Do your numbers have a country code in front of them? I found that while trying to send a text message yesturday (me being in the UK and our country code being 44) the number I was sending to was 447....etc.. and it would fail. I changed the 44 to a 0 and it worked just fine !
I am here in the USA so I do not have to put country codes. I think that I have everything setup right. It is very frustrating.

That's what happens to me when I don't pay my phone bill, so pretty much every month
Hi,
I've experienced the same problem before with my provider. These are the things that they asked me to do;
Step by step.
1) Put the SIM card into another phone and see whether that phone can send or receive SMS. If OK then step 2. If not, contact your provider and ask for SIM replacement.
2) Turn Off your WIZARD by pressing the power button for more than 5 seconds until a dialog-window appears asking whether you want to switch OFF the Wizard or not. Press "YES" and your Wizard will be OFF and let it be for a minute. Goto Step3
3) Remember to insert the SIM card into your WIzard and then Switch it ON. Try send sms to your own number. If OK then try to your friend's number. If OK then you're done. Problem solved. If cannot send to yourself and other number, goto Step 4.
4) Check your SMS centre number, make sure the number start with "+".
How to get the numbers? Contact yout service provider and ask them about the SMS centre number. goto step5
5) re-enter the sms centre number and try send sms. If OK then problem solved and if not OK, goto step 6.
6) Call your service provider and ask them to reset your service config and activate it again. Turn OFF your Wizard after 15 minutes from the reset and let it be for 1 minute and turn it back ON again. Try send sms, if OK then problem solved. This is the last step taken by me to revive my sms problem and it works.
Give it a try and good luck

Hi!
I just got my xda2 yesterday and I'm having problems sending and recieving MMS messeges. Whenever I try to send them they never go though and it tries 3 times before aborting. Also I don't recieve MMS messeges properly either. If I try to send a MMS messege to my xda2 from another phone then I get a SMS messege from o2 saying to goto their website to view the picture.
I've tried playing around with the options in the Media Messeging program such as changing the Connect Via: option but without any success.
Any help would be much appricated
Contact O2 customer services & ask them to enable MMS support on your SIM card. That is the reason why you are not recieving the actual message & only getting the SMS alert as your SIM isn't on the N.A.P.
Spot on, that's what I had to do when I got my XDAII. It took about 10 mins for mine to be enabled.
If that doesn't work, then get them to replace the device...when I first got mine they tried to give me a reconditioned one in a "mixup"...in the end I kept it til I demanded they give me a new one....they did!
Cheers
Anthony
I upgraded to the new rom and when I insert a T-mobile sim instead of O2 I got a txt from unknown sender. Everytime I do a soft reset it appears.
Do anybody got this problem
Hi Mate.
Everytime you do a soft reset you get the same message ? What does the message say ?
Rgds,
Rob.
Hi Rob,
I got txt from unknown no. and the message is 1530771and so on. Just number. It only happen if I insert different sim card.
Thanks
I got the same thing after the update, actually got 5 of them, all from unknown senders and only containing a number.
I have seoft reset since then and got no other strange messages.
I'm using a t-mobile sim.
Probably some network update stuff being downloaded to the sim.
TMobile users in the US have found that thier XDA sends an SMS to Tmobile every time the phone is reset. Since some subscribers don't have any free SMS allowance, this means that it costs 5 cents every time the XDA is reset. Maybe what you're seeing is some sort of TMobile response that can't be interpreted by your non-TMobile firmware, so it gets displayed as a message.
Still happening to me everytime I got no signal or I soft reset I received the txt that contains numbers. I downgraded it back to 1.03 and it works ok. I use t-mobile sim as well.
Hi,
I am using the O2 xda mini in India.
THe problem I am facing is I came to nepal for my vacation, and with the network service providers here, I cannot make or receive calls. The phone registers properly with the network. I can receive and send SMSs. THe only problem is with the calls.
I tried hard resetting the phone. I played with the call forwarding/waiting settings for a while and it started working BUT i wanted to copy number from the old sim, i inserted the old sim.. copied the numbers and inserted back the new sim again. And it has stopped working again. I tried hard resetting, playing with the settings. Can someone enlighten me on this.
PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS.. CANT MAKE OR RECEIVE CALLS while I CAN SEND / RECEIVE SMS.
Thanx,
amit

Did you try inputting the international dialing code before the number?
If you are going to be in India for a while it might be best if you purchased a SIM chip there to go into your phone.
Also, your phone IS unlocked, right?
Hi there
I've had my Wizard for a couple of years now. The other day the SIM card decided it didn't want to work any longer, so I had to replace it. Since then, with the new SIM card I haven't been able to send nor receive SMS. I've flashed the ROM and have put a more up-to-date one, but that hasn't worked.
All I get is the message: "Phone - The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again." No matter how long I wait, it never wants to send or receive SMS. I know it's not the SIM card as I've plugged it into different phones and I receive SMS without any problems.
Bizarre - but can someone please help?
Thanks
Dan
i'm really new to this but i'll try to help out. do you have cingular? and are you able to send and recieve text? if yeah to both of these q's, i think i'll be able to help out. if now sorry and good luck.
unfortunately the answer is "no" to both.
I'm on Orange (UK) and at present can neither send nor receive SMS messages. I know the problem is with the phone as I can both send and receive when I put my SIM card into another phone.
It must be something bizarre, as it just stopped from one day to the next. I thought a new ROM would work, but it's still the same!
Driving me crazy!!!!
Help
Hi everyone , i have a problem with my ipaq 614c i'm using wm 6.1 here is my problem : when i want to send out a sms it takes around 10 mins and then it displays "Your text message cannot be sent.", but the weird situation is that if i make calls in this period not just 1 call if i talk for 10 mins or if i call and hang up and so on for 10 minutes the sms is sent.I'm using Vodafone RO and the sms service center is set ok.Please Help!!
Same problem here.
MMS sending and SMS-receiving works fine, just as all other services do (email, internet, etc.).
Only sending SMS does not work. Messages remain in the outbox for about 10 minutes and the error message appears.
Have you tried my solution ? making calls in those 10 minutes ?
i need to make like 3 of them to successfully send a sms. Ps. And i believe that all sms that i recive are delayed 20 30 minutes.
I had that problem too, the same with Vodafone RO. Try the sim card in a different phone and if it is working try a factory reset.
My topic is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417783
I believe this problem is caused by having an old SIM card. My Vodafone UK SIM worked fine in my ipaq 6915 (WM5) and in many other phones, but when I got my 614c, it seemed that this model was unable to read the SMSC (short message service delivery centre) number out of the SIM, so SMS messages could not be sent. I found that my SFR (Vodafone France) SIM card worked fine which made me think it must be the Vodafone UK SIM.
When I got a new SIM from Vodafone UK, the problem disappeared.
You can verify whether this is indeed your problem by going to Settings > Phone > Services > Voice Mail and Text Messages > Get Settings. If "Text messages service center" is set to null, or another value that is not correct for your network, you have the same problem as I did. (You will probably find you are unable to set this field manually - it is read from the SIM.)
So i said that if i make calls i can send the sms ..i tried to get the settings i got them and worked but same problems with sending i also tried the factory reset several times nothing as well tnx for suggestions if you have more i will be pleased to try them all.
