Using gps for telemetry... - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hey guys!
I'd like to use my pocketpc (Jam) and my gps receiver like a telemetry for my bike.
I use my motorbike on raceway and I'd like to take the time for each lap, the best time of the day and so on...
Is there a specific sw or a simple sw that store/log the position of the gps receiver in a file that I can use/parse toi retrieve the lap time?

hei Merkino, have you find an solution to this ?
it will be great if you advise me about this... thank you.

Bluetooth Real GPS device

Can you obtain GPS location (lat/long) from a TomTom 500 via bluetooth to the Universal?
My thoughts are to use the Tom Tom like a normal GPS device for when I am driving (SDIO/bt GPS for the phone not really wanted at the mo, in case I get a different device later), and then to record my trips via some software (self developed if necassary) on the Universal.
TIA
Gareth
seems like the silence means a no. ho hum
I'm pretty sure lat/long feature is available in TomTom- I remember looking into that when I first installed TT on my JAM.
So you should be able to use your own software to do something with it. Perhaps there's already an app that does what you want. I remember someone else here on the forum wanting to do a similar thing.

GPS tracking software w/distance info

Hey everyone. I've got a Cingular 8125 with a Belkin bluetooth GPS receiver. I typically use IGuidance for mapping and navigation purposes. I'm starting to train for a half marathon coming up in October. I'd like to use some software that will record my runs in terms of time and distance. It needs to work whether or not I'm on a road because I'm offten running trails and the like. I already use my 8125 with an armband for music and carrying the GPS receiver won't be that much of an issue. I just would like to be able to better track my total distance and time if possible. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance!
gps dash will allow you to record distances, times, altitudes etc and show them on google earth when you get home. I've used it for a while and its very accurate, you can even add your own maps
theres a demo to test but it works fine on my wizard

If you have a question, just ask! I can't make sense out of your posting so far. Something to do with GPS....?
Nice writing stile, make it rime and you will be a star!
But seriously, the icon is there to help you manage a GPS receiver if you have one which obviously you do not.
So go out and buy a BT GPS receiver and a navigation software like TOMTOM and you will be all set.
Don't worry they all come with instruction manuals.
1st setup a bluetooth partnership with device under: bluetooth-settings-com ports-new outgoing port(com6).
2nd setup com port under start-setting-connections-external gps-gps program port(choose 7)-hardware-gps hardware port-com6-baud band as per device instructions, mine said 38400.
under access-make sure box is cheked.
This should be it. I use google maps for free with free internet access to open maps as you are driving. I use a bluetooth holux gps slim240 which I bought on ebay for $55.
Good luck.
with which device do i setup a blue tooth partner ship ..!!
rest all is done ..!!
what is gps reciever and navigation software..!!
i don t know this..!!
plz guide me..!!
I don't mean to be rude, but if you do not know these things and didn't think of googling for them you have no business messing around with anything saying 'GPS' on your device!
After all these are the basics:
GPS receiver is the thing (antenna and chip) that picks up the signal from the satellites and calculates your current position. It also connects to your phone via bluetooth to report this information.
Navigation software is the program you run that displays the map and guides you where to go.
And remember - if you do not know what it is you do not need it!

Don't bother, you're not ready for it yet.....
First learn about the issue then come back and ask how to use it.
am all set.. plz tell me about what i asked.. !!
in my previous message.
(yeah, I know. Why bother, eh?)

as for the navigation software, well you should really buy it. You can illegaly download it from, y'know, those places where you get all your cracked games from, but, like...we should all support software developers or it might not be worth their while to make any new versions....
waitin ur replies guys..!!
plz answer my question.!!
waitin.!!
1) I can't tell you how much a receiver will cost or where to by because I do not know where you live and chances are you are not in the same country as me so I wouldn't have the info for you any way.
2) There are no major differences between latest models. If you want to know a certain receiver better find and read a review.
3) NO!!! BT headset and GPS receiver are completely different things. Though now that you mention it - here is an idea for new product. Consider a startup company
4) yamilrx already gave you an answer for free software and a suggestion + price for receiver in US. If you want help in the future you should read carefully the answers you get!

As I noted initially a bluetooth GPS receiver is about $50-100 on ebay. I like my holux gps 240 slim because it is the size of a lipstick. I use google maps for free but there is no voice guidance unless you purchase software such as tom tom.
Follow my instructions to paire the bt receiver to your pocket pc and it should work. Remember the com port part it won't work if you don't do that part.
No! you cannot have a bt gps and bt head device but you can purchase separate and link both to your phone. I currently have my gps receiver, a bt headset, and my car's bluetooth phone linked to my qteq. As soon as I sit in the car with my phone it knows that it is my hands free and links everytime. I have a BMW 530i with built in BT phone which links to my phone contacts.
Here is my previous post:

Gps+electromagnetic compas...?

Hi,
I just wonder - is there any chance of buying a bluetooth module with GPS and electromagnetic compass to connect it to Kaiser?
Kaiser GPS is much worse for geocaching then I ever though, nevertheless I use it quite often. In case there is no such module (I made some googling and cuiling with no result) - what accessories would you recommend me? I hate when the gps just freezes and I need to fast walk 100m to get it to work.
I use GeoScout and OziExplorer 1.4.
Thanks for all ideas!

all suggestions welcome, REF tomtom application while on a motorbike

hi all,
have just recently got tom tom up and running on my blackstone,
have a few questions as no doubt they can be resloved using applications and configurations in one way or another,
i will be using this feature on my motorbike as i cant stand driving cars
and due to this have encountered a few issues.
as i cant see the screen as the phone is in my pocket is there any way i can disable the backlight and lock the touch screen/ hard buttons and still have the tom tom software running?
i will have a head set on in my helmet so all i need is the voice directions from the software,
also, can i block all incoming calls?
i suppose i could just switch it to divert prior to getting on my bike.
last question,
when first installing the tom tom software i went outside the house to see if it worked while on foot, and the GPS reception was perfect...
i then went in installed some 3rd party route planning software on my PC to test routes and all of a sudden the gps signal is awful, it keeps dropping out. will only connect for a few seconds then drop again.
is there any thing i can do or install to improve gps performance?
