I've got an XDA Mini S on the O2 network, and people keep telling me that they are receiving my texts twice :?
Does anyone know why this is, or how I can fix it?
Hi Gazhowell
I had the same problem with mine on O2. Found the problem to be SPBpocket plus on the phone! Try not to close the text messages window until you get the message sent confirmation.
I was closing it just as it had sent so when i opened it again it would send again without a notification!
Hope this helps.
Blimey that was a quick reply
I do have spb so I'll try your suggestiong about keeping the window open. Thinking about it now I have been quickly closing it before waiting for the sent confirmation.
Seems an annoying little bug though.
It is not a bug. SMS just cannot be closed while sending. Try to add tmail.exe into hidding (not really closing) apps [in close settings in spb].
In my point of wiev on pda's with phone Contacts and Messages should be hidden, not closed. It speed up opening a lot. While using phone this two features are used most.

Thanks for that - I'll give it a try
Yeh i found the same issue when i was closing it too quick!!
give it a shot and let us know how it goes.
Savac has a good point actually. it really should be set to hide as opposed to close that would cure the problem.
good luck!
sms twice
i also had the same problem but didnt have spb installed then so it isnt that that is causing this problem i just wait too till see confirmation message
SMS TWICE
Any suggestion ? Maybe any tweaks or reg modifications ? I wait for confirmation about sms sent, but after wakeup my wizard sending sms second time anyway .
Easy fix don't use Spb Plus
This not only goes for SPB Plus, but for every task manager that really closes apps instead of minimizing them like the standard Wm5 behaviour. They all close the tmail.exe too soon, thereby causing the app to think that the sms was not send and sending it again. Just wait for the "message sent"pop-up before you close the messaging app and you should be fine. Alternatively, you can make an exception in your task manager that tmail.exe is not really closed but only minimized. That also works of course.

Hi guys,
I have a confirmation after a SMS is sent. Telling me "the sms is sent"
and an enveloppe will show at the top of the XDA2 (the same enveloppe you got when you received an Email)
But the enveloppe Icon won't go?? Unless I do a reset???
If I get an SMS and I read the SMS, then the Icon will go away.
But in this case since this is just a confirmation, and there is no SMS to read. I can't get the icon to leave??
can someone help?
thank you
This happens to me as well from time to time...I think it has to do with if you come out of the Inbox applet a little too soon, or sometimes if you don't click on the envelope icon once it appears.
One of those annoying little things but I don't think it does any harm to your messages or anything. A soft reset always clears it for me.
Anthony
same here with ruu172104wwe on O2 XDAII, does happen 3-4 times a week, soft reset will wash the taskbar..
same here
Exactly as Anton says (same on XDAI). If you send an SMS message and exit the INBOX too quickly, the "sent" envelope gets stuck.
It's a bug!
never happent to me but i have heard that people with pocket plus who have not removed the option where it really do close applications insted of just minimizing them having this problem
Thank you
thank you
I was thinking I'm the only one.
Have a nice week-end

My problem is even worst! Sometimes, when I send an sms the small box-icon remains there and if I tap on it,..the beneficiary gets another sms once again!!
I have Spb Poket Plus & Spb Full Screen keyboard installed. Maybe it's due to those software!
iv been getting this with my m1000
and wadda ya kno.... iv got pocket plus running with the "close" option bit....
well if you got pocket plus
and do use the REAL close option
cant you just wait untill the sms is sent before
you close outlook
imho then the real close option is a bit of a problem
because ms never ment programs to be closed that way / at all
Hi there,...I contacted Sbp software and explain the problem,... I disabilited the "really close option" and the problem never appears. ... I close applications manually.
That's all folks
i dont really see it as sbp's problem but more as outlooks problem
if their request to send get messed up because of the sender being killed it's not really sbp's problem it's the way outlook is
of cause one may think it odd that sbp make their closing the default option
For Rudegar
Of course you are right! it's not sbp's problem. I immediately supposed it's an outlook problem. I really hope future versions of outlook would consider this fact. But the important for me was to stop SMS problems. Disallowing "close all" option solved it. And for me (and I think other people having this problem) it's more than acceptable.
sms icon
You need to add tmail.exe to the programs the Plus 2.0 marks as exceptions.
you need to open your inbox, then open Options of Plus 2.0 and add in the exceptions the last program opened(in this case the sms program which you opened...tmail.exe)
that should do it
It seems to be working fine!! many thanks jokz23!!
thank you very much
It seemed working fine,...
After my previous post, I added tmail.exe as exception,... The application didn't close. Good, I sent an sms. the icon didn't froze,...but my girlfriend got -3- sms
I think we only have to renounce "really close" function.
It seems that every time I send an SMS it is sent twice. Anyone who has experienced this? It's not sucha big deal but still.
And does anyone but me think that the UI for the message application is totally retarded? I always press ok, realize it was wrong, go into the Drafs folder, bring up the message, and press "Sent".
Somehow they didn't think this one trough.
Anyways, who knows sometging about the double SMS thing?
Thanks!
If you have installed SPB pocket plus.. You need to exclude the tmail.exe from your close feature.
click on the upper right part of your lcd/options/close button/feature options/exceptions/add/browse under windows folder look for tmail.exe and press ok.
hope this helps
If you're not using SPB PocketPlus... just make sure you get the Message Sent notification before closing the messaging app.
What about when you're using wisbar advance? Is it enough to set the single tap to "minimize"?
Yes, WA is probably causing the same issue. Try single click is minimize or minimize the mail-app with the red-button.
Regards, M
I have same problems!
Try to send SMS from Contacts List.
Hold on Name and Click on "Send Text Message"
It not possible to send a SMS twice.
I have the same problem. Are you saying a software app are causing that?
This has been discussed long ago. The solution (which is not ideal) is not to close the app until the confirmation message has been received.

Hey bro. I have this problem too. but rarely. Sometimes when i send one message to 5 numbers, one of them will receive more than 5 message while the rest had it once. I hope tis one helps because it is getting iritatating to some text mates.
when i send a text message it tells me message sent, so i close the messaging app. then when i recieve a message, most of the time a reply to the message sent i open the messaging app and it tells me message sent again. also people call me telling me they recieve the message i sent them multiple times. i have spb pocket plus, do i need to add the messaging app to the exception list on the close option? i know sometimes its a network error but most of the time its from my phone. so any help on that would be great. thanks
Add TMail.exe to the close app forbid list on Spb Pocket Plus.
And do a search next time and you'll find 10s of posts on subjects like this already.
Hi there.
I have the same problem and would like to know how to solve it.
I do not use Pocket Plus on my device although I did have it installed a while ago. I've always assumed this is a bug in Windows Mobile 2003SE. Is it not?
I've done a search on the forum here and was not able to find anything helpful. Maybe my search skills need help! If anyone can point me to any threads that provide solutions to this I'd really appreciate it.
- Peter
OK, I can't be bothered typing it all out, so just believe me.
If you've got a program that CLOSES apps when you click (X) instead of MINIMIZING them (as is the default action in WM2003SE), then if you close the mail/msg app after sending, it will send 2 messages. Spb Pocket Plus is the usual app people use to change minimize to close. Other programs do it too. Fill in the blanks yourself.
thanks elyl, i did a search but didnt find the answer. i know it sucks to reply to such FAQs. i'm more proficient with symbian series 60 phones and series 90, just switched over to windows mobile to experience the differences. thanks again.
Its true. After my upgrade to QTEK 2.17.7.2 WWE my wizard sends sms twice. first when I sent it and repeats when later I open messaging app.
Anyone has experimenting these annoying problem. Do you know how to sort it? Thank you

Do you have a taskmanager such as SPB Pocket Plus or Magic Button installed with the option to really close programs? If zo, add \windows\tmail.exe to the exeptionlist to prevent the sms program is really closes, this could solve your problem.
same problem with same ROM but fr version. :x I've no solution....
I'm interesting by a simply explanation :!:
1-2tje:
Yes I have spbpocketplus. I'll do what you suggeat and test. Thank you
I have the same problem but with MultiMedia messages (not text messages) being sent twice. I think tmail.exe handles those too, so I'll try your suggestion.
Andre
If it doesn't work (e.g. for MMS), try adding the file "poutlook.exe" in the \windows folder to the exeption list.
This seems to happen when you close the messaging application before the text message is sent. If you wait 2-3 seconds after sending your sms before you close the messaging application you should not get this problem.
Re: Sending twice
Hi all, I thought i'd add my findings to this.
It has happened since the Wallaby's this has. I found it was down to not waiting for the "sms sent" nitification. If you shut the app before you get that notification it sends them twice. If you wait for the notification and then shut, you'll be ok.
I haven't tested this on the wizard as i use SmartSkey to close, which has an exception list, messaging being one of them so i only ever minimise it, but this was certainly the case on the older models.
My O2 XDA Mini S seems to send messages twice (it only seems to happen if I send it to a lot of people at once, say 10 or 12 people).
This is annoying as I don't have a huge text limit in my O2 contract.
Any ideas why it's happening?
Are you using a task manager like Wisbar etc? Anything that lets you close apps?

I use InClose for closing apps instead of minimising them.
If you immediately close (not minimise) Pocket Outlook after pressing send, it will try to resend it, ultimately sending it twice. Give it a few seconds until you get confirmation that it's sent, before closing, or set it up as an excluded app.
