using a Wizard as a wireless lan "adaptor"? - Networking

i have a laptop (Xp pro sp2) with no wifi device embeded.
how should i use the Wizard(Qtek9100) to act as a wireless lan adaptor? that is to say, how my laptop connect to wireless AP through a usb link with qtek9100 which the wifi function is enabled.
i have tried many settings but with no success. it seems that the qtek could not connect wifi network and usb link simultaneously. the connection icon in the upper-middle screen changed from a Wifi logo to ActivSync logo whenever i plug in the usb cable.
any idea?

You may want to try this :

but the best way - is just to buy a wifi card for your laptop.

Wizard as Wlan dongle

Is it possible to use the wizard as a wlan dongle for a laptop? So, in fact just share the wizard wlan connection over the usb port connecting to the laptop. This would be very cool if it is possible
any idea's?
I am actually just looking for the same answer for the Qtek 9000 that is (eiter USB or BT or IR connection) and unhappy no answers came up so far.
I do not need to use the Wlan on the pda, just share would be enough, any clues? On a "normal" PC I would share internet connection, but on a pda?
Some sort of additional software for this?

usb/activesync question

hi, all
Right now, Wing will try to do the usb connection and then try to activesync with the computer with the usb cable hooked up. Sometime the cable is put in just for charging the device and the computer might be a linux station... Anyways, it is annoying! Is there a way to turn on and off the usb connection like what we can do to the Wi-fi and bluetooth whenever we want to? A mod to the registry also works. A better solution is more desired.
Thanks for such a wonderful forum.
Can't you go into Activesync, then connections, and uncheck usb?
yes, I did. but the usb connection is initiated on the Wing...if the workstation is Linux, then there is no ActiveSync, Wing still tries to connect usb. That is what I want to turn off. Any ideas?

Use Mobile Phone as Wireless to Ethernet Bridge

Hi there,
I am looking for a phone that would allow me to join a wireless (wifi) network and then share the connection with an ethernet connected laptop.
I assume that I will need a phone that can accept either a USB or Compact Flash ethernet adapter.
Has anyone come across such a solution?
Regards,
Tim
99% of pocketpc's are usb slaves and cant ever connect actively to any usb device
but 99% of pocketpc's can work as usb and bluetooth modems for pc's
Unfortunately USB is not an option as we are in a secure environment and USB access is locked down on the laptops.
However you could use your phone connected to your computer with USB, bluetooth, or wifi then connect a hub to your computers LAN port then setup ics with your comp.
