Just use pocket IE or file explorer and type in the UNC path of the location on your home PC, e.g. \\HOMEPC\MYMUSIC.
Could you let me know which version you are using for the XDA IIi and which model WAP? I've been trying to get my IIi to work with a 3COM OfficeConnect WAP to no avail (both work and home). Work WAP is carrying about 5 different client WIFI cards (and a HP IPAQ). Home WAP is carrying 3 different WIFI cards. No problems in either case. Just my XDA IIi is unhappy. Home WAP is running the lastest firmware from 3COM and Work WAP is running original firmware. My XDA IIi doesn't work with either. I have managed to get the XDA to WIFI on a neighbour's WAP working. Which seems to indicate that XDA IIi is OK.
I've seen another post where there was a problem with a linksys 54g / XDA IIi

Anybody got any ideas?
UPDATE: Got IP address @ work wap from MS DHCP server. Can ping/traceroute using vxUtils, but the device doesn't appear to "know" it's connected. IE, etc still tries to use GPRS.

I managed to establish a connection and got access to the internet via a VPN-Server in the local network connected via Wifi to my XDA mini. I had also problems with vpn connection going down.
Unfortunately I have some troubles with my Wifi card, so I don't have the exact settings. But AFAIR the problem was solved by doing this:
- Going to Settings->Connections->Connections->Advanced->Execptions
- Using New URL to add "*" and "*/*".
(I have a german version, so I'm not sure, how the buttons are labled in english)
I think the problem is, that the software thinks, VPN connects always to the INTRAnet at your workplace. By adding this "Exections" you tell the device, that the hole internet is included in the intranet.
Maybe there is a routing tool for PPC which can solve this, too?
I have a XDA mini S. At home I have a wireless router/hub that is hard connected to my PC, but I connect to internet from my laptop via wifi (direct to router/hub) using an always on broadband connection.
I use WPA security, but when I tried to set up the XDA to connect wifi it didn't seem to have the ability to enter the WPA settings.
Ideally I'd like to use the XDA to network with the PC and the laptop for file transfers, but if I can't do that, at least I'd want to enable the XDA to access the inernet via the router/hub directly (ie without the other devices being turned on).
Can anyone help with this please - I know from other postings on this site that I'm not the only sufferer, but I haven't see a definitive solution.
Thanks

Hiya, bit of a strange one this. I have an iMac at work with built in Bluetooth. What I'd like to do is surf the net on my Xda Trion using a Bluetooth link to my network-connected iMac.
I've tried going into the Xda in System, connections and trying to change the My ISP connection to use Bluetooth, but it doesn't want to accept it. I know the Mac can see my device but as yet whenever I fire up Pocket Internet Explorer it just uses 3G and GPRS to connect; in fact I see no option to surf using a Bluetooth connection.
I suppose in summary then, I want to use my iMac as one big Bluetooth Modem for my Xda. Is this possible and if so what am I doing wrong?
Hi y'all,
Firstly I've had my XDA about a day! so 'cuse the noobiness here.....
I'm trying to access the internet at home from my xda via my laptop....
I have a router (not wireless) that my laptop connects to and my laptop then has a wirless card through which my xda will connect.
I have setup and ad hoc network between the xda and laptop and switched Internet Connection Sharing to be on for my LAN connection.....
However I cannot connect to tinterweb with my xda, the error message I receive is 'The Page Cannot be foun. Check the name and try again'
Anyone advise on how to sort this please.
Many Thanks
Frosty
How can I use WI-FI to connect my O2 Orbit 2 Xda to the internet instead of Mobile Data when I am at home?
I have Mobile Internet as my free bolt on from O2 and the Mobile Data works well.
However at home I have a Linksys wireless router and I want to connect my Xda to the internet using my home wireless network to take advantage of the faster data speed.
Getting my Xda to connect to my wireless router seems to have been very easy. It says it is connected and shows a full set of green bars.
Having turned off Comm Manager / Data Connection when I use IE / Email / MSN etc from the Xda, Comm Manager / Data Connection turns back on and establishes a connection and the Xda uses Mobile Data not WI-FI.
With all the collective expertise in this forum I had hoped I would get a reply / answer to this problem by now
what problem are you having? I've got my orbit 2 talking to my BT home hub no probs. When I got it, I simply switched on Wifi from comms manager, it found my wireless network and I entered the WPA key and hey presto - off it went.

My Orbit 2 will connect to my home network (Linksys WRT300N) no problem.
However when I collect email or surf the web etc my Orbit 2 decides it would rather use my Mobile Data and not the WIFI.
My mobile data is the FREE bolt on from O2 so it is not costing me any thing extra, however I would like to use WIFI at home because it is faster, and because I should be able to.
