Lotus Notes sync - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Ok, so I have been happily running my exec with outlook for sometime now, however as a kick in the preverbials, my company has decided to go over to Lotus Notes 7.0... Not my call or choice.
How do I sync with Lotus notes calendar and contacts???

Hi MarkJL,
Go to the website of Commontimes, they have a great Notes sync solution called mNotes. I am using it since 3 years, and it is syncing always without a hick. You will get a 30 days trial period, so have a closer look !

Can THE XDA II be used with outlook and lotus notes?

Hi,
i've just got an XDA II and am synching it at home with my outlook.
At work we use lotus notes, so is there any way i can synch with both computers and maybe keep things seperate?
Cheers
Yes you can do this. I use a product called mNotes from Commontime who are based in Derby (see www.commontime.com). This will automatically create a new mail account for you so you will end up with an Inbox for Outlook, an Inbox for Notes and an Inbox for SMS. The beauty of mNotes is that its very tightly integrated with Notes and highly reliable with Notes replication. Its also cheap (in terms of business software) at £50 per client.
Will this also import and add calender items and contacts from both?
Cheers
yes
However it will use the same data store for contacts and calendar so items will sync from outlook to the pda and then to the Lotus Notes.
Talk to your Lotus Notes admins. I'm currently rolling out an XDA solution for syncing Lotus Notes over GPRS using a package called OneBridge Connect. It's secure and very good. We have just rolled it out to our top execs and it's all praise so far.
This is free from Microsoft, it's a connector link for using outlook on your desktop to get to your Lotus Notes servers.
Beauty of this is, if you can install Outlook at work you can use it instead of your Notes client, and you then use activesync to do the business for you.

The advantage of mNotes is that you get *everything* and much greater control over what you're replicating. It also works over the 'net, either through ActiveSync or GPRS (I do this myself.) Further, maintenence costs just 25% of the retail price (and there's plenty of bulk discounts at 10, 50, 100, 250, etc licenses) and entitles you to 24/7 support and access to download all new versions of the software as they appear =)
Don't bank on getting support from M$ for anything, or from Lotus for a M$ app...
How about other Lotus Notes application?
I thinking of accessing the office LAN through wi-fi connection, and perhaps besides Email, accessing through a couple of LN applications.
Have any one tried Mobile Notes client in the XDA 2 or equivalent?
regards,
Henry
mForms (www.commontime.com) allows you to use Lotus Notes applications on your PDA =)
Someone at [email protected] can talk to you more about the exact capabilities of mForms.

Microsoft Outlook Replacement?

Anybody know of a program that is a suitable replacement for Microsoft Outlook which can sync to the Touch?
I'm coming from the Palm platform and the Palm Desktop was so much easier and simpler to use.
I've seen replacements for the Touch contact program but nothing to replace Microsoft Outlook for the desktop.
I'd like to remove Outlook from my computer and find something that would sync contacts and or appointments to the Touch.
http://funambol.com/
There are a lot of other possibilities to replace outlook and/or activesync. But after reading the adventures blog of someone who tried them all out it was very convincing that this is the best. Actually he described 8 different solutions on his blog, most of which I had not been able to find googling for over two days.
For those of you who are still relying on Outlook: it has proven it's reliability to me from 1997 till last week. Then it crashed, refused to open my pst file with all my contacts, my appointments, my tasks and an email archive of overr 3 years. It also refused to start with a backup pst. It also refused to start from scratch with a new profile and import either an old pst or comma delimited backup.
It'll take me some time to recover from this horror scenario
I'd just like to pipe up and say that I'm not a fan of the ActiveSync/Outlook combo either. I always end up with duplicate or even triplicate contact entries. A friend of mine who uses Hotmail as his primary email says he doesn't have this problem, but I refuse to be forced into Hotmail just for this purpose.
If your primary email is GMail, then follow the directions here:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
And your contacts and calendar will stay in sync via Google's own Exchange server. Unfortunately, they don't have Mail syncing via Exchange yet for some reason. But you can set up GMail with IMAP in your Email client, or you can download a third-party push-email software which will allow for a further realtime-ness to it all.
As for desktop software beyond Outlook, I don't think I can make any suggestions, I've been on GMail for a long time now. And even more so, I've been using Android full time for nearly a year now, which is even better than my above suggestions, as long as GMail is what you use primarily.

how do I sync my HTC Diamond with my Lotus Notes calendar?

hi guys
is there an easy way to sync my calendar entries from my Lotus Notes on my work laptop with calendar on my HTC ?
cheers

does it can solve your problem?
i'm installing mnotes on monday. Will let you all know how it's configured.
Cheers
I use companion link to do a one way sync to google calendar (have had problems using two way - wouldn't recommend it), and ogg synd to sync google calendar with my HTC Touch Pro.
Works like a charm, although my laptop (with Lotus Notes on it) has to be running and connected to update my goolge calendar.
If you're a blackberry user, you can also use the google sync app for blackberry (from google) to sync your calendar, although again, I had issues with two way sync (duplicate entries, changing meetings to appointments which sent a decline/cancel to other attendees).
I've also used mnotes in the past and found it to be excellent, but never used the ota functionality.

Apologies I should have been clearer! Yes I mean Lotus Notes, I can find software to do one or the other but not both like I could with the software for my P1i.
Many thanks
Ant
I figured you meant lotus notes. I haven't been able to find any software that will do it. I've heard intellisync does it but i never got it to work on windows mobile 6.1. There is easy sync pro which might do both but its like 60 bucks.
For both Outlook and Notes you can use softwares like XTNDCONNECT PC (v6.5) or EasySync Pro V4.2.6.
It works fine for me.
Best regards

Both gonna cost you around 60 bucks
I'm using Commontime mNotes Desktop to sync with Lotus Notes. It is working very well. There is a free trial at www.commontime.com
The only issue is that this is a yearly subscription software.
Thanks for all the info people I was playing around with different components last night and was looking for a way to have a single piece of software do the syncing from both Notes and Outlook directly to my WM device. I have access to Lotus Easysnyc and this works great to get my cal out of Lotus Notes on to the X1, but it only has Lotus Notes as a datasource and not Outlook.
XTNDConnect will expose both Lotus Notes and Outlook as data sources but as mentioned its 60 USD to purchase, its the same as Easysync but provides hook ins to other data sources unlike Easysync which appears to be limited/licensed to only Notes.
The current solution I have running is Easysync for my notes cal and Activesync for contacts etc out of Outlook - not ideal as difficult to get both to autosync on connection but it works for now and until I get fed up and purchase XTNDConnect
Many thanks

Interesting, I have EasySync Pro 4.2.6 but I do not see Outlook in the data sources, how did you get Outlook in the datasources? I only get Outlook with XTNDConnect.
Thanks
Sorry I made a mistake : You are right.
EasySync and XTNDCOnnect PC can work with WM & Symbian phones but only XTND can sync with Notes and Outlook.

Migrating from a Touch Diamond

Hi,
Contemplating on buying the Hero. I have been using PIM backup for years. Can I migrate it all accross? What is the syncing like with Outlook please?
Cheers,
Will
There is no version of PIM Backup for Android at present (can't see it in the future either).
Though you could use a trial version of 4smartphone.com or a free exchange host to sync your email and contacts and the download them to the hero. This is what I did.
The only thing missing was the text messages - but that was fine for me.
I have gone from a Diamond (Ignito) to a Hero and i love it...
What i did was sync my contact in outlook and then export them to e CVS file and uploaded it to my GMail account.
Sync with GMail and now i have all my contacts on my phone, its great
im uesing roadsync to sync with microsoft exchange ... its works quite well ish apart from the contacts i ended up with two of everything
but calender and email are fine and its free
cant go wrong
Also went from a Touch Diamond to a Hero. All my contacts and calendar were linked with my Gmail account, so transferring it across was a doddle. Only issue at the moment is having a different phone number for 3 days while the PAC code is actioned.
i went from a Touch Diamond to a Hero aswell and all i did was sync my contacts to outlook and then had to sync them back with htc sync to the hero and all was good.
Went from Diamond to Hero, I use HTC Sync for calendar and contacts sync with Outlook 2007, works fine.
I went from a Diamond to Hero too.
Firstly, I can now understand what i have been missing out on by not having a capacitive touch screen!
Also, I synced my outlook contacts with google contacts first. Using some freeware called: GO Contact Sync.
Its a good simple app. From there its easy, the hero will autosync with google contacts and voila!
All you have to do is run the program every so often to keep it all up to date.
I also made the switch but from Diamond2 and after YEARS on Windows Mobile devices... very easy to use. 2007 exchange server working perfectly with Contacts, calendar and mail. It's fantastic. OK there's a few issues with the smoothness of the UI at times but hey I remember the first releases of TFL3D and that was far worse than this... and look how smooth it is now. So. I'm sure this will be improved by HTC very soon.
