How do I assign\ scripts/shortcuts to Hardware Buttons? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I searched the forum for an answer to this question and though it throws up a lot of threads from the search, I couldn't find the answer. My apologies in advance if I have missed the obvious solution. Here is my problem.....
When I go to Settings-->Personal-->Buttons on my Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard), I can ONLY select the "programs" which are listed by WM5. Is there any other way?

doublelauncher, buttonmax - try these programs.

You have to place shortcuts to the scripts/programs in the folder "\windows\startmenu\programs", then you can select them in Settings > Personal > Buttons.

Thanks a lot. That worked for me.

Or MortScript.

Bluetooth.exe

Hi,
Am running a T-Mobile Compact 2 with WM5 and Spb Pocket Plus installed.
I would like to have a desktop icon that links direct with bluetooth on the device. I have been advised to find a bluetooth.exe file and create a shortcut. I have looked and cannot find the file or anything that looks like it. Does anyone have any idea where I should look and what the file will look like.
Yes I have toggled file explorer to show all files and yes I have searched dilligently through the whole damn list looking for a bluetooth icon. I have also used windows explorer, when synced, but with no success.
Will.
I believe you're posting in the wrong forum.

yep.... wrong forum!!!
Please forgive my ignorance, would you tell me which forum I should post my query on?
I must be honest I assumed that a forum about my device would be the right place to post.
Will
actually since there is no dedicated Charmer forum, the majority post in the Magician forum
there is a program to add a bluetooth icon to the system tray, clicking it takes you straight to bluetooth settings but i cant bloody find it again! sure its on modaco somewhere!!! will have another look when ive got time for you
Dave,
Thanks for your post. I know Modaco. I'll start searching. If I find the program i'll put a link here.
I've used this Forum a few times now and responses have been minimal so it's a real pleasure to get some help. I also didn't know my device is a Charmer not a Magician, thanks again. (My girlfriend thinks it's apt).
Will.
Here are three different ways of adding a bluetooth / wireless toggle to your today screen.
The first is a link to a registry hack
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=248198&hl=
The second is a CAB file smartphones
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=247482&hl=
and the third is a CAB file for PPC's (it worked on my Charmer / T-Mobile compact 2)
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=99493&hl=
Hope these work for people.
Will.

touchFLO without flash?

Is there any way to get it without having to flash to a new ROM?
Running black wm6
Have you tried to use the search function?
/flame ON
I second that. You know, I think the mods should start telling people to use search in the e-mail that you get after they sign up
I agree that the search function should be used, but sometimes, the answer just can't be found using it. For instance, the thread I posted in the general unlocking forum ... I STILL can't find the answer in the Wiki, but I was blown off because "it's in the wiki". Yeah, they should search, but if they say they searched and couldn't find anything, and show they tried, then lay off.
/flame OFF
Did those of you who posted 'use the search' also use the search before typing 'use the search'? I must say, 'use the search' has been said here a lot and we all get sick of n00bs saying it.
Another hint for any n00bs who want to say 'use the search' for people asking for help would be that part of the reason the search function here sucks so bad is the extraneous messages, and I think we can consider 'use the search' type of messages to be extraneous.
As for the original question, I've never seen anything that answers your specific question asked or answered here before, so you have asked a good question. I don't have the answer but maybe someone can point you in the right direction, or you can find an appropriate thread to post your question to (recommended).

If you mean something that is available as it is for the wizard (Vario I) then no. At the moment I have a Vario I and a Vario II. On both of them I'm using iContacts (iPhonish way to scroll through your contacts). On the Vario I I'm running DrDot's ROM which has TouchFlo "the cube" (it's a prism actually) installed. Works like a charm!
For the Hermes (Vario II) there's no ROM yet if I'm not mistaken. There is however a "ButtonFlo" version of TouchFlo available. For now it only works via hardware input instead of using the touchscreen. It's just a .cab, you should be able to find it on this hermes section using the search function. the DrDot (not for the Hermes!) and iContacts can also be found on this forum. Good luck!

TouchFLO doesn't work properly at all on the HERMES, so you won't have to worry about flashing.
Oh yeah, next time search for your answer first. (read my signature regarding search for a bit more help)

Close Software permanent

Hello,
i guess my problem was discussed many times, but I can't find any solution here. I searched, but couldn't find.
I want to close the software by clicking the little x, and not minimizing it. is there any registry key to edit?
And is there any better way to see which programms are open than the standard way by settings/memory/... ?
Greetings
Pete
try doing a search for x-button

Problem with tapping in emailscreen

On my HTC touch HD, when in emails, I could scroll through the different emails in every emailaccount, and tap the mail I wanted to come up. In my HD2 I can however scroll through the emails but cannot bring them up by tapping. I always have to push More and then scroll down to find the email I was looking for.
Is this explanation clear ?
If anyone has a solution, please help me out ! Thx !!
Please search in future, and don't expect your results to come up within the first few threads. You need to actually search when you search, not just give up.
Go to start and then lock (bottom left softkey).
It works after that.
I had the same question. How could anybody know this behaviour of the HD2? Didn't find anything in the manual. Anyway, thanks.

It wouldn't be in the manual as it's a bug, not a feature.
Anybody could "know this behaviour" by searching this forum - that's what it's for.
Anyway, I'm glad you've now sorted it and know how to do so in future.

Start menu enchancement

In many different ROMs and themes I have seen the Start menu being enchanced by making it more akin to the Programs tab, but even though I have searched for hours I haven't found the answer to how to do this.
The closest I got was to install HTC EnlargeStartMenu_1_2_37901_1.cab, but this didn't help. I also tried changing the registry called EnlargeStartMenu, but that didn't help either.
Finally I sent the amazing andrew-in-woking a PM asking for assistance and he kindly wanted to help but told me to make a thread of it in which he could reply so others could benefit from it as well.
Isn't that fantastic?
EDIT: Meaning, he will answer here

Hi mhurg
I prefer to answer questions in the open forum instead fo by PM because then everybody benefits from my answer rather than just the one person who asks the question.
Having installed the HTC Menu enhancement that you referred to in your post, install Tom Extended Menu. It's by a guy called Tom Condon. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547280
Once in Tom Extended Menu you will be able to choose which start menu you want to have on your device.
One point to note is that the HTC style start menu is not particularly responsive, I think because the Menu Enhancement is not cooked into the ROM.
Thanks
andrew-in-woking
Thanks a million Andrew, works perfectly now
hey i wish i could get this working on my winmo 6.1 /manila 2.5 rom!! i would love to have this instead of the default 6.1 start menu! can anyone help?
