Request: excute screentap to stop pin request kicking in. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Corporate security requires a pin to be entered after 10 minutes of inactivity, I think this is measured by screentaps as even when GPS is running, the request will kick in.
What I'm after is a program that will simulate a screen tap every 9 minutes or so.
How easy is this to do? and is there a better way to keep the device alive?
Thanks
Howard

Check out SKSchema. I believe it can simulate a screen tap.

Excellent find!! Thanks very much, it does way more than needed, but it's a great solution.
Cheerio
Howard

Instructions?????
I checked out SKSchema to see if this would "fix" this problem. However, there is virtually no documentation (that I could find) for this application. Does anyone know how to operate this program?
What I'd like to do is "simulate a tap" while an application is being run (i.e. TomTom).
Thanks.

AKU2 forced policy password timeout lock DISABLE / LENGTHEN

Does anyone know a way to hack around a forced password policy?
(windows mobile 5.0 AKU2 + Exchange 2003 Admins that enable it)
I'm going mad with the short couple minute forced timeout/lock policy I'm forced to live with. Imagine trying to use your pocket pc as a GPS device and the screen locks asking for a password every couple minutes! (totally sucks)
Here is the closetest thing I've found to it so far. It has to do with Goodlink though but it's a good start. It woudl be helpful if anyone has more info on which reg keys to mess with, and how to keep changes from being overwritten/detected.

:?: anyone, anyone :?:
I just posted the same question at mobilitytoday for more exposure.

found the hack to disable and/or lenghten the duration!

"it is very simple registry hack. just go to hklm\security\policies\policies, look for name '00001023', and change the value to 1. This will enable you to select the lock option as well as duration, which were previously greyed out. this change is effective immediately without soft reset. I have done a few activesync without anyproblem, but as usual, disclaimer applies!"
This only works for a limited time. I get a "Security policy enforcement" message once a day that requires me to enter a PIN again.
The reg key gets reset to 0 remotely.
Monitor/Change Util needed or New programing needed
Try to increase the timeout instead of unchecking the "Prompt if device unused for" box (don't disable it all together) You'll find you wont get any error messages or popups about having to enter a pin etc. I set mine to time out at the maximum 24 hours. It still only lasts 24 hours but at least you dont get any messages flying in your face. You'll just notice the device starts locking too soon again once the forced reset happens
The good news about no error message means someone could write an app to monitor this registry key. (and change the value seconds or minutes after it's reset) Anyone up to the programing challange? (or any utiles that do this already out there?)
Until then I'm glad my registry program resco goes right to the same key when I launch it up for re-modification. (only takes me a few seconds)

bye bye admin policy lock, hello freedom
The "Zenyee.com Stay Unlock" app has worked great for the past few weeks. My device no longer is forced to lock per the policy. I'm 100% happy if anyone else has the same issue.
Anybody have a similar app that works with wm6.1? I have tried Zenyee the changes do not stick. they revert back rather quickly.
Wow....a real blast from the past :-D
Someone posted a similar question a while back......
See this post for the problem - and the solution I posted

Application to soft reset the device

Greetings,
Is there any application for soft reseting the device at certain interval say in 24 hours or the time set by me, just like theme changer application.
Thanks
Sure, on my Touch I use the combination of both the attached programs. That works brilliantly.
The program "RunEveryday" was (and maybe still is) developed by a member of this forum. The softreset-file works without the need of an additional fingertip so you time RunEverday to execute softreset.exe like every morning at 5:50 am and when you get up you have your device with full memory standing by.
Edit: for my Touch I need to use the static linked version. Try for yourself which version you need for your device. And of course, thanks to their developers both RunEveryday and softreset are freeware!

locking down hardware buttons

Hi Guys
Wondered if anyone knew of a way of locking down all the hardware buttons with a registry change on WM5?
Or at least specific ones?
Reason being I'm developing a flash lite data driven app for a device specific service with issued handsets to users during a corporate event - they need to be "locked down" to stop the user activating the phone using the "make call" buttons etc.
Although I can make the Flash app run "full screen" I can't stop the other buttons switching to other apps.
Regards
Derek
2 suggestions.
1 if you are trying to gain lock out control A_C's S2U2 program accomplashes this. If you need something other than his program I recommend that you PM him and asked him out he accomplished it with his lock.
2 you may want to try a program like hbutton. It would allow you to assign controls of the buttons to certain actions. One of the action options could be to do nothing. You could set them all to that.
Try using GXOpenInput();
it will redirect all input screen/keys to your app and then you can ignore then if you want.

I've just googled that command and found this page...
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms831632.aspx
Seems like a good solution - only problem is, I'm not a .Net developer, so how would I pass this into the Flash Lite App as a .swf is loaded on the handset?
is there a way of passing this system variable in almost like a command-line before the app is opened?
Or would I need an executable on the PocketPC to somehow pass that in opening flashlite and the .swf in one go?
Thanks
Thanks for all the useful suggestions, I'm now following them up - cheers guys!

Advanced Device Locks is a Symbian OS application for locking the phone or selected applications only, such as Messages, Pictures, Contacts, Video or any other. With Advanced Device Locks you can secure important information and personal data stored on your phone by locking it up with a secret code up to 7 characters long. With ADL the information in the phone will be protected even if the phone is stolen.
Advanced Device Locks allows you to lock your phone automatically by choosing one of the following options:
Always - each time the phone is turned on, it asks for the unlock code.
When SIM Changed - the locks are on if the SIM card of the phone is changed.
Automatic lock - an automatic lock is switched on after a specified period of inactivity in minutes.
Protected applications - this option turns on the device locks if someone tries to access the protected applications.
With Advanced Device Locks you have the unique option to choose whether to lock the phone itself, to lock selected applications on it or to combine these two options and lock both the phone and certain applications. The lock code can be changed very easily only with a few clicks.
a Main question, is there any way i can use symbian softwares in WM Pocket PC's...?
so long text... so short answer: NO
No you cant use symbian software in your WM phone BUT you can develop programs with the same functions for it
You switched from Nokia to Windows Mobile and you whant the Nokia back? Your one of a kind. And to answer your question, I guess you could make similar application like on the Nokia but not actually use the Nokia apps ON your wm phone
I could probably write this, but I need some proof that people would actually want/use it. Get enough people to post in here for it, and I will look more into it. Better yet, add a poll! FYI, there are already pretty good lock programs out there, some require a password (saw one the other day that was a graphical password). most of those won't let you into the phone, which means they couldn't get into the programs either.

OpenCellClient - a Windows Mobile opencellid client

Hello all!
I started a new project named OpenCellClient. This application is a scanner for the open service http://www.opencellid.org. This project wants to create a complete database of CellID worldwide, with their locations.
This is very useful for a lot of things, working like a "second GPS", for devices without build in GPS receiver.
More than this, RemoteTracker (version 0.3.0-0 and above) can use this database when the GPS receiver could not find the signal, or if the device does not have this radio inside.
Thinking about the great help this project gives to us, I decide to contribute creating a client for Windows Mobile.
How it works? Start the application and go walk, drive or whatever you want do to outside. You GPS will be turned on and the software will scan for cell towers. Each tower found is stored with their coordinate. You don't need to stay connected to internet spending money transfering data to the opencellid website. You can send the collected data later, in your home, work or any wifi spot. After that, you can make searchs using opencellid web site. And we can't forget: this location will be used by RemoteTracker too.
If you want to give a try, please go to http://opencellclient.sourceforge.net and download the cab file.
Requirements:
- .NET CF 3.5;
- SQLServerCE 3.5.
Keep OpenCellClient up to date!
There is an integration with AppToDate. This application verify if configured softwares are up to date or not. If not, you are alerted, and invited to download the new version! Very cool and useful.
You can download AppToDate here.
After install AppToDate, please download and run OpenCellClient to configure AppToDate.
Try this and don't forget a new version never more!
--> It is a work in progress. In future versions I will make a lot more.
Support this project
You can support this project making a donation clicking here or clicking the banners in the project website.

Joubert
looks great thanks for the contribution! i'm getting ready to download it now.
I drive a lot and i'll be more than happy to contribute for France ID's
Very good
Please don't forget this is my first version and may have bugs. If you find one (or more, of course), let me know!
Cheers,
Joubert
Alas, I am not on GSM, but it is fantastic to see you continue to put out fantastic open-source code and tools. Keep up the great work... RT will be built into my ROM always!
Very nice! Will try it on my way to work.
Question: Will it continue to scan when I 'close' the applciation, i.e. put it in the background and use the phone for other tasks, like - äh - doing a phone call or, surfing the web, etc?
Another application using GPS in longer intervals to conserve the battery found out that the initial fixes after the GPS was powered up again (after 3 secs of no GPS usage, the GPS powers down) can be off a bit. I need to check what they did.
Klaus
Ok, I found a small problem: Although WiFi is enabled and a cell is found, the 'Sent to OpenCellID' menu entry is grayed out.
Klaus
Question: Does the API actually give you the Cells 'in view' or only the cells the device is connected to? Because the first would only give you the cells of your provider and not those of competitors.
Although, I understand this would be out of your control, as it happens behind the scenes.
Klaus
How can I send the collected date to the website? This part is always grayed out and not selectable? Still a bug?

When I exit the app, WiFi gets disabled.
I do have the impression the app stops logging when send to the background, or when the device goes to sleep.
Furthermore my device reacts very sluggish when the app is running in the background.
I hope this feedback helps.

Hi!
This option would be grayed ONLY if your device is not a GSM device. I will release a new version without this rule. I think the test I did is not the same for all devices.

The API I used only show me the tower I'm connected. I didn't search for triangulation, but it would be a good idea.

Hi Klaus!
There is a debug option you can turn on. With this option the program create a txt file with debug information you could send to me.
Thank you for your tests

I have tested OpenCellClient and have found the following issues:
1. When I am closing the program with the x-Button (top right corner), OpenCellClient is still visible in the process list and use 1,74M of RAM (visible with TaskManager). When closing with the Exit-Button (down right corner) everything is fine. The process/application is not visible in the Taskmanager.
2. When closing the application the WiFi will be disabled also (already found by other users). The debug-Log does not say anything about WiFi.
3. When enabling WiFi (registry key: wifi) the application crashs after starting the scan process. I know that wifi is not yet enabled, but I have tried it .
I have also 2 wishes:
1. I can change the width of the columns, but after restarting the application I have to change the width again. It is possible to save the width of the columns ?
2. All new CellIds should be visible at the beginning of the list, not at the end.

I have a little remark on the way it works.
Currently, when i click start, it opens the table with cell IDs, starts finding etc. Then i click Send and it brings me back to the welcome screen with the progress bar, ok. But after that i'm unable to go back to the table without stopping and restarting
I'd rather have some kind of tabs so i could swap between screens at will, if possible
Otherwise it worked fine, i sent around 50 different IDs today, no problems so far.
