Hello,
i've a xda and use it with my d2 vodafone card, and everything works with it allright.
I want to buy me an xda II, do anyone knows wether it works too with an d2 vodafone card? Or is there something like a simlock, can I use internet with gprs an the all stuff people with O2-Germany can use?
I'm happy for all answers that can help me.
hi,
my t-mobile mda-II works without any problems with the d2-vodafone card. You can use every kind of connection you want. No SimLock on my device!
But you can´t use gprs with a callya card you need a real card.

thanks
hi alex,
thanks for your answer.
I think xda II and MDA II are the same in everything. So I think I can buy me an Xda II without any fear.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo excited.........
Bye...
Connecter, I would be wary about buying the xda2 if you need to use it on another service providers network, it seems people are having an awful job getting them unlocked by O2, now I dont know what kind of Vodafone sim you have but it certainly isnt O2 so make sure before you hand over the loot.
now i'm confused
Sooooo,
now i'm confused.
Is there anyone who can tell me if the xda II works with my german provider "D2 Vodafone"?
I wanna have a xda II, but I also want to use my "D2" provider, and I want use all features of the xda II.
Can someone help me???
Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi
I do have the same issue with SIM lock or not, I want to use it on a swiss network.
I just wrote to the support of O2 Germany (where I got mine from), they replied that XDA2 does not have a SIM lock.
So I should be possible to use it on any network.
Why you don´t buying the mda-II Device? I can garantie that it works!
regards
AleX
MDAII works fine
Hello,
i bought a T-Mobile MDA II. There is no simlock on my device. Web-Browsing with GPRS ist easy to set up. The only problem i have is to set it up to send and receive MMs-Messages. But i'm still working on it.
Regards
Markus

Don't be. O2 in the UK sells the XDA II with a SIM lock, while O2 Germany sells the German version of the XDA II without a SIM lock (or so I've heard).
The MDA II also has no SIM lock, and at least in Germany is considerably cheaper than the XDA II. I got mine brand new from eBay for 560 Euro without contract.
You can easily flash the O2 firmware to an MDA II (for example, if you want the homezone indicator).
Cheers

an unlocked xda2/mda2/qtek2020
should work with just about any gsm provider there is
like an unlocked nokia telephone does
Does MDA II have english OS or German?

First time I have posted although I have done quite a lot of reading today ............
I have just purchased a new i-mate. Previously I have owned iPAQ 2650 and 5555. I find the i-mate to be a very promising device.
One problem has manifested itself though. My cell supplier provided me an i-mate, not an O2 XDA II, but on the O2 network. When attempting to set up the GPRS I found it a bit tough going and called O2 support which informed me that the O2 XDA II had an essintial piece of software that enabled the owner to easily configure WAP and GPRS setting. Obviously my i-mate does not have that software and we proceded to configure manually. The O2 tech said that in the future I was likely to experience trouble with GPRS as a result of not having the configuration software.
I am having trouble already today by virtue of connection trouble and a reluctance to load web pages and my AOL.
I notice that O2 has a ROM upgrade on their site. Does anyone know what the result of me upgrading my i-mate with this software will be?
Has anyone else had any similar problems?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Wes
I have an XDAII which I have set up GPRS on both Vodafone and o2 in the UK. I have also set up an imate in the UK for Vodafone. I assume you should have no problem setting up a GPRS connection for o2. Check the forum for the GPRS settings for o2, and set up in Connections. The imate manual has instructions on how to do this. If you get stuck send a post.
I've got both the JASJAR and the XDA Exec and there is practically no difference in the ROM.
The XDA rom doesn't come with all the i-mate crap such as the 4MB *.tsk files but does come with a very useful task manager.
O2 Active is a pain in the ass but is easily disabled.
Just curious.
because I have a german MDA PRO ... and I'm not a german speaker
Is there any Pocket MSN on Exec? (Just a question, though.. was wondering if Exec users are suffering the same fate as MDA Pro users..)
Yes!
Yes, Pocket MSN is on the Exec
Ah.. I am soo envious! You guys got it cheaper, with all essential apps included. So.. lucky!
just got uk tmobile mda vario, unlocked it ok, changed rom to k jam, now i cant get gprs settings to work for o2, sorry im a bit thick lol.
i think i should have left it with t mobile
any help appreciated
update - got it browsing now but no mms ?????
Hi,
I've just got a new O2 XDA Exec (I like black) and my network is on T-Mobile, could i put the T-Mobile ROM on this device?
I shall also be using the T-Mobile (UK) Web'n'Walk package so i want to benefit accordingly.
Any help would be great.
thanks
Pratik
I'm pretty sure the T-Mobile ROM will work, but you don't need it to benefit from the Web n Walk package, I've switched to T-Mobile, and have just put the settings in manually and it works fine.
Cheers,
Steve
