Battery Icon & Time - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi there,
I've just installed an updated AKU2 ROM, and all is well except the time is no londer on the top, and the battery icon is now in the title bar, not in the tray.
Does anyone know how to revert back to having time at the top title bar, and battery at the bottom (or not at all).
I'm sure I've seen this mentioned on here somewhere, but I can't find it anywhere!
Thanks

Hide/Show battery indicator in Task bar
If you wish to hide the battery indicator in the task bar on some devices, you can set:
HKLM\Services\Power\ShowIcon = 0 (DWORD decimal)
And to show:
HKLM\Services\Power\ShowIcon = 1 (DWORD decimal)
Note that this icon and its feature may not be available on your device at all. For example, the HTC Wizard regularly ships with a battery indicator in the Tray instead, governed by "Windows\Startup\Init_Tray.exe"._
_Note also that this reportedly does not work on AKU2 ROMs to remove the new battery indicator
However, if you get hold of one of the newer ROMs, eg 2.23 or 2.24 then you'll find that MS have come to their senses and have put the clock back.

Thanks, disabling th battery icon will do for me.
What program is best for reg editing?

please note that with AKU2.2+ ROMs, you actually need the following tweak instead ( listed further down that same wiki page):
Restore Clock on Taskbar when on Today Screen
The AKU2 update brought with them a, arguably lame, battery icon which replaced the Clock. Although the clock can be restored when running applications, it is permanently removed when on the Today Screen. Microsoft have addressed users' concern over this in the AKU2.2 update. You can restore the clock entire by setting the following:
Code:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\ShowTitleBarClock = 1 (DWORD decimal)

As for registry editor, I use PHM Regedit - works very well

Ok, in the registry I dont have \Services\Power
As I'm using an AKU2 ROM (QTEK 2.17) I'm guessing this won't work?
any ideas?

Correct it won't work, you need an AKU 2.3 based ROM like the T-Mobile 2.24 found here.
I have a screen shot of the today screen here.
So far, 2.24 is working well for me.

Well, AKU2.2 anyway. AKU2.3 is even newer
AKU2.0 though, you're SOL :|
And pre-AKU2.0, this wasn't even an issue
Still waiting for an official AKU2.2 update from Qtek myself... or AKU2.3.. whichever.

Use this program to show the battery icon back at the tray.

That works, but doesn't remove it from the top bar which is what I'm after?

i installed tweaks2k2.net to fiddle with the registry, did a few changes and soft reset the device. now i manage to screw up the area where the sound, radio, gprs icon and gprs monitor is located. now my sound and radio bar is hidden or block by something.
how do i get back to its original state? unfortunately i did not backup my registry. damned.
anyone?

update!
problem solved. i just need to apply the date setting back to the task bar and everything back to normal using the same tweak.

SORTED - Battery/Clock Problem in IMate ROM Update

I think I have sorted the problem on the new Imate Rom update showing the battery instead of the clock in the top bar.
I removed the file "Windows\Startup\Init_Tray.exe".
Now the Battery still shows on the Today Screen - But the clock shows on all other screens.
As the clock is shown elsewhere in the Today Screen thats works for me.
I just have to wait and see if removing the Init_Tray.exe creates any problems - if anyone knows, please let me know.
As an alternative, the clock is shown with other things if you use WisBar from here http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products.php?prod=WisBar+Advance
You can do the same thing by applying a reg hack or using Tweaks2k. You don't have to remove the init_tray.exe.
heh.. most of the people would consider the Battery vs Time issue to -be- the fact that it disappears on the Today screen. You can still configure the date/time to be displayed in other applications by simply going through the date/time configuration settings last I checked on the status of this.
Go to Control Panel/System/Clock and Alarms
Click on 'More' Tab. Select 'Display the clock on the title bar in all programs'. Click okay
It does the the same thing as what pewe mentioned, but without the hassle. LOL!! I can not believe you didn't spot that!?

Clock Disappearing On Today Screen
The problem with the built in 'show clock in status bar in all programs' is that it woeks for everything except the Today screen. You can add it back in as part of the day date plug in for the today screen, but that takes up space. I preferred the old version where the battery was in the system tray at the bottom, the clock showed at the top and you could add the clock to all other programs. Why do we have to go backwards with these ROM updates? :x
Erm... I belive the problem is to get RID of the battery on the taskbar, and add the clock there for the today screen like it used to be in the older roms... Sadly I've moved back to using an old dopod rom because of this little issue, and i'm not upgrading again till this is fixed
I have install the new ROM and find out that the Battery icon will show on the top right corner, and the time (clock) will show on the same level as the date
I did not find this anoying ??
I will think it's nice to have the Battery icon on the TOP
I'm I missing something ? Is there other catch ?
let me know
thanks
Update : I guess I get it, having the Time not in the top bar, will then bother when you move to other screen then the Home screen. You will then miss the time
hum hum, I have to think and see in a long term if that bother me after all.

I have 2 Wizards and found that the 'Clock on every page' worked on one but not the other, whereas removing the Init_tray.exe worked on both.
Put the file back on both this morning, and now they both work. Weird!!!
what if............
8) 8) What if someone uploads an older init_tray.exe from an original rom and we try that inplace of the current one?? 8) 8)
Can someone upload please and let us know the location?
csian, replacing the init_tray with an older version would likely only give the battery icon in the tray, if that is desired. personally i don't want ANY battery indicator (already use the battery indicator from Pocket Plus) but with the Imate rom, i still get the top bar battery indicator (ugh)... tried all the reg hacks, even with new values just to see how it responds, but didn't find one that removed the battery from the top bar... (sigh)
Just FYI.
So sorry

8) 8) Just thought it was worth a shot because the battery indicator in the tray was really only a link to power settings and not really an indicator. Getting rid of the current battery icon and putting the clock back in the top right corner is what I really want. 8) 8)
I noticed something while resetting my 9100. The clock doesn't disappear from the top bar. It is only covered by the battery meter it seems. It was on my screen for a minute before the battery meter showed up. THis makes me think that some program has been added that may also be able to be deleted.
How about it..............
8) 8) Anyone got an original init_tray.exe they can upload. (Someone with clock still in upper right hand corner of Today Screen) PLEASE. 8) 8)

Here it's and I hope it will help you to get the time back in old style!!!
This file is from T Mobile NL version!
init_tray.exe from Tmobile US MDA original ship rom
here's the init_tray from my Tmobile MDA US (prior to updating to latest kjam).
hopefully someone has some success getting that battery meter off! might scan my older registry from the Tmobile rom to see if perhaps its an entry that was added by tmobile's customizations perhaps?
peace
Edit/Note: just copied init_tray.exe from the US ship rom and all it did was add the battery meter into the tray area and the battery on top stayed.. but that migth be because init_tray.exe is in the rom and still runs... also, even by just disabling init_tray.exe from starting up (i moved the init_tray.lnk from teh startup folder and soft reset but still had the battery meter but didn't have the tray icons showing my wifi connection..) so init_tray might not be the one.. but i could be wrong too.. hehe.. still a new w/wm5 and my mda..
Thanks guy's
8) 8) Ya I tried the older init_tray files and it didn't work for me either. It must be in the registry or a dll somewhere boy I wish we could figure this out. If anyone has a registry dump for a wizard with the clock still at the top I would like to compare to my current registry and see if I can find the culprit. 8) 8)
'd get you one, but I still haven't gotten around to getting a nice clean hard reset.. so mine's littered with crap from botched installs and unclean uninstalls. If anybody else wants to try it - TRE (Tascal Registry Edit) will export the registry to a file.

Who to temove teh battery icon

I try to remome the batery icon in the today sceen
this
I and put the time or the date, is this possible?
Thks
You can easily display the time as well in the settings. No hack needed.

I think the reg key only works on AKU 2.2 and up.
Any way, try my plug-in:

Hi you could try this CAB file from the Orange Extended Rom, Orange install it to remove the Battery Icon. I don't know if it only works on initial setup, or if it can be run by itself, try it and see.
I removed the CAB as people were saying that it was not working, and I did not want to run the risk of it screwing up someone elses phone.
Not working on my S200
Any other ideas ?
The cab did not work on my XDA Neo (JAMin ROM).
What the hell is the cab for?

I said that I did not know if would work, it's a CAB installed in the Orange Extended Rom to remove the HTC Battery Icon. It's part of the Orange customisation when the phone is first installed, Orange remove a few icons and shortcuts such as HTC Battery and MSN Link.
I thought that it may possibly work as we all have the same phone. Guess it only works as part of the customisation package, or only on initial setup.
This will remove the battery icon in all other screens, exept for the today screen.
It works on the dopod ROM.

I have installed it as part of the extended ROM customization. I have build my own Extended ROM from combining the Orange and the DOPOD ones.

Newbie Question - How to get Today clock showing AM/PM ?

Owned a Cingular 8525 for just about a month now. So glad I found this forum, its full of wonderful information from a superb community.
I've just upgraded to XDA Live 0.2 and I have a question, although I don't think this question is specific to that version of WM.
The clock on the Today screen shows the time on the top line - but it doesn't show the AM/PM indicator. I believe this was the same under the Cingular theme under WM5 that came with the phone. If my memory servers me correctly, I soon found a way to modify that on WM5 and had the clock showing the AM/PM indicator.
Problem is I made that change in my first week of ownership, and now that I've just upgraded to XDA Live 0.2, I've completely forgotten how I did.
There doesn't seem to be any way to modify the display format in the Settings->Today applet. Maybe it was a registry change I made???
Anyhow, if anyone knows a quick way to make this setting, even if it means installing a separate clock app which replaces the default, I would love to know.
BTW I did make a search on the Hermes forum before submitting this post, but I couldn't find anything relevant.
I am not sure, but this may be connected with the regionnal settings. Try to play with those option which are located in settings
I've got Wisbar Advance 2 on my 8525 and by setting the time format to 'h:mm tt' it displays the AM/PM. Maybe there's a reg hack that can do the same with the standard toolbar clock?
Try:
Settings/System/Regional settings/Time/Time Style
and then choose the H:mm:ss option on the drop down menu.
Hope this works for you
The answer to this question already exists in previous posts.
The answer to this question already exists in the wiki.
If the above post by marissa does not work (remember you can scroll up as well as down in this option) then change the registry:
Go to:
HKLM\nls\overrides
and tap on key STFmt
Some valid entries for this key include
h:mm t ........(12hr, A/P)
h:mm tt .......(12hr with AM/PM)
H:mm:ss ......(24hr)
h:mm:ss tt ...(12hr, seconds, AM/PM)
hh:mm:ss tt .(12hr, seconds AM/PM, leading 0)
Once you have done this and saved it, LONG press the on off button and wait for the warning pop up saying device will shut down and unsaved data will be lost. Tap yes and then long press on/off button to restart. Do not use soft reset or else you may find the changes you just made will be lost and you'll have to repeat the process.
You may find phone is in flight mode on restart but just turn it off.

Re: How to get Today clock showing AM/PM ?
Thanks Marisa & Mike. I forgot to mention that I had taken a look at the Regional Settings applet too, and already set that up to show the h:mm:ss tt format.
Still didn't work on displaying the clock. So I then used Mike's tip about the registry. On looking at that key I saw it was already set to h:mm:ss tt. I modified it anyway, saved, and did long shutdown, long startup.
On reboot, I don't see the clock displayed with the AM/PM indicator. Oh well, thanks anyway. I'll go and post this over in the XDA Live 0.2 thread - maybe it is something to do with this ROM after all.
Thanks again.
Sorry, thought it was just the am/pm that you were trying to show. Getting the clock to show in the first place is different. Will post later, unless someone beats me to it!
At work at present.
Mike
Try some of these:
Change the display of the clock in the taskbar
The clock in the taskbar can be changed to show not only the time, but also the date, or just the date, or nothing at all.
To show nothing:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 0 (DWORD decimal)To show just the clock:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 1 (DWORD decimal)To show just the date:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 2 (DWORD decimal)To show both the date and the clock:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 3 (DWORD decimal)Note 1: If you switch to the Analog clock display, the date will remain visible -through- the Analog clock
Note 2: Setting the clock to show 'nothing' will still keep the reserved space, showing the taskbar background, and obscure any icons that will shift to the right.
Note 3: Your date may get obscured by the space reserved for the OK/Close button in the top-right. You can fix this my adding spaces at the end of your 'Short Date Format'. See also the tweak on 'Change the Short Date Format'
The wiki has lots of this type of setting see here:

Battery icon in tray

I found a reg tweak to get a simple battery icon in my tray. Worked just fine. I did a hard reset and can't find the tweak now. I've searched for the past 30 minutes and found a bunch of crap related to 3rd party apps and the time and date in the tray. I found:
HKLM\Services\Power\ShowIcon
and set that to 1 and did a soft reset and it didn't work. So, how the hell do I get the icon to show up? Right now, I have 2 icons for connection (E for EDGE and signal strength), volume, and the time, and I want all those, plus the battery icon. Thanks
I think you're confusing the tray (on the BOTTOM of the Today screen) with the Task Bar.
Edit: Changed "Title Bar" to "Task Bar" to be consistent with what the OS calls it.
Yeah, title bar's what I meant. Still can't get that damn icon to show
Hi,
I can't help you, but I'm interested in the tweak you made first. Could you tell me how you got your battery icon to the title bar?
Thanks.

Use the WM VI Batti program. One of it's functions gives you a simple battery icon in the title bar. You can view the thread HERE.
Or to make your life a little easier, you can download the .cab file HERE.

Ok, so how do you remove the battery icon from the task bar? Somehow something I installed or changed put it there but I have no idea how to undo it since it's never shown up or done that before.

Haven't figured that one out yet. I never liked the system tray on the bottom, so I removed it altogether with a simple reg tweak. Navigate to...
HKLM\init\
There you will find several keys, but the one you want is Launch92. This contains the location of where Windows will look for the tray app. I just modified the registry from "TrayAp.Exe" to "oldTrayAp.exe" Prevents the app from starting up altogether. You can then use BatteryStatus to create its own system tray and from there, you can add all your own icons (including a battery icon). I believe the battery program is powerexe.exe in the Windows directory.
battery icon
Try this:
Find the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell
Search for the key ShowTitleBarClock and change the value to 0.
If the ShowTitleBarClock does not exist, create a new DWORD and put value (in decimal) as 0.
Hope it works for you as it did for me.

Dang, it's busted for me.
I get a DirectoryNotFoundException when I launch it and I can't seem to find the reason for it.
Worked nicely for me, thanks!
It also works nicely for me. However, I am looking for a way to disable the System Tray and so far, nothing. Have tried most of the reg hacks mentioned here and run into a brick wall as my Dell Axim x51v doesn´t have those reg entries (?!?!?!)
All I want to do is remove the WiFi & BT icons so that the system tray will close. Any ideas folks?
That is because your device uses different drivers for it. However it should not be too hard to find the correct registry entries for your device. Try playing with entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\ dir.
Thanks Wexx. Even with the extended ROM visible I only get as far as "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\" before I lose my way. What really *isses me off is that I HAD managed it a while back but cant for the life of me remember how!!!!
Anyway, thanks!
