RSS Reader help - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

I want an RSS Reader that:
* Has Today plugin
* Has a setting where I can decide either to download pictures or not
* Has a setting that I can only download headlines.
* Has a user-friendly look
Any advice which one is for me?

I think this is the best one out there, but could be wrong http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...d=2&N=96806&Ntt=rss&productId=142855&R=142855

Egress satisfies all the above.

Look at pRssreqder, its free and you are able to import an opml file.

RSS reader with podcast support for Tytn, any suggestions?

Is it just me, or are there other people having a hard time finding a news reader/podcast downloader that actually works on a Tytn?
I want to be able to store a lot of shows from the Australian ABC radio site http://www.abc.net.au/services/podcasting/ for later enjoyment.
Can anyone recommend a program that they use on a Tytn and are happy with?
i would love to know one as well
i use hubdog. works very well with BBC podcasts and they have a lot of channels too
JEREMY
I get my Dr Karl, and Sunday Night Safran courtesy of HubDog from HubDog.Com
works really well, its not the perfect podcast app, but i love not having to cary my iPod around and being able to "sync" any time any where.
That's what I wanted
Thanks for pointing out hubdog. I didn't know it existed, even though I trawled everywhere for a ppc podcast client.
It not only does the job, it also looks slick too. Very different from the rest.
Great suggestion.
with hubdog, how do you supply login/password for feeds that need authentication?
Well, I dont how about podcast support, but as RSS reader I like SPB Insight.
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com
pRSSreader: http://pda.jasnapaka.com/prssr/
But I'm not entirely happy with it - I have one complaint. I wish there was a way to limit the amount of "articles" kept in memory - some of the Podcasts I list to are large, and there are a lot of them. Even when I delete enclosures, pRSSreader downloads them again.
Egress is your best option
Hi everyone, first post in here.
There is a program called Egress which will definitely do the job for you.
htpp://garishkernels.net/egress.shtml
It is an RSS reader that you can customise exactly to your particular choice. It does allow for podcast catching and offline reading, among other tasks.
I have it running on my HTC Hermes (JasJam skin) and it works just fine.
The software is not that expensive, around 10 usd is I recall properly, and the developer offers you lifetime upgrades, not bad eh?
I forgot to mention that pRSSreader is FREE!
oh yeah hub dog is free too
Jeremy
Hubdog does authentication.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
If you add the feed via your account on the hubdog website it has optional username and password for authenticated sites.
I found Hubdog to be a steep learning curve but worth the patience. I've got my favourite podcasts, vodcasts, headline feeds and flickr photos all stored away so my JasJam will be able to entertainment if I ever get a free moment.
I think JasJam is popular because it makes us feel like we are in touch and in control where ever we are. Hubdog adds yet another dimension with a bounty of multimedia files that we can have without paying cellular data access rates.
I tried HubDog, but it kept locking up... Anyone else see this?

Great - yeah, that works fine. Thanks
How do you delete stuff in hubdog? I deleted them, but it kept them in my enclosure and thus didn't download the new stuff... I'm finding hubdog to be difficult to navigate.
Yea, i'm also finding that WMP doesn't like to stream any of the vodcasts...plus it seems bloated
edit: bloated but cool
Hubdog is slick overall, but what I'm having trouble with is getting rid of what I've already listened to. I wish once you've listened to something you can delete both the media and the "metadata" - the screen that shows you what the media was. I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what I have and haven't heard, and navigating thru the interface to figure that out.
I'm amazed there aren't other good alternatives out there, so maybe I just need to experiment with this app and find a workaround.

NewsCopier
MaximumSoft NewsCopier is a freeware RSS reader. Features include:
* hiding of read articles,
* Cleartype support,
* allows feeds to be stored on your memory card,
* support for a wide variety of RSS-feed formats: RSS 1.0 (including RSS 0.9, 0.91, 0.92), RSS 2.0 and Atom
* Automatic (periodic) updates of feeds
The basic user-interface is quite similar to Illium's NewsBreak, but it lacks advanced features like alerting on keywords and loggin into protected feeds.
Ok thanks, I've tried several, but I still don't know how to add the xda-developers forum to my channel list.
I would like to add some topics(or the whole forum) to the list, so when I sync it, the program downloads that topic, or just the new posts.
Anyone knows how can I do it?
Cheers,
Not sure if you can do that ... I havent seen a RSS symbol for either the forum or thread ... However I know that this can be done on other forums like HoFo ..
Maybe someone else knows how to do this ..
dont forget Egress, thats my favourite. you can even sync the entire web page from the news feed. Also choose to download pictures as part of the feed or choose which pictures to get and does podcasts.

RSS Reader for offline browsing?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a freeware RSS Reader program that will download articles to allow offline reading. I tried pRSS Reader which gave a small summary of the article and then required internet connection to download whichever article one is interested in. I'm wondering if there is a program that will download all the feeds for the day and then delete them for the new feeds on the next day regardless of read status. Thanks.
Edit: Oops. Should this go on another forum? I have an 8125 so I have a quick link to this forum.

Application for receiving news?

Is there a free application that I can install for news articles on my Wizard?
What I have in mind is similar to RSS readers. I would connect the phone to my computer vis USB. The phone would grab all the news articles that i am interested from the internet. Whenever I have time, I would just pull up those news articles on the phone and read them.
NewsCopier v1.1
It's freeware that lets you download RSS and Atom feeds and read them off-line. Learned about it from a thread here, but I've never used it myself.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-newscopier-v1-1.html
If that doesn't get the job done for you, you might want to drop 20 bucks on Spb's "Insight." It's what I use.
You can create your own custom XML templates for it, so you're not limited to RSS or Atom feeds. You can pull down just about anything you want from any web site, if you can figure out how to parse it.
Careful though. It's addictive.
[damn i forgot name of good freeware soft sorry.).
upd, here it is:

Resco Backup v2.01

We just posted a substantial upgrade v2.01. It is so far a BETA only, but it was tested on many devices.
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/backup/downloads.asp
The final release should be soon. (We still have some improvements in mind for the Unpack Tool.)
The news in brief:
PDA:
* Upload/download to FTP server
* Multi-level log of backup activities
* PIN code restore after auto-backup
* Registry Diff tool (allows tracing of Registry changes!)
* Higher speed and a number of other improvements
Desktop Unpack Tool
* Explorer-like interface
* Browse the contents of the backup set
* Files, contacts, e-mails, SMS, Registry etc.
* Selective extraction of specified data
* Export into csv and other formats
I know that several of you had problems with Stopping Apps feature. I have to bring down this is a controversial feature and there does not exist a 100% reliable solution. Whether you take Spb or Resco or Sprite etc. - the best thing these apps can do is to skip over an application that causes the problems.
(The explanation for programmers: If an app is waiting on a kernel object and another app is trying to terminate it, the result is a deadlock.)
I mentioned this because the new version contains very good log. If you get a freeze problem and switch on to the detailed log, there is a fair chance that the log will point to the culprit. If this is the case, we would appreciate if you told us what you saw in the log. (Or send the log to [email protected].)
BUT: If you switch on the detailed log, don't forget to switch it off later as the amount of the logged information is really large.
Best regards
