Battery problem? -dropping while suspended - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hey guys
I just discovered that even though I suspend my Qtek9000, the battery drops around 1-2% every hour. For example last night I went to sleep with 80% and woke up after around 8 hours, the battery was at ~70% without having BT or WiFi on. I know that the PDA doesn't actually shut off, but is this kind of drop normal or should I worry?
Thnx in advance

Yeah mine does the same thing pretty much :? I think it's the phone module that causes the drain. You could try to put it into flight mode one night and see if you have the same drain.

Say i put my phone in flight mode at 2300 - at around 0730 the next day - i have probably lost 1-2%. If flight mode off (and bt/wifi off) with no usage - i would probably loose 1-2% per hour.

This overnight battery drainage problem is killing me

I was an idiot to trust this phone to wake me up.
I set Galarm yesterday night to wake me up today at 7:05AM. The battery read 27% (at 11:00PM, when I went to sleep). Using Galarm I set the phone to "Flight Mode".
The phone's battery run out during night and so I woke up late and was late to work.
I simply can't trust this phone to wake me up. One night the overnight drainge is only 3%, but the next night it's over 27%.
I don't understand what on earth could drain the battery so much if the phone is in standby and in flight mode...
Why not just plug it in overnight?
The battery indicator is essentially guesswork - you can't be exact other than when it's full or when it's empty. If it said my battery was at 27% I wouldn't trust it to last 8 hours, even in flight mode.
Last night at 11pm my battery was on 51%. I set my alarm to 7am using the HTC Sense alarm. It woke me up having only drained 4% over night. I didnt do anything special...it just worked.

When the phone is with me during day, if I don't use it, it hardly drops 1%.
I had the Kaiser and Diamond and Touch HD, and could always trust the battery indicator (that if it read 27%, it would easily last the night).

Yes, sometimes the overnight drainage is only 3-4% for me too. But then at other nights it goes crazy...
The bottom line is that it can't be trusted.
I will try to use BatLog overnight to figure out what causes the drainage.
I usually go to bed about 11pm and alarm I set at 6 am ; everymorning I noted the battery only drains about 5 % - I consider this as very good. If your battery drains a lot , you just have to check which programs are auto accessing internet to update - eg Weather, programs like Spb Traveller, RSS programs, Tweeter ( MoTweets, Twikini etc ) etc : disable all these unless you really need it

But the phone was at "Flightmode".... nothing could access the internet.
Hi all,
In my case the battery over night from 11PM till 8AM goes down with 3%. I monitorized for 4 night till now and the results are the same.
In my opinion is preatty ok this drain and is in normal parameters.
It might be that if goes more then 7% then somethings wrong and perhaps there are some app's running in background or the phone trying to access GPRS or something like that.
Regards,
Seba
I have the same problem. BUT only if battery is below 50% it drains to 0% over 7 hours! if it is >50% it drains only 3-5% over night. I have perfect network connectivity, set to GSM only, softreset before sleep, my location off, no internet connection. Nothing helped! Is the battery f**ked up or what is wrong with it?
Unlike the HD I have owned, my HD2 battery seems to drain very fast as well, Its like every hour it goes down 2%, from my experience, some brand SD card will also drain the power sharply. The microsd card I have used for my HD is a Sandisk class 2 16GB, and for the HD2, is an A-data class 6 16GB, so I am curious which micro sd card are you guys using? Lets see if this is the one of reasons..
Having used the phone for the last 10 days , i found that the internet acces and the vibration mode with ring is the mail culprit. having turned the internrt acces option to off , i was able to use the phone for more than 24 hrs without charge. also the bluetooth and the wifi options drain the battery extremely fast.
I installed the BSB 1.6 teak and have set both the "Power save" and "WiFi power save" to ON, and it looks like it has made a difference. I was charging the phone everyday until the BSB Tweak, now I'm day 2 and still have 28% battery.

Every hour 2%. This means only after 50 hours (more than 2 days) your phone is empty. I wish mine was.
well, If I leave my phone totally unused, no incoming phone calls, message, emails either.I believe it won't be booted after 50hours.
I have just fully charged it, and close my location service and weather auto-update, hope it will help to save the battery.
Good night,we'll see tomorrow.

i find that installing the 1% battery indicator as a tweak drained my battery 40% overnight. hope this helps
..
Over night(about 7hours),my hd2 battery drained to 64% from 99%,no background programme.
I do have the 1% battery indicator installed, but I don't think it makes difference, however, I will give it a try remove it, test again.
I have uninstalled the 1% battery indicator, and disactive flght mode, either works.
Since I had such problem before http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606093, while charging the battery on AC power, the LED light is flashing(normally it should be a solid amber light),
I had drained my battery totally even the backup battery, then recharged it via usb on my pc.It charged very slowly to full, however it drains super fast.
I guess theres something worry with my battery, just waiting for the battery that I have ordered before Christmas.I hope it will be solved by replacing the battery.
Can you please post here if a battery replacemant solved the problem or not? Thanks in advance!

SGS 9000 battery only holds 5 hours of change in standby

Hi there,
I have had my SGS since Sept 2010, and have had no problems. A few days ago, the battery standby time dropped from a few days to 5 hours (and this was in flight mode). With the 2G phone on, and 3g/wireless/gps off, the standby was about 3 hours.
I removed the battery, and the put it back in, and let the 'phone charge whilst turned off.
Is there a way to mend this? Where does the problem lie?
Cheers, Peter.

might be due to a new software you just installed or upgraded.
Install some free tool to do the monitoring and confirm which application partially awake or prevent your phone to go to sleep mode.
Try System info
Exactly the same problem with me, I'm pretty sore the cause is update or app.
This is not the case. no new programmes were installed.
I noticed that when the phone is ON and charging the indicator states it is e.g 30% charged. I remove the battery charger, and the indicator states that the phone is empty and has to shut down.
Huge Battery drain post on this very forum worth reading .
But i would hazard a guess with a sudden drop its a dying battery .
jje
I had the same problem with u, i think u should back up your phone's data then use "Factory data reset" feature. I did that and everything's OK
SOLVED
Indeed, I did a factory reset and the problem went away. Battery life returned to normal.
Thank-you for your advice.

0% drain in night

I'm quite staggered to state that my S3 haven't used a single % of battery overnight, I left my phone at 66% and in morning my jaw just dropped by looking at battery meter it was at 66% i thought it was stuck or hanged so i restarted my phone pulled the battery out and waited for 5 mins and turned it on again and voila it was at 65%(1% lost due to booting)
also my S3 is Made In Vietnam
Isn't this a good thing? Phones don't really use a lot of power when on idle like this. As long as u have a good signal and the radios not trying to pick a signal the battery doesn't drain much. I've left my g2 overnight several times and it hasn't gone down either
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA
Yes its a good thing however my last droid eats 15-20 % battery in night which is bad.
Auto-sync on? 3G/wifi/airplane mode? Wouldn't mind having tiny idle drain myself
Phone is set on 2G network(not on Airplane mode) with wifi and auto sync OFF
I also noticed my SGS3 drains very little at night. However, when idling at daytime it does drain more battery (using System Panel to monitor battery levels).
Perhaps there is some power saving feature that put the phone in a deeper sleep-mode at night? Automatically disabling auto-sync etc?
Closed, we have a thread right here for initial reviews/discussion.
Thank you.

Battery Problem With Standby Time (Help)

I have Problem With Standby Time .....My Battery After 12 Hours Standby Have 50% Drop.....I install Stock Rom But Itsnt Fix...Please Help Me:crying:
( I do wipe cash and wipe battey and calibrate)

how long your battery used? if >2-year heavy use, could well be battery degrade. no solution except for buying a new one. (symptom: battery charge sudden drop, like 50% -> 20%).

For me battery drops can sometimes happen when I don't charge battery to 100% - so it's good idea to always charge to full.
First of all you should check if your battery is going into deep sleep mode. You can do that by installing Bettery Battery Stats, and leaving your phone idle with the screen off for some time. You should read the forum post to understand how it works. If after leaving your phone on "stand-by" you realize that it's not going into Deep Sleep mode, then you should find out what is keeping your phone awake.
I used to have the same situation as you, and it turned out that I had set the WiFi Sleep Policy in Viber to override the Roms setting, and consequently leaving my WiFi always on (which prevents your phone from sleeping). After fixing the issue in Viber my phone now turns WiFi off after 15 minutes of leaving my phone idle.
Now unless your battery is actually dying on you, I'm sure you can get a better battery life. I am using Tasker to program my phone to turn WiFi off when I turn off my screen, and then turn it on for 1 minute every 15 minutes during the day, and at nights it does the same thing but with an interval of 1 hour and half. There are apps in the Play Store that do this too, I've tried these both, and they work as they should, and they can even control your Data connection
Green power
Deep Sleep Battery Saver
All in all I've been losing an average of 1.7% during the day, and 0.7% and 1.2% per night. My battery currently lasts about 2 days on one charge. This is all assuming it is actually your WiFi that's preventing your phone from sleeping, I just figured I'd share my experience in case it is in fact that; the important thing being that you could probably get the same results as I have (or even better, considering your battery isn't busted) if your phone is actually going into Deep Sleep.

Huge battery drain: Awake screen off

Hi
Brand new phone here, not rooted and fully stock.
During last three days I noticed a huge battery drain overnight, so I installed Better Battery Stats. Being not rooted I don't see many info but one thing is clear: after 6h being idle, I have lost 17% and BBS shows one single line as per attached screenshot.
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks
try turning off wifi and anything that syncs constantly. go into settings, battery and see what it shows. no need for an extra app.
????
I don't want to turn off wifi at night.
With my edge+ all was remaining on and I would use only 4% overnight
I have the same problem. Go to sleep at night and wake up 7 hours later with 40% drain during the night. I don't use wifi.

I've had this phone for a week, and the first 3 days all was ok, but during the last 3 nights I am experiencing this huge drain overnight.
Problem is I am not rooted (and am not willing to root right now, till Android N comes) so I cannot really use wakelock detectors to see what's going on.
Phone is set up exactly like my Samsung S6 Edge+ and this one drain max 5% overnight.
Again go into settings and battery and see what is being used
Ok tonight I'll check
Here it is.
Unplugged and left 6h idle overnight with wifi on.
Lost 12℅
I cannot understand what's going on

Please note this happens only at night while phone is idle.
During day battery seems OK and wifi or idle do not show up in battery usage.
Also from the screenshot I see only 1% and a very low mA usage, so I don't understand why I lose so much battery when nothing is going on.
Is this really a problem? Your phone is losing between 2% and 3.3% per hour. That doesn't seem that bad. Mine is around 6% during the day (I have it plugged in during the night).
2% per hour in doze at night is a huge problem

Yeah, that kind of drain is an issue. I lose like 1% every 6 or 7 hours overnight with phone in doze with 2 maint. cycles
