I recently got a Bluetooth dongle for my PC but can't get my XDA-II to use any of the services !
When I select ActiveSync and the Sync with Bluetooth I get
'Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. The communications prt is not available. Another program may be using the port, or it may not be valid.
Quit any programs that may be using the port and reconnect. If the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer.'
When I choose Bluetooth settings and select 'Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup'->Start on the XDA II I get 'Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port or ActiveSync profile as your ActiveSync partner !
The PC has the ActiveSync service enabled and I am now stuck. Please help.
Try this utility.
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
Install it, do a soft reset. Delete previous BT connection and find again.
you should get an option to sync on your XDA II with the specific computer.

try following this tutorial at geekzone
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2417
try to turn off infrared communication on ppc.
try to delete all bounded devices both pc and xda.
try to search for a bt device again.
You have to follow the above mentioned procedure. After that you start to search the device with ActiveSync.
ActiveSync will start to check all the serial ports, one port before it comes to the port that is used by your BT stack, you should start ActiveSync via BT on your XDAII.
This is the only way (for me) to get that crap working. After the XDAII and the computer have found each other, future syncs via BT are no (or at least not a big) problem. If the XDAII and the computer sometimes dot not find each other, try to sync 2-3 times, it will hopefully work then. Sometimes there seems a kind of timeout error.
I don't use BT anymore 'cause it is really a hard job to get it running. Even when I managed to establish the connection, after some days the connection gets lost again and can only be repaired by re-installing the BT stack or ActiveSync - I am really tired of beta testing all the bluetooth stacks and stopped to use it until the industry established a working standard...
I try a lot of time after install Tobias application for BT, but I can not see the new dialog after pair my XDA II with PC. Someone help me!
I had the exact same experience. I have not sorted out my the BT problems yet but suffered also from the interrupted connection using the cradle until I disabled Norton anti-virus and firewall.
HELP!
No connection possible between my PC and MDA-II.
Bluetooth Devices program in Windows XP SP2 comes up with "incoming port: 17", while ActivSync seraches only ports 1 to 9.
How can I make them listen to the same port?

On MDA-II I didnt change anything. I use the same drivers as provided within ROM 1.72.
Hi all,
Since upgrading to the recently released O2 ROM I can no longer get my activesync to work over bluetooth. I have reinstalled the bluetooth module on the PC and tried many many times to connect - without sucess.
Usually I just make sure of the following:
XDA2 paired with laptop (Dell D600).
ActiveSync BT profile installed and set to COM4 (in this case)
Activesync itself has COM4 in its settings.
Then usually, I go to activesync on the XDA2, hit sync over bluetooth and hey-presto! But since the upgrade I get nothing...no messages, no failure, no connection....just nothing.
Has anyone seen this and found a way out? I have trawled the forum but nothing seems to help.
Cheers - Rich
Hi,
It is very odd. I know and this happen to three XDA II devices in our office after the upgrade. If you experiencing the following.
1) Go the ActiveSync of XDA and select Tools and then Connect Via Bluetooth. Nothing happens. None of the usual dialog box saying "Opening Port".
This is how I got it working again for all three devices.
1) Uninstall the bluetooth application and driver from your PC and reboot.
2) Reistall the bluetooth application and driver.
3) From the XDA II.
a) Remove any previous pairing that you may have made before.
b) Go Start -> Settings -> System -> Bluetooth Settings
c) Click the "Start" Button
d) Select the Bonded Devices Tab
e) Select "New" and go through the pairing process.
4) Now the bluetooth via ActiveSync should work.
Note:. Check on bluetooth settings the comm port setting used and make sure that ActiveSync is using the same comm port. Also upgrade to the latest ActiveSync version 3.7.1 Build(4034).
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Kueh.
Hi There.
I had this problem also.
All I did was go into ActiveSync on the PC and deleted the bonding between the two devices. (Its in the file menu somewhere). Then on the PPC, go to Start, Settings, System, Bluetooth Settings, then click on the ActiveSync setup and start a fresh.
Good luck, hope it all works.
Rob.
EXCELLENT!!
Many thanks - in my rush I had forgotten to tell it to start the bluetooth activesync setup as described in your mail.
Many thanks - R
Hi there people,
I know I saw a post earlier about this but it didn't help my problem so far. By the way, i'm using a bluetooth from Belkin (for my laptop) which uses Widcomm stack protocols. And I haven't tweaked my XDA II so its still using the default bluetooth stack.
My problem is this, about a week ago, I can syncronize using ActiveSync via the cradle and bluetooth.. everything has worked fine ever since I got the device (which is over a month or two).. But starting yesterday, I'm having problems connection to ActiveSync via bluetooth. All the display is saying is "Connecting to Host".
I've already tried, re-installing, un-installing both the bluetooth driver (on the laptop) and ActiveSync 3.7. But I've already wasted my whole day today but I still can't synchronize. Has anybody out there knows a solution other than hard-resetting the whole XDA II???
I hope somebody could help me on this.
Anyway, thanks in advance for those who can help me...

Now even using the cradle keeps getting Unresolved Items... time for backup and restore
some peoples problems with activesync is solved by removing the connection and letting it reconnect
also i believe there is a activesync 3.71

I'm having the same problem, however mine has never synced via bluetooth. I can get both the desktop and the phone to add each other to the bonded list, but can never get either one to see the other once I have gone through the process of adding them to the bonded list.
I used to be able to connect to activesync via bt. But after a recent hard reset, when I tap on bt in ActiveSync in my PPC, it just does nothing. No response, no error message, just nothing happens.
However BT headset works fine.
Can anyone help? Thanks.
I got the same problem with ActiveSync via Bluetooth after I upgrade my Xda II from ROM version 1.52 to 2.06. Transfering files via BT works fine, but not activesync.
I keep searching the posting for solving the problem

Maybe a stupid question, but did you re-create the ActiveSync bluetooth bond on your XDA2 before trying to use AS? I made this mistake after a ROM update a while ago.
After the ROM upgrade, don't just create a new bond to the PC through the Bluetooth page. You must go to Start -> Settings -> System -> Bluetooth Settings and then tap the 'Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup' button, which creates a bond ready for BT ActiveSync.
Of course, you may know this so this may seem like a silly suggestion, but this is the mistake I made after a ROM upgrade...
BT ActiveSync Problem on XdaIIs Solved
Hi SiliconS,
Thank you very much for your suggestion. My Xda can ActiveSync via Bluetooth now. I am very happy with it.
It was 3 weeks after upgrading, I searched thru the posting on the Internet. I share my problem and request help. Almost everyday looking the site waiting for the reply.
Tonight is my great night, you came with suggestion and solve my problem.
After I removed bonding device, I performed Soft Reset. On Bluetooth Setting, I unchecked Passkey Require, uncheck Inbound and Outbond Com Port, then select Start and continue rebounding device.

Hi there,
What BT stack and what OS are you using on your notebook? Is it XP SP2/SP3 with default windows BT stack ? Check this thread for more details and report back! Also you might try installing Widcoom BT drivers, that will usually solve issues like yours...
hi sasovics
thanks for your reply
I would but my trinity connects flawlessly to my notebook
and the HD does not connect to my headset
so I don't think the problem is with the notebook drivers
cheers
so...
