call history - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

HI, previously on my XDA 2 and 2i if you pressed green call button and then up on the pad you would get the call history, but it does not work on my new Exec, any ideas or mods.
cheers Jason

Check out my VJPhoneShortcuts or some bollocks like that. I've written a new version, much better, being released after I get Buzz off MSN
Actually being released hopefully in a few days, much new and improved.

Are you happy with the PPCPE dailer?

Having had my XDA 2 now for a few weeks, and having finally worked out most of the kinks of the really inadequate bluetooth stack (by installing the widcomm stack) I am now moved to address my other annoyances: the very feature poor phone software.
I expected a very configurable phone, but was very disappointed with the microsoft dailer. The short list of features I find missing are:
No separate ring tones can be assigned to each contact. This could be very usefully, as you would know who is phoning without checking the screen.
No software to keep track of your calls or GPRS allowance. Even my old nokia from 3 years ago could do that.
No way to transfer a call from the handset to a headset. I know you can do it the other way around, why not this way too?
Very little status information on the dailer screen. Why is this, when most cell phone screens look like the status display on a jet?
Anyways, there is alot more, and people may want to add their annoyances. Im really wondering if there is any software that can replace the microsoft Dailer (like Pocketinformant replaces the pocket outlook).
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Took me a minute to know what you're talking about.
No, I hate the built-in dialer on the Pocket PC.
The author of mobidial (http://www.mobidial.com) told me there will be an XDA II version.. hopefully soon.
-arebelspy
hey,
just a few comments....
re: No separate ring tones can be assigned to each contact
- i beleive the o2 xda site has free software for download; one of which is called powercontacts. i believe it allows you to assign a ringtone to each contact. i tried it when i still had the xda1...never got it to work. so, i downloaded a trial version of ringtonex; it works like a charm and i'm able to assign individual ringtones to any contact i want. i immediately bought the software, i think it was for around 9usd. now that i'm using the xda2; the software still works great. for ringtones what i did was record the voice of my friends, officemates, my wife, and used those wav files for ringtones corresponding to their contacts. it also works in tandem with the photocontacts app in the xda2
re: No way to transfer a call from the handset to a headset
-the xda2 has bluetooth and i use it together with the bt200 headset. incoming and outgoing calls are automatically transferred to the headset.
2 cents worth.
cheers mate
robson
Transferring from phone to headset is a headset dependent thing. My HBH-65 allows me to transfer to phone and back to headset, but my Jabra wouldn't have.
Thx for the great pointers. I am definitely getting the RingtoneX app, and mobidail or something similar, when it comes out.
I just wish that developers would design more for handed use, not using a stylus, especially as bluetooth voicedailing does not work.
About transferring to a headset, I mean after you pick up a call with the XDA, transferring the call to a headset should be possible, but has not worked for me yet.
Another minor peeve, why is the sms option not on the dialler, but on the menu bar, and why is speaker phone also not on the front, but you have to press a key for it. There still needs to be alot of improvement. Hopefully independent programmers will kick in and fix all these deficiencies. It does make you wonder if the developers actually use their own devices or not...

i think it's because that most cell phones screens is their version of the today screen
i most surdenly would not wish such a confusing cluttet messy interface on my worst enemy
(yeah of cause not all cellphones are all that bad some many are)
I dont know. At least they should have the battery status on the screen, and the network logo would not be ammis either (currently its difficult to know when you have no reception, or just no reception)
Alot of the stuff thats currently in the task bar could also be bigger icons on the dailer, and it would also make it look less plain and just incomplete, as if its been thrown together at the last minute.
Surur
well not sure if it's much help but if you install some bar like advanced wisbar on your pda you'll have batt status in the bar both in today and the dialer
suppose this is a pre customised vs. free 3. party customising
some people like to set up their device with personal customising and some people want the place they buy it to handle that
in that way i suppose xda and other such devices are more like computers then std phones are
of cause if one get a xda with all the stuff in the preloaded provider rom they get more of that stuff you want
of cause thats not saying that they get enough
Ive been a user of Icbar for a long time, but as notifications is so important on a PPCPE device, and its not supported, I am not able to use it anymore. This is unfortuanate, as I enjoyed knowing what my battary status is all the time.

If you want to use your finger to dial contacts try Fingerclix by imaginet software. I used it on my Samsung I700 and now my I-Mate and it works just fine.
http://www.imaginet-software.com/index.aspx?p=fingerclix_en
This is brilliant. It would be even better if it could use the phone key insteadof loosing my contacts button. Any idea how to do htis.
Thx

Voice command and XDA2 - 32 process limit or something else?

OK. Got the XDA2..got this really cool application for it.. Voice Command.. but the darn thing doesnt work! Within a few minutes of starting the app it shuts itself down. I guess this could be related to the 32 process limitation of WM2003.. but was curious it anyone got voice command working on the XDA2. I havent even been able to get it working with only 16 running processes..
Anyway thanks in advance,
Did you disable Microphone AGC in the Control Panel? I didn't read the instructions at first either and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. But disabling that should do it.
Voice Command
It work ok on My XDA II for nearly a month.
No problem at all. I even trained one apllication but to active the voice command at it has not given me any problems.Regards
Luigi
Still no luck. ACG is disabled but after 10-15 seconds it just cuts out. Have you guys that have it working modified your startup profile or are u on the standard xda2 load. Perhaps this is an O2 problem - has anyone in the UK got this working?
Any help much appreciated.
where can one find this "voice command" - application

i'm curious....exactly what do you mean by it cuts out? do you mean you have to hit the button again to get it recognize you, or do you have to relaunch the app?

When the application cuts out. The microphone icon disappears and although the process is still running (16 threads) no voice activation works. Pressing the buton starts the application again, but sometimes the application doesnt stay running long enough to find and dial a contact. Mic settings dont work, looked for stuff on the support website but guess what... no mention of Voice Command as a product. Downloaded fonix voicedial yesterday..the works much better on the XDA, however having spent $39.99 on the Microsoft application it would be nice if it worked.
Thanks and if anyone has seen a fix for this let me know... have i really wasted $39.99?

dude! it's supposed to work that way! when you press the button it activates the mic, not the application. it is programmed to only stay on for a few seconds to allow you to say what you want, otherwise it would be processing every word and sound you made.

i read on M'softs website that this does not work on UK phones??
Sorry read it again and it simply says available for the US & Canada only.??
Is that cos its not supported here yet or does not work on uk units??

Voice Commader Works Perfect on XDA 1 Dies on XDA 2
 I Live in the UK And Voice Command Has Been Working Perfectlly On MY XDA For the last month or so. But I have now upgraded to XDA 2. And Voice Commader Is Now Very Hit and Miss. On The XDA 1 It worked Perfectlly Finding Contacts, Playing Media And Reading Back Appointments and Voice Dialling Contects. But On The XDA 2 It`s Dont Work Very Well. It Always Asks Me To "PLEASE REPEAT", Then ussally does the wrong thing, or just times out without doing anything. On My XDA 1 You could play the exact Music Track you wanted i.e. "PLAY BEYONCE FEAT. JZ" and it would play that track. On The XDA 2 forget about it. I think it maybe that the mic record volume is so loud it is confuzing the Voice command software. But I don`t know of how to fix this. Maybe we will have to wait for version 2 for a fix to these problems. So VOICE COMMANDER Rocks on XDA 1, But Dies on XDA 2. Microsoft Please Fix Soon. I miss it already.

speed access to speed dial and call history

Good morning all,
is there a way to access these features swiftly with a single hand?
I was thinking of mapping the 5 way navigation pad like if pressed down while phone pad is running it gets the call history and of pressed up it gets the speed dial.
I guess this is very inportant while driving
wish all a lovely day,

By the way Vijay555 do you have the same for qtek s100/Magician?
(I know it may not be the right place...)
I've made most of VJPhoneShortcuts for WM5 and WM2003. I'm not sure if the Speakerphone can be enabled on WM2003 through software, it's not "accesible" in the same way as on WM5. I got bored of looking for a way to do it a while back.
I can't remember if I've released the Wm2003 versions. If not, tell me what you need and I'll try to pack it up.

PS Kudos on the Psion 5. Still the best form factor I ever used. Love it.
Basically I am using your tools:
-Jump to SpeedDialer
-Jump to CallHistory
I associated them with green key and red key with xbar.
So I just press action to call xbar and press green or red to speed dial or to get to history.
That is very convinient and I thank you every day (even if xbar was able to simulate a click on the screen button through a macro, it was not working landscape and it had a delay and if the Wizard was "thinking" the delay was too short sometimes).
Anyway I wanted to install it to a friend with a S100 and I got an error I checked on your website and you warn that it is WM5 phone compatible only.
So I was wondering if it was portable to WM2003SE?
thanks.
PS: Yeh 5mx, I open it from time to time. The screen size was really great and the keyboard... the move it is sliding outside... fantastic.
The drawback was the batteries.
But now you could fit the Universal's hardware in this form factor and it would look amazing to everybody.
meroupow: sorry for taking so long to respond to this one.
Unfortunately, the way WM2003 works is slightly different to Wm5 for this app. I spent quite a long time trying to figure it out, and then wrote another tool just to help me figure it out, and just got bored, but it can be done, and will be done. Eventually...

PhonEx iconsoft phone extender (freezes phone)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2874969
thread in HTC Diamond subforum.
Tried this one on my Xperia and well,
when i get incoming call and press answer key, it starts transmitting my voice faster then original Xperia phone program,
but it has no feature to fast search for contacts by typing numbers in.
And it freezes my phone, when i have Phonex open (when i search for contacts or other) and i try to call someone, the call goes through, but instantly freezes my phone, so i have to take battery out.
Problem might be that i haven't uninstalled the original phone program, but i don't know how to do that.
I started to wonder, what program is the FASTEST for answering incomming calls ? Any ideas?
Btw, i'm new in this forum, so HEY!
I have Xperia and i want to get the most out of it.
I had HTC Diamond but didn't like it, so i returned it after 6 days of using it.

I have a french Xperia with an english version of PhonEx & when I click on the left button to open the dialler, PhoneEx appears but locked, I have next to click on the closing cross at the upper right to clsoe the PhoneEx Dialer !
& when it starts the first time to be loaded in memory, I have a crappy screen
Who has also these issues, otherwise, it is a really beautifull application, if soemone has a workaround for my issues, I will buy a license I think.... I already reported these issues to IconSoft
I have the same problem

Ouf, I fill more confident to know that I am not the only one guy having this issue
By the way, I hope that IconSoft will fix quickly these two bugs & that you have also reported this issue. More they will receive feedbacks on this issue, more they will be able to classify the urgency level of fixing it. For sure, if they fix these two issues, I feel this product as the next winner apps on WinMo....
I also have the same problem with my HTC Touch Pro (Rapheal) with Phonex 1.2 when pressing the phone button. Got it to work temporarily but turning on inesofts dialer then OFF then going back into phonex settings and saving, but its speractic. still hangs.. Great new features in 1.2 but this hanging issue is getting on my nerves.. They just need to work on these two issue ALONE and not try to add more features and release a rev with these fixes.
I am using it for a long time and very impressed of quick and smooth work, very useful application!
In my experience, the Touch HD Blackstone Dialer (here is a lot faster than the Xperia dialer although you have to slide to answer.
Haven't tried any other dialers.
FYI: I had decided to hard reset to see if Phonex 1.2 would exhibit the same behavior, it did not. THen I restored from sprite backup and began uninstalling apps and or disabling them, Today I discovered after disabling memaid (DinarSoft) service / auto start that implimented its speed enhancements for memory on reboot low and behold PhoneX 1.2 Did NOT Hang any more..
I have not tried rebooting again to be sure it stayed stable, but thought I'd mention it..
Also I UNinstalled Mortscript and related scripts I had running.
Would be interesting to see those of you who do have the problem were running these or similar applications and if disabling them resolved the problem.
Good Luck..
High CPU usage
HI,
I have another problem with the 1.2 release on my Xperia. After installing 1.2 my battery drains much faster. After a look in MemMaid I see that PhonEx.exe is between 3,5-9% CPU usage 90% of the times I check.
I have talked to Iconsoft and the are aware of the problem om some devices and it will be fixed in next release.
Next release (1.3) is scheduled for release within 1-2 weeks which is good news. They also mentioned that some new features will be implemented, like "Slide to unlock" in the caller ID screen, jippi
id agree with xperian above , the hd dialler is a better alternative.
as is the yota dialler (which unfortunately doesnt have slide to answer)
i tried this app and didnt like it, i also dont like their cheap and nasty attempt at marketing by encouraging users to spam forums

HD2 new email green blinking light

have anyone face problem with the green LED that should blink when new email arrives? all others like missed call, SMS works ok.
HTC support did not give me any real answer.
tried some tweaks but it is still not working.
any idea?
This doesn't work on anyone's HD2, regardless of ROM afaik. Plenty of folks have contacted HTC about it, but they have yet to officially acknowledge the problem, much less try to fix it.
Only 2 workarounds I'm aware of:
-use PhoneAlarm . The developer has made a special beta version that enables the blinking light.
-use this app by Netripper that makes the keypad LEDs light up when a new email arrives.
Thanks for information since HTC claims in their reply to me that all is OK with their SW and it works, which is not true.
Yeah, I had a big row with them about it.
They just kept claiming that if I sent my HD2 back to them they could flash it and fix it. They promised that they had it working on their handset.
I didn't want to send my unit back so they won this round
same situation with me but i would probably visit Taiwan soon and creat direct contact with their HQ so let's see how they respond once it comes from the mngmnt.
Cool! Go pound on their frigging desks for me, too!

It surely doesnt! Send yourself an Email right now and tell me again, that your LED next to the earpiece is flashing green...
its a shame because i will be returning my device for this reason. PA didnt work at all netrippers program works somewhat but the email has to be read in order cor the keypad fo stop blinking and thebother provram worms great 70% of the time but has too many bugs. that plus the slow loadingg music player is just too much i love winmo but i have learned to live with Android
checked it in the HQ during my visit there in Taiwan and they just told me that it works but when i asked to approach the support and show them it doesn't so they would fix it in my phone they just ignored and refused to meet me with 1 million excuses why not....
so the green led won't work for emails notification in my phone and with such working method in the HQ of HTC, i think that the Leo is my last HTC phone. :-(
Without a doubt they knew of this problem before the release. Even using android I'm still stuck supporting HTC. r

PhoneAlarm works perfect on my HD2. You just have to install version 2.32 build 405 (final). Version 2.40 didn't work on mine either.
That version worked for me as well but at least 2 out of 50 email faied to notify..
This was definitely my top gripe for a long time. Penguin over at PhoneAlarm wrote the modifications to fire the green LED when a new mail comes in. Since then, some of the clever folks over here at XDA have written their own apps to make this work.
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636439&page=14 This makes your keypad buttons blink when a new email arrives. Pretty clever, and works great.
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647875 (haven't tried this myself)
I do not like that all the kepad will look like X-MAS tree so i won't install the workaround app.
I gave up this issue and last week switched to Motorola Milestone....
You should try this Android and you would understand how far behind is the Leo
