Problem with the buttom placement - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Just to see if there is workaround?
When i place my qtek in supplied covers, it sometime press the phone buttom switching in phone mode and redial last call.
I lost more than 50 minutes air time just this month.
Did hapend to you? Is any case or covers better to avoid this.
Same for the camera? I always miss press that buttom. Is any way to disactivate that buttom. Being able to switch back when needed naturally.
Besides that i do enjoy my qtek s200

For the camera button you can go to "Start > Settings > Buttons" and assign it "<None>".
As I didn't use the voice dialing I've set the camera to be "Button 4(Hold)".
You could also just lock the phone when it's in your pocket?
From that same location loko down the bottom and select the "Lcok" tab and make sure the first checkbox is checked. "Lock all buttons except the Power button".

Thank you very much
Now it seems so stupid. The problem is that receive a German model. As i don't know nothing about German ...
Thanks again

Could you not flash it with an English rom if you don't understand German?

Button issue since new O2 ROM

Hi.
Just wondered if anyone else had noticed that since the new O2 ROM upgrade, the green phone button on the edge no longer wakes the device up?
Only a minor gripe but still...
Smiffy.
Er I haven't upgraded the ROM yet and the green button dosn't wake the device on my machine either. Have you got the keylock on now, when prior to upgrade you didn't otherwise no button other than the power button should wake the device by design.

Funny that, I used to use the light button on the front of my exec to turn it on from standby, but that doesn't work now after latest rom update.
Brett
i have the same problem, so annoying when it's easier just to press the light button to wake it up
maybe it's the new "feature" of the upgrade? or rather not...
***Update***
I have just found a workaround for this problem. You need Spb Pocket Plus 3.1 for this. If you don't already have it, get a trial copy. Once you have it, go under Pocket Plus options, select "Buttons", then press "Feature Options", press "Assign to Buttons", press the "Lock" tab, then select the radio button "Do not lock buttons", and you're homefree! Now all the hardware buttons will wake up the phone, save for the green and red call buttons on the hinge, I wonder why...
this is like the blind leading the blind
go to settings
then buttons
then select LOCK, and select the option "do not lock buttons"
you need to press the button for a split second.
Paul
There ya go - I knew I wasn't imagining it
Cheers for that - even though I feel a bit dumb now because I like to think I'm a pretty advanced user (especially when I've had 15 years working in IT and computers as a consultant ) and it never even occured to me to go looking for the simple solution
I guess I should start looking for a new day job ;-)
Cheers,

Screen go off on phone call

Hi, everyone. My Tytn when is on a phone call, switch off the screen. I can't find anything like this in the forun (perhaps I don't look for on the right way).
I not find how to disconnect it on the configuaration of my Tytn. Does anybody knows how to get the screen on during a phone call.
The problem is when I'm driving, and on a phone call, lose the screen and my navigator instructions. It's is a problem, cause, I must to switch on the PDA and reconnect the navigator. (the people alwais call on the worst moment , I don't know why?)
Thanks to all.
Start>Settings>System>backlight>Battery Power, then take the tick off the selection "Turn off backlight if device is not used". Do the same under the external power tab.
At the bottom of the screen you should see a MENU option. Click on the Advanced tab then take the tick off the option "Turn off device if not used for ...."
This lot should solve your problem. The downside is you might then start to use more battery power as the device leaves itself in an always on position.
VCheers

wacky.banana has offered some good advice. But IF your problem happens ONLY when a phone call comes in, then I think you might have phoneAlarm installed and configured to do this. pA includes this feature in order to let folks listen and speak, with the phone against their ear, and not fear starting up myriad applications as their ear touches the pressure-sensitive screen.
Just an idea.
-pvs
just press the button
just press the standby button, or any button to turn the screen back on,
id rather have the option to turn the screen back on, rather than having it on all the time especially if i am out and about, and as we all know, battery power on the tytn is a precious commodity :_)

request: key locker

Can Any one make the following app? Would it cost me? Does it already exist?
Usually, when your phone is in standby and you get a call, the screen turns on and you can take the call pressing the "send" button.
Is there an app for WM6 (or can some one make it) that can tweak the settings and I still have to press the "on" button to turn on the screen and the buttons?
Or is there a simple registry tweak for that?
Let's say a person cannot take the call accidently under any circunstances. The person doesn't want to press by accident the "take call" button and let the caller hear his conversation.
(no I do not cheat on my wife... I wouldn't cheat on her... i don't have a wife actually)
Regards.
you can lock your phone by holding the disconnect button after you are done using it. It will ask for you to either tap an clearly marked button or enter a certain sequence of symbols (I believe it's ***).
This would be a native, and there non memory taking, solution

Thanks, but on my phone that is not helping... it lets you take the call anyway with only pressing connect button... thus insecure. Well at least on my phone. I want to have a hard time answering, and never answer by mistake.
btw, TyTN II
i agree i would like to have a program like this on my phone also..
i second that too.
thats something we NEED.
S2U looks promising but i cant get it set up so the send and disconnect button are disabled
Any helpers?
I can pay

Prevent screen switching off during phone call

Hi,
I have read and tried what I could find, but it does not work on my Jade.
Are there any new ideas how to keep the screen from swithching off?
Joe
This is copied from the Jade Manual:
Call functions
When a call is in progress, tap the available buttons on the Phone screen to put a
call on hold, dial another contact for a phone conference, enter notes about the
conversation, and more.
None of the above is possible because the screen disappears by itself.
Do HTC know about it? This seems to be a major f...up.
This problem has been discussed in many threads, there is no real solution.
If you activate the speaker for hands-free immediately after connecting the screen keeps on.
on mine the screen goes off... but if i press one fo the direction buttons it comes back on and stays on so i can use the keypad or look at contacts etc
Thank you guys.
I will try to contact HTC because I think this is a major fault. There is no access to those Call Functions if the screen disappears.
But people should also have the choice of switching the screen off to conserve battery during long conversations. That should be one of the Call Functions.
I tried to bring the screen back by pressing the OK button, but instead it ended the call. So why do we need the END button ?? Poor HTC. They are in front of themselves. Ever producing new half-baked models without thinking it properly out.
I have not tried the < or > buttons, but it would be risky because usually the OK button gets activated as well.
Has anybody on any HTC forum tried to petition HTC? I think this issue would be a nice one for a petition.
Joe
you say you dont want the screen to switch off but u dont want the < and > active?
tring to understand what you want/dont want here?
if i press < or > the screen comes on fully functional...
I did not say I did not want the < > keys active. I don't care what those keys do because I don't use them. The reason is that when I use them, I always inadvertently activate the Enter button. On my phone that terminates the call - the same as the End key.
It would be nice (and even logical) to have the Enter (OK) button to wake up the screen instead of the directional buttons. Maybe there is a registry tweak to do that.

I think it's about getting used to and familiarising with the intended design and button functions. Now after nearly 12 months using Jade I have no complaints. Even using phone banking, no problem with inputting the required numbers. Concur with MvBoe and DJHicks. It should also be acknowledged that this is 80% PDA and 20%phone (roughly).

I was playing with the < and > keys to try to bring the screen back on, and I can definitelly tell you it does not work on my phone.
While doing that, I accidentally pressed the Power on/off switch - and voilá - the screen came back on and stayed on.
I repeated the experiment to confirm it.
Why didn't I think of it earlier? So obvious.

Good for you Joe. I suppose many other Jade users are already using that method. I thought you knew it already but wanting something more simpler.

Also with other buttons if you set your phone to wake up with all buttons. See item #10 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476493

Hi,
Check whether the below setting is enabled.
Start > Settings > Menu > All Settings > Today > Items
The setting "Today timeout", at the bottom left hand corner,
should not be selected/enabled.
