I need to get the ROM version of the device by code, but I can't find out how....If someone has got any links it would be much appreciated.
Does not matter if it is C++ or C# too me....

Have you had any luck finding a method to get the ROM version?
You can use lineGetGeneralInfo to get the radio ROM version, but I still cannot find a method to get the device ROM version..
Does anyone know a proven technique to get the device ROM version on WM 5.0?
Thanks!
There must be a way.... can anyone reverse engineer the "Device information" application and find the code that gets the ROM version...?

Version 1.1 of the Special Edition ROM is now out:
Fixed:
- Based on O2 3.17.03 ROM: annoying reply to SMS bug fixed
- Everyone can now use GPRS
- Pocket IE opens GPRS connection
- Serial ActiveSync now works
- Minor issues and cosmetics
New:
- Brand new version of dbView tool
- EzWAP2
- Our own band switch tool for US users, switch between all three bands
(no guarantee your hardware supports it, but at least you can now try)
This is now officially the coolest ROM for you, no matter where you live...
See the mkrom page for details on how to build this ROM (difficult), or wait for some kind soul to build the EXE, and just download and run it (easy).
Thanks a lot for your effort. I've really enjoyed the possibility to create my own ROM.
Is it possible to get a look on the source code of that welcome.exe app? So far it 's the only closed thing in your package.
thanks
XDA-developers ROM v1.1 installer
Thanks to Andre, who was online during the announcement and who sent me a message, I must have broken some speed records:
Click here to download a new and tested version of Special Edition ROM v1.1. Simply run the exe and presto...
This version fixes most if not all of the problems some people had with the 1.0 release. Thanks to the XDA-developers for doing such cool work, and for making their instructions easy to follow...

The source is online: http://xda-developers.com/mkrom/welcome101-src.zip . The source for the welcome in the previous ROM was available too. Look at the mkrom page for details...
Let us know if you come across cool tricks we could incorporate in our ROMs too.
oh, to my previous post:
nevermind, my wish is granted, found the sources on the mkrom page.
thanks
update
jeff summers, you are a prince amongst men! Ta!
This is wonderful.
My PIE & ActiveSync over GPRS are now working well with this ROM + AT&T SX56 radion on my T-mobile USA device.
Thanks again XDA Developers, and Jeff for being so 'quick' with his help!
cheers,

Jeff you're like greased lightning!!! Well done to the boys and girls at xda-developers for this update, it seriously rocks!! MaxIreland and "guest" refered to a prog called sms-char-counter....
freeware tool written from a user at a german xda forum. it's an sms-char-counter

Any more genious people out there who know where to get this from?? I'll learn german if I have to! Maybe it would be a good addition to the next version of the ROM!!

OK silly question...
I am here in the uk...
Last time i tried to flash my xda with the radio upgrade i lost all functions on the device and had to send it back to the service centre to be repaired...
If i run the exe that has beed kindly created is there any chance of screwing up my device again!...
I would be running via USB and the docking station that came with the decive!..
I want to do this but am a little worried after the last incident!...

thx for your great work.
is there any "diff" tool for ce, so that i know what ezwap2.5 or other programs (like an sms-counter) are installing exactly for using with mkrom?
if i got you right, then i need all files installed and all registry-entries?
is there any install-tracker on ce?

Two questions:
Is EzWap version 2.5 MMS or 2
When you say:
"- Everyone can now use GPRS"
What do you mean exactly by this ?
Because we have a serious problem with our local operator: they "upgraded" the GPRS system (by Erickson) last week, and since then, all GPRS on Pocket PC's stopped connecting. Is the new ROM the solution ?
ezwap 2.5 has got MMS
is there a program on the new ROM which can open pdf files instead of acrobat reader?
Thanks Jeff and you wonderfull developers, This ROM is great and I didn't have to mess arround in UNIX to install it.
thx man gonna try it soon !
installed it but the autoconfig still doesn't work on my xda ?
SMS-Counter Software to include in ROM
u'll find it here (german thread in forum):
http://www.ppc-welt-community.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21372&highlight=smscounter
Try it.... it sits as small programm in the taskbar naming "start" (because it's right over the start button).. it runs always... taking nearly no cpu-time. when u start to write a sms then it begins to count (like nokia).

Hmmm..... Just a quick question. IF i sent you a bootloader pic and a theme (all in proper format) would you be willing to add it to your kitchen?
It's a Star Trek Theme/bootpic I created.
I can't for the life of me get my kitchen to work at all.
yeah, of course, your contributions are always welcome! send it to: [email protected]
Hi all,
For some reason php is acting funny on my friend's box, using 100% of the available processor cycles every time it is invoked. We're working on fixing this, but I must say I have very little time these next few weeks. I suggest everyone that needs to cook using Yorch's kitchen for now.
Yorch: shall I just forward to yours for now?

Jeff

Does anyone have any experience with this program?
If yes,
1) Is it possible to build a OS for a custom device?
2) Is there a way to extract files from a magician ROM?
3) Is it posible to import magician drivers in the platform builder?
4) Can platoform builder create a ROM file with WM2005 to be used with the magician?
Any help is highly appreciated

Yes. I've managed to boot Pentium 3 with WinCE 4.20 about 2 years ago. Have not tested this with WinCE 5.0 but it should work.

Of cause it can.
But noone can use a trial PB to create WM5 ROM without BSPs. Only WinCE 5.0 ROMs can be created for a limited set of devices.
thank you very much
Hey, ive just installed the new PB and want to build a CE5 rom for a PC. Can you give me some tips on how you did it?
I also have a thin client box the Compaq T20, it has embedded NT4 atm and id love to put wince 5 on it too, if you have any helpfull hints id love to hear them.
Ive managed to build a rom, but im not sure how to make it work on a PC or the T20...
mamaich, if i wanted to build a rom for a HTC phone, how would I start?
Choose Xscale BSB, then maybe add some drivers, then how do I get it on the phone?
I don't want to have a fully functional OS, just to experiment. Are there any chances of destroying the bootloader or anything? If you have any experience or any tips please answer

Hi!!
Anyone knows if it's possible to run the "HTC Home Customizer application" on a Qtek 9090 ??
I tried to install a couples of times, everythings looks correctly but never works..
Thanks !!
well it works just fine on Blueangel, if you useng WM5 you need .NET CF 2.0 to make it work
I have the WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20758 and Microsoft .NET CF 2.0....
There are any special thing that I need to know to make it runs??
or any tutorial?
Thanks !!

Not that I can think of. It is really a "Run the Cab" and "Have Fun" kinda application. It may sound like a silly question, but which version of HTC Home do you have installed? You may have to revert back to an older version to make it work. However, I have not seen anything that suggests this... but hey, give it s shot, it might just work
Thanks for your advise mate!
I'm using the "HTC Home Version 1.0 Final" and "2.1 Build 1005722" Plugin version
You know where can a find the old version ??
In the official website only I can find the new one...
Thanks again!

Is that normal???

I would like to know how do I find out which version of Microsoft .NET Framework I have on my HTC HD2 [tomobile]? and if there is a location where I can get the latest build?
thanks
By the looks of your sig, looks like you're running a custom ROM, so I'd assume 3.5 which is the latest.

Ok, so where within the phone I can verify that its actually 3.5.
which version of .net
It's been a long time and no reply. I have the same question. Does no one know or is it impossible to find out the .net version currently running on an HTC HD2?
search is your friend...
i typed in "what version of .net do i have" and yielded this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3477489&postcount=2
is the way to check for sure...
cheers.
cgautil.exe missing
thanks! I looked but can't find cgautil.exe. I don't know if that's because it isn't there or because of the flaky scrolling in the HTC HD2. I'm finding it difficult to believe they issued the thing (the North American version) without .net. Is that what others have found?

i have tmous stock ROM and it is there. and 3.5 came preinstalled.
question
I have the same rom as you 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE according to my phone. But I cannot find cgautil.exe on the phone. Either the claim that if you can't find that file you don't have .net is incorrect, or else there are two different roms coming out under the same number, one with and one without .net. Anyone know the answer? If not, can anyone with experience loading these big programs tell me what will happen if I attempt to install .net 3.5 on a phone that already has it installed? Will it warn me to stop? Sorry to be so uninformed but this is the first "smart phone" I have owned. Last phone was a Nokia 1661 (you get the idea). thanks!
Hi
if you have a registry editor, you can check it in the following location;
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/.NETCompactFramework
you can get a registry editor from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347178
also check item 13 on the hints and tips thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
it's there!
That worked. I found it where you said it would be. Thanks a lot!
