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/global/default.mspx
I just tried it out and keep getting server unavailable errors. A friend of mine on a different exchange server tried it out as well with the same error. We are both running exchange 2003 spk2 and can sync fine otherwise, in fact using push from the new ROM which is working great. Any thoughts? Anyone else care to try it out? Setup is simple, just user pass domain and server address.
tried the check boxes in setup and they didn't seem to make a difference (forms authentication and isa 2004)
Thanks,
-mix
btw, I tried to update via wifi and grps and received the same error. the FAQ is useless, evidentally they dont expect you to get unavailable errors.....

Thanks for writing this cause I didn't even know it was possible. All I do is go into contacts, click menu, and click find online. Then type in a name and click find and boom! it's there! no need to enter any server settings.
I'm using the new leaked ROM with push e-mail.
Thanks for the tip, I missed that in the new rom. I was hoping to to use global access to schedule a meeting on our shared global calendar, something I can't do with the new ROM, unless someone else can point to a place where I missed it.
If anyone else loads it, let me know.
Thanks,

Ok, so I have a server running in my office with MS Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 SP2. As of now, I do not have any SSL certificates on the server. I feel this "might" be the problem, but i'm too inexperienced with Exchange as of now, and Active Sync for that matter. I want to be able to Sync of the GPRS network while on the road with my exchange server to download new e-mails and sync up my sent e-mails, etc etc etc. The problem is when I try to sync it seems like it will work, then gives me a message saying that the domain url is incorrect or something like that. I played around with it a lot before I found this forum. If you need the specific error message and I screw around with it again, because as of now, I just have it syncing with my local computer. Thanks. Also, if I do need SSL certs, where do I go for that...on the cheap side or even on the free side!
Shoot me a PM with some details. I'm about to walk out the door for a few hours, but I can definitely help you out.
Specifically, make sure you mention what errors are showing up in the Event Viewer.
I'll PM you tomorrow, because Cingular dicked me out and forgot to setup my unlimited data plan so my bill is 390 bucks, til i call and have them change it. But I need them to change it before I start messing with this again. So i'll hit you up sometime tomorrow probably. Thanks.
Ok, first you do not need SSL unless your server requires it. Just make sure the SSL check box on the first settings page (on the device) is unchecked.
Next, go to whom ever is in charge of the server (system administrator or something) and check the exact domain name (required on the second page). The domain and the server address are different urls (at leas for my company). Something I didn't know at first and was unable tho sync.
Hope that helps.

Not really, I am running the server myself. I'll mess around with it more soon, once i get this issue resolved with Cingular, I just thought maybe there was a specific way to get it to work.
I hope you don't resolve this via PM.
Our new Sbs/Exchange server arrives today and I'd like to see how this works out.

if you want...when and if I get it resolved, i'll post how on this forum. I can't believe that no one has set this up before on this forum.
we've been succesful at using 8125 and Exchange since 03-06.
Make sure you have PDA connect
Exchange 2003/SP2 (with or without SSL will work depending on your security requirements)
Active Sync 4.1 or greater.
Works better with 2.25 ROM
Older ROM 1.8 after unsuccesful attempts to sync will reset the server config schedule to Manual

what is PDA connect? I have Exchange 2003 w/ SP2. Where do I check to make sure the security requirements are right? Running Active Sync 4.1 with 2.25 ROM. Thanks
Here is a great place to start:
http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/index.php?showtopic=6106&hl=exchange
It is based on pre-push, but the setup is really no different. You do need SP2 for Exchange 2003 and a WM5 with the MSFP installed to actually get push, but there is no additional configuration to switch from pull to push.
ok, so finally here is the info. Hopefully you can help me.
The error on my phone is: ActiveSync encountered network problems or an internal server error while synchronizing.
Support Code: 0x85010015
My info.
Server address: mail.getztek.com (i tried mail.getztek.com/exchange but it removes the exchange part)
SSL is OFF.
Username: Zack (and I tried getztek\Zack as well)
Password: it is right
Domain: getztek (this is the NETBIOS name)
Let me know if you can help.
Ok Denial, here you go:
0x85010015
ActiveSync encountered network problems or an internal server error while synchronizing. This kind of error is frequently returned when Exchange Server runs out of memory. Typically, this condition is temporary. Try to synchronize again later.

The server is far from being out of memory. There is over 200 MB of free RAM on the server. Just for sh1ts and giggles, i'm going to uninstall the Trend Micro ScanMail so that there is nothing else that could be interfearing with this.
lol, that doesn't help at ALL, thanks for the google is a great thing crap. I really didn't just jump on here asking for help. I googled the crap out of this.
Edit: I dunno why http://mail.getztek.com is showing the RealVNC thing. I never even installed it on that server...
I am sorry I tried to help you. Perhaps you will find the answers you need from someone else. Good luck!

I am not ungreatful you tried to help, far from it in fact. I just don't appreciate the sarcasm by just assuming I never googled this topic. If you don't help, then you don't help.
You need to lose the attitude. You come in here asking for help, don't know a thing about me, and assume I am trying to be a jerk. The first part of the post was help. The second was information on how you can help yourself, which is ALWAYS a better learning experience. Did you indicate you had done ANY research before posting here? No, you did not. You talk in circles around some very vague errors but not until the post I responded to did you offer any real information about what problem you were specifically having.
When you ask for help, try to be a bit more gracious to the people trying to offer it. Even if the answers you get are wrong, at least someone is trying to help.

your right, i'm sorry. Its been a stressful couple of days and trying to get this stupid thing to work is making me want to pull my hair out.
1) You do not need an SSL certificate for this to work, but if you are not using one to secure your server it is only a matter of time before the server no longer belongs to you. Secure your server.
2) Can you connect your device to your computer and sync with the server? Again, NOT syncing with your local outlook but with the Exchange server.
3) Assuming you are using a device wih WiFi, can you sync on your internal network over WiFi to the exchange server?
The first step is getting it to work inside your firewall. Then you can move out to OTA.
I put this in another thread, but it's probably better off in it's own.
Is anyone out there using pushmail on Docomo? I called them to sign up for Mopera U last night, but they told me that they don't allow communications on port 443, which is what Exchange uses. I don't fully believe that they'd cripple pushmail though, so I think that they were wrong. Please let me know if anyone is using it.
Thanks
I'll answer my own question. It is not blocked. As expected, Docomo didn't really know what they were talking about.
Just got my EXEC XDA this weekend, tried setting up my GPRS,MMS settings (using T-mobile USA) all my settings seem right; but I can't get get pocket IE to open, I can however get Opera to open and surf, so I think my settings are correct? I also cannot connect to my email accounts(yahoo, gmail) it tries to connect then says connection lost, but actually the GPRS connection is still active. What do I need to do to fix this? All help welcomed. Thanks
sounds like pie is corrupt (outlook uses it's tcp/ip stack as well)
i'd hard reset.
Damn, I was hoping I could go awhile without having to do that already, I don't have Outlook on my computer so I skipped that portion of active-sync. How would it have corrupted?
well grats on your exec dude, its something you will like
Maybe if it was ebayed someone had 'tried' things with some of the xda files, im not sure how to fix this but not installing the office outlook on your pc shouldnt have caused a problem.
Thanks, It's a new unit, so I hope thats not the problem maybe I should run it in corporate mode?
If it's just a settings issue (and not a corruption problem), there's a cab file that youn can install that has the T-mobile USA GPRS settings. I can email it to you if you PM or IM me with your email addy. It doesn't do the MMS settings, which I can't seem to get working on my device.
well if thats the case, try get in touch with the suppliers of the phone, ask them if theyve had any probs etc, im sure you'l get it fixed
