My imate jam had Kingston 128mb mmc card and it was running fine for about 1 month. yesterday i got a new kingston 512 mb SD card to use it with my jam.
I put my 128mb mmc card in a card reader and copied all the data to my computer. Now i removed the card and inserted the new 512mb sd card in card reader. I formatted the new card and copied the data ( of 128mb mmc card) from my computer to the sd card.
I put the 512mb sd card in my jam but it didnt recognize it. THen i put my old 128mb mmc card and jam didnt recognize it too. Its been a day and jam has not been recognizing these cards. i have tried formatting these two cards using Fat and FAT32. but still no success.
Here is the reading from my jam.
Settings-> About says that expansion slot is not in use

Raio Version: 1.12.10

ExtRom version: 1.12.128.WWE
what happened ? can anyone help ?thanks in anticipation
Maybe something like the memory card slot's contacts have some trouble probably happened while trying to remove and insert cards often or the other. Rule this out by switch off(sleep mode) your device and insert the card. If the device tries to find a card is inserted by the electronic contacts, it lights up the screen or turns it on.
Does it happen?

i found the solution
Yesterdat night, i inserted my 512 mb kingston card into my digital camera and formatted the card. Then i put the card in my imate jam and instantly it recognized it.
I think the problem is in my card reader ( or maybe in the usb cable which connects to card reader to the computer)

Hi , all something strange happened to my XDA II SD Memory card!!! , i was installing an application on the SD Card and i went to the SD Card to explore it searching for something while the XDA while installing but i couldn't see all my old files , when i check the memory status i can see that i am using 70MB if the 256MB but i can't locate the files.
can any one help.
I had the same problem with a Sandisk 256mb card.
I've found that it works fine with a Lexar 128mb card though.
So it looks like the XDA2 has problems with SD cards as well as a completely duff bluetooth implementation.

Man thats bad news, have you tried doing a soft reset.
Also if you have a PC card SD reader try running Scandisk on the
card.
BTW as you can see it not a good idea to access your SD card while
programs/files are being installed / written to it.
HTH
Sandisk
ok interesting , i am also using Sandisk 256MB!!!
i tried soft reset and it didn't help.i will try to find a PC reader and see if i can get anything out of it or i might try to use it on my brother XDA 1 because most of the files were used on my old XDA with PPC2002 rom.
Hurray, its not just me then. I have a 128mb dane elec card and 70meg has disapeared. Im not sure if anything was on teh card previously and I dont have a card reader to check. Its most annoying!
Storage Card slot kaput
I bought a brand new generic 2GB SD card and had it working for a day. It just wasn't working anymore one morning I have left my XDA II overnight on the cradle. Now it wont accept any MMC or SD card I put on it. Any idea what could have gone wrong?
When it was still working I tried copying media files on it (in Microsoft knowledgebase they confirmed in order for media files to work in storage cards you have to create My Documents folder did this on the several cards I tested but to no avail)
The storage card I bought was 2 GB, O2 site says XDA II has been tested on 1GB storage cards--could I have burnt my SD card slot?
Maybe the card brand was too generic-- but then I tried other branded SD and MMC cards after the day my slot stopped recognizing and it still didn't recognize Sandisk (512) and Leica cards (64MB)
The SD card in question is still detected if you put it in a card reader then connect it to a PC
Help badly needed, I'm losing so much productivity with very small storage/ROM space

Well, I'm using Kingston 2GB SD card and it works perfect... and it's a high speed card.
You may have your SD slot broken. My slot for example from time to time gets the card disconnected (let's say, every few hours), and I have to pull it off and put back in.
in a sdcard reader undelete tools from pc can recover files from sd cards as they can with harddisk
like undelte plus
my xda2 won't detect my sd 256mb storage card. It did for a while but now seems to have stopped. It will still detect my 128mb storage card. Why won't it work? It recognises that the expnasion slot is in use so how come the storage card can't be seen. There is no file to view in file explorer and again when synched it doesn't appear on the screen of my pc. But if I swop and put the 128mb card in that card appears. Weird?
No it is not weird! I think your 256 MB SD card is fried. To unsure it is not try accessing it on PC with a card reader.
Have had the same problem twice with a 256 MB SD card from sandisk.
Mark
Thanks, but what does 'fried' mean. It worked for a while. Are you suggesting it's overheated?
fried mean that it's dead, not going to work ever again,
broken .......
sometimes eletronics just die for no reason
to be sure you can try it in a sdcard reader for pc
or you can try storage tools or pocket mechanics
and see if you can format the card using them
or if some of their options can detect the card
Sorry but I don't have or know anyone with a card reader for these small cards. I'll just have to buy another card.
I just bought a 2gb sandisk sd card
it is recognised by the magician but each time it switchs to stand by mode the "memory card" file disappears...So I have to take it out and to insert it again (two times) in order to see it again.
Is it normal ? or there's a problem with this card ?
thanks

Good to read, Storage to the people!
Take a look @ the card params too. Somehow a magician communicates better with a fat(16) card than fat32.
Have fun, M
thanks for your comment...
I can only format the sd card with the magician because i don't have a sd card reader for my PC. But with the program I use (FORMAT) I cannot choose FAT 16 or 32 - do you know a soft to do this ?
PHM Pocket Mechanic is very good for this, available on trial
I just received my Sandisk Ultra II 2GB card and it's working fine with my S100 (1.12) and I didn't have to format it when I received it.
However I have just come upon a problem. The card works fine in my S100 and I can copy files to it via ActiveSync. In order to speed things up I just tried putting it in the card reader in my laptop which reported it as unformatted...
Got the Sandisk Ultra 2 2GB for my M500 and it works fine in the phone , my card reader however does not like it either.
However i have sd-cf adapter that i use with my camera , i sloted the sd card in to that and in to the card reader and it works fine at very high speed.
Hope that helps.
C.
Laptop doesn't have CF and I'm reluctant to allow it to format the card in case I suddenly have issues reading it in my S100. :/
hi, i ran a benchmark in my 512mb SD card (unknown brand - missing logo) with pocket mechanic and the results are: Read 5.1X and Write 0.6X. Is it bad?
ok my card reader on my laptop and my S100 must talk a different dialect of SD card because no matter what I do they can't work together.
If I format the card in my S100 and copy files via activesync the laptop reports the card as unformatted.
If I format the card in my laptop and copy files on my pocketpc can't see them.
Size doesn't fit to 2GB Card
Hi I just got my sandisk ultra II 2GB SD Card and at first it worked fine.
Magician recognized it as 2GB then i copied some files from my computer with my SD Card Reader. But after inserting the card into my magician i got some weird looking characters, files, and folders. So I inserted it again in my SD card reader and formatted the card. After that my pc and my magician doesn't recognise the card as 2GB anymore just 1GB .
Any help to solve this problem and to get my 2GB back ?
I too facing the same problem it is detecting as 1 GB instead of 2 GB also the after formatting sd card in card reader made i unformated for ppc and viceversa dam, anybody have a solution for this ?
Hi,
i have a new sandisk 2GB microSD card in my hermes. Because i have no card reader for my pc i want to format the card in my hermes.
Is it possible to do so? I cant found any option for formating.
The hermes says in settings >> memory that no card is installed.
I thing it is because the card is unformated.
I do so, but there is no storage card.
The mobile device also says that there is no storage card.
I know that Resco File explorer can format the card but most cards are formatted fat by default. The Hermes at least recognises this. If you're not even getting the sd card recognised then there may be either a problem with the card or with the Hermes.
It would be best to just fork over a few bucks and get a card reader for the pc as if the pc is recognising the sd card that means that the Hermes may have a problem. Try formatting FAT32 anywaty then put back into Hermes. May work.
If the pc doesn't recognise the sd card, does happen that new cards go bang, then I'd suggest taking the card back and getting a new one.
Cheers...
8gB micro SD
Hello,
I have the same problem. My 1gB card works fine in my Hermes but the new 8gB is not recognized. Spec says phone can only take maximum of 2gB but other forums say can use 32gB. My latest clue is that the card was preformatted with FAT32 and the Hermes requires FAT. However FAT can only deal with Volumes up to 4gB. So I stumped.
If you read a bit further you'd realise that these people with 32 Gb cards run custom roms which have the patch applied...
There is a cab file running around that allows you to run sdhc cards on WM 5/6 but I can't remember what its called (try sdhc patch in search)...
Hi,
I just received a t3238 htc clone(wm 6.5 professional- Build 23090.5.3.0 with
marvell PXA310 processor)
My problem is that the device does not recognize the micro sd card (2g) which came along with the phone.
I plugged the sd card on my pc and works just fine.
But when I insert the sd card to the phone, nothing happens.
I go to Settings/System/Memory/Storage card and it says
Total Storage Card Memory: not installed
But if i go to Settings/System/About it says
Expansion slot: in use
and when i unplug the sd says
Expansion slot: not in use
Already formatted the sd and did a hard reset.....
... but still nothing (also tried another sd card with no result)
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone has k3firstaid.exe????
Can't find it...
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
