What could one do to connect the laptop (XP) to GPRS via Qtek 2020 infrared port instead of the usb cable ? Is there any appropriate driver? Appreciate your feedback!
I HATE IR
WHY?
The usb cable is much more reliable.
and faster
That's truth, USB is faster and more reliable. But you have forgotten that you must have cradle with you, all the time. Do you know the way to connect these two devices by IR to use GPRS? I'd be very grateful for such information.
well you can use a bluetooth dongle and use it that way
IRDA Connection
Hi Slaven,
you have to install a 3rd party tool to create a virtual com on your PC.
Try with this one:
IrCOMM2k at http://www.ircomm2k.de
Hope can help.
Thank's Apemax,
your advice was very useful !
USB will not be faster as a wireless modem connection, don't worry about it. That serial driver is what you need, and it works quite well. Unfortunately, you have to keep the IR ports aligned, which can be quite a pain. Just that was worth the price of upgrading and having Bluetooth.
i have a laptop (Xp pro sp2) with no wifi device embeded.
how should i use the Wizard(Qtek9100) to act as a wireless lan adaptor? that is to say, how my laptop connect to wireless AP through a usb link with qtek9100 which the wifi function is enabled.
i have tried many settings but with no success. it seems that the qtek could not connect wifi network and usb link simultaneously. the connection icon in the upper-middle screen changed from a Wifi logo to ActivSync logo whenever i plug in the usb cable.
any idea?

You may want to try this :

but the best way - is just to buy a wifi card for your laptop.

Hi
Currently i connect my Desktop PC with my K-JAM through usb cable and use GRPS by turning on K-Jam Modem(activating modem link feature).
K-Jam also has WIFI facility. Can i connect my Desktop PC with my K-JAM through USB-Cable and use WIFI by using K-JAM WIFI builtin card as wifi Adapter/Card??
I want to be able to connect devices on my laptop using the ethernet port sharing the bluetooth connection I have established with my ATT Tilt. I can't seem to find a way to share that connection. Anybody knows if its possible?
I have searched and found a lot of ways to teether my 3G connection to my desktop/laptop via USB or Bluetooth. Not what I need. Here's my perdiciment.
My USB wifi adapter is kaput. I would like to save some bucks and not have to buy another one.
So, I would like my Sprint TP2 to connect to my hotels wifi and then allow my laptop/desktop to connect to my TP2 via USB or Bluetooth and access the internet.
I thank you for your time in advance!
