Problem with eten skin - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hello all,
I did some searching and haven't really been able to find an answer so far. I am using the eten skin with smartdialer with the black glass blue skin. The problem is that all of the buttons have a gray shadow behind them. What's even more funny is the "History" button has a shadow behind it that says "Call History" and they don't seem to match up at all. Overall, none of the buttons are aligned correctly. Does anyone else have this problem and have you found a workaround?
I have attached a screen shot of what I'm talking about

First and foremost the Eten dialer program doesn't seem to work properly with smartdialing. It takes up too much space in the upper portion and causes the replacement of some of graphics like you are seeing.
Second you are using a skin pack on top using the Eten dialer. The Eten dialer replaces almost all of the phone program graphics, then you have replaced them again. The Eten dialer does not put the graphics in the same place as the original dialer program, so things aren't aligned properly with the text.

There's a (hacked?) version of Eten that supports smart dialing.
Unfortunately I'm also suffering from the same problem. WarlockLord, were you using any of paulyA's skins before this? The text looks like "legacy text" from his classic skins. I was using the original Eten dialer with the famous orange skin before this.
I'll post again if I find a solution to this...

I use the E-Ten dialer with smartdialing for over a week now on my Wizard.
(Pauly A) Said that it has some bugs and that it is a beta version, I didn't find or noticed ANY bugs!
It works just perfect on my device (with the standard blue skin).
Screw the original dialer.....E-Ten dialer for life

The problem with th e*Beta* version of the Eten dialler is that, even though the original (non-SD) version used 'drawn' buttons, the new version uses a comination of the two, the number pad is 'drawn' while the in-call pad seems to require system fonts, the PaulyA versions of skins have drawn buttons in both version... there are versions of the Eten Dialler with SD support that use drawn or system buttons here, and also a landscape skin, however I find either one has the same issues on the in-call pad!! Others seem to have had success though...

Has anyone had a problem with the Eten dialer and SPB Pocket Plus?
Every time I have them both installed, once I reboot, my device gets hung on the Windows boot screen. Any ideas?

yes I have the same problem with spb pocket plus!
First I installed pocket plus 3.0 and afterwards the E-Ten Dialer, then I tried it the other way round: first Eten Dialer, then SPB Pocket Plus...same result:
It hangs up in the windows mobile startup-screen.

TrueVGA (Ozvga, and others). Themes, phonepad skins, partial success.

After searching high and low, and less than honest websites, forums, et al I have finally managed to create proper themes for 640x480 (and by default, 480x640). Apparently it is as easy as taking your favorite VGA theme and changing the DPI from 192 to 96. Brilliant.
So searching further, and now really entering shady sites, there does not seem to be any WM5 (nor 6) proper VGA skins for the phone dialer.
VJbigphone is ok and all, but leaves a lot to be desired. Basilings Dopod 900 hack (the black one with the apple logo) doesnt improve on anything.
Installing a QVGA skin works, but you only cover 25% of the screen with the rest imaging the previous screen.
I have resorted to voice dialling until something shows up and allows a 640x480 skin to be applied.
Is there anyway to get a truevga phoneskin?
Hi Calavaro,
I am switching from M600 - QVGA device to X7500 - VGA and looking for all info I can get... What TrueVGA programm exactly you would recomend. Where to download?
For Dialer Pad check http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=4832
it is in Russian, but you can see screens and links. There are many QVGA, but also VGA nice theams.
Any other ideas on VGA stuff?
Regards,
Di
I use OzVGA (http://oz.sciox.org/) with great success. Its very easy to switch rom 640x480 back to defaut. Im sure that is true for TrueVGA as well, but I found Oz to fit my taste more.
I also use WA2 default skin, it helps with the top bar status icons. The default skin is perfect for my needs.
I also use Pocket Informant 2007. I absolutely dislike the built in contact list. Horrible, and a step back to before WM2002...
I also use Pocketbreeze 5 to fill up the extra today screen space. All thanks to one helpful soul here at the forums. The name eludes me right now.
Other than that I dont use any more specific things for VGA mode.
Thanks for the link, Ill be sure to study it in detail.
Thanks a lot!
On Eten M600 (QVGA) I am using:
Spb pocket plus
Spb Time
Spb Weather
Spb Keyboard
AE Buttons plus
Skype...
Smart Dial (Eten)
Pocket Music Player with custom skin
looks like Spb shell is not working on x7500... You like WA2 better?
This is the thread on WA2 theams:

Not totally not working, only the spb menu on landscape is didn't work.

Diamondish Dialskins for CDMA & GSM Touch Dialers Update:Aug3-2008 Updated Version!

Diamondish Dialskins for CDMA & GSM Touch Dialers Update:Aug3-2008 Updated Version!
Diamondish Dialer skins by [email protected]$ and superflysocal.
Most of the credit goes to [email protected]$ for initiating the graphics of this skin. I just added some finishing touches.
Update August 3, 2008: Vx.04 and Vx.34 WhiteGreen and BlackGreen dialers have now been finally updated with the new call history, back arrows, and darkened Progress Screen to match the rest of the series. There is also a new Green indialer screen courtesy of Bluemetalaxe (with his permission of course). Big Thanks to Bluemetalaxe for his permission.
Update July 25,2008: Vx.14, Vx.24, Vx.44, Vx.54 White and Black Dialers now with more darkened progress screen and more contrast with the grid along with the previous revised graphics. This should match more of the Diamond themes out there. See below.
NEW VERSION OUT SEE BELOW
Versions Vx.6 and Vx.7 has a black or white dialskin with a carbonfiber look/gray background. See post #8 and 9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2345174#post2345174
We put in a lot of work on this. Feel free to modify the graphics for your own use. If you would like to share your modified work, then post it on this thread. If you want to use it outside of this thread (ie custom ROM, own dialer thread, etc.) I would appreciate if you ask us first.
For those who want the diamond look for a dialer but have not had success with other dialers due to lack of smartdialing, bugs, or 911 compatibility issues, we have created Black and White style Diamond dialer skins for Touch layout dialers. It was written for Touch dialers that time tested for their stability and compatibilty. These are only a skin for the dialer and should not affect 911, smartdial, redial, ##*# functions, etc.
I have decided to start a new thread since the old one contains so many post of bugs and failures. I have redid all the cabs and they have all tested well so far. I can update the thread better than [email protected]$ right now, so he has given me permission to start a new thread. Old thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402708
These dialers are written for and tested on 3 different types of Touch dialers:
V2: CDMA Titan phone w/ BigButton Dialer or BlueFrog_Touch Dialer installed. These will install into the \Phoneskin folder.
V3: All other CDMA Touch dialer layout (all Touch phones). Make sure on the Progress In Call page, there is a separate Call and End buttons, before you pick this version. Some GSM phone with this type of Progress In call page will work with this as well. See second image of this post. These will install into the \windows folder.
V4: GSM Phones with HTC Dialer.cab or Wizard_reTouched_Dialer.cab installed. Make sure on your Progress In call page, that there is an End button that turns into a Call button after you hang up, before you pick this version. See third image of this post. If you have a separate Call Button and End Button on the Progress In call page at the same time, then use Version V3 (see above). These will also install onto \windows.
If you have these type of phones but they don't install in these directories, please post your phone and where the graphic files are suppose to go.
Caveat: These dialers disables the "text" on the progress (during call) page. The disadvantage of using icons instead of text here is that some of the buttons change state after you hang up. There are two instances: On the touch dialers (non-titan), the Speakerphone button becomes the Call History button after you hang up. On the titan with Big Button/BlueFrog dialer installed, in addition to this, the mute button becomes a save button if the number you justtalked to is not on your contact list. On this dialer, the icons will not reflect this change. Thus, although the function of the buttons will change after you hang up, visually the icon will not reflect this. There is no way around this. If this bothers you, don't use this skin!(Or you can use Tom108 modification linked at the end of this post which doesn't have icons on the progress page)
Installation: Make sure you have a Touch style dialer such as stock Touch dialer, HTC Dialer.cab I inlcuded below (for GSM only), or Mogul Big Button dialer (or one of its variant like the BlueFrog dialer i included on this post). Download the correct verison of the cab for the dialer skin you want. If after the cab install it doesn't ask you to soft reset, then it is highly recommended that you use a software soft reset instead of the button on your device. I have included a SmartUtilities cab below that will install a software soft reset (just go to Start->Program->Soft Reset..a German pop up will appear, select the left button to soft reset). The alternative is to wait about 5 or longer minutes before doing a soft reset, but even then it is not guaranteed the registry will stick.
Uninstall: If you have a stock Touch dialer like Sprint Touch or Touch dialer built into your ROM, when you uninstall, it should revert you back to your old default skin. For titan user with Big Button or GSM user with HTC Dialer or wizrd_reTouched dialers installed, when you do an uninstall, your default images will be lost. To recover, reinstall your dialer cab (Big Button, BlueFrog, HTC Dialer, etc.). If the text on the Progress screen doesn't reappear, try looking here:

if you chose to install this dialer.

please mention me and forum xda as credited sources.
Enjoy.
Please make sure you download the right version for your phone/dialer (see above).
They can be found on the posts that follows (2-6).
I have also included on this first post a copy of BlueFrog Dialer cab (the latest variant of Mogull Big Button Dialer by Paul Hammond) which is required for CDMA Titan phones only, as well as a copy of the HTC Touch Dialer which is for non-Touch GSM PHONES ONLY. CDMA and GSM Touch phones with stock touch dialers should work without any additional cabs. If you have a phone with a custom dialer cooked into a custom ROM, then it will probably work, but it depends on the layout of your progress in-call screen. Read the versions explanantion above for details.

Sorry for a probably studid question. But can this beatiful dialer be used on a HTC P3600 (trinity)?
And if it is possible, how do I do it?
Thanks

I assume that is a GSM phone. Does your default or current dialer have the same layout as the screen shots you see? If so, then just try installing the skin.
IF not, then uninstall any previous installed dialers, then install the HTC dialer.cab on the first post and see if all functions work well. If it does, then install one of the V4 skins.
really nice collections...
Thanks...
The rest of the titan versions have been uploaded.
Hi,
Can you tell me if those dialers work well ornot with a Polaris (HTC Cruise) with the smartdial?

they work fine on my polaris... install HTC Dialer.cab first tho.
I have got it working with Smartdialing on HTC Touch Cruise. I used the "Diamondish WhiteGreen Dialerv3.31.cab"
Thanks for the great job. Only the left star button stays black. see image. But it works great.

VGA compatible "IContact" like app?

lately, ive tried just about every Icontact edition/app that is available on this forum...some look totally awesome from the screenshots..but I have yet to get one that work and display properly on my athena. I do not use REALvga to change my dpi at all, and I always use my athena in landscape mode. Anyone got a working contact app with smooth finger scrolling for their athena yet? Most of the ones ive tried either have displays that are overlaying other buttons...or the app just starts completely black and graphics begin to glitch.
pocketCM works in any realvga resolution.
Just avoid non vga skin, or install just the .exe file
freeware (donate if you like)
I use Icontact, works fine but I'm in realvga, PocketCM hasn't palyed well since 0.21 on my athena, not certain why.
iContacts has not worked at all on mu x7510. The alpha selection that appears on my TyTN does not appear on my x7510 and contacts themselves do not scroll without theuse of page down and page up i.e. not with finger or stylus gestures. Has anyone had better response than this?
I have tried Icontact with no avail, it just wont display properly in landscape on my advantage. PocketCM works with the standard orange skin, however it seems kinda laggy and some of the overlays like the keypad when it pops up is translucent. I have tried the mmchtc skin, as well as another one, and the black style one works...but I really dont like all the black buttons heh. Since im running a 6.1 rom, ive already got threaded messaging, so no real need for the fancy pocketcm style either.
I've decided to start using Vito FunContact. it loads quickly, and has a great gui....very eye pleasing, and it scrolls pretty decent as well. I am trying to use Vito SMS, however it seems to take F O R E V E R to load...only thing I can think of is vito sms threading actually shows ALL txt history, where the base win mob 6.1 threaded sms app only displays recent txts, then you must click on "older" to display previous messages.

[9-25-2008] 3D Button Dialer skin with cab (New Versions)

I got tired of the three step process to install the dialer, SmartDial and graphics everytime I flashed or did a hard reset. So, I made my own .cab installer file.
I combined DxC's excellent minimal dialer (3b), the new SmartDial version of EtPhone.dll with my own graphics and replaced the contents of DxC's .cab file. I edited the EtPhone.dll file to hide the little black rectangle that is left over from the elapst time display. I also edited the layout for the button sizes to better fit the graphics on the "Call Status" page.
I don't really use the landscape version, so I didn't make any changes there. I'm not really sure who the credit for those graphics should go too.
The results are a one step install Dialer with SmartDial, redial and (I think) pretty good graphics.
I hope you enjoy it.
8-3-2008 - I created a white set of files. The graphics line up pretty well but with an all white background the text at the top of the screen doesn't display. It may work off of the system fonts associated with your theme. If so, your in business... Let me know if the skin works with your white theme and I'll finish the process by creating a cab file.
Still no Landscape. and I can't edit the EtPhone.dll sufficently to get rid of the rectangle, or add extra smart dial lines.
8-6-2008 - I think I did it. I got rid of the rectangle. Actually I moved it to the upper left corner on the same line as the dialed phone numbers. I got to looking at the original EtPhone.dll file (Pauly-A E Ten) I realized that DcX actually moved the buttons around to get the wonderful layout we now have. Someone else moved around the layout to make the Smartdial visible (I don't know who) So I figured, instead of hiding it why not just move it...
... so now it is nearly perfect. (the black one, to me) I still can't seem to figure out how to reverse the text color for the white version. I will keep hacking at it. I won't be making any other layout versions, I'm pretty happy with the layout as it is. I may create some new graphics for this layout. Sorry, I can't please everyone. So I please myself and bring along as many as I can with me.
The .cab file below is the newest version with the rectangle fix.
9-11-2008 - I got to tinkering around again. I moved and resized some buttons on the dialer screen. I enlarged the SmartDialer and enabled the BT headset icon. I also cleaned up the graphics. I only changed the main dialer screen. There are black and white versions. I have only tested on the Wizard. Enjoy...
9-25-2008 - Couple of little edits to show the status icons for headset and location. Okay so I also removed the white line down the left side of the Call Status screen on the black version.

Does it have redial functionality

Why yes, yes it does...
That is the SmartDial version. Sorry, I should have stated that.
Requests...
Perchance, make the keypad buttons just a bit smaller so that more of the SmartDial list shows (rather than just the one line)...
...and skin the landscape display?
Nice job overall, like the SmartDial addon.

Very nice dialer but u didnt solve the rectangle problem hiding the middle of the smartdial. I installed, soft-reset, press green call button to display this nice dialer, then slide out keyboard to see default landscape dialer with no smartdial, then closed hardware keyboard putting the screen back to portrait and low and behold, black rectangle box in the middle of smart dial. Awesome dialer if u can really fix the box problem as well as work on the landscape skin. Good Luck!
Love the dailpad...can we change the background to all black?
thanks
nice job...thanks
can we have a white version (easy to see in sun light)
landscape would make it complete
thanks
Mr. Incredible,
This is a perfect & sharp graphical one, thanks for the effort.
Can I have the same with white background please.
Thanks again.
another observation... I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, been so long since I've used a smartdialer, but the 1 acts as a wildcard for contact names... again, can't remember if that is an original function of it, or what.
perfect,
i also prefer totally black for better reading...
i don't know if this is possible, but to see 2-3 smartdial lines it would be nice.
but i don't know if this is easy to change ?

agree! A white version similar to diamond graphics would be highly appreciated
Any way to use this with HTCTouch's WM7 dial skin? I so miss having that smartdial feature! Now everytime I have to call the last person, i have to either dial number or go to PocketCM. That is no fun!

Sorry I, realized that after I posted. I'm not a programmer. I was just hacking around with the EtPhone.dll file. My resources for editting are pretty limited. I do hate the little rectangle, so I will keep trying. (yes, hate is a strong word)

I don't really like sunlight. I try to avoid it at all cost. I may be able to replace the EtPhone.dll in DxC's minimal dialer for you. It's white. (mostly)
Also, the all black background isn't possible. I started with a all black background and the 3D effect I applied added a little bit of "off-black" to achieve the effect. I too would like a more black version but the trade off is not as realistic.
Nice job on the dialer. Big buttons and black are perfect for me.

Really simple.
1. Uninstall any other dialers you may have installed. (Not including the original)
2. Copy the cab file to your phone and double click. Soft reset the phone.

[REQ] large dialer with smart dial?

Is there a large dialpad similar to idialer but with smart dial (so spelling out a contacts name will bring up their number) ? or even a way to enable smart dial?
iDialer here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2694308
or something similar to the minimal dialer here:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Skins/Minimal-Dialer-64089.shtml
but doesnt use the diamond phone canvas as a base (because of the issues with wm6.5 & the just stupid amount of ram the diamond phone canvas uses)
currently i'm using the gorgeous Ryon dialer skin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508920
but the buttons are to small
Anyone know what dialer this is and where to get it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1336681&postcount=41
Seems to be what i'm looking for
looks like an old version of inesoft try here
http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=phone.html
You can try Yota Dialer (search here), except it's a little buggy for me.
thanks for replies guys but Innosoft doesn't seem to have smart dial otherwise was good and ya yota is just a bit too buggy (not to mention it takes up as much space as the regular htc dialer)
anyone else have suggestions on a large button dialer with smart dial?

There isn't one really.
I've been looking for the same solution for a while.
Put a request for a developer here instead. I'll put my hand in for the graphics.
iconsoft phonex has smart dialing and a large keypad, I think the latest version uses a lot less ram too a simple dialpad similar to that would be great to replace the small wm dialer
Maybe o3touch brings what you want? See http://www.o3touch.com/
phonex is not bad but when receiving it interferes with the windows 6.5 lock screen, otherwise it was actually pretty good, had smart dial n everything
o3touch seems to be a keyboard not a dialer so cant really comment on that
i came across a really good 1 but its incomplete, its here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437296
its a VGA touchflo 2d dialer, the dial screen is perfect with smart dial and good buttons, as well the incall screen works great.
forgot to test out how it works with an incoming call and the wm6.5 lock screen (though it probably wont work that well)
but the big killer for this is that its not finished and in wm 6.5 when using smart dial the contacts all wash into eachother and become unreadable (the names will just constantly overlap eachother so its unreadable)
anyone know of a dialer similar to this but JUST the dialer, the incall screen is nice but not a big deal but any kind of custom incoming call screen will just screw with the wm6.5 lock screen
i've seen a boat loads of dialers for qvga (minimal dialer being really good) so their has to be something similar for VGA, or if their are any developers who could make 1 for 6.5
its the same dialer as 6.1 but because the lock screen already has slide to answer built in and an incall screen built in we only need to skin the actually dialer itself
and of course if anyone has a dialer they really like please share
